OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create an interesting scientific discovery for Mandalorian and other scientists to explore.
  • Image Credit: Wildcard Studios, Ark: Aberration Expansion Trailer (gifs made by me)
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Dar'Olar
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Homeworld: Mykyrhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Myrkr
  • Language: None
  • Average Lifespan: Approximately 200 Years
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: The Dar'Olar is a large, carnivorous cave dwelling reptavian. Many times the size of an average human, this massive feathered lizard scales cavern walls with ease with its perfectly adapted claws and glides from perch to perch. Its feather's blue tips glow in the presence of Mykyr's other subterranean apex predator.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 4 Meters
  • Average length of adults: 17 Meters
  • Skin color: Sediment colored (Blacks, browns, deep reds etc.)
  • Hair color: Blue Feathers
  • Distinctions:
    Large Claws
  • Blue Feathers
  • Large, reptilian head filled with rows of sharp teeth
  • Sweet meat

[*]Races: None
[*]Strengths:
  • Active camo: The Dar'Olar has the ability to make itself invisible to the naked eye for around twenty minutes every hour.
  • Glide: The Dar'Olar can glide through the air giving it unmatched maneuverability in the cave ecosystems of Mykyr. Cannot be cloaked and glide at the same time.

[*]Weaknesses:
  • Sensors: Invisibility is visual only. Heat and other sensors will pick up the Dar'Olar in a heartbeat
  • Weak Armor: While it looks like an incredible beast, the Dar'Olar actually has very weak scales and is easily injured by things such as the spears and primitive weapons that the Taung used in their subterranean home

CULTURE
  • Diet:
    Taung
  • Other cave dwelling Fauna
  • Mykyr Crystals

[*]Communication: Communication between species is primitive with roars, chirps and barks being the most common. As an intimidation tactic or to find a mate they will also cause their feathers to shake violently, causing a sound like wind through the trees or a light rattle.
[*]Technology level: None
[*]Religion/Beliefs: None
[*]General behavior: Generally the Dar'Olar are solitary ambush predators, preferring to stay cloaked in one place for days at a time, waiting for the opportune moment to strike on some of the larger creatures that wander the Mykyr cave systems or the unsuspecting Taung hunting parties. Outside of hunting, the creatures mate once a year but do not mate for life. In fact it is not uncommon for the Dar'Olar to mate in large groups of three or four.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Dar'Olar have evolved over thousands of years beneath the earth of Mykyr in their large and planet-wide cave systems. Part of the ecosystem that originally lived atop Mykyr as a small lizard which fed of ysalamir and small birds would eventually grow into one of the apex predators of Mykyr. What spurred its rapid growth and evolution is unclear to Mandalorian scientists, but one thing is certain about this newly discovered creature is that its active camo is near perfect and incredibly dangerous. For thousands of years the Taung tried to hunt this creature out of both fear and awe. Unable to be tamed through normal means, only their Shamans, who embedded the strange Mykyr crystals into their arms and legs were able to tame the wild beasts and only from hatching one themselves. Literally "Not Here" in Mando'a the creature for many small tribes throughout Mykyr remains a myth. For the Mandalorians that remain on Mykyr and the explorers who seek to map the caverns of Mykyr the name brings fear and extra terror to night shifts and sleep. Since their discovery after the Taung attempted to kidnap the Mand'alor not much has been discovered about these allusive creatures as the only samples Mandalorian scientists have had to deal with have been dead specimens.
