SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Alchemized Terentatek Leather
STRENGTHS

  • Alchemized Terentatek Leather: Terentateks are naturally resistant, if not outright immune, to the Force, and their dead hide retains this feature, though somewhat weakened. The alchemized leather, however, is far more protective against the force than standard leather from the beast, providing massive protection from offensive Force powers.
  • Durable: Considering the materials, the alchemized leather provides a solid defense against most kinds of weaponry, and being alchemized means it even can survive the occasional saber strike's glancing blow.
  • Unrestrained Self: Due to being present in the creation of the robes, and from practice, the robes do not interfere with Darlyn's use of the force while worn.
  • Unrestrained Bond: The robes also do not interfere with the natural effects of a Force Bond.
WEAKNESSES

  • Concussive Force: Due to being little more than the equivalent of a leather jacket, or some sweet robes, they don't really stop you from getting hurt if you get punched by a wookie, or hit by a landspeeder, or anything along those lines.
  • Incomplete coverage: The Force protection only works over parts of the body covered in the leather. The chest, a bit around the neck area, shoulders, arms, some of the legs, and boots. This means the leather does absolutely nothing to protect the user from mentalist Force powers, requiring them to do the heavy lifting there. It also means if any part of the leather is removed or damaged, it will be unable to protect that area.
  • Things still hit you: Force Lightning or Fire might be a bit less effective, but it's still going to do something. It still burns you, or electrocutes you, and that does nothing to stop someone from yeeting a boulder at you.
  • Protection from all the Force: The robes don't exactly care how the Force is trying to affect the wearer. Healing, filling their body with the Force to protect them, despite being meant to help these powers are also resisted by the robes.
  • Non-environmental Suit: This suit provides very little protection against any kind of environmental hazard. Radiation, heat, those sort of things are easy ways around the robe's protective nature. The only 'environment' it's able to handle is the cold, and even then it's just as good as a warm coat.
DESCRIPTION
He would no longer be defined by what he once was.

Darlyn swore that to himself when he began hunting the materials for his new set of robes, something he had meant to do long ago. He had spared little expense in finding the finest cloth, and organizing a hunt with a few of his closer Mandalorian brothers, and recent new friend. A hunt for Terentateks, beasts known for being resistant to the force, could impart to the leather made of their hide a fraction of this protective ability, more than enough to be useful. Yet, 'useful' wasn't enough, this was to replace a sentimental item, to erase the past. Darlyn wanted more than just, 'useful'. So, he took his share of the hide, and after having it formed into leather and fashioned into the correct shapes for the robes, sought out an alchemist.

It took some time for him to find someone suitable, and with their help he transformed the leather into something truly magnificent. The pinnacle of what leather from a terentatek could be. It grew from a light leather coat in weight, to something more resembling an average suit of combat gear, and the alchemy made the leather durable enough to protect him from both mercenaries and the glancing strikes of a Sith. But most fantastic of all, the suit became the ultimate in protection from an enemy's use of the Force, and therefore a suitable, nay, perfect replacement for his past robes. With this, he could stand against a Force user like himself, and feel confident in his chances of survival.

He was eager to test the robes, and see what did and didn't work. To his surprise, the robes did nothing to inhibit his own use of the Force, something he attributed to both his uncovered head (there was only a cloth hood) and his presence when the robe was made. However this also provided a weak point, his head and mind were unprotected from the leather. While the leather went up partially to his throat to protect against enemies attempting to choke him with the Force, he hadn't wanted a leather face mask, and this left his mind's defenses to him and him alone. Similarly, the robes were unable to protect him from nature, save a cold day perhaps, which had the unwelcome side effect of not protecting him from secondary features of the Force.

For instance, when shocked with Lightning, or in the presence of a force induced Fire, the heat of both were relatively unaffected. Though the Force wasn't as effective directly, these sorts of powers that struck physically seemed able to affect him regardless, through their physical components. Similarly, throwing a pillar or rock at him would certainly be painful, as he noted the robes did nothing to really soften blows.

The most detrimental side effect, however, was the noticed effect the robes had on not an enemy's attacks, but an ally's support. In testing with a few members of the local Jedi temple, Darlyn discovered the robes actually affected an ally's attempt to use the Force to help him as much as it did an enemy trying to harm him. As far as testing could tell, anything beneficial was weakened, as there was little that was purely mental done. Healing, even minor injuries, was proved exceptionally difficult, as was use of protective forms of the Force meant to keep him safe. Like all other 'direct' uses of the Force through the alchemized leather, these were inhibited, though not outright negated, by the robes leather component.
