Also, I'm reasonably sure that every RPer is supposed to have access to the same sort of things. Nothing too overpowered. Only the high-ranking RPers get positions or items of power.

It's 'ancient', making it a saber precursor. It's also shaped like an actual blade, with a point at the end instead of a rounded end. Makes special noises, too. Therefore, 'special.'
