PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Polymer Alloy
Weight: Very Light
Color: Matte Black
Resistances:
  • Energy (Non-tensor-type) Weapons: Extreme
  • Disruptor-type Weapons: Extreme
  • Lightsaber (And lightsaber-type) Weapons: Very High
  • Kinetic: Extreme
  • Sonic Weapons: None
  • Radiation (Ion / EMP-type) Weapons: Extreme
  • Environmental*: Extreme
  • Biological: None
  • Acid (And other corrosive-type material) Weapons: Very High
  • Tensor-type Weapons: None
  • Non-Force Telepathy: None
  • Force Abilities (Lightside): None
  • Force Abilities (Darkside): None
*Includes only ambient radiation, extreme temperatures, moisture, dust / debris particles, pressure, and other environmental conditions and damage-types, not damage of the same variety from the often more potent and concentrated effects of various weapon types.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Self-repairing polymer alloy.
  • Exceptional defense against radiation (esp. thermal), kinetic, energy weapons, disruptors, and even lightsaber-type weapons.
  • Stealth-enhancing material.
STRENGTHS:
  • Easy Fix: Darkplate’s ability to self-repair over time greatly extended the durability and life of that material, granting the capability to repair from various types and degrees of damage – provided, there is sufficient time allotted for the process to occur.
  • Don’t Feel a Thing: Darkplate is extremely resistant to all forms of radiation, and in particular thermal radiation, offering terrific resistance to extreme temperatures, radiation (including EMP/ion), and more.
  • It Helps If…: Darkplate is inherently stealth-enhancing, working in concert with stealth technology to improve the effects of stealth fields, sound dampeners, and avoid sensors.
  • It Takes a Lot: Darkplate is incredibly resistant against kinetic damage, energy weapons (including disruptors), and even lightsaber-type weapons.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Might Need a Minute: Darkplate’s self-repairing ability requires time to fully ‘heal’ from any damage, and that time is proportionate to the scale of the damage inflicted. Therefore, very minor damage can be repaired in just a few minutes or hours, while medium-scale damage can take up to two-or-three days. For exceptionally serious damage, the self-repairing quality might not be enough to overcome the extent of the damage and will likely require a more dedicated repair process involving highly-skilled technicians, etc.
  • Quiet Please: Sonic weapons will find no resistance here, and this material offers no protection against them.
  • Force Matters: Darkplate does nothing to stop or even lessen the effects of Force-based attacks, be they physical or mental, Light or Dark.
  • At a Glance: While duraplast can offer some resistance to lightsaber-type weaponry, it isn’t the same as phrik or cortosis. Darkplate won’t stop much more than a few passing blows by a lightsaber, and not much against a direct attack at all.
DESCRIPTION
Darkplate is a polymer alloy, a tougher, more resilient form of duraplast really. It is able to take a great deal of punishment, and provided that punishment isn’t too great and that one has time, it can even heal itself. Darkplate’s able to stand up to all manner of potential damage, from energy weapons and even disruptors to virtually all forms of radiation, and in particular thermal radiation. It can take kinetic damage, even turning away vibroblades, shrapnel, flying dust and debris, and much more. So much more it can even resist two-or-three glancing blows from a lightsaber, Now, a precision strike, well, that’s a different story, and a short one in most cases.
Darkplate doesn’t do much at all when it comes to Force-based attacks or sonic weapons. In fact, it does nothing at all. Likewise, while it protects against caustic and corrosive substances like acids, it doesn’t have any sort of protection against biological threats such as weaponized venom gases or other similar attacks. It will hold up to ambient pressures, so it’s great for void warfare or use in diving suits, but a tensor-type weapon will make short work of it. No material, not even the strongest of polymer alloys – of which Darkplate is one – can protect against all things.
