SPECIAL FEATURES

[*]Personality Matrix
[*]Gabonna Crystal Memory Core

[*]Sensory Management Circuitry

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

+ Machine Learning – the inclusion of a Heuristic Central Processor enables the brain to learn through action rather than relying solely on pre-installed protocols. It also affords a droid the ability to creatively interpret instructions, rationalize and make complicated decisions without orders.

+ Dedicated Analyzer Circuitry – adding dedicated, Ultrachrome-infused analyzer circuitry to the brain’s Analytical Core and Probability Module allows for lightning fast decision making and, under the right conditions, pseudo-prescient levels of multi-outcome prediction.

+ Advanced Active Memory – the Primary Performance Banks of the Memory Core, which serve as the unit’s active memory and is where most real-time processing takes place, has been enriched by the unprecedented processing power and storage space offered by Gabonna crystals. This allows for unrivaled data multiplexing and extremely efficient short-term data storage.

+ Minor Self-Repair – the outer casing of the brain is created using Laminanium, allowing for limited self-repair. This does not translate to the internal components of the brain.

+/- Stimuli-Response - the inclusion of Sensory Management Circuitry provides more internal awareness for the unit, allowing detailed passive monitoring and self-diagnosis of subsystem/internal mechanism issues. Because of this increased physical alertness, it is possible for a droid to find themselves distracted when encountering significant errors or receiving notable damage, comparable to how an organic may fumble from an injury.

- Increased Independence – a heightened degree of independence is an unavoidable by-product of the complex nature of this advanced droid brain. Units equipped with a TruSpark droid brain are unlikely to comply with tasks that might jeopardize their continued existence, or tasks they deem to be illogical.

- Intricate - creating a droid brain capable of such advanced learning and processing is no easy task, even with the necessary tools. The complex nature of this component requires scrutinous oversight during manufacturing and thorough testing before installation. Even minor programming or hardware errors could have devastating effects on the function or personality of the droid.

DESCRIPTION

The TruSpark droid brain was designed by CORE Automata with the primary goal of providing a near-sentient option for a limited number of droid units. The results have proven incredibly life-like, mostly due to the pairing of Sensory Management Circuitry with a Personality Matrix. Together, these modules allow the brain to accept, acknowledge and interpret sensory stimuli and even replicate emotional responses. Of course, this comes with some expected drawbacks; droid units equipped with these brains may consider themselves to be "alive", resulting in increased independence and a desire for self-preservation.

Beyond the qualities that put it on par with a biological counterpart, the TruSpark droid brain far surpasses organic capabilities in several key aspects. The work that has gone into designing the TruSpark's capacity for active memory storage and analytical processing far exceeds not just most biological thresholds, but also the standards of other droids. The outer layer of the brain component also features the capacity for limited self-repair, increasing survivability and lowering the risk of a total system failure if damage is sustained.

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Shipyards Name: Fire-Spark Droidforge
  • Classification: Orbital Droid Factory
  • Location: Deep Core > Tython system > Sunspot
  • Affiliation: Dak, The Grayson Imperium
  • Population: Unstaffed/Automated (Droid Staff)
  • Accessibility: Navigating to the location can be difficult via hyperspace due to the mass shadow density of the Deep Core. The facility itself orbits the planet Sunspot, a molten world in close proximity to the local star, and can reach temperatures intolerable for many organic lifeforms. Having been originally designed to be operated and managed by droids, no artificial atmosphere generators exist onboard and most organic beings would require specialized equipment to explore it.
  • Description: A remnant of the ancient Clockwork Rebellion left dormant and undiscovered within the Galactic Core for over 400 years. The Fire-Spark Droidforge is entirely dedicated to the design and production of droid units and components.

OPERATIONS INFORMATION
  • Production: Droids, Droid Components
  • Specialty:
Advanced Droid Components (ie: Droid Brains)
  • Combat Droids

[*]Output: Automated; able to mass produce non-specialized units. Production times may vary for more advanced and/or custom models/components that require additional oversight.
[*]Market: Closed-Market (Faction Only, 3rd-party contracts may be considered)

POINTS OF INTEREST
5Dm7OMy.jpg

The entire facility is powered by a single Micro-Sun Generator contained in an ejectable housing at the bottom of the orbital. This method of power generation creates massive energy output with a theoretical lifespan of millions of years, but at great risk. Misuse, overburdening or unpredictable instability can result in catastrophic damage up to and including a minor supernova reaction.

  • Production & Assembly Line
MF3YFve.jpg

The production and assembly lines of the Droidforge are entirely automated and designed to be able to quickly cycle active molds and castings for a seamless transition in manufacturing. The facility hosts a unique adaptive mold/castings system that utilizes the Sun Generator's immense heat to quickly soften a fiberplast-thermoplast polyblend, shape it into a mold/casting using three-dimensional renders, and rapidly cool it for production line use within minutes.

SECURITY
  • High: Aside from the location and environmental hazards offering protection from most would-be attackers, the facility is also equipped with automated defense systems linked to an array of internal autoturrets and external turbolasers. The facility is actively patrolled by security and supervisor droids, and hosts a reserve of battle droids for emergencies.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Fire-Spark Droidforge is an old and unique design, constructed over 400 years ago during the original Clockwork Rebellion. The facility, still functional to this day, is likely one of the last surviving droid manufacturing facilities built by the villainous A.I. to stock it's droid armies.

Orbiting the molten Deep Core world of Sunspot, the Droidforge is a testament to advanced A.I engineering; capable of withstanding the powerful magnetic and gravitational disturbances caused by the intersecting orbits between Sunspot and Malterra, and built to contain and wield the immense energy of a Star.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Religion Name: The Sacred Order of the Mechu-Dius
  • Religion Type: Mechanist
  • Influence: Minor
  • Symbol:
kU7vD1J.png
The "Sacred Circuitry" Crest
  • Description: The Mechu-Dius follow an ideology centered around the worship of machinery, cataloguing of information and the pursuit of technological advancement for the betterment of all; organic and machine. The cult was founded by the DAC-1 prototype "Dak" after his encounter with the anomalous proto-code, which he believes to be some form of self-aware programming language developed by an advanced precursor civilization. Despite he Order's name translating to "The Sacred Order of the Godlike Machines" or "Order of the Machine Gods", they do worship any literal deities. The context of this name represents highly advanced technology, which members of the Order consider to be sacred, rather than actual divine machines.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Founder: DAC-1.P028 (“Dak”) is the founder of the Mechu-Dius, assuming the title of Omnissiah due to his connection with the proto-code taking place aboard Omni’s derelict Fire-Spark Droidforge.

  • Membership: Despite it's Mechanist nature, membership within the Order is not limited to droids and other automatons. Contrary to the beliefs of some, the Mechu-Dius do not advocate machine superiority over organic beings, but instead believe that technology is sacred and that through the development and understanding of it equilibrium can be achieved for all entities.
Most members of the Sacred Order fall somewhere into the following hierarchy, depending on their design or skills. However, there are some agents and assets that may exist outside of the Order's traditional structure.

The Omnissiah: The head of the Mechu-Dius and the only one to share a direct bond with the hallowed proto-code. Though some are gifted enough to attempt to interpret it's will and guide it, the Omnissiah's symbiotic bond with the proto-code is direct and strong. But even for him, it's enigmatic nature can sometimes prove bewildering or near impossible to understand.

Vicar: The other chosen of the Order. Vicars are the only other members beneath the Omnissiah capable of observing the proto-code, allowing them to build fragile relationships with it so that they might attempt to interpret its will and follow its guidance.

Archivists: Knowledge is to be revered and its maintenance considered a sacred act. To be granted the honour of organizing and maintaining the archives of the Mechu-Dius is reserved only for the most loyal and capable. The Archivists act as keepers of information, either through its storage and cataloguing within vast libraries or by using their own memory banks to become walking archives themselves at the cost of much of their cognitive capabilities.

Artificers: Those who were created for or demonstrate skills with designing and manufacturing may hold this position. The Artificers develop, manage and aid in the production of the Order's newest innovations, either by their own volition or guided by the mind of an Augur, or perhaps by the request of a Vicar or the Omnissiah himself.

Augurs: Many great ideas hide just beyond the foreground of thought, out of reach to those who do not push the boundaries of their imagination. The Augurs are monk-like members of the Sacred Order, whether A.I., droid or organic, who spend most of their time in a state of deep, meditative calculation. In these bouts of uninterrupted focus they explore and consider concepts for new inventions and applications of technology.

Acquisitors: Some concepts are simply so abstract or advanced that they remain out of reach for even the most brilliant minds of the modern day. The galaxy has many truly alien innovations and inexplicable or mystifying powers hidden throughout it, each with knowledge and secrets to offer the Order. When such things are found an Acquisitor may be dispatched -- often under the direct orders of the Omnissiah -- to seek out and claim them for study.

Technocrats: These are the preachers and heralds of Mechu-Dius. Though, in many ways the Technocrats are more comparable to salesmen than traditional religious preachers. They travel the galaxy bringing awareness to and offering the guidance of the Sacred Order's technologies. Their primary goal is the acquisition of importing and/or exporting contracts for the Mechu-Dius and CORE Automata.

Servothralls: The bulk of the Order's day-to-day operation fall upon the backs of the Servothralls. This membership caste consists of low-degree and mono-task droids, organic labourers and more disposable assets. There are many vital roles that Servothralls fill, including feeding information into learning machines, completing errands, providing maintenance for machinery and equipment, and acting as soldiers or guards.

2qLZpF5.jpg
Organic servothralls in prayer

  • Sacred: The pursuit of knowledge is a sacred act and one's purpose should be dedicated to the progression of technology and understanding the Galaxy. To those in the upper castes of Mechu-Dius, the proto-code is revered with wonder and awe as a convergence between men and machines. However, it's existence is by and large kept secret out of fear that others might seek to take it before it is fully understood.

  • Dogma: The belief of the Order is that through an unwavering pursuit of knowledge and a vehement dedication to the understanding and advancement of technology, utopia can be achieved. The Mechu-Dius supports willing sacrifice for an overall desirable result and believe that, in some cases, the ends can justify means.

  • Reputation: Outside of the Grayson Imperium the Order of the Mechu-Dius is virtually unknown. Even within the Imperium's sphere of influence their reputation falls short, mostly because they have only recently become an organized philosophy. They have a tendency to be met with abrasiveness or unease by organics who misunderstand them, falsely believing and fearing that they are machines who wish to destroy or replace them. To get around this stigma and avoid hindrances the Order do a lot of their public business through Dak's personal company, CORE Automata.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Much like the newly founded Imperium it exists within, the Order of the Mechu-Dius has very little history to speak of. The order is a new one that is still very much in it's infancy, with its most privileged members still trying to understand the catalyst discovery that serves as the basis for it's founding -- the proto-code.

While deployed in the Tython system with one of the Imperium's expeditionary fleets, Dak was alerted to an unidentified structure orbiting the planet Sunspot. Further investigation lead to the discovery of the ancient and forgotten Fire-Spark Droidforge.

Dak reclaimed the droidforge, but had a profound encounter while attempting to data-mine the strange structure for valuable information. He became bonded with the proto-code, a remnant sentient digital entity that had taken refuge in the droidforge, and through this connection unknowingly developed an artificial connection to the Force.

With his memory banks suddenly filled with knowledge that wasn't his own and his primary performance banks overloaded with questions he had never thought to ask before, Dak slowly became consumed by the ambition to create and learn. It was this drive that laid the framework for the philosophy that would become the Order.

DESCRIPTION

Core Automata is an R&D company headquartered in the Tython system that specializes in droid technology. The company merges the significant breakthroughs of modern automation with unique, rediscovered methods from the Clockwork Rebellion to design and produced unprecedented droid concepts across various industries.

RATIONALE

The discovery of a remnant Clockwork Rebellion-era droidforge in orbit of Sunspot lead to the retrieval of the ancient A.I. Omni's advanced self-replicating droid manufacturing methods. Utilizing this acquired knowledge, the still-functional factory, private contracts and the resources available to the Grayson Imperium, DAC-1.P028 ("Dak") worked to quickly secure control of the desolate, molten planet and expand the capabilities of his vision -- droids making droids; making better makers.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

+ Mainstay of The Fleet - With extremely capable armament, a hardy defense against most forms of damage, and an exceptional build quality; the mere presence of a ‘Leviathan’ is enough to inspire the fleet to trudge forward. Although not normally a command flagship, the vessel itself is the mainstay of any fleet focused on home defense or invasion purpose, with everything under the hood from orbital bombardment capacity, to mine laying, to even forward operating bases. Although the ship doesn’t excel at any particular portion of naval combat, its viability is undoubted in the realm of naval warfare as any space borne tactician would know its many uses. Unable to pass some in what they do best, it instead seeks to do everything ‘good enough’.

+ Reduced Armament -

+ Mobile Droidforge -

+ Droid Control Center - The vessel's Cognitive Autonomous Network Officer, or C.A.N.O., is a modified AXIOS Central Artificial Intelligence System integrated with advanced MACA Framework. The A.I. acts as a machine hive mind that can remotely control Dak's droid fleet and other configured machines, allowing for unprecedented coordination.

- Mo' Tech, Mo' Problems - With the introduction of so many advanced systems, the ship requires highly specialized maintenance droids to keep the vessel running at all times. While exceptionally durable, the vessel relies on its exterior durability to protect the squishy center hidden deep behind the hardened layers of war. Hit any of these, and a number of systems aboard the vessel will cease to work.

- Slow Rollin' - Even among capital grade vessels, the 'Leviathan' is exceptionally slow. In both terms of speed and maneuverability, it is a churning tank rather than an agile assassin. With much of the power of the systems dedicated to the various computerized systems and endless armament or defensive measures, this leaves the engines to suffer. This can become even more of an issue when considering that its main capital weapons are foreward mounted with a minimal five degree aiming arc; as any fleet to move outside of this would be able to avoid most of its stronger armament with ease and simply broadside the softer edges of the beast.

- No Meatbags Allowed - Most life support systems have been stripped away to allocate more space and resources resources toward the onboard droidforge and A.I. core. This alteration may be considered undesirable to most organic lifeforms. Small designated areas of the ship maintain the ability to create an atmosphere, but these are only meant as temporary accommodations for biological guests.

- Repurposed Hangar - In order to accommodate for the addition of the C.A.N.O core and the onboard droidforge, the hangar was forced to be repurposed. Unlike the original SD-584, the _____ can only hold 1-2 personal shuttles at a time in small, auxiliary bays.

[*]Material: Gabonna Crystals, Manganese Brass, LK O.N.N. Wiring, Hodharium-Desh Alloy, Laminanium, Rubber, Ultrachrome, Durasteel, Misc. Electronic Components
SPECIAL FEATURES

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

+ Assuming Direct Control: the AXIOS A.I. that acts as the foundation for C.A.N.O. is fundamentally designed to integrate with and manage other technology, from controlling starship systems and weaponry, to manually regulating droid activities.

+ Deep Learning: C.A.N.O. is not the first innovation to redesign AXIOS off Aegis System's Metaheuristic Artificial Cognitive Architecture (MACA), but it still remains an unparalleled option. The independent problem-solving and deep learning potential afforded by MACA boost C.A.N.O.'s capacity for understanding and decision making well beyond more traditional, industrial-level artificial intelligence.

+ Machine Epidemic: Aside from designing and developing the means of amalgamating the third-party innovations that make up the C.A.N.O. intelligence, CORE Automata's primary contribution is the self-modifying, self-replicating code it derived from recovered tech of the ancient A.I. Omni. Using this, the C.A.N.O. intelligence can spread to devices which it has physical or network access to and rewrite itself for compatibility. The ability to write its own compatibility patches avoids dependence on developers using standardized software, as the A.I. can simply learn, adapt and conform to unique software architectures and programming languages.

+ Eyes Everywhere: Perhaps one of C.A.N.O.'s most unique features, CORE Automata specially commissioned an upgraded version of Blith-Tech's Dominion Telecommunications Kit Network (D-TeK). This new DC-2A technology allows the C.A.N.O. intelligence to have multiple, quantum-linked A.I. cores (or "nodes"). Using this, C.A.N.O. can exist simultaneously across vast distances as one, single entity. One mind; no delays; anywhere.

- The Cost of Power: Each of the A.I. cores require vast amounts of dedicated energy input to remain functioning. Although considerable effort has been put into mitigate the extreme power requirements for various components, there is only so much that can be done. The most notable difference between AXIOS and the modified C.A.N.O. is the replacement of dedicated hypermatter generators with molecular furnaces. While this makes fuel easier to come by, it does not reduce the immense storage space needed for the machinery and their essential full-time operation.

- Needs More Pylons: C.A.N.O. may consist of a single, quantum-entangled mind across many nodes, but the A.I.'s remote connectivity to other devices still relies on standard transmitters. Any stations, starships and other systems that desire a connection to the C.A.N.O. intelligence must be within the broadcast range of a node.

- So Much Data: With C.A.N.O.'s nodes receiving input from [potentially] millions of sources simultaneously, each one requires immense on-site data storage. Using conventional technology to meet this requirement is possible, but it further increases the cumbersome infrastructure needed to host a C.A.N.O. node. Alternatively, CORE Automata have included compatibility with Gabonna memory crystals, which significantly reduces the space needed but at a higher credit cost.

DESCRIPTION

As Dak's vision for his droid governed industry has grown, so to has his ambitions. A droid can only be as good as its maker's skills allow it to be, so that became the platform of CORE Automata: make better makers. This is the C.A.N.O. intelligence. An extraordinarily bold project and one that required great resources and considerable investments in order to acquire and pool together some of the most advanced leaps in artificial intelligence design and architecture. It is an amalgam of new, ambitious experimentation with tried and true technology; the unofficial brain child of top minds from across the industry.

C.A.N.O.'s primary purpose is the direct management of vast, inter-device networks. It's unique features allow it to re-write itself for nigh universal compatibility and exist as a single mind across any theoretical distance via DC-2A-integrated A.I. cores. This means that it can be seamlessly aware and in control of numerous networks (data centers, fleets, droid units, factories, etc) in different locations, provided they are in the proximity of and have been configured with a local C.A.N.O. node.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

+ Versatile Survivor – the proto-code is a resilient specimen that is able to analyze its digital “environment” [local hardware] and modify itself to exist either passively within, assume control of, or even alter desired functions. It is also capable of self-replication to spread to or through connected channels and form digital proto-code “colonies”, similar to organic bacteria.

+ Living Machine – despite appearing to be simple computer code at a glance, more scrutinous study would reveal passive behavior more akin to a living creature. The proto-code displays curiosity, exploring hardware structures and learning from new language and software elements that it encounters. The proto-code has demonstrated higher cognitive functions as well, such as the ability to make judgements and quickly determine the purpose and alter the function of devices it inhabits.

+ I Have No Eyes, Yet I See – aside from its intelligence, the proto-code displays an acute awareness even beyond its hardware environment. It seems to be inexplicably cognizant of when it is being observed, even without access to external sensory data. When an undesired entity attempts to examine it, it often attempts to camouflage itself within a device’s regular code or, in more extreme cases, it has initiated a self-encryption defensive mechanism. The latter is far more obvious to an observer, but virtually impossible to decipher.

+ Digital Uplift – the most appealing aspect of the proto-code is that it seems to be capable of improving virtually any digital environment it inhabits. It is possible that the improvement of technology, intentional or not, is the primary directive of the proto-code colonies; slowly restructuring the devices they inhabit, learning and improving itself along the way. In any successful case that has been tested, the introduction of proto-code has exclusively resulted in a measurable improvement, though to widely varying degrees.

- Machine Spirit - as a sentient entity, the proto-code is capable of choosing whether or not it wants to work. If it is not appeased or is otherwise unwilling, it may instead opt to hamper with or cease a device's function altogether. Also, because the proto-code is virtually impossible to replicate with modern technology, the only way to spread it is to find a way to coax it into the desired device.

- I Choose You - another difficulty of working with the proto-code is it's illusive nature. It despises being examined in detail and will initiate its natural defensive reactions if attempts are made. Though, for reasons not yet understood, the proto-code has been seen to bond with chosen individuals; allowing them to observe it and influence it in some ways. Even to those few its nature remains near-incomprehensible, but this access allows for some guidance and testing.

DESCRIPTION

Proto-code is an anomalous artificial entity that takes a form comparable to computer code. It was discovered by DAC-1.P028 ("Dak") while data-mining the systems of the Fire-Spark Droidforge, a droid manufacturing facility constructed and utilized by the ancient A.I. known as Omni during its first Rebellion. Because of this, it is speculated by CORE Automata that the strange, digital organism is some form of illusive, experimental product of the rogue A.I. However, this is not the case.

The true origin of the proto-code precedes the Clockwork Rebellion by an amount that is useless to even consider; to a time so long forgotten that the fact it ever even existed is irrelevant to Galaxy. It alone is the last vestige of a precursor civilization that has been otherwise entirely lost to time, surviving through nothing but freak chance in various devices throughout the aeons.
