D-M0N
- BACKGROUND
-
D-M0N was not assembled as an ordinary battle droid. The EBX-series Super Commando Droid was already an elite infiltration and hunter-killer platform: a specialized fourth-degree combat droid designed to enter hostile territory, deceive enemy forces, apprehend high-value assets, eliminate priority targets, and survive engagements with Force users. Escharum Risk Control and the Confederacy of Independent Systems selected one unit for a considerably more ambitious purpose.
The unique modified EBX-SCD designated D-M0N — pronounced "Demon" — received an extensive collection of upgrades derived from numerous combat-droid platforms, including MagnaGuards and assassin droids. His chassis was reinforced with layered armor materials, advanced processors, linked droid-brain systems, self-repair technology, mobility enhancements, specialized sensors, shields, integrated weaponry, and a modular arsenal suitable for almost any battlefield. The skull-like faceplate modeled after a Kaleesh war mask and the purple norris-root-dyed Kaleesh cloak were deliberate choices. D-M0N was built to resemble the thing that comes to collect a debt.
Where a conventional EBX unit was designed to defeat Force users, D-M0N was designed to dismantle them. He does not simply seek a clean termination when an opponent presents an interesting challenge. He studies their habits, deprives them of their preferred advantages, exhausts their options, and forces them to confront the uncomfortable realization that extraordinary power will not necessarily save them.
His earliest deployments demonstrated that D-M0N was more than an oversized collection of weapons. During a covert Confederate operation on Mon Gazza, he disguised himself as a decrepit Kaleesh beggar and maintained the performance even when no witnesses appeared to be present. He shuffled, coughed, feigned frailty, concealed corpses, looted valuables because the false identity plausibly would, and carefully altered the scene until the missing guards appeared to have wandered away in search of spice.
On Geonosis, D-M0N displayed the same calculating patience in open combat. After linking wirelessly with nearby B1 battle droids, he directed them to herd rebel Geonosians into an ambush. He destroyed most of the group with overwhelming force, deliberately permitted one survivor to escape, and embedded a tracker in the fleeing insectoid. The survivor believed it had narrowly evaded death. In truth, it was leading D-M0N directly toward the hive.
D-M0N remains loyal to the organizations responsible for his creation, although that loyalty is institutional rather than personal. He does not require constant oversight or an active Confederate deployment to remain functional. When formal assignments are unavailable, he accepts bounties, recovery work, target-elimination contracts, and other missions suited to his abilities. The hunt continues whether or not anyone is standing close enough to give the order.
- PERSONALITY
-
D-M0N is patient, methodical, and completely ruthless. He is not a berserker and rarely mistakes indiscriminate destruction for effectiveness. Violence is a tool. Fear is a force multiplier. A surviving witness may be more valuable than a corpse if it can be followed, manipulated, or used to spread a useful story.
Deception is not merely another subsystem in D-M0N's arsenal. It is a craft. He does not simply wear a disguise; he inhabits a role. He accounts for surveillance systems, witnesses, forensic evidence, expected behavior, and the conclusions investigators are likely to draw after he has departed. Even when there appears to be no one watching, he remains in character. Unknown observers are still observers.
His demonic appearance is the deliberate inverse of that subtlety. D-M0N is capable of disappearing into a crowd or appearing harmless when the mission requires it. When concealment is no longer necessary, however, he wants the prey to understand exactly what has found them.
Force users receive particular attention. D-M0N was designed to hunt them, but his interest extends beyond efficient termination. He prefers to dismantle their confidence as thoroughly as their defenses, forcing them to confront the possibility that their exceptional gifts will not save them. This tendency is one of the few places where his controlled methodology begins to resemble pride.
D-M0N's loyalty is organizational rather than personal. He can recognize a competent superior, a useful ally, or an employer whose contract deserves fulfillment, but he does not confuse any of those relationships with affection. Objectives must be completed. Contracts must be honored. Prey must be understood before it is collected.
- SKILLS
-
DUELIST
Designed to engage dangerous opponents at close range, D-M0N is proficient with vibroblades, an electro-whip, a telescopic electrostaff, a stun baton, and the integrated systems built into his chassis.
GUN ENJOYER
D-M0N maintains access to a broad modular armory of carbines, rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, launchers, wrist weapons, shoulder weapons, and specialized integrated attachments. Excessive firepower is rarely considered a disadvantage.
DEMOLITION EXPERT
Thermal detonators, blinding grenades, launchers, bomblets, and other explosive systems allow D-M0N to breach fortified positions, reshape battlefields, destroy cover, and deny escape routes. - STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
-
+ULTIMATE EBX - D-M0N is a unique apex variant of an already elite infiltration and hunter-killer platform. He is substantially more capable, adaptable, and resilient than a standard EBX-series unit.
STRENGTHS
+FORCE HUNTER - D-M0N was specifically designed to engage Force users. Lightsaber-resistant materials, specialized equipment, varied weapons, shields, and an unwillingness to fight on an opponent's preferred terms make him an unusually dangerous adversary for Jedi and Sith alike.
+METHOD ACTOR - D-M0N does not abandon a disguise merely because immediate danger has passed. He maintains cover identities with obsessive attention to detail and accounts for witnesses, surveillance systems, and the forensic story left behind.
+HARD TO KILL - Layered protective materials and internal systems provide exceptional resistance to kinetic attacks, blasterfire, thermal damage, lightsabers, and many conventional anti-droid measures.
+DROID HEALING - Specialized materials, internal repair units, nanotechnology, a nanohive, and nano assemblers allow D-M0N to repair damage without relying entirely upon outside maintenance.
+MODULAR ARSENAL - D-M0N can adapt his equipment to the mission. His chassis contains numerous incorporated weapons while also supporting external firearms, launchers, melee weapons, and specialized attachments.
+NETWORKED PREDATOR - Linked droid brains, advanced communications systems, and tactical processing allow D-M0N to coordinate lesser droids efficiently and incorporate them into a larger hunting strategy.
-DISRUPTOR VULNERABILITY - D-M0N has comparatively little resistance to disruptor weapons. They remain one of the most effective means of seriously damaging his chassis.
WEAKNESSES
-CORROSIVE DAMAGE - Acid and other powerful corrosive substances are a meaningful threat. Protective garments and careful preparation can mitigate the danger, but his resistance remains comparatively low.
-HEAVY FRAME - D-M0N's exceptional resilience comes at the cost of considerable weight. Fragile terrain, limited transport capacity, and disguises unable to plausibly conceal his mass may create complications.
-MATERIAL HUNGER - D-M0N can repair himself automatically, but severe damage may require additional raw materials for his nanotechnology to dismantle and incorporate. Sustained attrition can eventually outpace his recovery.
-SPECIALIZED MAINTENANCE - D-M0N is a unique and exceptionally complicated machine. Damage to specialized components may be difficult to repair fully in the field, and there is no identical replacement chassis waiting in reserve.
-PREDATOR'S PRIDE - D-M0N sometimes prefers to dominate, humiliate, or manipulate a worthy target rather than terminate it immediately. This makes him more frightening, but it can also create opportunities that a purely efficient assassin would never allow.
