Private Curiosity in Construction

The Jedi Temple was quiet.

Few sentients moved through the corridors, fewer still near the meditation chambers, and it was a nice change from the usual. Dressed in the traditional Jedi robes, as was his custom since joining the Jedi Order, the pale Nagai walked with near-silent steps. Jand regarded the hallway, the statues that lined the walls, which depicted Jedi of old and absently wondered if he might appear there in time.

Jand's intended destination was a particular meditation room, though not the typical sort for mindful introspective, but rather one for creation.

Construction, more accurately.

And as Jand neared the place he believed, he slowed and paused for a moment. He reached out with the Force, an exercise he had tried to improve on more routinely, and sought out the presence he desired. It didn't take long, there weren't many nearby, and the final room was specified to his mind. Without another thought, Jand walked over to the room door a dozen yards away and stood outside, as he reached up and knocked gently.

He didn't want to startle the other.

"I received your invitation," Jand said in a quiet tone, it seemed appropriate. "Hello."

Within the room, Jand's gray eyes regarded Daisy, as he offered a small smile to the white-haired Jedi...

The trip to Hurikane had been… not exactly more than one could have bargained for, but rather, nothing even remotely simple. Entering zones of the galaxy still marked by the effects of war, slavery, and genocide, displacement against the will of many, was never going to be a simple thing. But what had been a supply mission turned into more, and in the end had rewarded her with a large, brilliant amethyst crystal, a gift of the native peoples of Hurikane. She had been back from the mission for most of a week, and had been meditating on an ideal cut from that large crystal for most of the days since; now it was ready.

She had a number of components laid out - certainly more than she was going to end up using. She had been sourcing the components for a while, knowing that the time would come, but now that it was here, she still wasn’t certain what she wanted to go into the assembly. So it was a good thing that she would have someone to provide input.

Of course, when she sent the invitation in advance of going into her meditation, she had simply wanted a witness… but not her master. Another padawan. She wanted to share this with one of her peers. Preferably one that had gone through the process already, and could respect it.

And maintain silence when she needed to focus on the construction.

While it would have made sense to invite someone she could say she knew well enough, there was merit in extending the invitation to someone she only really was aware of, and wanted to know. It was hard to miss the fact that there was another padawan of the blade in her cohort; a Nagai, no less, which made Jand Talo even more of an interesting case, and the most likely to understand her full intentions for the lightsaber: to know it well, and have it be as much of an extension of her than the true blades she had wielded long by now.

And that Nagai was here. She looked up at the sound of the knock from where she sat at the table, turning over part of the outer housing, a piece forged out of songsteel from the same batch as her existing blades. Peering at the pale face, the head topped with dark hair. Almost her opposite, but she was pink.

“Hello,” she replied with a tip of her head in a light, gentle voice, returning his smile with a faint one of her own. “Please, join me,” she indicated the table in general, not having a preference for where he might choose to sit.

Of all the places in the Jedi Temple, the forging section was probably Jand's favorite, after the training rooms.

The sheer amount of construction materials available made it an engineering wonderland, with an assortment of ores, metals, components, all for use in creating a range of personal items. The most common use was for lightsabers, naturally, but there had been word about enterprising Jedi crafting all manner of things. Perhaps one day Jand would use the forging rooms for a special project, but for the moment that wasn't the focus of the visit, as Daisy motioned to join her within.

Jand nodded. He stepped inside, approached the table, and sat down opposite his fellow Padawan. His gray eyes scanned over the assorted gathering of materials, before he glanced at the outer housing of what appeared to be the beginnings of a lightsaber hilt. Given what was laid out neatly on the table, Jand could only assume Daisy sought to craft a weapon - but, it never hurt to clarify...

"It seems you aim to construct a lightsaber," Jand asked, his voice low, so as to not disturb the peacefulness of the room. "I believed you had already created your personal weapon?"

Curious.

Perhaps something had changed, perhaps Daisy had gained some insight into a better design or sought to alter things.

The last time the pair had been relatively close had been during the events of Ilum, previous to the stormtrooper attack. And while Jand had not taken particularly close notice of Daisy's weaponry, he could recall some level of custom element to the hilt, at least in passing recall. Though it was entirely possible the Nagai was wrong, and he had just misidentified a more elaborate training lightsaber.

Still, it was intriguing to have been invited to join the pink-skinned Padawan. The process for construction of a weapon had seemed personal to many, though from what Jand had been told through his temple lessons, it wasn't uncommon for another - or more - to be present to observe the event.

Whatever the reason, Jand was interested to see what would happen and why he had been invited...
