Location : Tingel Arm | Aboard the Saegassum | Dante Castillon Dante Castillon | Xin Boa Xin Boa

Long travels through hyperspace made people insane.

Or so she had been told.

Delila didn't see it. It was typical to spend weeks at a time in hyperspace depending on their cargo and travel schedule. Hell, she had even seen the ragged edge of the universe. It just looked like more black nothing. Frankly she thought it was a cry for attention from people who were bored. Who didn't keep a regular schedule on board. Someone who had no hobbies or crew to speak of. Sure, when one didn't occupy their days in hyperspace it was easy to get lost, to lose track of not only time but also oneself.

"WRONG!" Skreech yelled out, munching on nerf jerky on her shoulder, both her and the monkey-lizard sharing the same bag. As the creature yelled, bits of now slimy jerky spittle coating the Jj'abot board.

Just another board game night on the Saegassum.

"Skreech, you can't just yell every time Dante is wrong. This isn't Squidly we're talking about, he seems to be learning a little faster."

Brak hissed with laughter as she nudged Xin's shoulder, the Nautolan sitting next to her as they tried to get through the game of pawns and knights strategically chasing one another around the board. Dells took another piece of jerky from the bag for herself and Skreech. When she and Xin had first got together, the monkey-lizard was a bit stand-offish until the pair had thought Xin was killed some years ago, quickly becoming fast friends during that time period. Skreech repaid their friendship now by perching on her shoulder, eating jerky, and screaming in her ear.

Dells was convinced she had mild hearing loss now.

"Its only parallel moves on this board according to the rules. Just push your piece back before Skreech has a heart attack."

Suddenly the Saegassum came to a skidding halt dead out of hyperspace. Items crashed to the floor, the lights flickering before returning to normal power. Little did they know, the Ring of Rapture pulled them from their travels, leaving the crew drifting near a massive black hole.

Silence for a moment, Xin and Brak would automatically hit the cockpit.

"Dante, come with me, lets hit the guns just in case."

And...here...we...go...
Turning from his plan to eviscerate the Monkey Lizard verbally he nodded as he Aunt suggested the guns. He was up and sliding into the seat of the gun emplacement before Dells had reached her, youth and pluck lending him speed. Flicking switches, he put on a headset and began to scan the surrounding spaces, noting... Well... Nothing... He radioed as much through the headset, with a curious waver to his voice. Blockades, a battle, a distressed ship, purrgill even would make sense... Nothing made none tough...

"Oh no, we'll never know where the pieces had been..." went Xin. He had been on the ropes and Skreech would have been insufferable for a good twenty minutes before he completely forgot about it.

"It'll be that damned gravometric safety switch again, it's on the way out..." Xin muttered.

For many years he had decided that Fate was determined to ruin his life. Now he knew that bad shit happened to everyone and he just needed to have people around him to deal with it.

Xin rushed to the cockpit.

"Oh..." his voice came over the intercom. "...it was the safety switch but it's working."

A line image started to display the local spacetime. The gravity well went deep and kept getting deeper. Suddenly, the curviture of the well went straight down. A planet or a star would have been a simple, shallow curve.

"Dats a black hole."

Having Dante on guns meant she could meander a little, spend more time looking at scans rather than having to worry about getting blown out of the sky. To be fair, if something large enough could pull them out of hyperspace then it was large enough to easily kill them.

Hand depressed a button so she could speak on the intercom.

"Can't shoot our way out of a black hole. Looks like something is surrounding it too, which is odd. Makes no sense....I'd say get closer but if stuff is broken..."

Dells ambled away from the turret, back into the hallway and down to the cockpit, calling out to talk as she did so.

"How screwed are we Xin? As in, how rapidly are we drifting to that black hole and what should be my concern level?"

Gaze turned to Dante.

"See if you can find anything about this black hole or anything in this region unusual. Ship wrecks, forcer activity, any anomalies that may have received some chatter on the holonet..."
