- The front of the breastplate features a small indention in which the Talisman of Heart and Soul can be socketed and secured for use in battle, acting just as effectively as if it was worn around the neck.
- The breastplate is also decorated with ornate runes and inscriptions in the ancient Sith Language, serving no real functionality other than for the wearer's preferred aesthetic. Many of the inscriptions are merely prominent words translated from Basic to Sith, but in a circular ring around the Talisman socket is one that truly stands out among the others. It reads: Tave viekis dary kam tau valia, ir tave skystas kesti kam tau nayir. <<The strong do what they will, and the weak suffer what they must.>> These words form the creed of House Zambrano.
- Imperviousness: Like anything tempered with Sith Alchemy, the breastplate is completely resistant to energy-based attacks, specifically the plasma blade of a lightsaber. The properties imbued into the metal also make it stronger and reverses its magnetic polarity, turning it into a high-temperature superconductor that could deflect blaster bolts and other particle weapons as if magnetically sealed.
- Focus of Dark Side Energy: Everything that went into crafting the breastplate was enhanced by the Dark Side of the Force, not only giving it its aforementioned imperviousness but also allowing the wearer to focus their dark energy through the armor, amplifying their power and refining their control. In conjunction with other artifacts and objects of power, it makes any who wear it a dangerous combatant.
- Weight: The major drawback of using Sith Alchemy to craft such a piece of armor is that it often doubles, or even triples, the weight it would've weighed if made by conventional means. To those who are used to wearing heavy armor, this usually is not such a big deal, but the mere strain of wearing it can easily become a burden in prolonged engagements.
- Kinetic Energy: While the breastplate is fantastic at mitigating and outright nullifying energy from lightsabers and modern blaster rifles, it doesn't do much in the way of softening kinetic energy from slugthrowers or other ballistic weapons. Naturally padding is required underneath the armor, but otherwise the breastplate offers no extra protection in that department.
Darth Carnifex, Dark Lord of the Sith and Butcher King, has been an experienced alchemist for many decades. The first inklings of the craft were introduced to him nineteen years ago by his master, [member="Daxton Bane"], and were expounded upon by his acquisition of the Holocron of Belia Darzu. He pilfered its secrets and absorbed its knowledge before honing his craft within his private smithies on Thule and later Panatha, crafting increasingly masterful works of armor and weapons before dabbling in the creation of monsters. Often the Dark Lord had preferred to use armor fashioned out of phrik armor plating to defend himself, but as his power increased he found himself more hindered by such heavy armor than anything else and gradually began to discard such protective clothing.
However, he still worked to create an impervious piece of armor to protect his torso and vital organs from the lightsabers of the Jedi. He toiled day and night at his smithies, pouring his hatred and cruelty into ever blow delivered by his hammer to infuse the armor with his own wickedness. At the end of his long and grueling task the Dark Lord had crafted a magnificent work of insidious art, ornate with Sith inscriptions and radiating with the power of the Dark Side.
