SUITS AND PROFIT MARGINS
NAR SHADDAA
902 ABY

epGeEZT.png

Nar Shaddaa has always been a city that understands abandonment.

Empires rise, treaties collapse, and institutions wither the moment the credits stop flowing.

With Etti IV cast aside and the Corporate Sector Authority left politically homeless, the Smuggler's Moon offers something other ecumenopoli could not: relevance.

In New Vertica—a longstanding independent sector—neon corporate towers loom over the lower skylanes. Colorful advertisements flicker against smog-choked skies, and private security cordons carve out islands of order amid the chaos. It is here that the wayward CSA seeks to plant its roots. The soil is fertile, the markets are ripe, and the people are hungry for a little… structure.

Black Sun has opened its doors not out of charity, but pragmatism. If the CSA is to survive, it will do so here, where influence is quantified, compliance is enforced, and contracts are backed by organizations that do not require courts to function.

Welcome to Nar Shaddaa!

This is the first thread in an ongoing arc that will marry the Corporate Sector Authority and Code Zero minor factions to the Black Sun Syndicate as official subfactions. The vision is to build up Nar Shaddaa as a corporate paradise in Hutt Space, where your companies can build offices, factories, facilities, and more—all without the tedious oversight of the more bureaucratic, morally sound galactic governments.

It is my ultimate hope that corporate RP, corrupt political RP, and good ole cyberpunk RP can live harmoniously within Black Sun's plug-and-play/drop-in, drop-out nature. So if you're interested in building a corporate presence on Nar Shaddaa, enjoying the perks of operating in Hutt Space, exploring the grimy streets of the Smuggler's Moon, or trying to take it all down with your slicing kit, this thread—and those to come!—are perfect for you. And the best part? You can come and go as you please!

Side note in closing: If I mis-tagged you as being on either the corpo or CZ objective and you intended to join the other, ignore the OP tag list and just jump in where you fit best! And if you missed the LFG but still want to join, send me a DM and we'll get you sorted for the thread :D

OBJECTIVE 1: A Seat at the Table
LOCATION: Benevolence Tower, New Vertica
TO THE ATTENTION OF: Corpos & Benefactors

Fv7dIMK.png

A cabal of executives, directors, fixers, and corporate envoys gather in a glass-walled conference suite at the top of Benevolence Tower to take stock of what remains of the CSA.

Some are old blood corpos who fled Etti when the Authority collapsed, but many are new suits seeking ground-floor opportunities with what shall become a reborn Corporate Sector right here in Hutt Space. There will be those who seek direct membership in the CSA, who will put forth an officer of their own for a seat on the Direx Board; some will prefer to align business interests without complete representation; others are merely curious observers, here to see what will come of this little meeting.

As prospective corpos enter and find their seats, the are welcomed by ExO Castor Crane Castor Crane and his de facto deputy, Viktor Sylvain Viktor Sylvain . The talks are underway nearly immediately. Discussion turns toward structure, jurisdiction, security, and the price of legitimacy on Nar Shaddaa. Alliances will be tested, rivals sized up, and new hierarchies quietly proposed. Whether the CSA emerges reborn, rebranded, or reshaped into something sharper depends on who controls the conversation and who fronts the credits backing it.

OBJECTIVE 2: Ghosts in the Machine
LOCATION: The Cluster, Nar Shaddaa Undercity
TO THE ATTENTION OF: Code Zero & BSS

Fv7dIMK.png

Beyond the polished floors and filtered air, a different kind of meeting unfolds.

Code Zero operatives and Black Sun enforcers cross paths at the Cluster, a Devaronian bar infamous for underworld activities where privacy is enforced by reputation alone. Here, both sides recognize familiar instincts: a reliance on deniability, a preference for leverage over ideology, and an understanding that systems are meant to be exploited, not revered.

Conversations drift easily from shared enemies to overlapping methods—surveillance, infiltration, quiet removals, and the monetization of chaos—revealing how thin the line has become between syndicate muscle and corporate black ops. As drinks are poured and names are carefully avoided, old prejudices give way to mutual pragmatism. Nar Shaddaa does not reward purity of purpose, only effectiveness, and in the low light of the Cluster, it becomes clear that whatever comes next on the Smuggler's Moon will be built by people who already think alike, whether they admit it or not.

For a company that didn't make anything of significance yet on the Galactic Market, Galactic Syndicated was suspiciously wealthy. Rumors had circulated that the Chairwoman had received a considerable donation from the Galactic Empire, something which was denied of course by the Imperial Government.

Whether this wealth was tied up in real estate or liquidated assets, it mattered little as they received an invitation to a meeting on Nar Shaddaa about the expansion of the Corporate Sector Authority into Black Sun holdings. Mamo found the whole situation quite ironic as she walked slowly down the corridor, wondering why a legitimate business would consider establishing a market in a criminal stronghold.

The insurance costs would skyrocket, and employees would demand compensation for laboring in such a dangerous environment. Money earned...only to be lost when the paychecks were eventually distributed.

Still ExO Castor Crane Castor Crane was a smart when it came to business and surely had some market research on hand to settle any concerns that were brought to the conference table. Speaking of said conference, the middle aged woman entered the meeting chamber quietly, without much spectacle or the presence of bodyguards.

She pulled out a sleek, polished durasteel plaque bearing her name and the company she represented. A true executive would never permit anyone to assume his rank and title, as that would create an imbalance of power.

“Benevolence” Tower was perhaps the least accurate name for a building full of corporate executives looking to sink their teeth into Nar Shaddaa, but Viktor was nothing if not a fan of foreboding irony.

He wore an expensive double-breasted suit of his own design, a sleek black ensemble made from a proprietary blend of baffleweave and satyn. It gave the Energy Vampire a crisp, authoritative look as he settled in among the other corpos. On his lapel was an enamel pin bearing the crest of the Corporate Sector Authority, a gift recently bestowed upon him by Castor Crane Castor Crane hinself before the pair departed from Denon. Viktor found it rather gauche, but he was supportive nonetheless. After all, this was not the first time ExO Crane had tested the waters on a new world after Etti became too hostile for corporatocracy.

Denon was Crane’s first pick, a natural one that Viktor had initially agreed with. After the Planeshift freed his homeworld from the bureaucratic nightmare of existing in Alliance space, Viktor believed a swift and decisive establishment of a new corporate order would secure Denon’s sovereignty and independence. Unfortunately, the ecumenopolis traded Alliance oversight for the meddling of Naboo royalty. It was a different Senate, but the same shit, as the kids would say.

Unwilling to bend and twist at the behest of foreign kings, the CSA sought a more flexible hub for its members. One that not only offered near-limitless opportunities, but stood stalwartly against the growing bloat of the Republic: Nar Shaddaa.

Now here, seated in a New Vertica board room, Viktor represented himself and Sylvain Emporium as signatory members of the reconstituted Corporate Sector Authority. His crimson eyes, dimmed by a pair of tinted spectacles, glowed softly as he took note of the other arrivals. Many large corporations from all over the galaxy had sent CEOs and directors. Viktor wondered how many would sign the holodoc, and how many would walk away from such a unique opportunity.

OBJECTIVE I.
" A Seat at the Table "

It's funny how these things work. If you were to ask Wulf or Sularen what was the difference between the Galactic Empire and Imperial Confederation they might just talk your ear off about how the other side were corrupt and they were not. Yet, as Eirys found her way into the Benevolence Tower, she was aware that, at least in the form of the latter, there is a corruptive element amid the Imperial remnants who did not join Emperor Fossk on Imperial Centre. They also happened to be Eirys partners.

Galactic Syndicate were not the only ones rife with rumours. Indeed, Santhe Corporation had been the recipient of donations disguised in the form of several loans from a discreet non-profit which had come to be after the economic collapse of the Empire of the Lost. It smelled of corruption. The payments had seen to the companies revival taking it from the brink of catastrophe and financial ruin. The rejuvenation work had begun in earnest ever since. Corruption pays well, Eirys discovered early. It also tends to give insight into machinations which purists tend to find out about when it is too late. Oh, bother the honest men. What a laughable concept when it came to business. Money talks.

Information passed along by Vūm (the same discreet non-profit who were responsible for Santhe Corp getting back up on their feet) had given Eirys some insight into the clandestine operations of her Imperial associates on Lianna.

They were calling it Project Tion:-

'The revitalization of Imperialism in the Outer Rim systems'

A wonderful aim which provided wanting customers from the Imperial military industrial complex who sought to get their hands upon Santhe tech and Eirys had been eager to sell to Sularen when they had met. Curiously, the Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) had been covered during a meeting held above Minntooine, aboard the F.D.V.E.C Shipyards by members of the project, some weeks before the first Imperial incursion into the Sith occupied Corporate Sector of the Thandon Star Nebulae.

It had been an old advert. Circa 878. When Brosi used to be green, and vibrant.

NISB FILE, "BROSI TOURISM", 878 ABY, CSA.

Someone associated to the project appeared to covet a relationship with the CSA. Eirys did not mind playing middle-man. For now.

Like the rest of Code Zero, Reggie didn't really have much choice when the corpos decided it was time to high-tail it off Etti IV. Though each Zero was locked in for reasons as varied as their species or homeworld, they all shared one thing in common: their life debts meant there was no room for escape.

Actually, there was a second commonality between them now... Nar Shaddaa was their new home.

Reggie shrugged to himself as he knocked back another shot of Corellian liquor. Were he a less experienced drinker, the spicy flavor body would have made him cough. After years as a shadowrunner and a "conductor" on the Freedom Trail, very few things made Reg flinch. Least of all, alcohol.

"Another?" a Devaronian bartender asked. His toothy grin was full of yellow teeth. Reggie nodded.

"One more. Neat."

The horned alien snickered, happy to oblige. The glass slid across the countertop and found its terminus in Reggie's cupped palm. It went up, met his lips, and found itself rim-side down in seconds.

"Thanks," Reggie said, appending a few credit sticks to the compliment. Before the bartender could offer a last last drink, the shadowrunner was on his feet and moving toward a dimmer corner than the bar where he'd been camped out.

Sitting there was a young girl, not quite out of her teens yet. Her short teal hair and signature holo-visor were trademarks of the person he was here to meet, but seeing them in person still didn't feel real. He needed to hear her to know for certain his eyes weren't just being hopeful.

"Das?" he asked from a few feet away. The girl looked up, smiled, and shot back a quick, "Heya, old man."

Reggie chuckled in the sorta way that always made Das think of her dad. It was endearing, mostly because he didn't know he was doing it. Reg joined her in the booth, leaning forward to prop his slouched torso up on his elbows. He looked at her for a moment, then turned to scan the rest of the Cluster.

"Good to see ya, kid. It'd be even better if you weren't the only one."

There were lots of good shadowrunners he hadn't seen since Etti was shifted and the corpos packed up their chit. Das, Kivah Kivah , Tizdalle Jyll Tizdalle Jyll , and Aaaine came to mind. Hopefully they managed to dodge Nar Shaddaa altogether, but if not, he hoped they found someplace in the Undercity to lay low—no pun intended.

Plugging into the CSA's new framework took up most of Reggie's time these days, but connecting with the other Zeros and rebuilding his network was his main priority.

Another day, another business meeting.

As of late, life had become a relentless succession of negotiations, audits, and concessions for the owner of the Ando Mining Collective, Brakkus Ka'bo. Since the inclusion of Ando within High Republic territory, the company had been subjected to a growing web of demands and regulations that tightened with each passing cycle. It was a stark departure from the near-limitless autonomy Ando Mining had once enjoyed, and it demanded far more of Brakkus' time and patience than he cared to admit.

Today, however, presented an opportunity. The reconstitution of the Corporate Sector Authority. A convergence of some of the most powerful commercial entities in the Outer Rim. The necessity of such an organisation was immediately apparent. Individually, each could be pressured, sanctioned, or quietly undermined by the major powers of the galaxy. Together, they possessed the leverage to respond in kind. If handled correctly, this alliance could resolve Ando Mining's recent difficulties and ensure they were not repeated.

And so, Brakkus found himself on Nar Shaddaa. Not a planet he enjoyed, but one he understood well. Nar Shaddaa was honest in its corruption. In hives like this, principles held little value. Credits did. And credits, when wielded with intent, would reshape entire systems.

The large Aqualish entered the glass-walled conference room, his chrome-plated protocol droid following close behind. The room's transparency felt performative, a polite façade masking sharpened interests and quiet hostility. As Brakkus took his seat, the protocol droid addressed the room on his behalf.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Brakkus Ka'bo, President and Chief Executive of the Ando Mining Collective, extends his formal greetings and looks forward to a productive discussion with you all."

Brakkus' gaze moved methodically around the table, lingering on several familiar faces. Most notable among them was Dokos G'hune Dokos G'hune , Director-in-Chief of two of Ando Mining's competitors. Persistent rumours of under-the-table Imperial contracts followed her. Unconfirmed, but not without pattern. Brakkus noted it and moved on. Information, after all, was currency.

Name plaques marked the remaining seats, each representing a significant force in the corporate sphere. These were not observers or opportunists. They were stakeholders with reach and ambition. If their interests could be aligned, even temporarily, the Corporate Sector Authority would not simply return. It would reassert itself.

And Brakkus fully intended to ensure that Ando Mining stood at its centre

They trickled in, and likely still would, but Viktor was eager to get things moving in the right direction. Without further delay, he rose and raised a hand to gain the attention of the corpos. He dipped his head in a low but respectful nod.

"Welcome to New Vertica and Nar Shaddaa," he began. His accent was notably Denonite, but there was a splash of color from several dialects and regions that pegged him as a well-traveled businessman who's called many systems home at some point or another. A nearby translator droid spoke alongside him for those who were not fluent in Basic, or those who could understand but lacked the biological means of speaking the language back.

"I am grateful that so many esteemed conglomerates and corporations are present this evening. Miss Avanane and Santhe, Mister Brakkus," he said, noting their additions in particular. Each was a strong force in their own right. Together, Viktor could hardly wait to see what great things they could do. "I know you all are a very busy lot, so I say we get right down to business then, shall we?"

At that, he took his seat and fanned out several key documents necessary for the evening's discussion.

"As many of you are aware, the Corporate Sector Authority's primary holdings on Etti IV were withdrawn and relocated following the Planeshift event. Gang activity, rebel cells, and pirate bands made operations on the planet excruciatingly difficult, especially considering the astro- and geological catastrophes Etti suffered thanks to its cosmic shift."

"Though several locations were considered, it was determined that Nar Shaddaa would make the most hospitable home for the Authority. And thanks to our gracious hosts," he trilled, leaving them unnamed, "we can enjoy a mostly blank canvas upon which to paint a new portrait of the Authority and its holdings."

He paused a moment to allow the droid to complete her translation, then carried on without skipping a beat.

"Tonight's agenda is rather straightforward, but we've plenty of time allotted should the discussion become more complex. First, the Direx Board would like to broaden itself by finding new signatory sponsors—those would be you fine gentlebeings, should the CSA interest you. Second are the terms and provisions of said sponsorship."

"And finally, a matter of branding; a proposal to merge the CSA with local enterprises and rebrand ourselves as the Hutt Space Corporate Exchange has been proposed, and I am interested to put it before not only the Board, but potential sponsors as well."

Her pale nails scraped the conference table as she felt she was being watched from none other than Brakkus Brakkus . The Aqualish was undoubtedly wealthy in the galaxy's mining industry, and she vaguely recalled that they were part of the Corporate faction in the revival efforts of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Competition was never beneficial for business; it had to be eliminated completely and without compassion. After this conference concludes, she would have a meeting with her Chief Operating Officers, as it was evident that Trigdale-Karflo Mining Consortium and Offworld Mining Corporation were not doing enough to drive their competitors out of the market.

Her head slightly turned from the alien to Viktor Sylvain Viktor Sylvain as they started to elaborate on various topics. In her view, the pitch was too lengthy, filled with many unfocused words that could simply be condensed into a request for sponsorship and possibly joining the Corporate Exchange. She wasn't interested in the history of why they chose this location; she only wanted to know where the profits would come from.

"You might want to clarify what the actual perks and benefits are of being a signatory sponsor. If it's merely for a fancy nameplate and a penthouse on Nar Shaddaa, we can manage that without signing any documents or associating ourselves with this venture." The man obviously lacked experience in these types of meetings; there must always be a hook to capture the audience's attention. Keeping it ambiguous for some hidden agenda won't convince her or anyone else present.

"Furthermore, what is the motivation behind changing the organization's name from the Corporate Sector Authority to the Hutt Space Corporate Exchange? This name carries its own baggage and a negative reputation due to its location. It makes it twice as difficult for anyone who isn't involved in crime to be taken seriously in the Galactic Market." She aimed to avoid sounding pessimistic, but incorporating the Hutt Space acronym before Corporate Exchange would only fuel baseless rumors suggesting they were a front for the Hutt Cartels and the Black Sun.

A sly smile tugged at the corner of the vampire's lips, accentuating the sharpness of jaw and cheekbones. His crimson eyes, shielded behind a complimentarily tinted pair of sunglasses, were fixed on the origin of the questions. Both of her posits were rather simple to answer without over-extrapolation.

"The benefits of becoming a signatory sponsor are the same as they have always been, though they now come with the boon of convenient location. Nar Shaddaa is much, much closer to the Galactic market than Etti IV was. Even Cantonica, Bonadan, and Ord Radama suffered from their far-flung astrographical positions—and that was before the Planeshift. Things are much more dire in their neck of the woods now, and I assure you all that the risk of crime is tenfold the further into the Slice one travels."

Datapads glowed as corpos considered the data on-screen. A few of them tapped away, others stared at the little devices with eyes glazed over—their interns would parse the information and relay it in a memo later, of course. Some were like Dokos G'hune Dokos G'hune and had questions.

Viktor enjoyed the last breed of corpo the best. The ones who wouldn't sign a paper until the fine print had definitions written in the margins.

"Signatory sponsors enjoy, first and foremost, a deep and diversified insider market shared among other signatories. It is an ecosystem wherein our member corporations work together to ensure the best deals and trade agreements are brokered internally first, before searching elsewhere for them."

Conglomerates in a conglomerate, he wanted to say. But the scary C-word often frightened off the smaller companies who found these sort of cabals to be more risk than reward. Only the sharks tended to swim for long in CSA's ocean.

Viktor waved an open hand toward the large transparisteel window that spanned the length of the board room. Through it, New Vertica extended outward like a sea of neon lights. Each cloudcutter and skyscraper looked like a tiny spire amidst the smog and glow. "Plus," Vik appended, "you will enjoy the free-market nature of Nar Shaddaa and all the benefits that come with it."

"Convenient regulations, low tax rates, and a large workforce both on-world and off."

Satisfied that he'd answered the first question, he shifted his gears to the second. There was some merit to Mamo's concerns about the association between Hutt Space and crime, but Viktor was certain the impact on business would be negligible.

"The name will raise a few eyebrows, yes; so will Corporate Sector Authority. At least with the former, our newfound center of commerce is publicized. Transparency is the drug that these major galactic governments are addicted to—but allow me to remind you, on the same note, that of the six current reigning superpowers, there is only one who will bat an eye at the Hutt Space Corporate Exchange... and its new High Chancellor is none other than the former senator of Denon, for star's sake."

That wolfish smile returned.

"The Imperials, the Sith, the Mandalorians, they all want the same things. And they are willing to source them from places the Republic is not. I have no fear that acknowledging our astrographical region in the name of this new Authority will impact your profit margins negatively."

With all members in attendance, the meeting began as Viktor Sylvain Viktor Sylvain outlined the agenda. Brakkus and the other representatives had been briefed on these matters weeks earlier. This was merely a formality, commonplace in such deliberations.

A waste of time for some, perhaps. Still, alignment mattered.

Once Viktor concluded, Dokos G'hune Dokos G'hune raised a dispute that echoed many of Brakkus's own concerns. Chief among them was the proposed rebranding to the Hutt Space Corporate Exchange. To Brakkus, this was unnecessary and potentially dangerous to the Ando Mining Collective. The stigma attached to the Corporate Sector Authority was one thing. Openly aligning with the cartels was another, and it could easily doom his assets within the Ando System.

Brakkus spoke up in his native tongue, a series of bleats and guttural sounds, while his protocol droid translated into Galactic Basic and the other required languages.

"I concur with Ms. Avanane. I see no justification for this rebranding. The Aqualish have long been regarded as criminals and villains. Ando Mining condemns this reputation in the strongest possible terms. This change would be regressive for my people, my company, and our collective standing."

The discussion then shifted to the returns promised to signatory sponsors for their investment. Brakkus understood the value of consolidation and the strength of a unified front. He also understood the danger of entering such arrangements without concrete guarantees. What had the Corporate Council of the Confederacy of Independent Systems ever done for Ando Mining? Very little beyond abandoning them to navigate the bureaucracy of the High Republic alone.

"The benefits of cooperation cannot be understated," Brakkus continued. "However, such agreements bring complications. How are two signatory sponsors operating in the same industry, such as Ando Mining and Offworld Mining Corporation, both meant to receive the most favourable terms?"

He cast a brief glance toward Mamo before continuing, confident that she shared these concerns.

"I would also like to know how we intend to support one another outside of Nar Shaddaa. Ando Mining maintains significant assets beyond the system. With the recent passage of the Investment in Recovering Systems Act by the High Republic, those assets are now vulnerable to litigation."

Senate Bill 5227 was a bureaucratic farce and an exercise in grandstanding. There was no doubt the Republic would pursue environmental litigation against Ando Mining for damage across countless worlds. Yet the local officials and planetary authorities who had grown wealthy from those same operations would face no consequences.

"So what assurances, if any, can you offer to address these concerns?"

If the CSA proved unwilling or incapable of confronting such issues, its value to Brakkus and to Ando Mining was severely limited.

OBJECTIVE I
' A Seat at the Table '

Vūm were long time admirers of the Corporate Sector Authority.

A former agent (who had gone onto become Staff Director of a security branch in the fallen Empire of the Lost) had attended an event once, previously hosted on Canto Blight some years ago, to make in-roads with them as they looked to rejuvenate their business and political interests on Etti VI. Acquiring partners on the behalf of Eiry's associates from Lianna City (ranging from the likes of Santhe Corporation to other provocative markets operated by the likes of the Ando Mining Collective or Galactic Syndicated) were, therefore, not above reproach. So long as they had the credits and expertise to facilitate both corporate or political interests (amid the galactic superpowers dotted across the Outer Rim and Mid Rim Territories) made them fine game in the eyes of the peculiar non-profit that could be found (if you knew where to look) in the Lianna system.

Therefore a newly re-established CSA (with the aforementioned recruited into their ranks) was something which Vūm continued to covet to this day as they attempted to create new relationships with other influential figures in the corporate blocs across the Outer Rim and Mid Rim systems. A rejuvenated Corporate Sector Authority could act as facilitators for this project if they were convinced recruit the likes of Eirys into their organisation as she listened to the proposals lobbied at the Benevolence Tower within the heart of the Black Sun Syndicate.

"We needn't posture over branding,"
Eirys explained to her (potential) new associates as they haggled over Viktor Sylvain Viktor Sylvain 's initial proposal to form the Hutt Space Corporate Exchange out of the remnants of the CSA. "It could be explainable that the interests of the Corporate Sector Authority, outside of Nar Shaddaa, in prospective star systems or worlds aligned to the likes of the High Republic or Imperial Confederation, can be followed up through the already established name of the C.S.A. Meanwhile other interests, within Hutt or Mandalorian space, could be followed up on by this Hutt Exchange instead."

"This arrangement could serve to obfuscate our dealings with clientele and be left to plausible deniability,"
Eirys continued to explain while inferring that she held her own interest in becoming a signatory sponsor on the Direx Board. "Respectable business dealings with the Imperials or Republicans could be overseen under the lens of the Corporate Sector Authority while ulterior business in Hutt space, or elsewhere, could be handled by this more discreet and infamous Hutt Exchange thereby protecting the image or relationships that are fostered by the likes of Santhe Corporation, Galactic Syndicated, and Ando Mining."

In essence this arrangement could make the Corporate Sector Authority, and the Hutt Corporate Space Exchange, one in the same entity. Indeed, the CSA were not clean (from a reputable standpoint) if it came to creating business opportunities in Republic or Imperial space. But at least they would not be encumbered by the bureaucracy of the High Republic, or the interference of regulation and autocracy of the Imperial Confederation, by making it known that they were tied directly to the Hutt Cartels. At least not indirectly.

"It could be beneficial to my company to align Santhe Corporation to this organisation," Eirys stated as she finished her explanation. "But I would firstly require some evidence to suggest that doing business on Nar Shaddaa would be in my interest. For example, Santhe Corp have acquired a long-term contract with the Imperial Confederation for the supply or retrofit of technology. What could be facilitated here with our tech, or expertise?"

"Commander Sularen delivered an actionable plan that has bolstered my companies revenue as we look to compete with the Nargath and Zanareth Umbrella Corporation. In our absence, Umbrella have become a rival for the development and subsequent sale of both defensive and offensive weapons grade technologies in the Tion Hegemony, Ash Worlds and other sectors that were taken when the second Imperial occupation of the Outer Rim systems came to be. Santhe Corp seeks to strengthen our position so that it is not continually eroded by our competitors in Imperial territories."

Yes, Eirys was familiar (somewhat loosely) about that unclean reputation that the Corporate Sector Authority had fostered with thanks to her powerful friend from the Halquarn District, Lianna City. Espionage, sabotage, or subterfuge were games that the CSA were rumoured to have played during their glory days, and given that they were clearly connected to the Black Sun Syndicate (now that they had re-located from Etti VI to Nar Shaddaa), Eirys suspected that those rumours held a lot of truth in them. Could they be utilized against Santhe's competitors on Lianna and beyond?

Her pale nails resumed their slow scrape against the table, merely watching from across the table as Viktor Sylvain Viktor Sylvain made certain to ease their concerns. The tinted lenses he wore did not conceal the reality that his wolfish smile didn't quite reach his eyes; he was relishing this far too much.

Typically, men who found pleasure in meetings were concealing something behind their excessive charm and she suspected that the Underlord had put him up to this exchange given the fact they were meeting on Nar Shaddaa of all places. Her eyes briefly glanced over at Eirys Santhe.

"The logic of a shell company isn't revolutionary, Eirys," Mamo interrupted, her voice a flat contrast to the other woman's pitch. "It's basic survival. Whether we call ourselves the CSA, the Exchange, or the Galactic Benevolent Fund doesn't change the fact that we are sitting in the heart of the Black Sun's backyard."

She turned her gaze fully onto Viktor. She wasn't buying the convenient location speech. Distance was solved by better hyperdrives; political interference was solved by better bribes. She needed to know what he was actually offering that she couldn't buy herself with a few well-placed credits.

"You speak of internal markets and diversified boons as if we're a social club," she said, her tone dripping with quiet skepticism. There was no need for her to openly endorse Brakkus Brakkus 's question about the new legislation of the High Republic. If she had disapproved of the inquiry, her stance would have been made quite clear.

"If I sign this, I want more than insider deals. I want the Authority's enforcement arm to ensure that my supply lines from Karflo are prioritized over any non-signatory, regardless of what the Hutts or the Republic say. I want to know that when a competitor tries to undercut my margins in the Mid Rim, their ships start experiencing unfortunate mechanical failures that the Exchange conveniently ignores." She leaned forward just enough to catch the light on her greying hair. Galactic Syndicated was born from the shell of a criminal front company and was well aware of the tactics needed to ensure that they were getting a fair exchange on the market.

Perrin yawned. He was still fiddling with an intricate looking Hapan puzzle box. So far the solution eluded him. When the human looked up at them all it was as if he just remembered there were other people in the room. He whispered something to a protocol droid who then shuffled away to carry out his commands.

"If the markets are shifting to Hutt Space, then we should invest in that future. Public relations concerns are manageable. Brand loyalty to the Corporate Sector gives an impression our interests are too remote to be of real consequence."

When he smiled it looked like Perrin was designed in a lab to be as charming as possible but none of that warmth reached his eyes. They were cold and calculating windows to a ruthless mind.

"Czerka will sign as long as we can make a deal with Black Sun for protection from the locals. I would rather pay a bribe than a tax. There are advantages to doing business where the law is so corrupt."

Even though it was one of the galaxy's oldest enterprises, Czerka Corp had fallen on hard times fragmenting into rival competitors. Perrin was still trying to help rebuild it through mergers and corporate sabotage. He needed access to Hutt Space's slave markets so that Czerka could meet its constant demand for more test subjects.
