[ An Independent Crystarian ]

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • | Name | Crystarian
  • | Designation | Sentient
  • | Origins |
    • | The Great Crystal | A large indestructible moon-sized crystal that has been hurtling through the Galaxy. The Great Crystal functions as a colony for budding Crystarians, guarded by ancient Fragments that stayed to protect the very core of their entire species as well as the youngest of Crystarians. As the Great Crystal is near indestructible, attempts at mining it for precious stones by corporations, pirates, or any such group attempting to utilize them for profit have been impossible, let alone surviving against the legions of Fragments that guard it.
  • | Average Lifespan |
    • ~10,000 Years before Natural Erosion sets in.
  • | Estimated Population |
    • Planetary [ Fragments - Those who choose to stay ]
    • Scattered [ Independents - Those who choose to leave ]

  • | Description |
    • All Crystarians are derived from a core produced by The Great Crystal, encased in shards of near-indestructible crystal, chipped away from the asteroid-sized crystal, and nurtured by the most ancient and protective of their kinds known as Fragments. Those that reside on the Great Crystal are documented to be of varying shapes and forms, though most are generally bipedal in nature. Crystarians chosen to be sent out as explorers, ambassadors, or outcast have been able to replicate the appearances of other species they encounter, and even though they are crystalline in nature are capable of emulating the appearance of an organic through extremely fine manipulation of their own composition (Though this does not bypass the fact that they are extremely hard to the touch). The one inescapable detail that they fail to simulate however in imitating organics is hair, with such features appearing as their crystalline composition as well as their eyes. Crystarians have no centralized 'brain' so to speak, as their entire body is a conduit for their thoughts.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • | Breathes | Type IV
  • | Average Height of Adults | Varies
  • | Average Length of Adults | Varies
  • | Skin Color | Varies
  • | Hair Color | Varies
  • | Distinctions |
    • The only time a Crystarian is indistinguishable from others of its kind is when they are in their early stages of growth, as fragments of the Great Crystal where they lack their own identity. Each Crystarian is unique compared to any of its own species, with the exception of 'twins' which can appear identical to one another as they are two halves of a singular core. As each Crystarian ages, their consumption of inorganic crystals can alter their appearance and composition, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind entity.
  • | Races | N/A
  • | Force Sensitivity |
    • | Rare | Force Sensitivity among the Crystarians are restricted to those who have consumed immense amounts of Kyber crystals. This gives them varying degrees of control over the Force as well as the ability to harmonize with it. It has been noted that Crystarians with a high concentration of Kyber crystals are able to attain an absolute Zen state of total awareness and synchronization with their environment.
Strengths
  • | Assimilating Crystals | The natural trait and property of all Crystarians is their ability to 'assimilate' inorganic matter (typically crystalline in nature) and add it to their own composition. This allows Crystarians to inadvertently harness the properties and traits of other crystals they consume, notably gems or Kyber crystals that enhance their own properties and grant them abilities.
  • | Tough as Diamonds | Crystarians innately have a hardness that is extremely high amongst most gems or crystals found throughout the Galaxy. This grants them the ability to break down most crystals they decide to consume and harness their properties while also giving them an immensely tough body.
  • | Regenerative | Crystarians are able to regenerate and heal themselves should they become damaged or lose limbs. This is a process that harvests all of the consumed inorganic material they take in to repair their bodies, whether it is to fuse broken pieces back together, repair minor fractures and cracks or even recreate an entire lost limb.
Weaknesses
  • | Fragile Core | A Crystarian's core is an extremely fragile and sensitive object, similar to that of an organic being's heart and other vital organs bundled into a small crystalline sphere. Damage to this core can easily cause cracks and potentially shatter it, effectively 'killing' the Crystarian.
  • | Diluted Quality | A Crystarian early on in its life is extremely durable, as its structure is derived purely off the Great Crystal's composition which is impervious to anything known in the Galaxy. Crystarians that choose to leave the colony created on the Great Crystal do not feed off of the original crystal, and such introduce imperfections and flaws from external sources into their own composition, thus weakening their physical state depending on the types of materials or matter they consume.
  • | Shattered Minds | While never a problem for a pure Fragment, Independent Crystarians with their diluted compositions are more prone to being driven crazy via cracks and fractures in their bodies, as their bodies are essentially the conduit of their minds. Breaks and fractures affect it in varying degrees based upon the damage done to its surface.

CULTURE
  • | Diet |
    • Crystarians sustain themselves through the consumption of inorganic matter, though they have a tendency to consume anything crystalline in nature over anything else. This can result in the cannibalization of one's own species or of species that are also crystalline in nature such as Shards or B'rknaa.
  • | Communication |
    • Crystarians are able to telepathically communicate with one another, though some have developed the ability to audibly speak in a manner that can be recognized by the Galaxy, or like the Shards, utilize technology to vocalize their speech.
  • | Technology Level |
    • Crystarians do not utilize technology to any extensive capacity outside of translation purposes. As such they are viewed typically as a primitive species due to their lack of technology.
  • | Religion/Beliefs |
    • Crystarians do not follow a religion, nor do they have anything that equates to one within their species. Their sole purpose in their lives is typically dedicated to the continuation and preservation of their species while others spend it trying to find a purpose to their existence.
  • | General Behavior |
    • Crystarians are a simple species, typically going through their entire lives content with simply existing in their colonies created on the Great Crystal. Those who choose to remain on the Great Crystal are known as Fragments, pure in their composition that simply mine new Cores found in the deeper core of the moon. These Fragments are typically ancient and fiercely protect the Great Crystal from outside intrusion or attacks, swiftly dispatching those foolish enough to try and mine the crystal for riches. Few that break off from the Great Crystal ever leave its crystalline warmth, but there are occasions where curiosity develops in a Fragment and they choose to leave to explore the Galaxy or even rare occasions where a Core is broken off and sent drifting into space. Crystarians have what is similar to that of a hive mind where they are capable of communicating with one another instantaneously on the Great Crystal, while those who are away from it are constantly filled with a sense of isolation and something similar to that of homesickness. A Crystarian's sanity is believed to be tied to the number of fractures they have or amount of times they've been broken; the more fractures or breakages they have, the lower their sanity becomes.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
A billion facets of brilliance to rival that of the stars - Beautiful, in a strange yet eerie way. The Crystarians are an ancient species of silicon-based species found in the Galaxy, much like Shards or their closer cousins, the B'rknna. The origin of all Crystarians can be traced back to the Great Crystal, a massive moon-sized object that hurtles through space on an endless journey that has seen it cycle the entirety of the known reaches of the Galaxy for millennia. It is speculated that the Great Crystal itself is a sentient Crystarian as it is able to navigate space without causing catastrophic damage impacting any planets like an oversized meteor, simply flying within close proximity to them.
The nature of all Crystarians can be found within the region closest to the core of the Great Crystal, having taken inorganic matter that impacts against its surface and drawing it closer to the core where it becomes superheated whenever the Great Crystal comes within proximity of a star. What is found then is a Crystarian Core, much like an embryo which is nurtured to soon grow to become a Fragment of the Great Crystal, its composition pure and near indestructible in nature when they become adolescent.
Crystarian Cores are harvested by the most ancient of their species, tended to, and nurtured to grow and become their own life form, though many lack a purpose outside of simply existing. As a Core, Crystarians are extremely delicate - much so like an egg and must be treated with great care in the early stages of its life until it consumes broken slivers of the Great Crystal to create a sturdy shell around it and become a fully-fledged Fragment. Should their curiosity get the best of them, Fragments can choose to depart from the colonies they were born in on the Great Crystal and wander through space on their own. These Fragments become known as Independent Crystarians, able to explore the Galaxy on their own and develop their own appearance based on those they encounter, much similar in fashion as to how a Clawdite would.
An Independent Crystarian develops its own personality and view of things, often being filled with a sense of needing to find a purpose to fulfill now that they are no longer one with their own people. Many continue to wander the stars, attempting to find their purpose, though many often end up being captured and sold into slavery. Those that escape such a treacherous fate often find themselves becoming scholars, documenting and recording all they can in the event that they return to the Great Crystal.
As the surface cannot be harvested for crystals by conventional means, Crystarian Cores or young Crystarian Fragments are stolen/abducted and then fed inferior crystals to alter the purity of their composition, resulting in their bodies becoming much more frail and easy to break into shards that can be sold as gems. Crystarian slaves have been found throughout the Galaxy, held simply to be a constant source of income, their bodies are broken endlessly till they simply cease to think or function properly. This has resulted in the Crystarian species becoming extremely hostile towards outsiders - typically only being allowed upon its surface if one of their own kind permits them to.
Much like their distant cousins, the Shards - Crystarians were sought after for their sheer beauty, most species simply viewing and treating them as simple additions to their fashion and aesthetics. This has made Independent Crystarians a valuable target of interest upon being discovered as they are far easier to abduct when alone and isolated from Fragments who could rip individuals apart. Attempts to mine the Great Crystal have resulted in extremely hostile actions taken against those who attempt to land upon its surface.
Independent Crystarians that reunite with the Great Crystal bring back a wealth of knowledge that all members on its surface can experience and gain, much like data being transferred into a computer. This can provide Crystarians with a general understanding of the Galaxy as well as those it would trust - The Independent Crystarians are often treated as ambassadors for the Crystarians, while also being their greatest explorers. An Independent Crystarian can become a pure Fragment once more through extensive stay upon the Great Crystal as they consume the original shards they were born from to purify their compositions once again.

Evening Soundwave Soundwave ! Apologies for the wait on this one. I'd like to say that I absolutely LOVE this species and the art you've used for them! I just have a few small things that need to be fixed before I approve this one:

Estimated Population | Please state that young Crystarians are "planetary" and grown/growing Crystarians are "scattered" to clear any confusion for future readers.
Links | Please add a link for the Clawdites that you mention in the History section.

If you have any questions or get wanna let me know that edits are complete, just give me a tag!
