OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To provide interesting and challenging enemies for a future RP.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Crystalisk
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Orax
  • Average Lifespan: 50 standard years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: Crystalisks are large, beryllium based, and vaguely arthropod-like creatures which live in the caverns of the planet Orax. They are covered in blue crystals except on the underbelly and upper limbs.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1, 2, or 3 atmospheres
  • Average Height of Adults: 3 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: 12 meters
  • Skin color: Tan
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Crystalisks are covered in blue crystals made of beryl that form a protective layer of armor for the creature. They have ten legs, and four arm-like appendages on the torso. They have very large mandibles, which assist in fighting over territory and digging tunnels. They have an excellent rate of matter-to-energy conversion, and are perfectly comfortable living on a diet of minerals, dirt, and rocks. All known populations of Crystalisks live underground, due to their inherent dislike of light. They take six months to hatch from their eggs, and at around ten years old are considered adults.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: Non Sensitive
Strengths:
  • Very fast: Crystalisks can scuttle incredibly quickly through the tunnels they dig, and this gives them an advantage both when attacking and when retreating.
  • Armored: Crystalisks have naturally occurring beryl crystals on their bodies, which make them highly resistant to damage.
  • Excellent night vision: Crystalisks can see in far lower light levels than most life forms can, due to their many eyes having a reflective quality to them.
  • Tunnel digging: Crystalisks are natural tunnel diggers, and can dig almost as quickly as they scuttle. Crystalisk tunnels can stretch kilometers when made by a large colony.
  • Intelligence: Crystalisks are very intelligent for a non-sentient species, and are capable of forming large, well organized colonies without any outside help.
Weaknesses:
  • Hatred of light: Crystalisks are extremely sensitive to light, and instinctively avoid it in any way that they can.
  • Territorial: Crystalisks will often seek out needless fights when they feel that their tunnels are being intruded on.
  • Vulnerable underbelly: Crystalisks have no armor protecting their underbelly, meaning it is vulnerable to attack.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Geovore (eats minerals, dirt, and rocks)
  • Communication: Vocalizations similar to crackling electricity
  • Technology level: No technology
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: Crystalisks can be found in underground tunnels on the planet Orax. They dig these tunnels by eating the dirt and rocks rapidly, while scuttling forward. They are very territorial with these tunnels, both towards other Crystalisks not in their colony, and towards other species who wander into the tunnels. They almost always live in large colonies, which generally are based in a massive, underground cavern. These caverns have designated areas for eggs, vertical downwards tunnels for waste products, sleeping areas, a burial area for deceased Crystalisks, and even a recovery area for injured or sick Crystalisks. They generally lay eggs in groups of six, but this number can vary.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Crystalisks have been on the planet Orax for what is estimated to be around three million years. They were first discovered by the Galactic Republic in 119 BBY, when a group of explorers investigating Orax were attacked by a Crystalisk while exploring a tunnel. Six of the explorers were killed by the Crystalisk before the explorers managed to kill it by firing a blaster rifle directly down its throat. The corpse was frozen in carbonite and sent back to the Core Worlds for study.

As more and more citizens from the Galactic Republic moved in, the Crystalisks became a larger and larger problem. They prevented many tourists from visiting the planet, and attempts to cull the population by both the Republic and the subsequent Galactic Empire failed miserably, usually ending with more troopers dead than Crystalisks. In the year 11 BBY, a Dark Side Holocron was hidden in a colony of Crystalisks by the Imperial Grand Inquisitor. He challenged his apprentices to retrieve the Holocron, but none of them succeeded, as they were all more concerned with making sure the others did not get it, than getting it for themselves.

The Holocron is still there to this day, and now, there are plenty of rumors around Orax about a Dark Artifact hidden in the tunnels, but nobody has actually been brave (or stupid) enough to try to find it.
