OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create a handy little tool.
  • Canon Link: /
  • Restricted Missions: /
  • Primary Source: /
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Daro Tarsi | Cogmind.
  • Model: CRY-10v5
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: No.
  • Production: Semi-Unique
  • Material: Hiridu crystals.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Boost. The CRY-10v5 is capable of being plugged into any device and boost its signal to an exponential degree. It can only do this for a short while (around ten minutes for text, five for voice, two minutes or less for video) and after that the tool becomes fried and unusable. The main purpose of the CRY-10v5 is to break through most contemporary, military-grade jamming methods to send out a quick transmission, before the tool overloads.
  • Passive. Its mere presence clears out and smooths ongoing transmissions and sensory readings. This is a very low-grade passive effect in the scope of clearing out some static out of a video transmission and maybe getting a few more meters out of the sensory readings.
Strengths:
  • Boost: Capable of breaking through jamming with its boost ability and cleaning out existing communication and sensor readings.
Weaknesses:
  • Fragile: One of the more fragile tools Cogmind designs the 10v5 is a sensitive piece of equipment. Set in a thin casing of durasteel it can maybe survive a glancing shot from a single blaster bolt, but anything direct will break it without any problems.
  • One-shot: Emergencies only. You get one try and after that the stress will cause the tool to fry. You will need a new one after that.
  • Limited: It has way more difficulty countering and overcoming heavy jamming that has recently become en vogue within the Galaxy. Trying to overcome the jamming of a star dreadnought will cut the duration in half. (5 for text, 2 1/2 for voice, 1 minute or less for video).
DESCRIPTION
The CRY-10v5 has been a staple of Daro's work for the past decade or so.

After a heavy night of drinking with [member="Joza Perl"], [member="Zef Halo"], [member="Tryp West"] and [member="Julius Sedaire"] of which he mostly footed the bill Daro realized he was in need of some more cash. What else are friends for, eh? Either way, he decided to work up a smaller-scale tool that could be sold to a few key people in the underworld for a quick cash influx. The CRY-10v5 was the result of that- a small thumb drive that can be inserted in most standardized communication hardware.

Once synced it can exponentially boost the signal and break through most jamming solutions for a few minutes. Sadly with time running out (he had another bar run in a few days) Daro didn't have the opportunity to solve the overheating problem the drive possessed. This means that it is very liable to being fried once it works its magic.

Pity.

But that did mean that he could make more of them and sell them, once the old ones were busted, so Daro considered that a win as far as he was concerned.

Money, money, money.
