Epo-1 Interceptor
Saphira sat on the front deck of an EE-7 Repulsorlift Cargo Skimmer, a small balcony-like platform that sat in front of the control bay. Her legs dangled off the side of the platform as she leaned against one of the support bars of the railing, her cheek pressed against the metallic surface. The destination was a place called Mahara Kesh, an ancient temple of the Je'daii. It was the Temple of Healing, the place where the ancient Order's wounded were brought to heal. Now, thousands of years later, Jedi were once again seeking to make use of its halls. If this ancient place was going to be utilized, however, an expedition into its depths was deemed as necessary. With how vital a new healing facility was, both Galactic Alliance personnel and Jedi alike saw fit to organize the journey.

And Saphira was deemed to be a prime candidate to join. She was both more skilled than the average padawan due to her upbringing as a witch, but also equally in need of exposure to the wider history of Jedi culture if she was to be a good student. In that regard she had much to gain.

Je'daii was an interesting name to Saphira. That was what her Clan Mother had referred to the Jedi Order as. It seemed to be an ancient name, one that was representative of the Order in its infancy. Whatever it was that occurred thousands of years ago, the Je'daii ended and the Jedi began. Along the line this place, and many others, were forgotten about by time. It was hard to fathom the distance of tens-of-thousands, especially in regard to the passage of time. The prospect was like trying to comprehend infinity. It didn't exactly click with the brain.

Unfortunately no such temple was visible quite yet. For the first hour of their journey the ocean had been rather novel. Standing water so large was not common on the red rock she called home before. Now the young witch had grown bored. Her hand waved about the air lazily, casting various runes that sparkled with the color of different elements. It wasn't doing much to keep her entertained.

Hopefully they were close. Maybe then she'd finally have something to do.

"I'm terribly sorry, ma'am, but I just can't let you off this ship until we reach our destination," the captain of the interceptor sighed. "So for the last time, please do not pester me about jumping in the water till then."

The Ersansyr Jedi in front of him huffed, flicking back her long orange and pink hair sulkily. She couldn't even blame him for turning her persistent requests to swim alongside the ship down, after all, the oceans of Tython were famously deep and dangerous. Still, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of bitterness as she left the cabin and looked out over the endless expanse of blue.

None of these land dwelling species got it. They never knew what it was to long for the feel of the water against their skin, the endless freedom of the sea flowing through their hair. Why even assign a famously aquatic Jedi to an aquatic mission if they weren't even going to let her swim? The whole prospect was ridiculous, and frankly, unfair.

Tapping her long, colourful nails against the railing, Cori glanced back into the cabin. The captain was distracted now, consulting his maps. The Jedi knight bit her lip, glancing back at the welcoming white waves, then back to him, than back to the waves again.

To give into temptation is to give into selfishness, is what her master would say, while most likely waving a webbed finger in the air self righteously. And to stray away from the path of selflessness is to step closer to the dark side.

But her master wasn't here right now. And what was the harm in a little fun?

With one final quick glance back at the distracted captain, Cori placed one foot on the railing and lept into the air. As she fell, her body transformed, her legs knitting together to form a magnificent teal, pink and orange mermaid tail. Smaller fins, tinted pink, grew out of Cori's arms, and her ears became as soft and delicate as a butterfly's wings, their colour transitioning from her skin tone to a light teal. In this new form, she dove into the water with natural elegance, letting out a gasp of delight at the wonderfully freeing feeling of the sea against her scales.

So amazing was the sensation that she almost forgot she was supposed to be following the interceptor. Quickly building up speed with strong strokes from her tail, she came up alongside the ship and spotted the little Altiri sitting by the railing.

Cori felt a bit bad, she had meant to introduce herself but had almost immediately been distracted by the ocean when they boarded. Still, it was better late than never, and at least this way the padawan could meet her in her true form.

Leaping out of the waves like a dolphin, Cori did a few tricks for the girl, spinning and backflipping to hopefully make her laugh. After she was certain the girl wouldn't be shocked or frightened by her presence, Cori caught the railing and swung up onto it. She perched on the metal, her tail thankfully helping her stay balanced, and shot the padawan her friendliest smile.

"So sorry for not introducing myself earlier," she said. "I'm Cordelia Eldoris, Jedi knight and a member of the ersansyr species. But you can just call me Cori."
