STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Heavy Ion Cannon
STRENGTHS
  • Scourge of starfighters: Compared to the base CR125 Corvette, the CR125A is even more lethal against enemy starfighters, thanks to the exceptional rate of fire of its mass-driver cannon turrets.
  • Suppressive fire: When operating in atmosphere, the CR125A can easily suppress enemy targets with its multiple mass-driver cannon turrets.
  • Carrier: The CR125 carries a small complement of starfighters into battle.
  • Field of fire: The positioning of the CR125's weapons allows the vessel to combat multiple targets simultaneously.
  • Heavy armor: Compared to the CR90, the CR125 is more heavily armored.
WEAKNESSES
  • Poor ship to ship combatant: If the base CR125 was ineffective against enemy capital ships, then the CR125A is downright useless against them.
  • Bullet hose: The incredible rate of fire of the CR125A's mass-driver cannons means that the vessel can expend its physical ammunition alarmingly quickly if not used properly.
  • Broadside: The positioning of the CR125's weapons makes the vessel most effective when engaging targets from the side. Anything in front or behind the CR125 can attack the corvette without having to deal with most of its weapon systems.
  • Vulnerable hangar: The hangar on the CR125 is rather prominent, making it an enticing target for enemy ships.
  • Slower: Compared to the CR90, the CR125 is slower to move and slower to turn.
DESCRIPTION

The Battle of Brosi and the naval exercises above Umbara have revealed key deficiencies in Mahporeem Naval Doctrine, namely, usage of the Imperial Remnant's CR125 Corvettes. To rectify this problem, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has begun development on new variants of the CR125 that better suit the needs of the current Imperial Remnant.

As the standard CR125 Corvette already offers subpar performance against enemy capital ships, it was decided to go "all in" on the corvettes anti-fighter capabilities with the creation of the CR125A. Unlike the base model, the CR125 replaces the vessel's heavy laser cannons with Twin Mass-Driver Cannon Turrets. These turrets boast an incredible rate of fire, allowing them to target waves of enemy starfighters with ease. They also provide the vessel with an impressive suppressive effect, especially when operating against targets within a planet's atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this means that the CR125's already poor performance against capital ships is even worse, making the vessel effectively useless against similarly sized and larger ships. That being said, the CR125A performs admirably in its role as an anti-starfighter escort vessel, allowing other ships in the Imperial Navy to focus on ship to ship fighting.

The original CR125 Corvette saw the removal of its turbolasers in favor of heavy laser cannons, making the vessel effective against combating enemy starfighters while still retaining a modicum of usefulness against capital ships. However, the corvettes often struggled in prolonged combat against similarly sized ships and were downright useless against larger vessels, necessitating the creation of the CR125B Corvette.

The reinstallation of turbolaser turrets and the addition of a proton torpedo launcher makes the CR125B far more dangerous against capital ships, especially when utilized in large numbers. However, this means that the CR125B is now far less effective against enemy starfighters, forcing the vessel to rely on its own starfighter compliment to combat enemy starfighter attacks.
