- Combo-Damage: With an explosive powder underneath an armor-piercing bullet, the "Plate Buster" was designed to shatter a victim's protection before utterly eradicating what lies underneath. Indeed, such is the damage output of this breed of ammunition that it is more than capable of completely dismembering a victim and has been known to reduce them to a mere stain on the battlefield.
- Speed: Added to this damage output is the speed at which it traverses upon being fired. With a newly designed primer at the base of the round and a charging device integrated into the rifle, the "Plate Buster" undergoes what the Dread Ascendancy engineers call "Nova-Charge." This explosive state of energy acts as a form of mini-propeller for the rounds as they careen towards their victim, allowing them to reach near railgun-levels of speed before connecting with an object, thus allowing the round to penetrate armors other "slugs" perhaps could not.
- High-Tier Metals: Armors made out of metals such as Beskar, Impervium, Ultrachrome, and Neuranium, have proven difficult to impossible for the rounds to penetrate without consistent attacks. This means that the explosive powder within the bullet cannot damage the armor's wearer without this consistency and thus renders the round relatively useless unless a beneficial development occurs in the battle.
- Elite Rifles Only: Not only designed for the shape and caliber capacity of its intended rifles, the rounds were designed in tandem with the Nova-Charger that allows the ammunition to traverse at the impactful speeds that it does. This means that the rounds cannot be used in any other type of "slugthrower" and is exclusive to its intended weapon.
- EMP/ION: Should the Nova-Charger of the Elite Infantry's Rifles be damaged with EMP or ION weaponry, the rounds will be unable to traverse at their usual speed and will be rendered largely ineffective against armored opponents as a result.
Desiring to give the advanced rifles of the Marauders an edge in a blaster-based Galaxy, the Dread Ascendancy delved into the unorthodox of modern slugthrowers. Thus came the DAST-01 "Plate Buster" Rounds. Created as an advanced combination of existing "slugs" in the Galaxy, namely the armor-piercing and explosive variants, the "Plate Buster" is capable of breaking through an enemy's defense before erupting and destroying their insides. Because of its design and caliber, it can only be used in the weapons that were designed along with it, limiting its overall usage in the battlefield. This has not yet proven to be a hindrance to the Elite, however, as they too are rarely deployed to the battlefield due to their small numbers compared to the larger forces of the Dread Ascendancy.
