Covert Jedi Robes

GZ4IJ5yYGl1_GJoZPigoeHiWBHh3_lLEu1q4s1viquw.jpg

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create easy-to-access Jedi Robes for the Silver Jedi Order. Jedi Robes which can be sneaky.
  • Image Source: Reddit: Polmaid. The art should be from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II
  • Canon Link: Jedi Robes
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Simple Jedi Robes are being modified to create a version for Jedi who wish to be more sneaky. Large parts of this submission will remain the same as the one I am modifying.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Phaseera Manufacturing
  • Affiliation: Silver Jedi Concord
  • Model: N/A
  • Modularity: Covert Jedi Robes comes in many shapes, sizes and colours. The cloth is not indestructible. Large swaths of it or small pieces can be cut out and replaced if the wearer so desires. Note that the cloth used is what grants the robes its sneaky properties.
  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Susurra weave, sunshield fabric, baffleweave, Adegan crystal weave
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Jedi Robes
  • Weight: Light
  • Resistances:
    • Energy: Average
    • Kinetic: Average
    • Lightsabers: Average
    • Elemental: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Adegan crystal weave: Helps a force sensitive wearer find peace and centre themselves. Is particularly helpful for focusing on stealth abilities.
STRENGTHS
  • Discrete: This is a robe and does necessarily draw much attention. The large hood can help keep the user's face hidden.
  • Sneaky: The Covert Jedi Robes are made out of fabrics which produce less noise, dampens light reflections.
  • Low encumbrance: These are simple robes and does not add much to the wearer's encumbrance. In short, they are easy to move around in.
  • Adegan crystal weave: Helps a force sensitive wearer find peace and centre themselves. Is particularly helpful for focusing on stealth abilities.
WEAKNESSES
  • The 'look': Jedi robes are recognised among large swaths of the galactic population.
  • Limited combat usefulness: These robes are not very useful in combat - they offer little in terms of protection.
  • Non-universal: The Adegan crystal weave may be generally helpful to help the wearer find peace and centre themselves in most cases - but not for those aligned with the dark side of the force. In fact, these robes will produce a pull to the light and thereby cause enough inner turmoil to make it harder to concentrate on force abilities in general.
DESCRIPTION
The Covert Jedi Robes are designed according to age-old customs with a relatively simple and elegant design. While the robes are not particularly useful in combat, they do give the wearer more flexibility and less encumbrance than armoured pieces.

Often times, the Covert Jedi Robes consists of an undertunic, an overtunic with a broad sash by the waist and then an outer robe. This varies from user to user, however and many forgo using the outer robe in order to add to their mobility. Others forgo the tunics and simply wear the outer robe on top of armour. The robe is typically characterised by its wide sleeves and deep hood. To many, the clothes can seem simple - in particular the outer robe. Others will recognise that the apparel is typically worn among Jedi - naturally, the likelihood of recognition increases when more traditional elements can be seen in the design the wearer have selected. Typically, Jedi who make use of these robes select less traditional and more mundane designs to avoid recognition.

The fabrics used to craft these robes are all specialised to hide the user from detection. Without usage of the force, the wearer can blend in in crowds and move silently in the Robes. If the wearer uses the force to hide themselves, however, the robes will aid them in this effort. This makes the robe popular among those who tend to participate in more covert missions and assignments. While it may not make them invisible, it can help them keep a low profile.

Hi,

Thank you for catching that and for all the other reviews you have done on my factory submissions the past few days.

A few changes have been made. The first is to give more precise credit and the following three are to amend the sneaky functionality of the robes.

Under image credit, I removed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republi from my guess of where it came from after a tip from Elijah Brockway.

In the last paragraph, second sentence, of the description it roughly used to say that it made it harder to be detected 'both by eye and by sensors' which has now been changed to 'by numerous sensors'.

The following weakness has been added:
Not all sensors: While the Covert Jedi Robes protects against many technological sensors, they do not protect against all technological sensors. Notably, it does not offer any particular protection against visual sensors - a security camera would still catch the robed figure, for instance.

Previously, I linked to the Wookipedia article on sensors in the Sneaky strength. I removed the link because it was a link to sensors in general while I want to be clear that it does not protect against all sensors.

I hope this resolves the issue, otherwise, I'll be glad to keep working on making it conform with the rules.

Thank you for the initial edits unfortunately

Particularly rare or powerful special features may necessitate using a lower level of production (cloaking technology, personal cloaking devices, gemcutters, crystal grav traps, moon dust, equivalent stealth or anti stealth technologies), or rare canon technologies (Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainers, etc) and their equivalents will only be permitted at Semi-Unique production.

Sensor blocking would fall under equivalent and production cannot pass semi-unique

Oh, I see. Frankly, I am surprised - I thought that a partial sensor block would be allowed to pass. Especially since visual sensors includes the most common type of sensor - namely cameras. Not to mention eyes.

I am not sure how far 'sensor blocking' goes but in an effort to try to conform to the rules, I have added a few lines of how the strength Sneaky is imperfect. I will colour the added change in orange below:
Sneaky: The Covert Jedi Robes are made out of fabrics which produce less noise, dampens light reflections and hides the user from many technological sensors. This protection is imperfect - if the person wearing the robes makes noise by speaking, for instance, the robes will not be able to cover that from being detected by audio-based sensors. The ability to remain hidden is often still reliant on the wearer.

My main goal of this submission is to create Jedi Robes which are easy to access which is why I look to reduce the stealth capabilities rather than to reduce the production. At any rate, I hope this will work out, if not, I will be happy to continue looking at it with you.

I mostly know it because I went through much of the same conversation when making my sub with sensor blocking as an effect in the last month. I had to drop it entirely from the sub to maintain the production level.

I would honestly recommend for the purposes and idea of your robes

Generally speaking the more powerful the submission becomes, the less of them there should be. The production range of a submission with alchemy or nanotechnology ranges between Unique and Minor. Please use the history and other parts of the submission to flesh out its power and potency. A Factory Judge is allowed to ask for more depth, if they believe that the submission needs a little bit more work to it.

Use a adegan crystal weave that calms the jedi's mind and allows them to focus better for stealth techniques. It can be at minor production and you get more stealth for your abilities.

Thank you for the advice. It helps a lot. I have tried to follow the recommendation without outright copying your words. In this effort, I have made numerous changes. I will try to list them but there is a real possibility that I miss a change.

  • Added Adegan crystal weave to materials.
  • Added Adegan crystal weave and its effect to Special Features.
  • Added Adegan crystal weave to Strengths with the same description as under Special Features
  • Reduced the Strength 'Sneaky' to only describe how the robes don't make much noise or reflect much light.
  • Removed the Weakness 'Not all sensors' - since the robes does not offer any notable protection against detection by sensors now, the weakness became redundant.
  • Added the Strength 'Non-universal' the robes will be detrimental to those aligned with the dark side of the force.
  • Changed the last paragraph of the description to not mention any form of sensor protection but to mention the possibility of aiding a force user in using stealthy abilities.

I think that should cover all the changes. In general, I tried to remove all mentions of any sensors and add in the Adegan crystal weave. Thanks once more for the advice. Let me know if any further adjustments are needed.
