  • Description: Coruscant Senate District General is a massive medical center located in Coruscant’s senate district, often referred to as just Coruscant General or CoreGen. CoreGen is one of the world’s largest and most advanced medical facilities, always on the cutting edge of research and patient care. Aside from a massive emergency room and inpatient area, CoreGen covers a multitude of specialties that many smaller hospitals do not. Because of their ability to handle the most advanced of trauma and illnesses, CoreGen sees many daily inpatient transfers from smaller medical facilities. Despite the high cost of receiving treatment, people from all districts of Coruscant seek care at CoreGen simply for the quality of care, something not easily found on the lower levels of the city planet.

CoreGen puts a huge amount of effort in ensuring that its facilities are as sterile as possible. Air scrubbers are a common sight in nearly any part of the hospital, filtering the air wherever they go and keeping it clean and disease free. Several exam and patient rooms are also equipped with environmental converters to serve a more diverse population of alien species should the need arise. Both security droids and organic security guards are on hand to break up any fights, put down any potential threats and contain unruly patients.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Coruscant General was initially founded by a group of well-meaning physicians. Though they had good intentions, the doctors were not well versed in how to own and operate a business and ended up selling the hospital to a private medical group based in the Senate district of Coruscant. This private group has controlled the hospital since it was a small, single building and has helped it flourish into a multi-level facility with smaller satellite hospitals and clinics all over Coruscant.

Because of the location of CoreGen, a number of high cost investments went into the medical center in order to ensure the highest quality of care. Since then, CoreGen has always had the latest equipment, a talented staff of specialists (some of galactic renown) and is capable of handling the most complex procedures and delicate of diseases. CoreGen is also on the cutting edge of galactic medical research, funneling millions of credits into the study of genetics, xenobiology and cybernetics and boasts several large research labs. The hospital also sponsors medical scholarships for university students and has well-established residency programs in its many specialties.

While CoreGen initially served primarily the population of the Senate district, people from all over Coruscant make their way to this facility simply because of the high quality treatment that may be difficult to find elsewhere. In a response to this, CoreGen does a heavy amount of philanthropic work in an attempt to dispel any ‘money grubbing’ or ‘rich only’ aura it may have. The hospital established a number of clinics and care centers across the various Coruscant districts and often sends teams of doctors on missions to underdeveloped worlds. As a for-profit hospital, CoreGen continues to thrive and expand.
