Private Corruptive Vestiges

Some would consider the political backstabbing amongst nobles as being truly insidious. But to Bryngaar, it was something else entirely that brought him to this planet.

Ukatis had certainly had a tumultuous history, but it had certainly been shaken in the more recent years. From personal strife amongst the noble families, to having their capital city being assaulted by the Mandalorian Enclave. But in between those events had been something much more dark and corruptive.

Within Faron territory, near the long abandoned village of Anatol, a dark sided Force nexus had taken root through the forests there. Its twisted nature led to the spawning of terrifying creatures, and corrupting the neighbouring fauna. Originally discovered by Master Valery Noble and her Padawan Corazona von Ascania, they later led a task force to cleanse the Nexus.

Reports indicated that the group were ultimately successful, but it would take a long time for the land to properly heal. But the Ukatian people could breathe a little easier without the thread of corrupted creatures trying to kill them.

If only that had been the end of it…

Not long after the Enclave’s attack on Ukatis, reports started coming in of wild animals being sighted far from their usual locales. Getting dangerously close to outlying refugee camps, until a small pack of them outright attacked a small camp.

There had only been one survivor from it, who had managed to stumble his way to the next nearest camp. Bryngaar had arrived shortly after, having heard the reports and hurried over to provide assistance. And while he might’ve been too late to save the camp, he was able to ensure they got him.

Bryngaar sent a formal request to the New Jedi Order, specifically their Chief Healer; Amani Serys-Organa. He informed her of the recent reports that there was a chance that some of the Nexus-corrupted creatures were still around. If it weren’t for the ongoing conflict with the Enclave, he would’ve requested more numbers, but he felt jointly they could investigate and potentially deal with the matter.

Amani’s ship would arrive just outside the camp where Bryngaar was, where the wounded survivor was currently being treated. A small floating droid; Ceres, would be there to greet her.

Welcome, Master Serys-Organa. Master Bryngaar appreciates that you accepted his request. If you follow me, I’ll take you to him.” Ceres bobbed a little in the air, before turning around and began to lead the way. Only to suddenly stop and turn back around to Amani. “Before we do though, how is your Shyriiwook?

Reports from Ukatis just kept coming in. It seemed the planet hadn't suffered enough in the invasion, as now it was dealing with a resurgent dark nexus, agitated by the strife of warfare.

This nexus had been dealt with once before, but events like this had a habit of reopening old wounds. This wasn't Amani's first experience with such phenomena, but it was her first time seeing this particular nexus. And it was also her first time meeting this Master Bryngaar. He wasn't quite affiliated with the NJO, but a Jedi was a Jedi nonetheless. It would be good to have his assistance, and she was happy to provide hers in turn.

Upon her arrival to the encampment, Amani was greeted by a small droid, presumably belonging to Bryngaar himself. "Thank you," She replied, stopping after just a few feet as the droid did. The mirialan stood a little taller as if with pride, "I was trained by the Silvers on Kashyyyk. I can't claim to speak it well, but I can understand it just fine."

Ah, wonderful! Less work for me then.” Ceres almost sounded cheerful at that prospect. “Right this way.” The little droid spun in the air once more, leading Amani deeper into the camp.

She was brought to one of the larger tents, where within was a small group of people huddled around a holotable. There were a few members of the Alliance relief team, a couple Ukatian representatives, and of course the towering form of Bryngaar, who presently has his back to the entrance.

Master Amani has arrived,” Ceres announced, as he floated over to the Wookiee. The Jedi Master turned around, stepping away from the table and approached Amani.

[“Welcome back to Ukatis, Chief Healer.”] He began, offering her a small bow of his head. [“It is greatly appreciated that you accepted my request.”] Bryngaar’s mouth shifted into a smile as he looked down at her. [“And I hear congratulations are in order, on becoming a Jedi Master.”]

Amani snorted, and followed the droid through the camp and into the central tent. It was spacious, and fitted as the command center for this relief operation. A group of figures huddled around a table, and even with his back turned the towering, wooly frame of Bryngaar was the most obvious among them. Amani stopped a few paces in, letting the master meet her halfway. She nearly had to crane her back just to make eye contact.

"Sooner than I should like," Amani commented wryly. It wasn't anything against Ukatis itself (certain politics notwithstanding), but her presence here was a consequence of trouble, brought about by an already destructive battle. "I am glad to help however I can. The Ukatians deserve a bit of a break." She couldn't help a more genuine, bashful smile as Bryngaar offered her compliments. She was ascended to Master shortly after the invasion; It was bittersweet in a way, effectively being rewarded for what was a failure on the Alliance's part. But she understood the achievement was built on far more than that, no matter how humble she remained about it.

"Thank you. It's… a lot to process. But I'm as excited as I am nervous." She dipped her head, then glanced over at the table, "So, what's the rundown on our situation?"
