  • Description: The Coronet Wilds was once a lush and generous farming paradise with good soil and clean country air. After the Breaking, however, most of the smaller cities, towns, and homesteads that provided foodstuffs and booze for the cities of Coronet and Tyrena were destroyed. Now, after a few decades of recovery under Arceneau Trade biodomes, the land has been opened up again for resettlement. Where before only the foolish and Green Jedi braved the lands now human life returns. With many of Corellia's own species incredibly endangered, large portions of the Wilds were secluded as wildlife sanctuaries. Rolling grassy hills, thick forests, swamps, mountains, and beaches covered what remained of the Southern Continent. The Coronet Wilds were a new frontier for the people of Corellia.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Thaos Mountains
- Once a prized mountain range, the near-total destruction of Corellia eradicated nearly 50% of the Thaos Mountains. The Thaos Mountains still trace what is left of the Southern Continent's east coast, though many of the winter sports resorts that the region relied on have all but vanished. Now it mostly sees sporadic visitors and daring hikers. It is still one of the Southern Continent's most beautiful natural wonders.

The Plains - Generally what people think of when you mention the Coronet Wilds, The Plains were where most hardy Corellians tried to make their way out in the new frontier. It is dotted with small and growing settlements as well as individual homesteads as the surviving farming families try to regain their way of life. A rail line has been proposed several times leading from Coronet and through the Plains regions' largest settlements and ending at Tryena, the Southern Continent's only other city that survived the Breaking. Fierce predators, swoop gang raiders, outlaws, and bootleggers make up the bulk of the region's threats. CorSec Troopers have a small handful of outposts in the Wilds with their main base of operations being in the Plains.

Deadlands - The area just outside and northwest of Coronet City, the Deadlands were a harsh desert-like landscape. While it did rain, the presence of the nearby Netherworld rift has sapped the area of life leaving the ground dry, black, and cracked. Reports of spirits and strange happenings have made the area treacherous to travel through on speeder or foot and most avoid it out of superstition. A top-secret joint CorSec Intelligence CorDef base sits between the Rift and the rest of the Deadlands.

Green Jedi Outpost - A small outpost for the Green Jedi. It was strategically located in the center of the most populous settlements but services the entire Wilds region with rescues into the Thaos Mountains, property disputes, and when CorDef can't get there fast enough, raiders.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Once the heartland of Corellia, the Southern Continent lost everything in the Breaking. Though Coronet and Tyrena barely survived the ordeal, if survival was even accurate, the same could not be said for the rural communities of the rest of the continent. For decades biodomes sat in place over large swaths of Corellia, protecting it from the dangers of merging two planets. However, even after the domes were removed the land remained nearly lifeless. Both Coronet and Tyrena grew exponentially with Coronet taking up as much as 40% of the continent but the survivors who were raised on farms and came from that life weren't happy with the city life. Suddenly without warning, there was an exodus with many choosing to live in Socorro's Belt or just flat out leaving the city and trying their best out in the Wilds. Unfortunately, some saw this as an opportunity. A sharp spike in swoop gangs in the wilds forced the Diktat to enact strict restrictions on who could and couldn't be in the WIlds for extended periods of time. That eventually turned into the Corellian New Frontier law which marked homesteaders and farmers as a protected community on Corellia and offered them special privileges in the Wilds. It also empowered and commanded CorSec to supply some sort of protection for the "Coronet Frontier".

Between swoop gangs, CorSec Troopers, and homesteaders just trying to make a life for themselves, a strange balance has been achieved. Not everyone agrees with the state of the Wilds, with some homesteaders thinking CorDef doesn't do enough to protect them from raiders and some thinking they are abusing their power but one thing is for certain. Growth. In the few short years that the bill has been active at least one small settlement has grown to be a small city and more than a handful of towns have sprung up. The New Frontier is still growing and despite its dangers, the people of Corellia endure.
