GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Media Name: Corellian Defense Force Modernization Project Plan
  • Format: Official Holo document (with accompanying Flimisi for official purposes) along with a holorecording of Lisza Starseeker giving a speech.
  • Distribution: Planetary
  • Length: Long
  • Description: The Corellian Defense Force Modernization Project Plan was a lengthy legal document detailing the neccesity for Corellia to retake control of its own defense and the need to repulse the Sith Empire from its system and sector. Stemming from the more conservative side of Corellian politics, the document was written in a multipartisan manner with various small policies injected into the main body of legislation providing less harsh sentences for smuggling certain essentials into the system such as particular medicines, foodstufffs, and water, while promising increased CorSec patrols as well as promising an increase in the defense budget with a focus on contracting local Corellian shipwrights and companies to supply the new defense force with ships and gear.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Author: Corellian Confederation
  • Publisher: Corellian Confederation
  • Reception: While some policies within the document were seen as unneeded and overly aggressive, for the most part it was a well received document and speech as it called for the removal of the Sith Empire from Corellian space and called for further independence from Galactic powers. The increase in political and military power given to the director of the new Corellian Defense Force which included significant budget increases to CorSec's intelligence offices was not well received by local dock owners and even the Coronet Starport lobby as Director Basali had proven to be incredibly heavy handed with his handling of shipping rights, smugglers, and private dock licences.
CONTENT INFORMATION
The contents of the Corellian Defense Force Modernization Plan included several stages and gave the direction the Corellian Government was to take in the coming months. It outlined several Corellian and foreign based companies that would recieve military contracts as well as for how long. In its pages the modernization plan was essentially a large budget increase to Corellia's military spending which would see the reinstatement of the Corellian Defense Force which had been so undercut by the government that many had assumed that the CDF and CorSec were one and the same. In its pages Director Basali would remain the highest ranking military official and would control both the CDF and CorSec while also outlining certain crimes that would see sentences reduced in severity with the caveat that CorSec would increase its presence in the spacelanes of the Corellia System and eventually the Corellian Sector.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
During its brief time as a member system of the Galactic Alliance the Corellian system had slowly begun to find its independent stride again. After the remnants of the One Sith attacked Coronet, its homegrown starfighters and the massive Colony-Class battlecruisers that were designed by Corellian shipwrights were proven to be instrumental in its defense. A political splinter group called "Corellia First", which had come into mainstream politics due to the success of the Coruscant First group, called for complete independence from any large government. They also called for stricter policing of Corellia's cities and spacelanes. The Director of CorSec was rumored to be a part of this group and slowly began pushing reforms within CorSec that called for harsher punishments for crimes. These sentiments only grew after the modest defense force given to them by the Galactic Alliance was forced to redeploy during the battles of Coruscant and Fondor.

When word came back to them that the Galactic Alliance had fallen this galvanized many who were on the fence or had historically been less conservative to push for new change. Unfortunately the Sith Empire was quick to make their presence known in the system with a small task force dedicated to keeping the rebellious system down. After increasing pressure from CorSec and other political groups Lisza Starseeker left to meet with several other systems and returned with a proposition that was readily accepted by the rest of the Corellian government and CorSec. Riding on the curtails of her diplomatic mission she achieved the position of Prime Minister with promises to various political factions that an increase in military spending and a proper defense force was on the rise. Within a week of the ICO declaring its intent to the rest of the Galaxy, the Corellian Confederation produced this document, much to the ire of the Sith Empire's task force. While the task force and the Sith Empire's extended influence remained the document was written in such a way that it did not heavily conflict with the Sith Empire's assumed control over the system. Deals were made and construction of the new warships began somewhere in the Corellian Sector.
