OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create a new GenPal for their ‘Aquatics’ line.

  • Image Credit: Chatsticker | GenPals Logos created by me.

  • Canon: N/A

  • Links: Created by GenPals
GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Name: Coral Cuties ™

  • Designation: Non-Sentient

  • Homeworld: Farana, GenPals Labs, Engineered Species

  • Language: N/A

  • Average Lifespan: 7-12 years

  • Estimated Population: Scattered (Manufactured)

  • Description: Colourful and sessile, Coral Cuties ™ appear more plant than animal, but are most definitely animals. Unmoving filter feeders, they were created to brighten and decorate GenPals Aquariums and offer a very low maintenance addition to the Aquatics line.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION

  • Breathes: Aquatic

  • Average height of adults: 7cm

  • Average width of adults: 2.5cm at the base, wider at the top.

  • Skin color: Coral Cuties ™ are available in any colour of the rainbow.

  • Fur color: N/A

  • Distinctions: Coral Cuties ™ are aquarium or sea biome dwelling companions. Stationary once placed, they come in a variety of shapes and colours. Some are stiff and unmoving the currents, while others appear almost flora in their efflorescence, offering gently swaying fronds in the gentle waters of a GenPals aquarium. While not true faces, all Coral Cuties ™ appear to have happy, smiling impressions on their main trunks.

  • Races: N/A

  • Strengths:
(+)Adorable: Come on, look at it. It’s cute af.
(+)Low Maintenance: Coral Cuties ™ require minimal care and attention, able to be left alone (provided an automatic feeder is purchased) for significant lengths of time.
(+)Compatible: Coral Cuties™ are compatible with all other GenPals Aquatic companions and can live together harmoniously.

  • Weaknesses:
(-)Non-Combat: These are pets! Geez what’s wrong with you. You should be ashamed.
(-)Sterile: Like all GenPals animals, Coral Cuties ™ are sterile to discourage irresponsible breeding.
(-)Proprietary: Like all GenPals animals, Coral Cuties ™ require GenPal brand food to remain healthy and within warranty. GenPals animals fed non-branded food will eventually weaken and possibly die, as they are engineered with certain nutrition needs only their proprietary blend contains in the right ratios.

CULTURE

  • Diet: GenPals Brand Aquarium Flakes. Coral Cuties ™ should not be fed off brand food or it will void their warranty.

  • Communication: None

  • Technology level: N/A

  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A

  • General behavior: Much likes Smollacs ™, Coral Cuties ™ are more in the ‘look don’t touch’ category of pets. Beautiful and delicate, with the impression that they are always happy to see you (even if they are ambivalent), Coral Cuties ™ do react to certain stimuli- change in temperature, movement of the water around them- and can seem to interact with other denizens of their tank in cute little dances when in reality it is mostly the water itself doing most of the moving. They are better appreciated for their beauty than their capacity as companions.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The original pitch was ‘Living Art’. Despite the vast, initial troubles (both logistic and moral), eventually the idea of an aquatic line of creatures that could be maintained easily in the home was born. Rather than make these familiar species, GenPals scientists focused on the visual appeal, not merely of appearance but also behavior and temperament, to create a number of offerings that would be able to build harmoniously on each other and make each self contained aquarium unique. In the case of Coral Cuties ™ the focus was largely on appearance, rather than other factors. While living, breathing things, these are not deeply interactive, but better to enhance the beauty of other GenPals aquatics.

With a wide variety of sizes and appearances available, the Coral Cuties™ were the second of the Aquatics line to be completed and offered on the market.
