Retrofit Orbital Shipyard, Kesh.

Balun Dashiell sat at his desk within the glass-paneled confines of his office aboard the Dashiell Retrofit™ Orbital Foundry, a quiet hum of repulsorlifts and shipyard activity thrumming faintly through the durasteel flooring beneath his boots. Before him, a datapad glowed softly with progress reports—status updates on the latest product line of starships being assembled by the skilled hands of the Engineering and Fabrication staff stationed on-site. Meanwhile, the Research & Development teams were immersed in dual pursuits: drafting innovative new vessel designs and scouring archives for decommissioned ships ripe for revival. After all, Dashiell Retrofit™ had been founded on the principle of breathing new life into forgotten tech—refitting relics of the past into marvels of the modern era.

Though Balun was the company's head, his identity extended far beyond the title of executive. His lifestyle—part entrepreneur, part wanderer, and Force-sensitive guardian—was no secret among the personnel stationed in orbit above the jungle world of Kesh. Until recently, however, few paid his Force affinity any serious attention. That changed the day Lady Falentra, a dark figure from his past, breached the station's security and launched an attack with one goal: abducting their child. The skirmish had put the station and its crew in grave danger, and Balun had stood alone between her and the lives at risk. He emerged victorious, but not unchanged. The encounter had shattered the image of Balun as a carefree bachelor coasting through life, and in its place, his employees had come to recognize the weight of the double life he bore—and why his absences from the shipyard often took him across the stars.

Yet, even in his absence, the wheels of the company turned with precision. A trusted cadre of Command and Operations staff kept the station functioning at peak efficiency. Dockmasters monitored ship construction across hangars and drydocks. Logistics officers coordinated supply chains and interdepartmental workflows. Shift managers and fabrication foremen ensured day-to-day operations flowed with minimal disruption. Balun had handpicked his leadership team with care, trusting them to maintain the rhythm of the yard without his direct oversight. His datapad kept him tethered—granting access to everything from maintenance schedules to administrative records at the tap of a finger.

He thumbed through another line item before lifting the device to speak into the built-in comm.
"Malynka, I'm forwarding a file. Can you have Admin review it for errors before we pass it up to Dashiell Incorporated?" he requested, his tone calm but clipped with the precision of long habit.

A moment later, his receptionist's voice filtered through the comm system, cheery as ever.
"Not a problem, Bale. Oh—and don't forget, you've got that appointment coming up. A Mr. Aiden Porte. He's here about a job."

Balun leaned back in his chair, brow creasing as the name clicked belatedly into place.
"Right… of course. Send him in when he arrives. Thanks, Mal."

More often than not Aiden had planned on branching out, while the life of a Jedi was good, in reality it wasn't something that he got paid for. And while his fathers work with John Locke had provided with more than enough financial stability for the family. He really wanted to do something to help for himself, just so it wasn't that he was relying on the family's money. Aiden was never the extravagant type or anything of that sort. He was always willing to help those out and offer whatever he could.

The Jedi Padawan had received word that Dashiel retrofit was indeed looking for workers, employees of the sort. And while he wanted to do what he could to help himself as well as those around him. He knew this couldn't quite interfere with his duties to Naboo or even the Shiraya Order. Who knew? Perhaps there were chances of this Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell placing an small headquarters on Naboo.

Maybe...

Aiden arrived in good time, donned in some normal everyday clothes, his lightsaber clipped to his belt and a blaster pistol at his side.

"My name is Aiden Porte, here for a meeting with Mr. Balun Dashiell." The Jedi Padawan inquired, as he was then motioned to proceed as he had been expecting him.

The Jedi Padawan moved forward, and he couldn't help but to look around at the entirety of the place. It was new and it was really cool looking. Aiden walked forward as he showed a smile to Balun. He extended his hand towards him.

"Thank you for meeting with me Balun, Mr. Dashiell" He said with a sincere voice and smile.

As the office doors slid open with a soft hiss, Balun Dashiell rose from his seat, datapad still in hand, before placing it gently on the edge of his desk. He stepped out from behind the large slab of polished durasteel and alloy, its surface gleaming under the ambient light that filtered in from the massive viewport dominating the back wall. Behind him stretched the panoramic view of the orbital manufacturing station—an awe-inspiring expanse of scaffolds, hangar bays, and starships in varying stages of construction. Massive hulls hovered in zero-G cradles while tiny sparks of welders danced like stars in a dark nebula. It was a sight that often stole the breath of newcomers.

But Balun paid it little mind now. He preferred not to let the weight of his office—or the scenery—create any imbalance in a conversation. Rather than remain behind the desk like a corporate overseer, he made it a point to meet visitors eye-to-eye, placing value on mutual respect. For all the power and prestige that came with his role as head of Dashiell Retrofit™, Balun had never taken naturally to hierarchical pomp unless circumstances truly called for it.

As Aiden Porte Aiden Porte stepped inside, Balun crossed the room and extended his hand. "Mr. Porte. It's a pleasure," he said warmly, clasping the other man's hand in a firm, confident shake.

It would be difficult not to notice just how young he was—only twenty-four, and already helming a company responsible for large-scale production contracts across the sector. Much of that success owed itself to the foundation laid by his father, Judah Dashiell, but Balun had done more than rest on inherited privilege. In the time since taking the reins, he had proven his mettle, transforming the company from a salvage yard subsidiary into a profitable, multi-sector operation. There was grit beneath the polished exterior.

Balun took a few easy steps to the side, motioning for Aiden to follow toward a pair of low, leather-backed chairs set beside a refreshment stand. He didn't sit just yet.

"I'll admit, I was a little surprised when your name came across my desk," Balun began, his tone thoughtful rather than sceptical. "Given your ties to the Royal Naboo Republic, I wasn't expecting you to be seeking work outside of that circle. I'm not certain how deep those ties go, but I've heard your name come up more than once lately—impressive résumé, by the way."

He gave a small nod before continuing, curiosity glinting behind his eyes. "Mind if I ask—what brings you to Dashiell Retrofit™?"

Aiden nodded and smile respectfully towards Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell after the hand shake broke.

"Thank you, Mr. Dashiell. Its a pleasure to meet you. And to be honest, I'm just looking to branch out I suppose. I potentially would be able to secure a job with Mr. John Locke with Locke and Key Mechanics that has an office on Naboo. My is working....or rather was working for him."

Aiden cleared his throat as he readjusted himself in the seat before continued.

"Nonetheless I want to try and expand on my own. I have worked with many different states of military within the Royal Naboo Republic. I am in no means an expert in building and creating. But in regards to testing something out and seeing how it would work well for a customer, like weapons. That's something I could potentially do, if there is such a position that requires that."

"There's no denying the success of Locke & Key Mechanics," Balun remarked with a wry smile, reaching into the inner pocket of his jacket to retrieve a slim cigarra case. With a casual flick of his wrist, he opened the container and offered one to Aiden Porte Aiden Porte , a small gesture of hospitality that matched the relaxed but focused tone of their meeting. Sliding one between his lips, Balun lit the end with a sleek ignition flare and drew in a slow, measured breath, exhaling a thin stream of smoke toward the ceiling.

Though Locke & Key was, on paper, a competitor—and a formidable one at that—Balun's expression betrayed no envy, only a kind of respect for John Locke John Locke . Dashiell Retrofit™ may have been growing steadily, but Locke & Key was already a household name in the tech and manufacturing sectors across the Mid and Outer Rims.

"I've had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Locke once before," Balun continued, his voice even, his words carrying a note of honest admiration. "Sharp mind. Couldn't fault you for pursuing a position under someone like that." He gave a quiet chuckle, acknowledging how such a statement might seem self-defeating in the context of a recruitment discussion—but Balun wasn't the type to sell false promises. Transparency earned better loyalty.

He took another thoughtful draw of his cigarra before continuing, shifting gears. "From the sound of what you're looking for, I'd say Research and Development is the right place. It's one of our more dynamic divisions. Our teams there don't just sketch designs and push paper—they conceptualise, build, and test prototype systems. Everything from microdrive reactors to full-scale hull integrations."

Balun paused, offering a nod toward the viewport where one of the company's newer frigate frames was being outfitted. "Now, the new fleet line—those vessels are undergoing trials under commissioned Naval officers. But for almost everything else, the R&D staff are at the heart of the test phase. You'd be elbow-deep in systems analysis and performance metrics, and if you're inclined, I'd welcome your input on new product directions as well. Innovation's always welcome here."

His tone shifted just slightly, not colder, but firmer. "That said, I have to state the obvious—anything within R&D falls under strict confidentiality. I'm sure you understand. We're not dealing in military-grade contracts yet, nor are we producing for any high-profile government clients—but proprietary designs, performance data, internal processes... all of it needs to remain internal until we're ready for market."

He leaned back slightly, tapping the ash from the cigarra into a small tray near the arm of his chair.

"I trust that wouldn't be an issue?"
