STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • High Speed. The Consular-class boasted better than average velocities, including speeds up to 950 kp/h in atmosphere.
  • Science Vessel. The Consular-class has exceptional com-scan capabilities, being designed as a exploration vehicle. It's long-range detection and ranging capabilities were on par with ships many times larger than it was.
  • Planetfall Profile. The design of the Consular-class allowed for both interstellar and atmospheric operation.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightly armed.
  • Unique Electromagnetic Signature. Corellia Digital vessels use a unique Hoersch-Kessel ion drive design for their main propulsion. The resulting engine wash is faintly radioactive. This electromagnetic signature was distinguishable from background cosmic radiation and allowed the vessels to be tracked or detected.
  • Atmospheric to Interstellar Transition Delay. The dual-drive engines of the Consular-class automatically handle power distribution between the hyperdrive, ion drive, and repulsorlift generators in order to maximize performance depending on flight profile (atmospheric or interstellar). Because of this, the hyperdrive is disabled while the ship is flying on repulsorship (inside planetary gravity). When the repulsorlift is disabled, there is a delay before the hyperdrive comes on-line.
DESCRIPTION
The first starship model produced by Corellia Digital's defense subsidiary, the CD-5 is a frigate with significant long-range scientific application. Classified by the company as a light explorer, the primary niche for the CD-5 is as an exploratory or patrol vessel, with possible diplomatic application as a courier. The CD-5 uses automation to optimize manning at a crew of 168 personnel. The CD 3.2 hyperdrive was nominally designed to travel at 1.0 lightspeed and paired into a dual-drive propulsion configuration that produced above average sublight velocities. Atmospheric flight profiles demonstrated top speeds of 950 kp/h.

The CD-5 is constructed in the Corellian System. Parts for the CD-5 are manufactured at fabrication facilities on Talus and Tralus. Final assembly is conducted at shipyards over Selonia.
