Consolation Between Soulmates

And so his master was put to rest; the reason for his continued existence, taken from him by the hands of fate. The funeral had ended, and Thurion could do nothing but remain by her grave, humming to himself the songs she'd sing to comfort him. Even now he imagined himself being cradled in her arms, listening to her heartbeats. He found himself in a trance, unable to shake the vivid sensation. But then, suddenly, a loud thunderclap echoed through the skies above, and soon lightning rode along with it, prompting another loud echo. It snapped him awake, realising it had been hours since the others had left the scene. Looking around him in a confused state, he could not find the one thing he wanted - the one thing he needed: "Kitty...?"

He stood up, trembling at the loud burts of booming noises of the thunder. It was something he carried with him since his early days at Pelagar; a planet made of water had a bad habit of recurring thunderstorms, something little Thurion had always been terrified of. Luckily he had his brother there to comfort him and take his mind off it. Now, on Teth, even though he was older, the thunder still instilled fear in him. While he did not jump at the sudden noises anymore, he did feel discomfort. Despite his anxiety he stumbled away from the grave in search of @[member="Daux"]. First thing he did was looking in their room, but no Kitty was lying in his bed, nor her own. Puzzled by the fact, he went back down the stairs and out onto the courtyard. No Kitty here, either.

There was a small forest not far from the temple, he remembered. Maybe that's were she went? On Tython she would often wander into the woods and assume her beastial form. Part of him thought that maybe she preferred the form of a cat rather than that of a human girl. He was sure it nothing with not wanting to be with him, but it was obvious she desired the wilds more than the constricting nature of a temple. Walking through the woods, calling out her name to let her know he was looking for her, the weather soon turned to the worse as raindrops fell from the dark sky above. "Kitty!" he cried out at the top of his lungs as the wind increased, drowning out his words. It started pouring, and Thurion found himself getting drenched and freezing cold as he ventured further into the woods, desperately trying to find his friend.

Daux had waited as patiently as she could on the very edge of the forest, while the funeral was directed and long after - when one by one the individuals left until only her Furry remained. The Furry who would not even look at her any more, and had barely spoken to her or fussed her in days. Had she done something wrong? The tiny little girl, now in her cat form, did not know. Eventually she turned to stalk into the forest; perhaps the thrill of the hunt would clear her clouded mind and let her see things more clearly. Pounding and pouncing through the forest the young girl spent hours chasing after stray butterflies, roaming felines and little predators, growling and yapping and meowing, but never purring. No, she could not bring herself to do that.

Instead the predatory creature continued to roam further and further afield, her shoulders rolling with each intense step. Her body lowered into the grass when she finally found what she would make her dinner. How long had it been since she'd feasted on raw flesh and delved into her truly animalistic side? A very long time - Jaxton did not approve, but in this form... Well all of that was a fleeting memory, and the scent of her prey dragged her on. Finally she found it, a small deer-esque creature which was roaming. Lower still her body went until she was prowling. In one quick decisive moment she leapt out and snapped her jaw around it, taking out all her annoyance on the creature itself until its body no longer shuddered and convulsed in pain. It lay there before bleeding out - she had caught it by the jugular, it seemed she hadn't forgotten how to hunt after all.

Then she tore open its stomach with her strong jaws and began to indulge in its sweet, bloodied flesh, maw nuzzling further down, streaking with the crimson lifeforce that had already left the creature. The apparent loss of her Furry had taken away all that had become human about her, and returned her feral, predatory state. Yet the sudden thought of him made her convulse, and in a few moments she was backing away; she could hear him, it was as though he were in her mind, his voice echoing louder than even the thunder which clapped around her. There, in the trees. Leaving her fallen catch for the other wild beasties she began to prowl; eventually she found him, but she did not approach, instead she lowered her head down and growled at him to show her lack of understanding towards what was happening - she did not understand what had happened, or why he was being so distant.

Yet in response she herself had forced herself to become distant. Amongst the low, rumbling, threatening growls there was a small whimper of affection and loss. She missed him dearly...

Exhausted and soaking wet, the boy finally laid eyes upon the beastial form of his friend Daux, who were hiding in the bushes with a low, menacing growl. Too tired to show his overjoyment for having found her, at last, he tried to make his way to her. "Kitty, it's me..." he said between heavy breaths, but the cat seemed unusually territorial, almost hostile towards him. Never had she growled at him before and meant it, which led him to believe he had wronged her in some manner. When attempting to step towards her the growling increased, so he chose not to. "Kitty... Kitty, it's me, Furry." He slumped to his knees, down onto the muddy ground in the pouring rain. "It's your Furry, Kitty..." Reaching out to his friend he tried to convince her it was him, and that he wished her no harm. Tears ran down the boys cheeks, but they were impossible to make out as they mixed with the drops of rain. "Please, Kitty! I'm sorry! I'm sorry, Kitty!" The realisation that he may lose her as well hit him, and he felt sick inside. She was all he had left now, and should she turn her back on him there was nothing for him to live for anymore.

Still growling the little girl in her feral form began to step closer; each step was threatening, intimidating, that is until he fell to the ground, sobbing. It made her realise that she may have mistaken him, that perhaps he wasn't dismissing her and casting her aside at all. The growlings stopped, instead replaced by a sudden intense whimper. Without thinking she launched herself towards him, and toppled his crouched body into the mud, but she didn't care; she had her Furry back. Her tongue moved against his cheek, his face, his hands while she nuzzled up against him, finally achieving the state through which she could purr. Her obvious attachment to him had returned, increased ten fold...

When all hope seemed to be lost, there she was - licking and nuzzling on top of him, her old self again. It did not stop him from sobbing, however, only these were tears of joy. All sense of her abandoning him disappeared, and a joyous smile replaced his previous frown. Hugging the large cat to the best of his abilities, her warm fur warmed his every inch. "I love you, Daux!" he cried out for everyone and anyone to hear, despite there being nobody else around. Once the moment of overjoyous consolation had passed between the two, he tilted his head up and kissed her on her big nose, before their eyes met. His blue met her emerald ones, just as it had been during their first ever meeting on Tython four years earlier, and just as he was bewitched by them back then, he was now entranced beyond rescue. There was nothing that could make him abandon his love for her, even should there be galaxies between the two, or armies blocking his path for miles upon miles. It was at that very moment, also, that he knew the definition of true love. "I love you, Daux..." he whispered.

The cat-girl remained in the feral form, rather than that of her human form. She wasn't sure why, and even as she continued to lick and nuzzle up against him it grew more perplexing to her. She wanted to return to the state which couldn't hurt him, so she could nip and bite and paw at him. Furry did not seem to mind that she was a large cat, nor even that she was largely covered in blood from her fallen catch, but it mattered to her, for whatever unknown, subconscious reason. She couldn't even speak to him, instead she just nudged at him to get his attention and whimpered, stepping back to paw at the ground in frustration. It was clear that something was wrong, but Daux had no way of informing him. She even began to pace around in circles, head lowered as though in a manic frenzy. Every so often she would gently, and affectionately, nudge him to show she was still there and still cared about him, however.

Despite her large cat-eyes, he could see in her something was not as it should be. She circled around him, head lowered as if pleading him for something. "What's wrong, Kitty?" Soon it became clear to the boy that she seemed unable to change back for some reason. The distressed look on her furry face was enough to make him aware of the situation. She wanted to turn, but couldn't. Unable to keep his hands off of her for long, he took a step towards her firmly hugged her soft coat of fur. He didn't care what form she took, he would love her no matter what. "It's okay, Kitty. I doesn't matter what form you take; you're still you, and I still love you." His hand caressed her silky mane while the other scratched her gently behind the ear. "I'll always love you, Dauxy..."

His affection seemed to ease her up ever so slightly, so much so that the little kitty began to curl up and attempted to pull him down too, nuzzling up against him as she tried as best as she could to revert back to her usual form. A small growl left her but it was one of pure affection as she tried to likewise condole him, her rough tongue making its way across the palm of the hand which caressed her mane. It was a simple action and yet its meaning was obvious. All the same Daux was frustrated that she could not return to her human state, she wanted to return home with Furry again, she wanted everything to be okay.

Gripping the warm fur of her mane, Thurion pull her into him as he lay upon the ground, burying his face into her purring cheek. A stream of tears erupted from the corners of his eyes, along with the sobbing one would associate with doing so. It was a blend of different things; the loss of Asha, mixed with the embrace of his Kitty, was too much to not react to, and so he cried tears of both joy and sadness. No longer was he on Teth and its jungles, but in his mind it was four years prior, back on Pelagon with Asha holding him for the first time. He had called her 'mom' on several occasions, most of them unintentional, for that was what she was to him, then and now. His old life had not mattered before meeting Asha; she alone gave him purpose and enabled his continued existence. And now she was gone. But not all was lost, for his Kitty was there with him still, and always would be regardless of where fate would take the two. "Oh, Kitty... I miss Asha..." he managed to push out of him in between sobs.

In her feline state she did all that she knew how to. She pushed her nose under his body and hoisted him up onto her back, allowing him to lie against her fur as she began to traverse the forest, shifting her gaze from left to right with a few sniffs of the wind. After a moment she caught onto her trail and began to venture back towards the Temple, making sure that her companion remained upon her back. She was growing tired, and knew that soon she would naturally revert back to her human self even if she had no control over it herself. This made her pick up the pace, while ensuring he did not fall off. Furry meant the world to her.
