Private Consequences of Violence

After a recent attempt on my life when I travelled back home after visiting Coruscant and Naboo, I felt vulnerable. My parents balk at physical combat. The real battle is on the political stage afterall. It is through what happens there that can result in war. But it is not the politician that fights in the wars. However they do fund them.

Still I thought that it would benefit me to at least learn a few things. It may be unbecoming of a Lady, but if I could be of some help to myself in a dangerous situation; then that in turn could help the security teams that had been hired to protect New Cov and myself when I travel.

Outside of my charming wit, my only accessory is my fan. I wonder if there is some way to hide a dagger within it. Yet I cannot pretend to be an expert in such things.

Word of the attack on the transport that carried me had spread further than New Cov. Well wishers had come and gone; some leaving behind gifts. To my credit I have done my parents and the Board of Directors proud. And with my ankle fully healed, I am now ready for the next step.

The first of which is to welcome a nobleman guest. I wait dor him in my library, wearing the dress that my Mother says brings out the color of my eyes. I cannot see the colors at all, yet I trust her to know what is best. Always.

For a man who was so nervous around women, he did not interact with them if he could help it, being paid to spend time with one was a strange and real change in pace.

Malum had not expected to stay at New Cov that long, it was a beautiful planet mind you, and very interesting to boot, a jungle planet with such dangerous flora and fauna that the denizens had to create domed cities to survive. In such regard, it was less a planet, and more a series of connected cities.

He had no real need to stay here, he had only arrived to refuel the Lochris as he continued on his travels.

That was until he had seen the ad, a request by some businessman for a tutor to teach their daughter some self-defense. It paid ludicrously well, and though it was not as if Malum needed credits by any means, some more spending money could do a lot of good for him. And for once, this was one of those ads that he could actually confidently fulfill, he was a Sith, and an assassin to boot, teaching some self-defense could not be too hard, could it?

Thus it was, as Malum approached the door of the house of said businessman, that confidence whirled with nerves regardless, he rapped his knuckles thrice on the wooden door, greeted the doorman politely, and was directed to the library some distance away. His black boots stepped across the laminated floor.

And he felt his breath leave him, his mouth dry.

There she was, Liin Terallo, as the ad had advertised. He had not been expecting her to wear such a dress, no doubt he had seen more provocative, more revealing, than just some dress barring shoulders for display, but he had not been expecting his student to be wearing such a thing now, nor even for his student to be so... pretty.

This may be more difficult than he had thought initially.

"Greetings, Lady Terallo, I am Malum of House Marrtaniel, at your service," Malum said, his red eyes, concealed with blue contacts staring ahead, as he gave a small nod of his head in respect, as always in his travels, he kept himself hidden, incognito, the Sith were still not liked much in these worlds.

That would change someday.

His arrival comes unannounced. Partly. I overheard the knock on the door, for the library was just to the right of the foyer. So I knew right away that my instructor had found the apartment. My Father had assured me that one had answered his call. There are few that can resist a dip into my Father's coffers. And most especially when it comes to being in his good graces. So it does not surprise me in the slightest that the answer to his call came quickly.

I had expected some middle-aged man; yet instead I am met with a man appearing nearer to my own age. And he appears equally as surprised as he sets his eyes upon me. I smile and lower my chin in greeting before striding over to him with my right hand lifting for him to grasp. "It is a pleasure, Instructor Malum. And welcome to Ilic. Can I get you anything before we start?" Always the gracious host. My Mother has trained me well.

Malum quickly yet with grace took the profered hand, noting immediately how soft it was, with neither wear nor callouses, it was what he expected if he was being honest, still that would mean he would need to be starting with the most basic of basics.

No trouble.

He brought the hands to his lips, and kissed them softly. Slightly being surprised that she was following such etiquette, very few in his travels had. Though of course he reminded himself that Terallo family considered themselves nobility, of course they would teach their daughter such things. Of course Malum was not sure if they were true nobles, New Cov was far from the noble circles of Jutrand and the Sith Empire, still, it was possible she was from a family of upjumped merchants.

It was possible, her family were high ranking members of the New Cov Biomolecule Company after all.

It reaked of Burghers attempting to rise above their station.

Still, it was no matter, he would do his task as instructed.

He let go of her hand, and withdrew back a respectful distance.

"Some water would be appreciated, I would prefer wine, but such lessons as I will teach you are better with a clear mind, no?" Malum offered a small confident smirk, a jape, to ease the scene. On one hand he was glad she was acting like a noble lady, for one who truly nervous for interacting with others, at least this way, he could move with practiced movements and words.

He had been trained for this after all.

"I think with our first lesson, we should establish what you wish to learn, I know the basics from the request from your father, but I desire to know what you wish to learn, and indeed, what you already know." The shadowy invisible tendrils of Consume Essence had already attached themselves onto her, he first noted that she did not seem to be a force sensitive, disappointing, and would make some more advanced skills more difficult, but what was more pertinent at the moment.

She seemed to be as intrepid as him, it would be best to put her at ease then.

Liin "Tera" Terallo Liin "Tera" Terallo

I am not surprised at his impeccable manners. Indeed the instructor holds the essence about him of a true nobleman. I give a small smile as my hand is kissed and dip my head in acknowledgement of the gesture.

In seconds he responds to my inquiry, which leads to a small laugh at his jest. "We shall save the wine for later, then. So water it shall be." I direct the instructor over to a side table which carries a variety of drinks and small canapés. I pour some water from a crystal pitcher into a tall crystalized glass. Everything here is elegant and beautiful; just the way I like it.

He asks me what I know and once again I give a small laugh as I pour myself a glass of water. I wait for him to sip first as it is customary to wait for the guest to indulge before myself. "I know very little, I am afraid. Self defence is not usually left to me. I have staff for that. However there will be another time where I will not have staff to help me. And so, I should like to learn to at least something to give myself a chance in getting away to safety." I draw my free hand up into a loose fist. "Weather it is with a small weapon that I can hide within my fan or my dress, or with my hands and feet. A Lady should not use violence. However I understand that there may be times upon which I will have no choice but to use it." I hope that I have answered his questions well enough to receive his help.

Malum nodded at her words, as he sipped on the water, taking a canapé and chewing on it softly, as he was chewing thoughtfully at her words. She was an anomaly to him, a paradox in some sense, he had met many a noble lady in his life, those from many planets, some close to him, he had sisters after all, and some far away, some opportunity for a marriage to strengthen House Marr, to continue its line. Yet most of them, almost all of them really were one of two things, dainty little ladies who were naive to the world and content in their comfortable and luxurious lives, willing or perhaps unable to protest being wed to whoever their family chose. Then there was the other, the lively and independent women, refusing to accept the position their families attempted to impose on them, rebelling against any and all constraints.

Malum would easily admit the latter intrigued him far more than the latter.

Still, as was becoming more and more obvious as Lady Terrallo spoke, she seemed to be in the middle of the binary spectrum he had made in his life. It was not as if that was too strange, Sophia had always been like that to a degree, still, it was interesting enough. This woman was both content in her standing and position but too seemed far from completely naive, knowing that the world was a dangerous place, and others would not always be able to protect her.

It was odd that her father seemed to recognise that too, old lords were a prideful bunch.

Though he was not exactly old, nor a lord, was he?

He could not be thinking like they were as such, it would certainly come back to bite him.

"Well, it seems you have the right of it, that is very good," Malum said simply, taking another sip of water, considering the rest of his words, "The galaxy is a dangerous place, especially for beautiful young ladies," Malum offered a smile, even a small wink in jest, "As for the weapon in question... I shall admit that while I primarily use li-, longswords in my practice, even blasters, I can teach you the use of a dagger, and indeed it is a good weapon to have, not hard to learn, though I will say, it is generally blasters that most would use to defend themselves," Malum left the unasked question in the air, why indeed, a dagger over a blaster, daggers were useful to him, an assassin as he was, and they were useful true if you could get in close with a person, but a blaster, especially for a civilian was perhaps the better choice, far more versatile certainly, "Regarding where to hide a dagger, I must admit I have never seen someone hide a dagger in their fan, though I have heard of it," Yes, in fiction novels, "But yes a dagger could rather easily be hidden in a dress, or a holder in your leg and arm." Was that her reasoning then, the ability to hide it? Well, it was not as if blasters could not be easily hidden either.

He blinked, why exactly was he trying to convince her against using a dagger? It was not as if he was greatly proficient with a blaster enough to teach her.

Curse him and his curiosity.

Liin "Tera" Terallo Liin "Tera" Terallo

I smile as he compliments my looks. Even if it was not truthful, it was still sweet to hear. I have heard it a lot lately from outsiders, but recognized it as more of sweet-talking than anything else. That is a common thing to encounter in this position. So I just take it in stride.

I give my full attention as he continues on, letting me know of two different weapons of choice that could be useful for me. It seems as though my fists are out of the question. I look down at my hands briefly, studying them and my knuckles. Perhaps my hands are far too dainty to defend myself with. That could be a good reason that weapons are far better for me to use.

"There is sure to be a way to hide a dagger within the stems of my fans. Even through scans, it may be undetectable. A blaster may not succeed. I have also never fired one before. My aim could be so horrible that I could end up hitting someone else or no one at all. And more often than not, a potential kidnapper would be within reach of me." I speak from experience. I was grabbed and carried off so harshly and quickly, that if I had a dagger on me, I might have gotten away. But hindsight is twenty-twenty or so they say. And I just do not know if I am even capable of learning to defend myself.

I am sure that my instructor will tell me if that is the case.

To be undetected then, hmm? He could not resist the chuckle that erupted out of his lungs, even if he was chiding himself in the depths of his mind, only moments later. Ah, that would be awkward, normal people did not exactly randomly erupt into laughter, especially when nothing particularly humourous had been said, "My apologies, it was nothing you said, I simply remembered a previous student of mine." A lie... he thought, well no, he was certain, he had no student, after all, he was still one, but something in his mind voiced disagreement, though he was not sure why.

Regardless, to be fair to him, it was hard to not laugh when the irony was so plain that it bordered on design rather than coincidence. For her to unknowingly ask an assassin to train her with a dagger of all things because a dagger was a weapon that could not be detected. Because where he would use a dagger for offence, she would use it for defence.

He feigned a hum of consideration, then one of understanding, glad that she had given an argument against the use of a blaster better than he could have.

"Perfectly understandable, so tell me, do you have a dagger of your own, or do you need to borrow one of mine?" He reached into his robes and pulled out two small daggers, both equal in size, without any features that would merit any real consideration. They were... not foreign to him, after all, he had been trained in the arts of smoke and mirrors for years now, but the fact was when one had access to the Force and lightsabers, simple daggers became rather... childish.

It was an odd word to use when describing dangerous weapons, but it felt apt.

(OOC: I am so sorry for the wait).

I raise my brows in question after he laughs, yet accompany that with a small smile. I am quite curious as to what my instructor really was thinking, but it is not my place to ask. For surely anyone adept at fighting would find this task of tutoring me to be as about as welcomed as an unwanted homework assignment. Regardless, I will not disappoint my Father in this matter.

After taking another sip of water from my glass and set it down, being mindful to retain my focus solely on the lesson. Tutors and instructors alike are always pleased with that.

My eyes drift to the two daggers that he holds. They are small and plain in decoration. Upon answering his question, I revert my gaze back to his own. "I do not yet have my own dagger. At this moment I am unsure of what style or size would be beneficial or suited for me. Perhaps if I prove to be a good student, we may shop for one somewhere? I am certain that someone like yourself would have a shop in mind?"

I do not reach out to hold one of the daggers just yet. I am a little hestitant in how well I could handle it, but also it is disrespectful to to take without an expressed permission to do so. And there was something about him that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Yet I had a feeling that as polite as my instructor is being right now, there was sure to be another side of him that would give me chills. Perhaps it was his attire or the way that he moved. I am not quite certain of it yet and more than likely I will never know. But I had to admit that it was a fun little mystery to play out in my mind.

Malum raised an eyebrow in as much teasing as a challenge, "Someone like me? My lady will have to be more specific, does she imagine me some rogue or rake?" His voice took on a lower tone, a dangerous edge, as the daggers fell back into his robes, and seemingly in an instant, he had closed the distance between them, a towering height of diamond blue eyes staring down upon wolf greys.

His breath fluttered across her face, "For I hear beautiful young ladies are rather susceptible to such charms," A beat passed between them.

Before Malum smirked, and pulled away, offering a nod of his head, as if nothing had happened at all.

And with a blink, his instructive self was fully back.

He could admit, that her smile was rather cute.

He reached back into his robes, pulling out one of the unadorned weapons, and holding it by its blade, offering the hilt to Liin "Tera" Terallo Liin "Tera" Terallo , "I find any will do, but yes, for one most suited for you, we will only find through practice, and than a special order... I imagine your father will not oppose such costs?" He fished for information as he instructed.

Who said they could not multitask?

Had I spoken out of turn? My breath catches as my tutor closes the distance between us so quickly. It felt as though it was in a blink. Yet I know that it mustn't of been.

His breath is warmth on my face, yet despite the closeness I hold my ground as well as his gaze. Intimidation is something that I have been trained to encounter. For it is not uncommon for older businessmen to use intimidation to try to force their way in a business deal. That isn't to say that my tutor is one of them; oh no. He is younger and more than likely not a businessman at all. But there certainly is a charm to him, I'll grant him that. "I am quite certain that my Father wouldn't of hired a tailor to tutor me, so much as he would someone with experience in the matters that he wishes for me to become trained."

Thankfully he steps back before I need to ask him to. I am not used to anyone being so close. Not unless it was at a dance. And this certainly was no dance. There was very little pageantry in it at all.

The dagger is offered to me, and so I take it in hand. The dagger feels strange once I curl my fingers around the hilt, but that is a feeling that will soon cease to be. For I must get used to this if I am to protect myself both at home and abroad. I cannot always count on my bodyguards.

I give him a small nod in response. "Your assumption is correct. My Father will not object to the added costs associated with a special order." I can only imagine that he is already being paid well for these lessons. The costs of a dagger will surely be not included in that fee. That will be a bonus.

With the dagger in my hand, I take a little moment to examine it. There is little doubt in my mind that it is sharp. "What is the first step that I am to learn?"

His smirk perhaps widened, allowing himself an opportunity to enjoy, and bask in her reaction, despite being only an apprentice, despite his relative youth, he could not help but so enjoy the reactions he was usually able to draw out of those of the opposite sex.

Now of course usually it took him quite an effort, coiling and suppressing his nerves to even make the attempt, for after all, no matter how confident he might have been of his appearance, of his swagger.

The fact was that being rejected, and being rejected loudly...

...Was not something which he wished to experience again.

Yet, still, in the moment, when his heart ruled before his mind, such fears melted away, the feeling in the air, the electricity, the spark, drove him forth into a boldness that might have been uncharacteristic for even him.

Yet still, even as he enjoyed her reaction, he could not help but wish it was ever more pronounced.

Alas, he could not win them all, as he quirked his eyebrow at her words, a soft chuckle escaping his lips, "You are right, your father certainly did his research, though... I am surprised, you do not fear one skilled in the use of a dagger?" He questioned, a note of levity in his voice, it was curious enough.

Most people viewed daggers as cowardly things.

And those who wielded them as extremely deadly.

Malum offered a nod as she took the hilt, it was an uncomfortable grip initially, but it straightened out to a more natural position before long.

"...Excellent, I shall need to do some research than if New Cov has any reputable and able smiths." It was an admission that he was not from here, though, that was already evident he imagined.

He tutted in consideration, as he extended his hands out, exposing his form to her,
"Try to strike me, as fast, as strong as you can, I can teach you all the theory in the world, but easier to fix mistakes and proceed onward." Diamonds glimmered with challenge, as he placed himself into an open area, no doubt it was an unorthodox method for a civilian.

But for a Sith? Far too orthodox.

Liin "Tera" Terallo Liin "Tera" Terallo

Is he suggesting that I am to be afraid of him? I do not doubt that he is trained in a multitude of weapons, both known and unknown to me. Yet all the same, I am trained in things that he surely is not. I cannot allow myself to be intimidated enough to be afraid, otherwise I might not do so well in my training.

Giving a small respectful smile, I respond with "I do not feel that now is the appropriate time for me to discuss what it is that I fear. Such an intimate conversation is better left on a different occasion." If at all. Why reveal my fears to a stranger? Or to anyone for that matter? There is always the chance that my fears could be used against me. Now is the time for me to try to be able to prevent my fears from coming to pass. Not to give the man the chance to act upon those fears.

"New Cov has quite a few weaponry shops, with biomolecule infused metals. But I will not stop you from conducting your own research, for your expertise far outshadows my own opinions."

And now to begin. He invites me to strike and to strike hard. Such an idea is really far removed from my comfort zone. Yet it must be done. I am unsure of what would be the best method. There are a few ways to strike him that could work. In my dreams, at least. Go big or go home, as they say. Right?

I tighten my grip on the blade, holding it at hip level before bringing it up in a quick motion, moving diagonally across from my lower left to upper right. In my mind such a motion could be a little harder to stop than if I just took a stab at him.

His smirk remained on his face, the answer was a fair one, alas, it was always his way to push and prod on such points until the avenue proved to be utterly unhelpful, "I would argue it is very important my lady, after all, how can I teach you to defend yourself, unless I know what it is that you fear?" Such was true in a metaphorical, rather than literal sense, however, he could not help but appreciate the poetry in those words.

He could not help but think she was stalling for time, but he would not call her out on it, if she needed time to adjust to the grip, he could not fault it.

It would save her some embarrassment most likely.

"No, no, please I am not a local of this world, if you have any advice for locales of interest, then I would be more than willing to listen, perhaps you might show me personally? I would not be opposed to serving as your bodyguard along as your tutor," Would at least give him something to do while he was on New Cov.

His eyes glimmered as her lunge finally came, it was slightly surprising, a slash rather than a stab, but as time seemed to slow, as blood began pumping through his veins, as Malum fell back, before his hands struck out as cobras, and latched onto her slashing arm, red eyes through the window of blue gazing down upon grey, smirk still simmering on his face, "Intriguing play, however, you must remember a dagger's weakness is its lack of reach, extending yourself is inviting harm, keep the dagger and your hand close to your core, and though difficult to do in these circumstances, the element of the surprise is key, strike down your foe in the first move."

He loosened his grip and gently pushed her form away from him, "Again."

Still he pressed the issue, yet during a lesson like this, I hardly find it appropriate to speak of what strikes fear in me. "Perhaps during a break would be better suited." I cannot call such a heavy topic 'light banter' that one might expect to do during a scuffle.

The offer for shopping with me is granted. I do have a fondness for shopping and such an endeavor will be a treat for me. Afterall retail therapy is a true thing that I thoroughly enjoy! One might expect that it is something that I do often, but they would be wrong! Time is precious to me and my schedule is quite often fully booked. I do not send others to shop for me. I prefer the thrill of doing so myself. I accept the other with a polite nod and smile.

I make my strike and he catches my arm. His eyes brighten, changing somewhat in their appearance. Were they glowing? Or was that just a trick of the light? If only I could see color. Then perhaps I'd see more of what remains hidden from me. I do not pull my arm away from his grip as he holds on, believing that he would let go. And sure enough he does! But he also pushes me back, however gently.

"Close. Right. I shall try to remember." I take his words to heart. Daggers have a bad reach, he says. Keep it close. I draw the dagger close to my hip again. And even as he had sent me back, I take a couple of quick steps forward and perform a quick lunge towards his stomach. I find it difficult to dedicate myself to stabbing him, for it's not as though I really want to hurt him. I would feel horrible if I cut him. Yet I try it anyways.

Tag: Darth Malum of House Marr Darth Malum of House Marr

"Perhaps," Malum offered with the smirk still upon his features, perhaps not a promise per se, but he would take it as one, for all it was worth. After all, he had been able to secure from her... well he supposed it could be seen as a date, even if that had not been his intention.

His boredom would be solved for many a days.

And he could fulfil his curiosity on several topics.

Even as she became to him, a question to be solved.

"Do not take it personally, I have after all thrown you directly on the hot coals, any mistakes made are hardly your fault," He encouraged as he readied himself for her next strike, a lunge for his stomach.

Far better.

Alas, she was rather slow, not even in the fact that she was untrained, but of course, that was a major crux of the matter, but indeed... for she was hesitating.

He would find it adorable...

...Okay he did find it adorable, but it would certainly put a damper on things.

He leapt back, the smirk still present upon his face, yet taking a gentler tinge, trying to be reassuring, as he considered how exactly to make her strike him full force, "Exactly like that, yet remember with a dagger speed is as much your friend as force, sometimes even more so, and remember depending on circumstance it shall be far preferable to wield it two handed rather than one handed, or vice versa."

Liin "Tera" Terallo Liin "Tera" Terallo

Any mistakes made would not be my fault? I find that to be very wonderful news indeed. For I had imagned that a tutor in this field of expertise would only ridicule me for my lack of knowledge in combat. I am rather grateful that my Father has chosen someone both patient and understanding to teach me. His manners too, suggest a noble birthright. As does his attire. That too could be a reason for his behavior towards me, for he seems to recognize my own noble blood and upbringing.

I listen to his next set of instructions, revealing that sometimes a two-handed grip is better than one. I try to imagine a circumstance upon which that would be true, yet I find it difficult. Unless of course I was trying to stab through armor or some really, really tough skin. Oh yes, that could be what he is getting at. So perhaps it isn't as difficult to imagine as I had first thought.

"I understand." No doubt he is expecting me to strike at him again. However, I feel that any other type of lunge or strike would just leave me open and vulnerable. And then it dawns on me. Fast and forceful. Fast, forceful and unexpected....

Whereas with the lunge that I had done earlier, I had only taken a couple of quick steps. This time, I move further than that! I take hurried steps, towards him, not even stopping as I near him. Instead I just keep going, hoping to back him up against the wall using the element of surprise so that I can once again lunge at him with the dagger towards his stomach, putting my weight and momentum behind it.

I am unfamiliar with being aggressive physically, but I must say that doing so gets my heart racing! However it is very, very unbecoming of a Lady. So I will be sure to not do it so often.

She was deep in thought clearly, such would be a disadvantage for the foe that could read your movements from your thoughts, though he supposed such a figure was rarer than not, but in the situation of combat, when the blood flowed freely through your body, and quite often outside of it, it was a surprise how much the body could predict such things from seemingly mere instinct.

Still, though he was not one so skilled to tell so easily.

She made it rather easy.

If she was pondering his instructions, more than likely she was to try to employ them, her words were only confirmation of that fact.

It would simply be a question of if she would employ them well.

A ghost of a smile appeared on his face, as she advanced, much swifter than before, she held little restraint behind her brow, indeed it seemed her charge would have...

Actually, strike him if he was not careful.

He pulled away, swirling on his feet as a dancer, to the side, out of the way of the advance at the very last moment, even as instinct had demanded him back away to the wall behind him, perhaps she would run into it now.

Little matter, it would teach her his next lesson.

Leaping away, he considers her, "...Excellent, yet you must also be flexible, your opponent can do any number of things to avoid what would be a fate most painful."

Liin "Tera" Terallo Liin "Tera" Terallo

Oh no!

My tutor lept away from me. I cannot stop my momentum, and so I turn and hit the wall with my shoulder. I gasp at the shock of it all, and my first instinct was to throw the dagger at him, but no. Doing so would be a mistake as I'd no longer have my weapon. So I keep a firm hold onto it.

"I feel like I am fumbling here. I don't really know of what movements to make. Might I offer a suggestion of a change of tactic? Right now you have me as the aggressor, something that I hardly doubt will happen in a real situation. So why don't we turn the tables, so to speak? Show me how to defend myself and to break away from a potential kidnapping." Afterall it was an teempted kidnapping that prompted my Father to hire him in the first place. "Unless of course this will lead to that. I apologize if I am speaking out of turn, or if you think that I am telling you how to do your job. It is merely a suggestion."

I will go with whatever option that my tutor decides. But I know that when it comes down to it, I will need to play out different scenarios so that I could know what to do if and when they happen. I am sure that at some point in the future I will tell him what had happened to me on that day. I just only hope that my speaking up doesn't make me a bad student.

Malum considered the idea a moment, even as his eyes glimmered in mirth at the sight of her slamming into the wall, even as his lips were quirked with the barest amount of concern, she might be a stranger, but so was she a young maiden, and perhaps more importantly to him personally, she was his charge.

It would do no good for him, or anyone else, let alone her for her to be harmed.

...Not harmed too much anyway.

At the very least she had done well enough to only slam her shoulder into the wall, rather than her face.

It would be unfortunate for her pretty face to be marred with a broken nose.

"One thing you must know is that the best defence is offence, unfortunate as it may seem, victory is not drawn from being on the defensive, that only delays your defeat, however, you are right, you will need to learn how to counterattack once being put on the defensive..." He reached into his robes, pulling out a dagger, yet different from the one he had given her, made entirely out of wood, even with the shape of a blade, it would hardly cut, even if being struck would hurt.

"...Yet you are also right, victory can simply come from survival, and do not be afraid to speak freely here, we seem to be of similar enough age, you are my student certainly, but you need not be concerned that I view myself as so superior," He offered a smirk, filled with the confidence, perhaps arrogance, that he was known for, yet alongside, was the geniality of a kindly man.

If only she knew what he truly was.

"...Now, let us see how your instincts fare," As a wraith he rushed forth, the dagger aimed for her face, as the full force of speed and power carried it forth through lean muscled arms.

Only for the strike to cease, bare inches from her face.

As his legs had moved further, pushing forward to knock her off balance, as his arms readied to catch her.

Another lesson.

The dagger was perhaps the most dangerous weapon, but not the only one.
