DESCRIPTION

The Hunter-Killer drone has been developed to aid the Confederacy against the powerful armor squadrons and mechanised infantry used by the Omega Protectorate. This drone is both a scouting vehicle and hunter-killer.

The vessel is not particularly intelligent, to keep the costs down. It will follow a pre-designated flight pattern, but deviate if it detects potentially enemy movements. The drone will constantly feed information back to command via satellite or air-to-ground comms links. This is part of an evolving CIS strategy to take the initiative in the recon-command-respond cycle. If the CIS can gain an edge in response times and communication infrastructure, they can go toe-to-toe with the more experience and well-equipped mercenaries of the Protectorate.

If the drone spots an enemy formation, or is already on an attack mission it will prepare to engage. Generally these keep their distance and engage with their ordnance, using their advanced sensor package to pick out priority targets and destroy them with surface-to-air guided missiles. Each 50kg missile is more than capable of annihilating all but the most well-armoured ground vehicles, and can wipe out a whole squad of troops.

If necessary the drone can fly remarkably close to the ground, reacting with much greater speeds than a human pilot to weave through obstacles. It can then strafe enemy formations at much closer ranges with its laser cannons.

The drone is susceptible to surface-to-air missiles, but is high manoeuvrable. It generally attempts to engage the enemy before it is seen, or when scouting keep its distance. It can be picked off by concussion missiles from other fighters. It can be loaded with air-to-air missiles for airspace superiority, but this is not its primary role.

OOC/ I used the tech template, but pulled in some information from the starship one for comparison.
