A Parliamentary session cannot be held without the Speaker's attendance, and they dictate the agenda for any session called to order with a proper quorum of members.
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
Listed in Alphabetical Order.
ARCHON OF PRODUCTION
Example Focal Areas: Architectural Planning, Design, and Oversight
The Archon is given responsibility concerning the architecture of State government buildings, city planning, ship aesthetics, art and performance arts. While at first this may not seem an overtly powerful position, their efforts are perhaps some of the most visible and lasting of any council member.
CHIEF JUSTICE
Example Focal Areas: Courts, Law Enforcement, Inquisitors of Corruption
As Chief Justice, this council member is charged with ensuring the equitable, timely, and appropriate application of justice is carried out throughout Confederate space. No one is above the Law in the Confederacy; corruption no matter how high or how pervasive shall be cut out by the Chief's many, steady hands.
COMMISSIONER OF STATE SECURITY
Example Focal Areas: Executive & Planetary Security, Counter Slicing Security
The Commissioner is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of government officials both on and off world, and resolving planetary security concerns or deficiencies. Anti-terrorism and anti-slicing task forces are also at the Commissioner's disposal to protect the citizens of the Confederacy. In the event ground personnel are under attack, the Commissioner is granted emergency powers to lock down and respond to threats as needed.
GOVERNOR OF THE INTERIOR
Example Focal Areas: Domestic Concerns, Disaster Management, Standard of Living
As Governor, the responsibilities may not be flashy, but their actions (or inaction) directly affects nearly every single citizen or official within the Confederacy. Each planet is allowed self-governance (the 'Independent' in Independent Systems), but the Confederacy only has so many resources at any given time it can dole out to meet their needs; especially in the event of natural disasters, attack, and other unforeseen circumstances. The Governor is afford wide latitude in how best to utilize those resources to ensure the brightest future for the Confederacy.
IMPERATOR OF THE TREASURY
Example Focal Areas: Budgeting, Accounting, Currency
The Imperator is responsible for overseeing all financial matters within the Confederacy. If Parliament needs projections or reports related to the Confederacy's budget or accounting, the Imperator and their aides provide. If there are issues regarding forgery, counterfeiting, scams, and other financial crimes, they possess uniquely skilled and talented forensics accountants able to unravel even a financial Gordian Knot to uncover the perpetrators and haul them before the courts.
MAGISTER OF DIPLOMATIC AFFAIRS
Example Focal Areas: Foreign Relations, Public Relations & Messaging
The Magister can broker, sustain, and terminate relations with foreign corporations or governments alike. While the Head of State may be involved in a number of negotiations, the small details that can make or break a deal -- and ensuring all parties meet their responsibilities -- is the purview of the Magister and the Diplomatic Corps. Furthermore, they're responsibility for Public Relation messaging between the government and its citizens; if there's an emergency they decide what gets broadcast out to the public to keep them informed, but not panic.
MASTER OF INNOVATION
Example Focal Areas: Science & Tech, Research & Development, Energy, Hyperspace Mapping
The Master monitors, encourages, and rewards scientific and technological advancements. They are especially responsible for promoting the continued development of the Confederacy. They may even engage in the acquisition of designs, products, and resources from outside of the Confederacy. Furthermore, there is no overlooking the strategic benefits of enhancing, developing, or discovering new energy sources as well.
PRAETOR OF SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
Example Focal Areas: Intelligence Agencies, Clandestine Operations, Nation-State Slicers
As Praetor this council member is responsible for gathering information about threats against the Confederacy, movements by potential rivals, and if necessary taking swift and decisive action to ensure the Confederacy's interests. A number of highly skilled operatives are at the Praetor's disposal, including some of the best Slicers in the galaxy to defend against, but more importantly strike at the Confederacy's enemies.
Officially, their responsibilities are directed toward external parties, while internal matters are left to the Commissioner.
SUPREME COMMANDER
Example Focal Areas: War, Defense, and Veteran Affairs
This council member is often referred to by their Military Rank or Position. They are responsible for all things related to the Confederacy's armed forces. Acquisition of new equipment, gear, and ships as well as their deployment within Confederate space is at their discretion. In the event of war, only the Head of State can override the Supreme Commander's orders.
Their responsibilities are chiefly off-world while the Commissioner of State Security often handles ground-based security matters; this can alleviate the burden of managing two entirely different theaters if an assault on a Confederate world is in progress. Nonetheless, any military forces on a planet's surface remain under the Supreme Commander's authority.
VICEROY OF COMMERCE
Example Focal Areas: Corporate Relations, Trade Negotiations, Contractual Disputes, Stock Markets
As Viceroy, this council member is responsible for maintaining good relations between the Confederacy and Corporations (especially mega-corps); pursuing, engaging in, or supporting trade negotiation efforts; resolving contractual disputes between Confederate parties or involving external entities; and monitoring Confederate interests in galactic markets.
PARLIAMENT
PARLIAMENTARY MEMBER
Parliamentary Members are Planet Representatives -- Governors, Ambassadors, Envoys -- representing the various worlds that make up the Confederacy. Each planet is granted a single vote in all parliamentary matters or proposed legislation.
PARLIAMENTARY CORPORATE COUNCIL MEMBERS
Corporate Council Members are Representatives of Mega Corporations -- Chief Executive Officers or Delegates -- that furnish the Confederacy with a significant amount of resources. As a result of their contributions they are collectively granted a single vote, which necessitates the various members agree on how best to utilize that vote in parliamentary matters.
PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATE
Corporate Ambassadors are Representatives of Corporations -- whether they're on the Corporate Council or not -- that observe and comment on parliamentary matters or legislation under consideration. They are not granted the right to vote.

RECRUITMENT (OOC/IC)
A single character cannot hold more than one of the Government organizational positions/classifications at a given time. Fortunately, many roles tend to have certain overlaps in other areas, but be careful attempting to expand your own powers; your fellow officials may not look kindly on such efforts.
PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATES
Players are welcome to create and roleplay Corporate Ambassadors at will. Representatives from Corporations may attend Confederate Parliamentary sessions, but have no Voting power. While they may address the chamber, if they want to ensure their will is imposed they should solicit the assistance of sympathetic Parliamentary Members.
PARLIAMENTARY CORPORATE COUNCIL MEMBERS
Players with characters running or representing a Major Corporate contributor to the Confederacy (major donations, massive financial portfolio, galactic-recognized entity, etc.) may join the Corporate Council within the Parliament. This Council is granted a single collective vote for all of its members -- getting this Vote in your favor will require the same persuasive skills employed on Parliamentary Members.
PARLIAMENTARY MEMBERS
Players that seek their character to become a Planetary Representative should submit their reservation or contest to the Representative thread. Once their character is affirmed as a Confederate Planet's representative, players are free to roleplay their character becoming the representative, or to immediately assume the mantle without further ado; furthermore, they are free to join any Parliamentary session thread and cast their vote on legislation put forward.
If more than one person desires to represent a particular world when it is available, players and staff may agree on how to decide the best applicant -- whether that's representing different worlds, holding an in-character selection process (similar to leadership as described below), or by other means.
Most importantly, legislation put forward and passed by Parliamentary Members matters both IC and OOC. While the Head of State has the ability to attempt to veto undesired legislation, the Confederacy Staff will put into practice lawfully passed legislation. In certain rare circumstances (e.g. initiating an invasion to seize resources) the execution may be delayed while certain logistics are handled, but the Staff will endeavor to see the will of the players enacted whenever possible.
Staff does reserve the right for review in a case-by-case circumstance, of course, if the above privilege appears to be abused to ensure opportunities exist for all players eager to participate in the process.
LEADERSHIP & EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
Players that desire to have their character assume the mantle of leadership within the Confederacy must apply and be accepted by those currently in office in-character (those that will need to work alongside your character). Ideally there would be an In-Character opportunity for one or more current officials to represent the OOC decision; however, in the event scheduling takes its toll, Staff may opt to accept or decline entirely by OOC to allow applicants to assume the role if accepted.
If more than one person desires a specific office when one is available, this application and selection process may be especially important. Be also forewarned, while the ideal is a meritocracy, one can never tell if other influencing factors may sway in-character decisions (Out of Character all players will be treated equally). So have your characters come ready to give it their all and prove why they're the better candidate!

EXPECTATIONS (OOC)
The most important thing for characters representing the Confederacy is that they be active. Real Life responsibilities may require your focus be elsewhere, and the Staff totally understands, but requests whenever possible that players inform the community (Leave of Absence) if they will be unavailable for extended durations. Should characters be inactive (not posting, no LOA active or given) for more than 30 days, the Staff reserves the right to transfer that character's position to another player. The Staff will endeavor to give players time to return in the event of unforeseen emergencies.
Parliamentary Associates and Corporate Council Members do not have any additional OOC Responsibilities (expectations) at this time, except to have fun roleplaying their characters.
PARLIAMENTARY MEMBERS
With power comes responsibility. Players that have authority to shape the Confederacy are expected to flesh out the world they have chosen to represent while respecting the spirit of the planet. An example of respecting a planet is not terraforming a barren desert world into a Tropical Paradise; but you can add cooling systems, evaporator/condenser farms, waterways, and other efforts to improve the quality of life of and entice new residents to settle on that world.
Lore subs are one way to meet this, but creating threads and inviting characters to make use of your world's resources, facilities, unique characteristics, and even some plot points certain fits the bill as well. The Confederacy hopes for its worlds to be more than a decorative name plate in Parliament, and your fellow Confederates IC might find more value working with your character once they know what your world has to offer.
LEADERSHIP & EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
With great power comes greater responsibility. Players given a spot as Leadership or Executive Council are expected to flesh out their role or position in the Confederacy, and to make use of its authority to guide, shape, and develop the Confederacy as a whole. Reach out to Planetary Representatives to help them resolve regional matters, create threads for players to join, and even put forward plot ideas that may reshape the galaxy!
*Thank you
