Using special runes engraved in the shackles the stored energy could be transferred to a second-marked crystal. These were then inserted into the flash of their marauders and warlocks to empower them in their apocalyptic crusade.

- Chain of life: The wearer of the shackles is constantly being drained energy by the synthetically created crystals that hang at the bottom of the chain. These spike-like gems transfer their energy to a designated polar opposite crystal forged alongside it. That second crystal when directly inserted into the body of a force-sensitive being will directly transfer all drained energy into the host.
- Slave & Master: These shackles turn unfortunate slaves into living force batteries to feed the wielding masters' power.
- Eternal hunger: The shackles will continue to draw out living force energy until there is nothing left eventually killing the wearer.
- One bite at a time: Only a reasonable amount of energy can be drained at once.
