ADVANCED SYSTEMS

  • Highly automated |Auto- Navicomputer: As is common with most ships produced by the Eriadu Manufacturing Shipyards, a large emphasis has been made on automating a lot of components within the ships, with in particular the navicomputer, which is capable of automatically calculating the best hyperspace routes to be taken towards a desired location. It also ensures that in case of emergency, the ship itself can engage the emergency protocols to avoid delays in command.

Strengths:
  • Strong defenses: As expected from a ship of the line, it is expected from this cruiser to be capable in offensive, but also in defensive placement.
  • Highly Automated: A cruiser needing only the amount of operative personel comparable to a regular frigate always has the advantage that less lives would be lost with possible destruction. It also allows for faster reactions to emergency situations and automated hyperspace calculations for ease of use.
  • Very Strong offensive capabilities: Thanks to a variety of weapons, a very effective placement of the turbolasers and a plethora of flak guns to provide aditional support, this ship is without a doubt able to pose a threat to even much larger ships.
Weaknesses:
  • Low speed: This ship is in all aspects a slow beast, due to the weight it carries and the lack of effort in granting it mobility.
  • Low maneuvrability: As it isn't a speedy vessel, it is also not as maneuvrable as most cruisers, which it supposedly does not need due to its high defensive capabilities.
  • Weak to EMP: though the ship's base functions might still be operative, without the highly automized navicomputer active, hyperspace travel is impossible and the defensive systems would be severely comprimized.
Description:

This ship, created by the brilliant minds behind the Tyrant Class Missile Cruiser, is supposed to be an effective and efficient 'ship of the line', build with both defense and offense in mind, the Compellor class Star Cruiser forgoes speed and maneuvrability in favor of its offensive and defensive capacities. Just like the other ships in the Eriadu manufacturing shipyard's first cruiser program, the Compellor class is highly automated and needs far less operative crew than any other ship of comparable size and strength.

[member="Credius Nargath"]thanks for taking the time to use the factory! Everything looks good from here, however as I read through this i was just thinking that if this ship is highly automated, could that not in fact be a weakness too? Can it be hacked or emp'd and completely negate a large portion of this ship's functionality?

It's just a thought. I can approve as is, or if you'd liked to add that, you can and I can approve afterward.

I think in a sense you could say that, but since the ship isn't FULLY automatic, it's still not as crippling as say on well...a fully automated ship. it's more of a provisional weakpoint, meaning it can be exploited, but doesn't represent a glaring flaw unlike the example made above.
