Communication is Overrated Anyway {Invite Only}

Blood poured from the man's chest, cascading down onto the floor, staining it a dark crimson. Or at least that's how Svarin imagined it. After waiting in a line for half an hour, with a very loud, annoying guy in front of you, one tends to get irritated. Having killed a few humanoids, the Echani girl knew quite well what a death blow looked like. And currently she wished to land one on the incompetent imbecile in front of her. But she remained calm for the most part. Instead of pulling her vibro-blade out and stabbing him, she merely imagined doing so. Which proved very entertaining, and she played the scene over and over, a smirk forming on her lips. Soon her partial patience was rewarded, and the troublesome man left with his order, slamming the store door on his way out.
Silently Svarin mentally prayed that a nonexistent God would cause his painful and miserable demise.
Then she stepped up to the counter, laid down a handful of credits, and gave a nod. By now the cashier had learned that Rin didn't talk, along with memorizing what she ordered. It wasn't the first time the girl's owner had made her get takeout. Such a wonderful use of a slave... There were funner things to do, but she was mainly glad Domino wasn't abusive like so many of her past masters. And Domo-san wasn't even her master-master. But the 19-year-old felt like she owed the older woman a debt, and had sworn her allegiance (if only temporarily) to her.
Which was what led to the current moment. It wasn't long before a bag was handed to Svarin, filled with her master's favorite takeout. Yeah... that was what the girl did these days. Get takeout, run errands, sit around, and attempt to teach Domo-san sign language. Let's just say the first few times didn't go so well. Rin... might have used hand motions to cuss out her master... Might have. Shhhhhh. Hush childe.
Another annoyance was outside the shop. Great. Fething great.
"Ima cut you, you little son of a shab nabble eating nerf herder!" Looked like some Twi'lek was being threatened by a Zabrak. Great. Yay. Such sarcasm. A punch was thrown, which the Twi'lek easily dodged before running off... in the direction Svarin had to go to get home. Mentally muttering curse words the girl kept walking, while watching the Zabrak run after his victim. Rolling her eyes she sped up, wanting to get to the next turn as soon as possible. And hey, if the two kept fighting, she could at least see who won. Not that the Twi'lek seemed willing to hit back... Stupid pacifists.
They had disappeared from her sight when she heard a blaster go off. Ya know, pew pew pew? Yeah, that sound. Suddenly semi-worried about the second man she started running towards the sound. A scream followed the shots, leading her straight to the two. Turns out the Zabrak was still shooting, starting at the man's feet and slowly going up. His blaster wasn't terribly powerful, just strong enough to hurt like hell, not kill. As another blast went off Rin saw something around the victim's neck... a slave collar. He was a slave, just like she had once been.
And this son of a blip was likely his owner.
Anger rushed through Svarin's system, her eyes narrowing and filling with the look of rage. Fingers curled into fists, and her bag of food was set down. Ignoring the potential danger she rushed forward, pulling out her blade. But before she could reach the two something snapped inside her. Her right hand raised, aimed at the Zabrak, and released a torrent of energy invisible to the eye. It was like a fist had hit the Zabrak, and he was thrown back, over the nearby ledge. A dull thud was heard as his body hit the ground below. Nearby the Twi'lek was twitching and bleeding out. Only a few seconds passed before he stopped moving. Dead, killed by a cruel man.
One glance over the edge proved that he had been avenged. Blood seeped from somewhere on the killer's head, pooling around him. No one was around to get his body, or to even care he was gone. So turning to leave Svarin smirked, glad to have rid the planet of another villain. But what she had done still freaked her out. Never before had she managed to release such energy. It was no doubt the force, at least some manifestation of it. Which meant one and only one thing: Rin had to speak to Domino-san. Without training she could turn into a dangerous being, unable to control the power that she held.
Grabbing hold of the bag she turned and left, breaking into a run. It was time to go home.

Staring at the holo screen of her desk comp, Domino waggled the end of stylus between her lips before going to tuck it behind her headband. Of course if she were human she could just tuck it behind her ear and then she'd also have hair to stule and play with. Seriously, only having lekku limited her people in hat area, probably why they were so fond of tattoos, temporary or not. Then again, judging from the was Raz's looked in the morning and how much she complained about her hair she might be better off on that deal. Maybe if she wore a hood to bed it'd be pressed flat in the morning... but they'd never really been that deep into it beyond short-term fun and the odd weekend, and as much as Domino hated to admit it, the spark between them was dead. Where there had been romance their relationship had devolved into two people satisfying nothing more than emotional and physical needs. Raz stuck around because she was a dog that saw her as the alpha (a trait she'd once fought hard to win away) and Domino wasn't willing to call it quits out of not wanting to kick that dog and because she was responsible for her. She'd literally resurrected her after her own return to this messed-up galaxy. She hadn't had anyone else to trust or turn to and had fallen back on the familiar. Now, well now the relationship was dead and neither side was willing to admit it...

With a long suffering sigh, the Twi'lek laid her head down on her desk and ignored the stylus when it clattered to the floor. What did get her attention was her growling stomach. She had ordered food hadn't she? Yeees, she hadn't forgotten, Svarin was supposed to be picking it up now. Actually she was late, and while the girl's silent lip was the norm (and slightly endearing when it wasn't annoying), so was her punctuality and thoroughness. Really she couldn't have stumbled upon a better maid-slave person. Poking a finger through the floating comm icon on her comp, Domino selected her personal contact list and shoved another through Sav's portrait to call her. Poor girl couldn't respond with words but she usually made do by tapping on the receiver for yeses and no's.

Why couldn't Domino-san be closer? There would still be another ten minutes of walking, seven or eight if Svarin ran. However running compromised the safety of the takeout. Even if the girl had just discovered the force, she still wanted to complete her 'mission', and do so well. Being so late already deducted imaginary points, if she was any later she might as well consider it an utter failure. Those words were not in the girl's vocabulary (figuratively, of course). So she rushed, doing her best to keep the bag of food level to prevent spills or anything tipping over. The echani was about to make another turn when the communicator located on her left wrist made a beeping sound.
Someone was calling.
Grunting out of annoyance Svarin set the food down and checked the device. Turns out Domo was calling. If it had been anyone else she would have ignored the call and kept moving. Sliding a finger over the screen she accepted the transmission. For a moment she remained silent, gaze locked on the comm. Then her mouth opened, and she prepared to speak. Only two things ever resulted in the girl talking: Emergencies and before she made a kill. As expected, the latter was rare. But the girl thought it was better to say something to a dying being then just staring at them with cold eyes. What was happening now could be considered an emergency, and yet she still hesitated.
It would be the first (and potentially the last) time Domino would hear her voice. Obviously it wasn't a decision to be made lightly. Need overruled desire, and the girl spoke quietly. Her voice was accented, soft, and didn't seem to fit her. The words were all forced, as if every syllable was a great effort. Almost two years had passed since Svarin had last spoke. Moving her jaws and tongue to produce sound felt weird, unnatural even. One could tell that by the way she paused after longer words, the way her voice was spread out and tired sounding.
"Domino-san, we may have an... issue. I'll be home soon."

Svarin looked upset about something, and then she opened her mouth and Domino stopped what she was about to say. If she, yep. Domino almost missed what the girl was saying. "I'll bring us to alert then. Hurry back." Hunger forgotten. Domino stretched and sat back down in her chair, gone was her fatigued and tiredness, there was apparently a threat that had her servant so worried it had driven her to talk. "Admiral," she greeted the head of the Nal Hutta system's defensive fleet when he answered her call. "Bring your fleet to Alert Status Two and notify ground units to mobilize for urban combat but, keep it casual. This is just a surprise drill for now." He was curious, but knew time was more important than questions. Giving his affirmative, he signed off and began mobilizing the Black Sun's armed forces. The Twi'lek didn't think the usually mute girl was calling wolf, it wasn't like her and she knew the consequenses would be severe, so if she was really on to something Domino would be prepared.

Alert really wasn't necessary. Even if Svarin unleashed her powers again without meaning to, Domino-san could handle it herself. But the girl had spoken enough for the day, and her master seemed busy, so she kept quiet. Perhaps that wasn't the best option. Consequences of her silence could be drastic. If Domo took her servant seriously enough, soldiers would be gathering, preparing for the worst. Of course Rin ignored that, and just focused on trying to get home as fast as possible.
God, was it really that far away? Every second felt like a minute to the girl. In her hand the bag of takeout (which she still treated with the topmost care) felt heavier then before. Oh, the 'woes' of semi-traumatic events and what followed them. Both irritated and worried she made her way through the streets, passing quite a few pedestrians. Some watched the girl, wondering what put her in such a rush. A couple recognized her, and sped along as well. If the servant of someone like Domino-san was in a hurry, they felt like they should be to.
Two minutes left before she'd arrive. Fantastic. Biting her lower lip gently Svarin reached into her coat pocket and retrieved a datapad. Better start typing now, get at least half of her message done before showing it to Domino. She chose her words carefully, not wanting to be to dramatic or skim over any important details. By the time she reached the entrance of the mansion she had over half a paragraph ready. Muttering 'here goes nothing' to herself she walked into the building and started looking for her master.
When the elusive Twi'lek was finally found, the datapad was placed into her hands, while the food was set down carefully. Hopefully nothing had spilled. Discovering force abilities was important, but doing her other duties was as well. God Svarin, get your priorities in order...
"My apologies if I seemed brash or sudden. I believe my message may have come off more desperate then I had intended. There was an accident in the city. Two causalities . A slave and who I presume was his master. I... I killed the latter. But I didn't mean to! He tortured the poor Twi'lek, and I was just going to punch him a couple times. Instead... I don't know what happened. One second I was running towards him, the next my hand was in the air, and then he flew back. He went over the railing, fell a couple stories, and hit his head on the concrete of a lower level. My apologies Domino-san. I don't know what overcame me. No doubt it was the force though, which could prove to be an issue..."
Rin stared at her master, expression soft and full of shame. Her emotions finally caught up with her, and what felt like tears started to form in her eyes. Usually it would aggravate herself to show such a feeling, but at the moment she was just tired. Tired, lonely, and confused. Raising her hand she clenched it into a fist and placed it over her heart, tensing up. Breathing hurt, and she started to stress out even more. Then she said another few words out loud before relaxing slightly.
"I'm sorry @[member="Domino"]."

Taking a long moment to read over Rin's pad, Domino finally looked up and studied the girl. "I see." Murder happened all the time in the moontroplis, two more bodies weren't that big of a deal. The girl had even made a few before today from Domino's understanding, she certainly hadn't been upset when Domino had killed her previous master. In fact she'd been down right prosaic about it. Which meant that the panting girl was really freaked out about being able to use the force, probably. Humans were weird sometimes.

As she thought it out, Domino's features softened again until she was just herself and not a leader or master force user. "I'm not upset with you Rin and I'd be willing to train you too if that's what you want. But I want you to understand something first. This," Domino rolled her hand and made a grasping motion in the air, effortlessly levitating one of the sitting chairs, "will not make you life any easier or simpler. It marks you, sets you apart as a threat, something to be feared, used, or manipulated. Some people will want nothing to do with you, others will force choices on you that will have far-flung consequences that you're not ready for but will have to make anyways. You'll face challenges greater than you could ever imagine, and a single failure could mean insanity or death." Grim, yes, but Domino wouldn't waste her time training the girl if she wasn't committed. It was also true, learning about the force had quite literally wrecked Domino's life several times over. It had saved it several times too though. "I know this is sudden, and I don't want you to decide right now. Take some time for yourself, get cleaned up, calm down, and think about it."

Not upset? Sometimes how different Domino-san was from previous masters shocked the echani. Past ones would have punished her severely, for both the deaths and mentioning of the force, and added quite a few scars to her growing collection. To hear the Twi'lek brush murder off so... so simply stunned her. Tears stopped forming, and for a moment she looked very confused. After a moment she relaxed again, took a deep breath, and listened closely to what the woman before her had to say.
Some of it sounded- or at least felt- familiar. There were already many who did not wish to be involved with Svarin. Being a slave made many consider you the lowest of the low, it put you below the social norm. Getting used was a daily occurrence, and manipulation was not usually necessary. All someone had to do was raise a device, and your hand would slowly go up to the shock collar around your neck. Obedience was forced, not earned. Even so Rin became uncomfortable when she heard it.
Wasn't the force supposed to free one? Put them above the rest, make them able to live their life the way they wanted to?... Apparently not. As much as it helped one, it hurt them. Responsibilities forced upon them, people judging them without ever knowing who they are, peers wanting to challenge you, surpass you, etc. etc. Whether cons outweighed pros or vice versa was debatable, and unknown. Learning to control the force was a risk, one that would affect one for the rest of their life.
"I wish to learn. To control it to some extent at least. Hurting others is not something I take lightly. Death may be a popular occurrence, but that does not mean I have to enjoy all of it. If you will train me, then I will be even more in your debt, and serve you faithfully until that debt is repaid." Svarin typed in, returning the datapad to her master. Then she got down on one knee, bowing to her master and owner.

Closing her eyes, Domino nodded and reached out to her kneeling servant through the force, letting her approval be felt. She hadn't shied away from difficulty, the hard path. "Death is never a popular occurrence. Kill someone like that again and you will be punished. Discretion should always be on your mind from now on. My abilities are well known, but if people learned that I was training apprentices they would likely try to interfere." Her nose finally drew her attention to the takeout cooling on the edge of her desk and away from counseling her slave. "And humm..." Trailing off she pulled the bag to her and pulled out the little paper cartons of fried rice and other goodies. "Grab one for yourself Savrin, and knock it off with that kneeling stuff. You know I don't really go in for it."
