Coming Off the Pinacle

Her chance run in with an imperial had lead Sulen to try and learn more about the history and current setting of the galaxy. In her wondering time, she learned of an open history class that was going to be held on Taris. Figuring she had nothing to lose, but a little time, Sulen registered for the class.

What she learned was mostly ancient history, but it was still quite fascinating. At a break in the class since it was a class, an assignment was given to do over the lunch break. A partner was needed and together they needed to go out to lunch and learn something about the other person.

While it didn't deal with the class itself, but more along the lines society. Something that was taken away by the rakghoul plague that had happened here. The individuality of the person disappeared in the transformation into the beast.

Sulen turned to look at the person next to her in class and introduced herself. Not having acquired many clothes, she wore a uniform that people didn't know. She had taken off any symbols of rank or placement within that now dead military, but anybody could see she had some form of training. The way she held herself and acted were key tells in her.

"I'm Sulen Dewan."

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

Dusaro was fairly learned on modern history. It had been a rather important part of his job after all, knowing and being aware of current events. What he did not know much of was the past and as a kid that had not been much of his 'curriculum'.

As for why he ended up on Taris in the first place, well he had been looking for a source of Songsteel. He had not succeeded in finding anything, but when he heard about this event he figured 'what the hell' and came over. Considering he had mostly just bits and peices, it helped broaden his understanding of things, even if it was only mostly an overview so far.

The first thing he noticed about the person he would be working with was the uniform. He did not see any rank or insiginia on it, so he figured either it was just a odd looking suit, or something along those lines. As for himself, Dusaro had fairly casual looking clothes on. The only thing that was really out of place was the arm glove on his right arm that extended all the way past his elbow and half of the way to his upper arm. It was made out of a thick kind of leather, though it didn't seem to mess with his ability to use the arm much.

"I am Dusaro Dresari, good to meet ya." He said in a relaxed tone with a polite nod. He was used to being around trained people who were a bit 'uptight', considering his upbringing as a Merc man and his new 'job' as a Jedi. "Any place to eat strike your fancy, Dewan?"

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

"Dusaro, nice to meet you as well."

Sulen offered a hand to shake and shook her head when he asked if there was anything special she wanted for lunch.

"I'm not at all familiar with what is around. Out of the loop."

Standing up, she stretched and looked at the person she was going to have lunch with. While he appeared to have a friendly demeanor, he also held himself with the same confidence she did. She felt he would be a good person to fight next to if a situation came up, not that she would go out in search of it.

"What is there these days?"

Not yet saying what time she was from, he might be able to read into her words. If they were supposed to learn about each other, he would eventually either be told or figure it out for himself.

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

Dusaro took the offerd handshake, giving her a bit of a nod. She said she was out of the loop, but in this area he was not exactly in the loop himself. He hadn't really been on Taris before, but he figured he could manage something.

"Well, there is a Coruscanti place i saw, not that i knew Coruscant had any special dishes. Few Corellian places, several more exotic places as well. I had been planning on stopping by a place run by a Togrutan group. I tend to eat a lot of meat, can blame my species for that." He said with a bemused smirk.

Dusaro did get a bit of a feeling that she was not quite normal, but he didn't seem to care. Right now he was getting the feeling that she was maybe a bit of a 'wandering' type, kind of just out in the galaxy, moving about while not really sure of anything.

"How did ya end up here of all places, if you don't mind me asking?" Dusaro asked curiously, going ahead and heading out of the building, figuring they could settle on the lunch location while walking about.

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

Returning his nod as they shook hands, Sulen listened to his suggestions on food. He said he eats a lot of meat due to his species. He didn't look inhuman, so she wondered what he was. While in her time, she had only a very few interactions with non humans, she wasn't familiar with those races that were considered near human. He must be one of them.

He asked what brought her here and she debated on telling him the whole truth right away. Deciding to wait for the big reveal, she went with a simple answer. It was true as well so he couldn't say she was speaking a lie.

"There are certain areas of history that I lack knowledge of. I saw this free class offered and decided to take it."

They walked together out of the building, he was a couple of steps in front of her. Being several inches taller, she Sulen needed to walk faster to keep up with him.

"What about you?"

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"Fair enough, i am here for basically the same reason. I know plenty about current events, its the past that can give me troubles on occasion. My job involves staying on top of current things and i don't generally get much time to do reading. Figured this would be a good chance to get caught up." He didn't detect any paticular lie since it wasn't one and he wasn't the kind of person to try and overtly figure out people by their words. Dus tended to go by his gut instinct and so fair, she was fairly alright.

Dusaro said with a light shrug and a friendly demeanour as they walked down the street. It was a bit of a walk to where the place he saw was, around five minutes or so but along the way he spotted a relativly new looking place. "An Alderaan cuisine focused diner huh... The Luxuries of the jewel planet is it?" He said with an arched brow. "I hadn't thought about something like that. Any intrest in it?" Dusaro asked, looking over to Sulen who was following behind him, curious on her thoughts on such a place.

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

"I had a really good conversation not too long ago about current events, so I'm pretty up to date on them well. May I know what your job is?"

Right now, Sulen didn't have a job, but she was trained in hand to hand, some weapons and star fighter piloting. Having such a large area of combat knowledge she figured she would do a little more research and put her name out when she was ready to find a position somewhere.

The man was friendly and in way made Sulen feel comfortable. While she wanted to maintain a professional distance between them, she didn't feel like she needed to as cold as she normally would. Not being able to put her finger on it exactly, she could tell something was almost familiar about him. Maybe the way he acted or moved. Giving herself a mental shake when he stopped to point out a different place than what he had been thinking of lunch.

Turning to look at it, she likely grew a confused look on her face and she knew she shook her head. Looking back at Dusaro with that same look, "Alderaan was destroyed though."

Nobody had told her it had been rebuilt or anything, let alone any of the other planets that had been destroyed and rebuilt again over time.

"How?"

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"My job? That is a bit of a convluted one. I don't really technichally have a 'job' any more... Closer to a... Vocation i suppose? Anyways, i was a Merc-Man, doing jobs all over the galaxy. Then i met this one guy and somehow became a Jedi."

There was really no easy way for him to explain the how's and why's of that change, so he just straight up said it and let the person's imagination do the rest. That and seeing the reactions of people to that was always priceless.

"Yeah it was destroyed." Dusaro nodded, a bit suprised by her reaction. Granted it had confused him when he had heard about it as a kid as well. It was even in this day a fairly well known event. "Somehow, the... Vong i think it was managed to rebuild it. I am not really sure when or how. If i had to guess they probably like... Made a device that pulled in all the asteroids and then started terraforming the giant chunk of rock they had. Only way i can figure it out anyways. But anywho yeah, it got rebuilt basically." Dusaro said with a shrug.

"That does make me curious about what exactly is here though, hmm... Shall we go in and see?"

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

He answered that he really did not have a job, but was a Jedi. That being more of a vocation than a job, knowing all too well what being a Jedi meant, Sulen nodded. She ketp her face neutral when he admitted the Jedi though. That was a part of her life she chose not to admit to and didn't knowingly touch the Force, she knew it was there though.

When he explained how Alderaan had been rebuilt, she looked even more confused than she had been. Covering it with a slight cough, she kept silent until her thoughts were in order. It may have been a few moments or a few minutes, she wasn't aware of the time passing.

"What are Vong?"

Asking if they should check out and see what food this place offered, Sulen moved in the direction of the door in a slight daze still.

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

Dusaro was a bit let down by the lack of reaction. Generally saying 'yeah, i was merc but became a Jedi' got a fairly signifigant response out of people. So it was a suprising where he didn't get much of a reaction, not that he would call it dissapointing, just suprising.

Then she asked him what the Vong were. Honsetly speaking, well.. He knew kark all about them really, so he just said that.

"I know they do not like tech and that they use biotech. Basically if it isn't alive they don't want anyhting to do with it or... Something. They basically scourged the galaxy fairly heavily, starting around... 25 ABY, roughly. Haven't done much since then that i really know of though." Dusaro said with a bit of a shrug.

The diner was fairly high class unsprisingly, with nice bright lighting and a cheery atmosphere in general. Paintings of mountains, lakes and valley's adorned the wall, all seemingly painted by the same artist of Alderaan's landscape. The food smelled good as well. It was fairly well balanced for a nomal human diet, which inevitably ended up with Dusaro ordering double portions of meat.

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

Apparently Sulen had just been locked away and forgotten when these Vong came. Whatever or whoever they were, they had been dangerous, but yet helped rebuild Alderaan. They couldn't be all that bad. Not knowing anything about them was a loss for her and she decided to do further research on them later.

"Maybe the accomplished what they set out to do. If they scourged the galaxy though, then they had to been pushed out or killed off. Much like Alderaan was before they rebuilt it."

Shaking her head again, the door opened to the restaurant. Inside were quite a few people and all the artwork was lighted up to be viewed. The smell was something Sulen hadn't ever experienced before and her stomach growled as they were seated.

Taking a look at the menu offered, she decided on the nerf steak special and handed the menu back to the server.

"What are the Jedi like these days?"

If he read into the question, then Dusaro might gather there was a deeper meaning than the simple words. Of course, an answer would be fine to her as well.

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"I... Do not actaully know what it was they came here to do. I just know they have really creepy 'living' ships and biotech and that they really like to modify living things. Or, something like that. If you wanna know more there should be plenty of sources. Personally they make my skin crawl, though that is also because i have heard horror stories from other Mercs who have encounterd them so, yeah."

The Vong were something he was happy to know less about. He knew of them, the weapons they used and such. Thinking about them was like thinking about body horror, something he didn't really want to think about and most certainly did not want to see with his own eyes.

Dusaro ended up getting a simple salad with several varieties of meat in large amounts. He didn't seem to mind what part of the animal it came from, tongue, trite, feet, gizzard. About the only thing he did not seem intrested in was liver, which he did not have -any- intention of ordering.

"The Jedi? Hmm... Well, i hear horro stories about the Galactic Alliace's Jedi. Granted that is from my Master, who had been a part of their order and was backstabbed by several members along with all other sorts of politics. He also mentioned them being rather aggressive and anti-darkside to the point of being extreme. That was a few years ago but i do not think they have paticularly changed. They might have, but i wouldn't know." Dusaro said with a bit of a shrug.

"As for the Silver Jedi, they are fairly relaxed in general. Still some politics but nothing that is going to like, make people get killed or screw you over. Though with how things have been happening and what seems to be on the horizon.." Dusaro's voice trailed off as he looked outside. "Well, looking like we will have a comlicated time of it soon. Two Sith raids not even two months apart, the Galactice Empire... Yeah. Issues abound." He said with a shrug, not even really knowing -why- those were issues, just that they were.

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

"From what you say, it sounds like they were creepy and nothing I would like to deal with. Is their tech still around? Well, obviously it is since Alderaan was rebuilt and you know people that have run into them. That was a stupid question."

This last part was more said under her breath, but likely loud enough for Dusaro to hear.

Their food being ordered, Sulen sat back in her seat and listened to what he said about the Jedi. She found it odd there were more than one type of Jedi.

"I had no idea there could be more than one type of Jedi, Dusaro. That's just weird."

Understanding that war and conflict would never truly end, there wasn't much she could contribute to the plight of the Silver Jedi. Her conversation with somebody from the Empire had been very enlightening and the one with Dusaro was also proving to be.

"So I take it you are one these Silver Jedi?"

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"Well, you see... You say it is stupid but, i have never actaully... Seen it. I don't know if it was them directly who did it or what. I just know their stuff was used somehow. Look it up more if ya wanna know, i am not the best source of info for 'em."

Dusaro laughed a bit at her remark on there being diffrent kinds of Jedi and that being weird. It wasn't at her in fact he completly agreed, nodding his head a bit with her remark.

"Yeah, i find it a bit odd as well. But there are also diffrent kinds of Sith as well. I suppose in the end there are multiple ways to follow what amounts to the same 'doctrine'. Still, i am just one part of the outlook. I am sure there are plenty of people who would slam the Silvers and praise the GA." He said with a light shrugh, only really able to remark on what he had been told about them.

"Yeah, i am. We are... Fairly similar to Luke's order i suppose. Less about being asthetic monks focused on the force, more focused on going out and using the force to help and do things. Sure there is still plenty of philosophy involved, but we go out and do just as much. Heck, they were okay with taking me on as a Padawan when i was twenty two years old, with a long history as a Merc. So yeah, they are fairly open. I just hope that doesn't end up back firing on them." He said, thinking on his own words for a moment before looking to her.

"So what do you do? You look like someone in the military or at least some one who had been in it very recently."

"Oh, I understand, just word of mouth about this Vong stuff. Whatever, I hope they are gone and don't come back."

Nodding at she said that, Sulen had a tone of finality and ended that part of the conversation. Her eyebrows came together hen he said there were also different kinds of sith.

"What do you mean there's different kinds of Sith? There are or were only two, a master and an apprentice. When the Emperor and Vader died that was end of the Sith..."

Clearing her throat, she realized maybe she had said too much about her past so soon. When he continued on about the Silver's and that they were most like Luke's order, her eyes widened. If he was adept at reading body language, he would see this reaction.

"I see."

At that moment, their food arrived and it took their attention for a few moments while it was served. It gave her the chance to think of an answer to his question. Letting out a sigh after taking a bite of food and chewing it, she figured out what she would say.

"At the moment, I am between jobs. I am trained military though and have gone through vigorous testing an some experimentation has been done on me to enhance my natural strengths."

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"Yeah, that was the case... Around... Eight hundred or so years ago. Since then... Phew. We have had a cavalcade. Have you been out way in the outer rim or in the Firefist galaxy? Ye seem to have missed a few things."

He was fairly sure she wasn't normal, given the gap in her knowledge and it did perk his curiousity at this point. He did notice her little telltale reaction of her body but was not overly worried about it. For all he knew maybe she had a bad run in with that kind of Jedi or something. It wasn't a paticularly hostile reaction so he didn't seem to mind.

As for when their meal came in, Dusaro wasted no time in working between his plate of meat and salad bowl, finishing off the bowl fairly quickly to focus on his meat. Given by the amount he was eating like it was completly normal, it was sure he was not just a normal human.

"Aaah, that kinda thing. Never had any enhancements like that myself. Well... Not by choice any ways." Dusaro said with a meaningful look at his right arm. "I kinda lost my right arm. Which is fine with me, it kept on dropping my blaster, figured i needed to get a new one anyways."

He said with a grin to lighten the mood, washing down some food with a mouthful of water.

"Mmm... Well, i have a few contacts if you wanted to look into getting the Merc buisness. That can be a good temporary option before moving on to something else. Bigger and better things, all that."

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

She had gone to sleep around 830 years ago and then forgotten. He asked where she had been and while Sulen knew her story would be known, wasn't sure how to say it. In saying she had missed a few things, she let out a small snort of a chuckle and listened as he continued.

Eating her food, she considered his offer about giving her connections. It would be something she would keep in mind once she got caught up fully and wasn't wondering around so lost and confused.

Evading answering his first question for the moment, Sulen nodded at the fact he stated about his arm.

"Well mine were done when I had just graduated from academy and was one of many sent for testing. I qualified for the experiment."

Taking a sip of her drink, she went back to thinking on how to answer that first question.

"Yes, it was actually closer to 850 years ago when there was that rule of two. With the death of Palp and Vader though, I thought the sith wiped out. Back then there was a Jedi Academy on Yavin set up by Luke. Is that still there? You want to know where I've been, yes? Truth is, I've been asleep, locked up in a casket for around 830 years. Give or take a few years. This is all new to me and well I've been wondering around trying to get caught up."

He could take her word on it or not, may even think her crazy for saying something like that. Whatever it was though, she had spoken the truth.

[member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"Oh, that kind of thing huh. Makes sense i suppose. Bodily modification was never something i have ever really needed personally, ignoring what happend to my arm."

Dusaro said with a short nod, getting the general jist of the idea. He had never really been intrested in bodily modification but he also did not really need it. His body was capable of doing amazing things all on it's own without help.

As for her explination of why she was so behind on current events... Well, he was suprised. He had figured she was just raised on some really backwater planet, maybe even in the Firefist galaxy so the knowledge she had of current day was very old. He had seen that before. But being stuck in stasis? It wasn't that he couldn't believe it, he had heard of plenty crazy things. But that was a karking long time to be asleep! Who and how did someone screw up to make that happen.

"Like... I believe you. But how... Why... What exactly happend to make you just get stuck like that? Did someine accidentally the hyperdrive? Pirate raid?"

Dusaro asked, before realizing she probably didn't know herself since she hadn't said anything as to the why. After a moment he let out a shrug.

"Eh, well i suppose that doesn't matter too much anyways. As for the Yavin temple... No one controls it at the moment and i do not recall it being destroyed or anything. So i think it should still be there."

[member="Sulen Dewan"]

"I'm not sure the testing stuff is still in my system or not. Haven't needed to fight or whatever."

Eating a bit more of her food as he digested her words. He was surprised and rightfully so. If somebody were to say something like that to her, she wouldn't know what to say really.

"Well, when I was woken up, the base was in ruins. So it's possible some sort of attack happened. Either it was evacuated or all the people died. Last thing I remember was getting closed up in like a casket and then being woken up not too long ago."

Shrugging her shoulders already having accepted what happened to her, she knew nothing could change her past. Sulen took a drink of her water and listened to his answer about the Yavin temple.

"Perhaps, I should pay it a visit and relive some old times. Where are your Jedi located?"
