The corporation is a shining exemplar in the sea of lobbying, corrupted concerns. It doesn’t exploit its workers for a measly minimum wage. It doesn’t walk all over bioconservation by greasing palms up high. It doesn’t disrupt local cultures and peoples, it doesn’t destroy ecosystems, and it doesn’t drill planets dry.
It wishes it could do all of those things, but what’s the point of running a legal company if you’re gonna break every law in the book?
Comet Industries enters the galactic market as a well-behaved business, and that’s the reputation it intends to maintain. Once you convince people you’re an upstanding citizen, shet has a way of sliding off of you – and when you’re the designated cleaner for a galaxy-spanning criminal outfit, you best be ready to wade through a damn cesspit.
RATIONALE
Comet Industries is first and foremost a legal front for the Nadir criminal empire. Though it started life as a simple shell company, it quickly became obvious that some potential business partners conducted rigorous background checks. They needed the real thing – products, tax returns, permits, the whole shebang. Worst of all, it had to be squeaky fethin’ clean, scrubbed free of any dirt and blood that clung to the syndicate like a bad omen.
In the name of profit and expansion, Comet Industries was reforged into an above-board company. In the name of pragmatism, Nadir tasked it with operations that would ultimately serve the shadowport. And in the name of that sweet, sweet law evasion, the syndicate launders credits through CI for all they’re worth.
