  • Accessibility: Easily accessible- located on the outer edge of the asteroid belt, just off the main transit point through the asteroid belt, but tucked deep enough in to be out of clear sight from the customs station that marks the entryway. However, they do have a landing beacon and an advertising billboard right at the edge of the transit zone, so anyone knows, although it is deliberately sketchy looking on the advertisement.
  • Traffic: Moderate
    • The traffic through Comet-Chaser Station is mostly free traders on the more dubious side of the law. Not exactly smugglers, but not against it. More than a few infochants, slicers, cardsharks, and rogues also tend to pass through the station.
  • Description: Not quite a shadowport, not quite reputable. Comet Chaser Station is a hybrid spaceport, cantina, secondhand salvage ship, and informal casino. Built out of a hollowed-out asteroid, it is a warren of caverns, tunnels, and structures built on the surface.
POINTS OF INTEREST

  • The Blue Moon Cantina: The financial mainstay of Comet Chaser Station, Blue Moon Cantina is owned, operated, and built by the station's Squib proprietor, Sheevanareeadee. It fills the entire upper level of the asteroid, at least, based on the general understanding of up versus down. Its artificial gravity is aligned towards the floor, which puts the hangar, despite its erratic gravity, beneath the cantina. Originally meant for Sheev's Squib salvage and junking crew, the tables, chairs, bar, and furniture are all Squib-sized, making it a bit of a challenge for the many other species that have ended up passing through. They have to adapt though, because Sheev runs his station with an iron, albeit small, fist.
  • Sheevanareeadee's Hostel: Sheev's second business enterprise in the station, he realized there was enormous moneymaking potential in his asteroid base, and converted the tunnels into bunkrooms and barracks for rent. These were designed to be humanoid sized, since he hosted Squib guests in his own private tunnel network. Rooms are clean and comfortably furnished, ranging from super cheap 24-bed bunk rooms to somewhat pricey private rooms. Regardless, all rooms have one refresher attached, beds, and locking trunks connected to the bunks. Decoration varies by room, depending on Sheev's mood at the time. Salvaged junk, ruined cities, and shipwrecks are common trends, however.
  • Graith's Holonet Cafe: The first non-Squib run business on the station, Graith's a holonet cafe where visitors can connect to the holonet for whatever reason they desire. Owned by a crusty old Bothan, the cafe serves traditional Bothan beverages and pastries, as well as a variety of the spices legalized within the League, albeit, he started selling them before the League legalized it, so there's some ambiguity there. While offering confidentiality and a free net, Graith's is actually a Bothan SpyNet outpost, and all net activity is recorded and analyzed by the in-house staff. However, they are excellent at helping customers find things on the Net that most beings would be unable to find.
  • Reclamation Hangar: The main centerpoint of the station, Reclamation Hangar makes up the bulk of the interior lower levels. An old exogorth tunnel leads into the center of the asteroid, with Sheenavaradeeadee having installed a ray shield generator to seal off the interior from the vacuum of space. There is a long tunnel leading to a mostly-hollow center section of the asteroid, which has had sheets of durasteel bolted to the walls and floors and magnetized for ships to land on. Gravity in the hangar is questionable and tends to be vaguely... unreliable, but generally towards the outside of the asteroid from the centrifugal force. Has room for many light freighters and some medium freighters, but no heavy freighters.
  • UnSanctioned Intergalactic Merchant-Captain's Guild Appraisal and Agenting Office: So, officially, the IMGC has no presence on Comet Chaser Station. Practically, Guild members are probably most of Sheev's clientele, with all sorts of cargo passing through the station. As a result, a retired ship captain named Tazl has set up shop as an appraiser and cargo agent. His own ship has long since been scrapped, essentially stranding him on the station. But, he knows every port on the Five Veils Route and most of the captains and suppliers. He claims IMGC levels of accuracy, as a Guildmember, but the Guild has no official presence on the station and requested he stop using their name, hence the clarification. He's not quite as accurate as the Guild analysts, but he has a wealth of experience and first-hand relations that make atypical cargoes much more likely to find a worthwhile buyer, as well as a wide array of legends, rumors, and job possibilities.
  • Recycling and Resale Center: The bulk of the station, this is much of the area below the cantina level but above the hangar. It is a wide open cavern excavated by Sheev and his crew when they first started their asteroid prospecting and salvage business. It's full of conveyor belts, smelters, and sorters, with a trash chute leading in from the outside that drops directly into a pile on the floor. The chute has an exterior ray shield and an inner blast door that ensures the room remains fully pressurized and atmospheric. Both are operated from the control console and coded to never be open simultaneously. The room is hot, smoky, and filled with fumes and embers, leading most of the Squib workers to wear environmental suits. They have a special section of the accommodation section set off just for them and their families, blocked off from the transients who come and go.
  • Church of the Force Chapter-Closet: Sheev is not exactly religious, but he does appreciate Jedi, especially what they all did to protect Skor II against the First Order. So, in recognition for their services, he set out a small, spare closet as a Church of the Force chapter closet. It is comfortable enough, despite its size, with comfortable cushions, a refresher, and some meditative crystals hung from the ceiling. There's a bunk along one wall that can be used for smaller species, and some nice artworks, but not much else.
  • Bounty Hunter's Booth: Set within the Blue Moon Cantina, the BHG has its official "office" in a back corner of the cantina, away from the door and most of the clientele. It's less awkward that way and less likely to have quarries and hunters running into each other. It's staffed by a Gand and a Tiss'shar bounty hunter, who go hunts of their own every now and then, but mostly they give out pucks and issue payments.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION:

Sheev and his crew of Squib salvagers moved to the Suarbi system shortly before the outbreak of the First Order-Coalition War, where they worked on salvaging and scrapping the old Galactic Alliance vessels destroyed in Endgame and left adrift in the asteroid belt. Eventually, they realized they could expand and work at scale with the wide variety of wrecks, detritus, and other junk spread through the belt, and they picked a large asteroid near the most common jump route to Svivren. It had once been home to an exogorth, but the creature was long since gone. The crew used that as the initial entry tunnel and excavated the rest of the asteroid. They started with a hangar to store their equipment, then just kept expanding.

Eventually, they had a tidy salvage and scrapping operation going on, and Sheev grew bored and then ambitious. He brought in some new help, purchased a cheap holonet domain based on some Suarbi spacer's slang, and started marketing the asteroid as a cantina/hostel/business center. It took some time to take off, being close to Susevfi that a short trip would get to a groundside hotel. But, as Sheev's crew kept digging and adding more stuff, eventually word of mouth spread around the rougher sorts of ship captains, and eventually these other business ventures began to expand, and turn more profit. The scrapping and junking is still the most profitable, with a multitude of smelters and recycling plants being within easy transit, but the station has earned a more social reputation.
