PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Colrenth is reserved, disciplined, patient, observant, and tightly wound. He doesn’t say much and spends little time expressing unnecessary emotion. He questions everything and never acts without thinking or knowing the full scope of his objective.
His upbringing taught him that assassination was justifiable, but since joining the Republic he found that he had developed a moral code of his own. While he doesn’t shy away from killing if he believes it to be necessary, he prefers alternative solutions and believes killing should be a last resort.
If you get past his serious attitude, you’ll find he has a sarcastic sense of humor and underneath that a very protective personality. Just know that you are unlikely to see either of those traits.

HISTORY
Colrenth Hanzo was raised by a secluded clan of humans known as the NightViper, going back generations beyond recorded Republic expansion. The NightViper clan lived amongst forgotten places at the galaxy’s edge and practiced the ancient art of ninjutsu long before it had a name. Ninjutsu — espionage, guerilla tactics, and survival. They were not Force users. They didn’t need to be. They wielded no mysticism. They were soldiers of precision, patience, and control: the pinnacle of what a person could physically achieve.
Colrenth was trained by the NightViper in all aspects of shinobi culture. While assassination was an art he studied, it was far from his sole specialization. He was versed in taijutsu, armed and unarmed combative techniques focusing on strikes, throws, joint manipulations, and non-lethal holds to end a conflict before it began. Weaponry: Kenjutsu. Staff fighting. Knife concealment and throwing weapons (shuriken). But more than fighting: infiltration. Disguise. Mimicry. Deception. Counter surveillance. Escape. Evasion. Survival.
But above all else, the NightViper believed this:
*Information is the deadliest weapon in the galaxy. *
Colrenth became adept at understanding his environment. Reading terrain, architecture, weather patterns, behavioral tells, and tells within tells. He could blend into a crowd unnoticed. Slip into new identities with disturbing credibility. Slip past security detail. Sit silently for hours and observe his target undetected. His clan trained him to understand that true perfection in his craft was an operation no one even knew happened.
Colrenth became one of the NightViper’ most skilled assassins by the time he reached adulthood. Unlike some of his people, he started to question why. Why did they isolate themselves? They barely survived off the work they sold to the highest bidder. Corps. Cartels. Back alley governments. Sure, they offered protection and kept the lights on for the clan. But what if they could provide that same stability for others?
That opportunity presented itself when the shadow of the NightViper was detected by members of the High Republic Intelligence Service (RIS) during a counter-intelligence operation.
The Republic did not seek to destroy them. The philosophy of Proactive Defense extended as much to seeking out threats as it did recruiting those who operated within it. Colrenth was offered a chance to join them.
He took it.
Joining the RIS required leaving the close-minded dogma of the NightViper clan at the doorstep. As a Cadet, he was thrown into the harsh world of Republic intel training. From there on out, it was all mental gymnastics. Psychological profiling. Code breaking. Counter surveillance. Long-term undercover work. Interrogation tactics. Resistance. Developing an instinct for intelligence analysis.
This also exposed Colrenth to operatives that could hold their own in a fight. Many could kill just as easily as he could. The difference? They had an entire Republic behind them.
He would learn to adapt.
What helped Colrenth adapt so quickly was his background. Where others might rely on technological prowess, Colrenth merged it with his own natural instincts. Discipline and years of silent observation. He learned to pair Republic long-range surveillance, encrypted communication, sensor sweeps, and deployed intel with centuries of shinobi tricks that focused on misdirection. Avoiding drawing attention to yourself when you don’t need to. Using the environment to your advantage. Manipulating your target psychologically before you even make your move.
Yet his greatest strength remained the same: *patience. *
Colrenth took his time with operations. He watched and waited until he understood the entire architecture of his target. Weak points. Pressure points. Things people didn’t see at first glance. When he acted, he struck with lethal efficiency.
What he lacked in Force sensitivity, he made up for in how he operated. The Jedi and others like them could feel** disturbances in the Force. ** Feel when something wasn’t right. But Colrenth was silent. No warning. No ripple in the Force. Until it was too late.
Colrenth excelled at his fieldwork. Even after his cadet status was completed, he was awarded promotion to Agent after several high-profile missions.
Operative Hanzo is now an official weapon of the Republic’s shadows. Deployed only when politics, raw military might, and the Jedi have failed. His work covers an array of specialties: counter-intelligence, deep cover crimes organization infiltration, VIP extraction, sabotage, and neutralizing threats before they can gain a foothold. He often works in the shadows so that the Republic need never know he existed.
Colrenth isn’t an assassin simply looking for a reason to kill. The NightViper taught him assassination was about choosing when life ends. Not how.
Colrenth Hanzo doesn’t work sadistically. He works with purpose.
To those he works with in the RIS, he can come across cold, calculating, and immensely patient. To his targets, he is seldom seen at all. Just the aftermath of security systems crumbling. Guard detail vanishing into the ether. Plans falling apart with no warning or explanation.
Between the ancient teachings of the NightViper and the military might of the High Republic Intelligence Service, Colrenth Hanzo has become something neither saw coming:
*Not a shinobi in the service of the light, but one who uses the dark to serve the Republic. *
