Code of Honor

A man of many hats. Cai thought about the possibilities possible with the force. If he could move a ball with invisible strands what else could he do? Perhaps the old stories were more accurate than he had thought. He reached out his hand, that is how they did it in the holovids, and concentrated on the object. He was trying too hard, it had to feel his way through this, not think it. He took a few deep breathes and focused on the ball, his sight narrowed in on the object and ignored everything around it. Slowly the ball wiggled in the mans hand and Cai willed it to lift. Strands of force like a puppets string wrapped around the ball, they grew brighter to Cai's awareness and slowly the ball ascended centimeters at a time, painfully slow.

Quiet descended over them as Cai worked. Kamon didn't say anything and he didn't move because he knew the young one needed him to be silent so he could concentrate. With time and practice Cai would be able to do this no matter what was going on around him. A battle could be raging. An explosion could go off next to him and he'd be focused. Right now, though, he was struggling.

"That's alright. Not everyone is gifted with telekinesis. I'm not."

He pushed the ball, with his finger, back down into his hand.

"Try and pull it to your hand without it hitting the ground."

Cai looked to Kamon with a cocky little smile plastered to his face. He reached out with his strands and grabbed at the ball. He acted on instinct, as one might in a fight, instead of on rigorous discipline. He had to prove that he could do this. Not to Kamon but to himself. The idea that he wasn't gifted in such a basic area of using the force gnawed on him. With his hand extended he concentrated on the ball. It was only his first time attempting such a thing, there was no reason to expect he'd get it in a single go. No. He would get it. He insisted upon it. The strands of force wrapped around the ball, firmly gripping it and then he yanked pulling it towards his hand....

The ball wiggled a little before shooting out of Kamon's hand. It propelled itself towards Cai, hitting the side of his outstretched hand just below his thumb and deflecting into the young mans forehead...

Kamon watched his little cousin concentrate and then blinked when the ball shot out of his hand. It didn't lift and float away like what had been expected. No, it fired off as if it had been shot out of a cannon, and careened off of Cai's hand and into his forehead, which caused Kamon to wince because he knew that was going to hurt like crazy. Of course he hadn't stopped the ball. Some lessons had to be learned.

"That's going to leave a mark...."

A chuckle escaped because he couldn't help it.

"You need to settle down, Cai. You're like a windup toy that's just been wound and is trying to expend all its energy in one go. Thinks like that knot on your head are the only result of that!"

Cai smiled at the mild teasing. His head did hurt, but no worse than the blows given to him during sparring. "Skirmishes are won with finesse," he said. "It isn't our way to muscle through opponents and use pure force." a little laugh escaped his mouth. "It took a blow to the head I suppose to realize that. What's next?"

"Had to knock some sense into yourself!"

He smirked and stood up, motioning for Cai to do the same. The room they were in was large. Large enough to do just about anything in, and easily tall enough to have a rancor come charging through the room. That was a good thing because the next thing Kamon wanted them to do required height.

"Let's try something more useful in the every day than telekinesis is. By simply drawing upon the Force, and ushering it into my legs, I can do this."

In a split second he was gone, having jumped all the way across the room to land on the far side.

"Extremely useful for moving quickly and over obstacles, like a chasm. You try."

Cai focused, he found the power within himself and concentrated on moving it down into his legs. He imaged the movement and visualized the result. Taking a deep breath he bent his knees and propelled himself up. He was successful, although he didn't go as high as Kamon. As he reached the zenith of his arc he felt himself weightless for a moment. He smiled as he started to descend with his legs flailing a little. He hit the ground and rolled to break up the impact. "That went..." he paused, "better than I thought it would."

"The landing will come to you with practice."

He smirked a little bit and then gave Cai a bit of a shove.

"Catch me if you can."

Drawing upon the Force yet again, he zipped away from Cai and over to the opposite side of the room. Stopping there, he leaned against the wall and stared across at his young cousin, waiting for him to figure out what to do since it wasn't much different from what he'd just done.
