Name: Coalition Infantry
Intent: To create a basic unit of infantry for the Coalition to use in invasions and dominions. This unit is pretty stock standard equivalent to Stormtroopers and Rebel troops from the Civil War. This sub incorporates some wording and armaments from the Freespace Rangers unit, on a larger scale.
Affiliation: Silver Sanctum Coalition
Availability: Common.
Quality: C - Trained
Type: Infantry
Strength:
Coalition infantry have a regulation company size of 150 troops. This is broken down into five platoons of 30, and each platoon is broken into three squads of ten.
Larger formations do of course exist, with the most common being the battalion (4 companies or 600 troops), brigade (4 battalions or 2400 troops) and division (4 regiments or 9600 troops). Brigades and divisions are commonly combined arms units, often incorporating motorised and mechanised units along with artillery and other units.

A squad, which is the basic building block of the force, is organised as below:

All troops are equipped with Sentinel Armour. They also carry standard military gear such as commlinks, macro-binoculars and so on.

Description:
The Silver Sanctum Coalition, being a fairly decentralised and Jedi led nation, in theory had little use for large standing armies. However, the need to defend the Coalition worlds and to have a force with which to strike the enemy contributed to a common army being raised. Recruits from the worlds in the Coalition were uniformly equipped and trained and prepared for action.

The infantry of the Coalition lack the heavy armour, special weapons and advanced training of many other nations, reflecting their militia origins. For this reason they are often brigaded together with walkers, tanks and artillery to provide them support.

In battle the squads operate in pairs, their weapons chosen for their mission. On the defence they take cover and concentrate fire on enemy infantry where possible, taking out light vehicles with heavy weapons. On the offence the assault specialists lead the charge, using their weapons to break up the enemy so the regular troopers can move forward and support.
