GENERAL INFORMATION
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: Clan Sharmat is headed by an Alor. An Alor’ad serves as his second in command. In addition to the Alor’ad, there are several Field Marshals that further serve as trusted lieutenants. Rally Masters are tried and true members of Clan Sharmat - individuals who have proven themselves in battle several times over. These are the fighting core of the Clan. Finally, there are Initiates. These individuals are unproven fighters. Perhaps they have seen one or two battles, but they are still relatively green.
  • Membership: In order to become a member of Clan Sharmat, one just needs to ask. If they can survive the trials of membership (usually something involving combat and painfully suicidal), they are given some beskar armor and told to go to town. Any background checks that need to be done are left to their sponsors, the Helix Syndicate.
  • Doctrines:
    Preserve Clan Sharmat.
  • Enrich Clan Sharmat.
  • Dominate the other Clans and general populace of Echoy’la.

[*]Curios: Like most Mandalorians, their calling card is their armor. Members of Clan Sharmat tend to wear armors of similar color schemes - white, red, and yellow are the most popular colors. The upper echelons of the Clan, the Alor, Alor’ad, and his Field Marshals, will wear special shoulder capes to denote their status. Because Beskar is a precious commodity this far from Mandalore, the traditional way Clan Sharmat acquires its Beskar’gam is to kill another Mandalorian and take theirs. In addition to the color scheme, one can tell a member of Clan Sharmat if their armor appears to have been hastily painted over.

DESCRIPTION

Clan Sharmat is composed mostly of the most vicious inhabitants of Echoy’la. These are men and women who are considered Mandalorian only in name and appearance, as their adherence for the Resol’nare is tenuous at best. Maybe it was the isolation from Mandalore, maybe it was the convergence of survival-first Spacer culture. Whatever it is, Clan Sharmat have a sinister reputation on Echoy’la, even by Mandalorian standards. They regularly rebuke other more traditional and "honorable" Mandalorians, mocking and humiliating them whenever possible. Clan Sharmat holds a particular disdain for the Mandalorian Empire, and all those Clans who are known associates of it. This is particularly true for Clan Mantis and Clan Raxis. Clan Sharmat tradition holds that they name their pets after these people, one of their many recurring acts of pedantic mockery.

While most members of Clan Sharmat remain centered on Echoy'la, preferring to answer to their handlers in the Helix Syndicate, it's not unheard of for small groups of them to wander the galaxy and offer their services elsewhere. Clan Sharmat's members have shown a high tolerance for people most modern Mandalorians don't want to deal with. They are regularly seen offering their mercenary services to criminals, slavers, Sith, Dark Jedi, and any manner of scum that leaps to mind. Clan Sharmat follows the money, and the money points to these groups.

Aside from its Field Marshals and Alor, most members of Clan Sharmat aren't particularly bright or good at anything outside of fighting. Most members of Clan Sharmat are reared on the prison colony of Echoy'la, exiles from other Mandalorian clans, or some other stripe of degenerate looking for some free beskar armor. They have a reputation for brutishness, unlawful conduct, and degeneracy. These are the Mandalorians most people would rather pretend don't exist, but here they are.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Ringvuld Sharmat showed up on Echoy’la like the rest of them - prisoners of war. Then the asteroid started to go through changes in management, a brief period of independence to start with. This was when people first started to notice Ringvuld. Ringvuld was not a very nice man by any stretch of the word. He was cruel and cunning, but he lacked for friends. He was a lone Mandalorian on a small rock in space with no means of leaving.

Owing to the tensions on Echoy’la, people picked on one another a lot. Eventually some Clan or another, Ringvuld barely remembers the name nowadays, decided to pick on him. Ringvuld decided to respond to this by venting the habitable area of the asteroid they stayed on. The lot of them died, scrambling for oxygen tanks that had already been punctured. It is considered a great crime to tamper with life support systems on Echoy’la, so a number of Mandalorians took umbrage with Ringvuld’ action.

Three times they attempted to vent Ringvuld. Two times they failed, one time actually worked, but he survived anyway. Ringvuld was what is commonly referred to as something of “a tough bastard.” Then they tried to shank him. Several times. These attempts failed as well, and now there were bodies piling up behind him. Eventually the leader of one of the few Clans on Echoy’la decided to challenge Ringvuld to honorable combat. Ringvuld behaved dishonorably and snapped this Alor’s neck. Then there was another challenger. This man’s spine was broken. Between the two, they had a full beskar’gam, so Ringvuld took all this for himself. The colors were a bit mismatched though - white, red, and yellow.

It became clear to many people that Ringvuld was not going anywhere. It dawned on a gaggle of Mandalorians that if they could not beat Ringvuld, they had better join him. And so Clan Sharmat was formed. Clan Sharmat bullied most everyone on Echoy’la into submission, snapping necks and venting whomever they pleased. There were lapses in power when various “goody-goody” factions controlled the asteroid, but Clan Sharmat held fast.

Then Ringvuld died of sepsis. His successor was less… Forceful. While Clan Sharmat continued to decline in power like it never had before, its Alor was blackmailed into working for the Helix Syndicate as an informant for goings-on in the asteroid. The arrangement proved beneficial up until Oltross showed up. Oltross came from nowhere and knew nobody, but he had a mean streak a mile long. Some might say he was Ringvuld come again. What they obviously don’t know is that mean, tough bastards are a dime a dozen in this galaxy, so its no wonder one eventually showed up. He joined Clan Sharmat and promptly took it over, venting the former Alor into space.

Rather than punish Oltross for killing their contact, the Helix Syndicate decided to take a more active role in partnering with Clan Sharmat. Provided the warriors of Clan Sharmat would be willing to run a few errands for the Syndicate every now and again, the Syndicate would be happy to sponsor their efforts to 'civilize' Echoy'la. As a result of this partnership, Clan Sharmat now has the best weapons and supply of any Mandalorian Clan on Echoy’la. It's a status they now use to continue their rich tradition of being a bunch of assholes to as many people as possible. They horde the mined beskar, selling it to anyone who will buy it. Sith, pirates, slavers, anyone. Don't be surprised if you find some Bando Gora cult leader with a freshly forged beskar helmet going forward. When the Sith Ascendancy and subsequently Sith Empire came into the picture, they further solidified their position by informing on and betraying the renegade Force Hunters.
