Faction Clan Munin Speaks

BY STRENGTH

Amidst the shadows of Botor, and far away from Concord Dawn and the weakness of the Mandalorian Empire, Clan Munin, a far more violent and tumultuous clan of the Covenant, gathers. Clans are called, representatives of all Mando'ade are welcome. No violence would be had here. Ships descended on Botor, some not seen in many years. Clan Elders gathered, torches lit, and the night was tense with revelation.

Feydrik walked forward, removed his helmet, and placed it at the foot of the elders. They returned the gesture, removing theirs. He knelt down in front of his elders, his betters, warriors great and old and wise, tested and true. They said their ancient prayers and anointed him, and doused his armor with the ancient oils. The old ways were still there. Clan Munin remembered. Vilaz was dead. The clan needed a leader. They had their elders. The elders knew what they were to Munin, knew what they were called to do by the Manda. Vilaz was a soldier, a warrior, a great one. And there was no hate, no anger in how he died. He met his end in battle.

How much more fitting, than a man such as that?

The elders retrieved a freshly-forged helmet for their new Alor, the Beskar still warm from the forge's heat. Beskarsmiths, the finest in the Empire and the Covenant, constructed it with such care. It was a mark of prestige to receive a new helmet. Feydrik's eyes opened finally, and he rose to a stand. He took the helmet as it was presented to him, flames from the torches around him casting him in a dark, powerful glow.

He balanced it in his hands for a moment, staring at his reflection for only a moment. Then, he pulled it over his head, and the visor clicked to life, a bright fire in the visor. They constructed it especially for him.

"Clan Munin speaks." One elder said, and took a knee before Feydrik.

"And we have chosen." Another said.

"To death or glory." Another Elder presented Feydrik with a pair of freshly-forged crushgaunts, more fearsome than the last. Feydrik took them gracefully, ever appreciative of the work his brothers and sisters did, especially as gifts to him.

There were no challengers, no disputes in the clan. Clan Munin was strong. Clan Munin was united. Feydrik looked over his Clan, raised his hands, and a chorus, a thundering cascade of voices, screams so loud that it shook the very stones that they stood upon in their new home. Lament for their lost leader, dreams of shattering their foes, and fire-forged warriors who fought with their new Alor all shared a voice, thunderous, monstrous in it's savagery and it's noise.

No other person besides a Mandalorian could even remotely imagine that noise, that cry of war. The cry of their lost brothers and sisters, the ashes of the Taung still clinging to their skin centuries upon centuries later. Clan Munin rallied, they cheered, they bowed and prostrated themselves. Feydrik walked among his Clan, some laying gifts at his feet, others striking him hard across the chest and back, eager to congratulate and welcome their new Alor.

Feydrik stood for a while amongst his Clan, his people, and then turned to the gathered guests, the gathered people, onlookers, Mandalorians all.

"I am Alor Feydrik, of Clan Munin."

He let those words hang in the air, eyeing his compatriots, friends, comrades. He lowered his hands and a silence took over. Some would hide in the silence, feel unwelcome by it. Feydrik let it build, let it draw into the air, a pregnant pause with no answer. He let his friends, his companions minds wander, then, he breathed air into his lungs. A single right hand, clad in a new crushgaunt, gestured to a great hall that had been set up for just this occasion.

"Now, Clan Munin, friends, guests- I bestow upon you my first gift..." And with calculated theatrical flair, lights and torches illuminated a great feast, drink, and trophies aligning the banquet tables.

OOC Note:

All Mandalorians are welcome to be here and react, but remember, there's hundreds of Mandalorians there so any troublemaking will probably be met with a fucking turbolaser or like eighty wrist rockets.

The journey to Botor from Hoylin was a silent one. A small fleet hosting a large number of members of Clan Munin that traveled with the late Vilaz Munin Vilaz Munin mixed with Mandalorians of various clans made the voyage to mourn and honor the deceased warrior. Amongst the Mandalorians making the voyage stood one in worn gray beskar.
The matriarch and Alor of Clan Fett stood besides a sealed casket containing the body of Vilaz Munin, the former Alor of Clan Munin, one hand resting against its smooth surface in mournful silence. News of Vilaz's death had been spread among the stars, and it was not long before the Clan Elders had called them to gather. Despite his sins and aligning with the Sith in the past, Vilaz had redeemed himself through the Crusades, and brought honor back to the name of Munin. The Mandalorian people suffered a great loss with the death of the Unsung, but his story was given the dignity and respect befitting the old ways -
A clean death in a Taung blood duel - an honorable warrior's end.
When the fleet arrived, Careena's ship was the first to make planetfall, the ramp lowering as a precession of Mandalorian warriors escorted the casket to be delivered and released to where Vilaz's body belonged, amongst his blood and kin. Those that arrived congregated to observe the anointment of a new Alor, the Fett matriarch standing amongst the other Alors and Elders.
Careena did not know whom would be chosen to lead Clan Munin, but upon seeing Freydrik, she felt relief. Feydrik was a well honed blade, forged in the fires of battle, and tempered by the fury that Clan Munin were renowned for. She could think of no finer choice to take the mantle of Alor than a comrade she had fought alongside; to uphold the traditions of their ways and to keep Clan Munin steadfast and strong in the battles to come. She knew that Feydrik would not cower or shy away from battle, but lead his clan into battle and unto victory.
Where one legend found their end, a new one would rise.

Despite her time as a crusader, Zandra still had much to learn about being a true Mandalorian. One thing she had picked up, was that Clan Munin was among the greatest of the warrior clans. Their deeds were as legends, and their members regarded as elite even amongst the ranks of the vaunted soldiers of Mandalore. Whether they be part of a Crusade, or simply bounty hunting, their skills with blaster and machine were never in question.

To be sure, these were momentous times. A new Alor was being chosen for Clan Munin, one who was no doubt going to lead the clan into yet more legendary deeds. She knew of Feydrik, she'd crossed paths with him once for just a brief moment. Watching him take the place as Alor was stunning.

Zandra bowed her head as the helmet was placed upon Feydrik's head. There were no dyes in her hair, nor was it up in her usual pigtails. She chose reverence over rebellion this day, the elder Mandalorians deserved that. It was a celebration not just of Feydrik and Clan Munin's deeds, numerous that they were. No, today was a day for all Mandalorians. It was proof that the wars had not wiped them out. Though Empires may fall, and Crusades die out, the spirit of Mandalore still lived. Whether as an Empire or a Covenant, Mandalore endured.

These were things which Zandra thought about in the presence of such great warriors. Would she ever be worthy to be among them? She'd begun life as a simple street punk, and now she was a warrior. Perhaps, if she continued on the path, she would be a part of the living legends of The Creed.

While the current festivities were jovial, Zandra took a moment to remember those who they had to thank. All of the mandalorians who had come before them. Martyrs all, those who died upholding The Resol'nare. They were the pillars on which all of this had been built. Today she would celebrate in for those that could not, a symbolic raising of glasses with those true heroes.

If anything, Carduul had come to expect this outcome at some point. Though he was saddened that he was unable to meet Feydrik's predecessor, for he had heard the panoply of stories that came with such a figure. One could not help but wish to meet living history, after all. That was unfortunately an occurrence he rarely had fulfilled. Perhaps one day, he would have to pester another of all the history regarding Vilaz Munin. Yet, that would not be today- for rather, this was a day focused upon the future instead of the past.

There was hardly any doubt in his mind that Feydrik would be the one to reign in the disparate and wayward souls of his Clan. That was his hope, anyhow—and it had been the truth in the end. In spite of that, he still felt a sense of vague pride, watching from that crowd below. A large handful of the helmets within said crowd had been recognizable from the wars led upon his own battlefields, on top of that…a rare welcome upon Kestri, for him.

A brow raised as the announcement gave way to festivities. He…was still not exactly one for such. But, he supposed sneaking a snack here or there wouldn’t hurt to upkeep his constitution. So, Carduul had stalked the edges of the table to keep away from most of the crowd’s eye. Perhaps fate would see fit to have him give congratulations face-to-face, today, as the crowd continued to shift with the reveal of such.

The festivities began, and Mandalorian, warrior alike came through. Feydrik stood tall in the middle, removing his helmet, holding it aloft, and took a deep breath. He pulled in the warm air deep into his lungs- and breathed, breathed deeply the warm air of life. His people thrived. Clan Munin was recruiting, bolstering it's numbers by the dozens each day. They were gaining strength, traction, power, but did not seek to occupy like Verd, seek to ruin, they sought to build, to fight, and to honor The Covenant. But, like all Mandalorians, Clan Munin had an open secret.

They still held true to Feydrik's beliefs, now more openly than others.

Carduul Akahl Carduul Akahl was still their Mandalore, their Sole Ruler. They held no qualms about now displaying this fact, this belief, this right- with Feydrik at the helm. So Carduul was revered, given grace, and was anointed as such when he entered the Munin ceremony.

Feydrik approached him as the festivities went on, his Clan beginning to display their love of family, drink, and merriment. They were among the fiercest and most ferocious of the Mandalorian Clans, but also, the most jovial and warm to their friends. Feydrik was no different. He approached Carduul, helmet in hand. He held it out for him to inspect, perhaps even to grace with even just as much as a touch.

"Mandalore the Anointed. You honor us with your presence- my Mand'alor."

Feydrik led them to two seats around a large table, waiting until Carduul sat. Feydrik took in another deep breath when the two of them sat, before speaking.

"There are troubling times ahead, Mand'alor. I am optimistic about our future as the Covenant. Do know, that I will seek your counsel as before. Your words carry much weight, as now- mine will."

That fact seemed to linger on Feydrik's mind, even moreso that he spoke them aloud. Leadership was not new to him, but to be an example, to be righteous and loved, was.

"Did I ever tell you the third fight I had? My third professional fight in the Deep Core, I should say."

Now the time of quiet reverence was done, it was time to revel in the festivals and traditions of her people. Though, it was hard for her to feel as if she was truly part of this. Her heart was still one of an outsider, but that didn't stop her from feeling pride at the sight of Mandalorians thriving and partying. Perhaps confiding in the one of the older Mandos might be a worthy endeavor?

She was hesitant to walk up to anyone, as she wasn't sure of the deeper protocols at play. Then she saw Careena walk amongst the gathered crowds. She'd served with Careena during The Crusades. They had never bonded, too great was the gulf between their stations was simply too vast.

Taking a chance, she walked up to the black armored woman. She crossed her arms over her chest plate, addressing her as a superior rather quickly. "Jate tuur vod, I am Zandra Ruus. We were in the Crusades together. I was hoping to speak with you a while. Maybe catch up?" Zandra's traditional Mando greeting came off stilted, as if she was still maladjusted to speaking the language.

The lack of a helmet only made it worse, she was obviously a young girl unsure of herself. She was a child surrounded by giants, that was clear enough. However, she was still confident enough to stand tall and rigid in front of Careena, just as a soldier should.

"I have heard a lot of tales of your battles, sister. It's inspiring how you managed to survive it all. Especially the raid on the shipyards of Contruum!" Zandra became immediately embarrassed by her own actions. Here she was gushing over a fellow soldier as if she was a school girl meeting a holo-vid star. She immediately tried to take up a tough looking visage to compensate. "I mean, I'm impressed I guess..."

Careena watched in her usual silence. Festivities and celebration were not her usual scene, as she often kept herself to her duties as Alor with a little more callousness than most - Ever the vigilant and watchful observer, on guard and ready to fight no matter the circumstances. That did not stop her from allowing those who had accompanied her to partake though as she turned to one of her own, Goran Fett, giving a subtle nod. The silent gesture was enough for the older Mandalorian warrior to cheer loudly as the celebrations began, the other Fetts and Munins that had accompanied her from Hoylin going to mingle amongst the rest. Despite their differences, both in leaders and ways, they still all found a way to find common ways to rejoice over liquor and food.
A small smile escaped her usual stoic expression hidden beneath her helmet, if even for a brief moment before her gaze turned to Carduul Akahl Carduul Akahl who arrived shortly after her. Like Feydrik, Careena still acknowledged the Anointed as Sole Ruler, a simple gesture of her fist beating against her breastplate as she offered a bow out of respect. So long as the Anointed lived and fought, so too would Clan Fett's loyalty. Even if the Iron Covenant did not follow by conventional means, it was still important that their people had a leader to rally under; someone to follow rather than the Iron's honeyed and poisoned words. Actions spoke louder than words, and that day on Mandalore when House Verd summoned the clans to declare fealty told her all she needed to know. She gave Feydrik the opportunity to renew his loyalty and vows - Carduul knew full well where Careena stood, regardless of time or circumstances.
The brevity of her silent reflection of the near past was broken as she was approached, her head turning to greet the younger Mandalorian. She offered a nod, "Your name is known to me sister, as are the names of all those who heeded my call." Despite the way she spoke, Careena understood with a gentle kindness regardless. For one to take their oaths and follow their ways, she held nothing but appreciation and respect for. She noticed the woman's rigidness as she raised her hands up to her her helmet, lifting it off her head as she rested it on a nearby table, taking a seat before gesturing for the younger woman to join her, "Be at ease. We are surrounded by friends and kin tonight."
She remembered Contruum well - A raid to seize ships to bolster their fleet. She also remembered someone masquerading as Preliat Mantis Preliat Mantis attempting to kill her during the raid. It still did gnaw at the back of her mind as to why he attempted to kill her, but she would avenge her comrade some day. She quietly pushed the thought off as she returned her attention back to Zandra, "Your presence here is credit enough to your skills and prowess as well sister. Take pride in that. A warrior only thrives so long as there is battle to sharpen their wits and hone their skills." she complimented.

BOTOR
A Farewell and Celebration

flat-post-divider.png

THE_SOUND_OF_VALHALLA

One falls, and another rises...

It was the way of the Mandalorians whether it was the Sole Ruler or a Chieftain of a clan. This day would be remembrance for the past Alor and celebration for the new one. For Kaiyra Munin, it would be more one than the other.

Vilaz Munin Vilaz Munin had died a Mandalorian warrior's death and Feydrik Munin Feydrik Munin had earned the right to lead Clan Munin going forward by a vote of the Elders and no challengers. That was that. It was tradition and she accepted this without question, though Kaiyra didn't have to like it. Grief was a fickle thing. There were all sorts of emotions one goes through and sometimes double backed several times to torture your heart and soul. Today she was all over the place.

This wasn't the first major loss for the young Munin and in a short time frame too. Her mother had marched on not even two season's earlier. Briika Munin Briika Munin had been Vilaz's soulmate and when she died it broke his spirit. Kaiyra knew he was a changed man after that. So it did not surprise her that he had stood up for the boy who caused an offense and took his spot in the duel. The ol' Akaan always did want to go out in glory.

If only I could have been there to stop such recklessness...

The young Concordian had been off on a raid when the sign of the crow told her of his passing. Now Kaiyra was seemingly all alone. Well, except for the clan as it was. Her brother and nephew had not been heard from in some time. Adenn was too much like their father and that restlessness aways got the best of him and made him yearn for bigger and better. And as far as her older stepsister.. Meshla Detta Meshla Detta she'd last heard teamed up with a Beroya and had gone to work as a hired gun in the Western Reaches.

Why did blood have to be so complicated?

The Akaan's daughter took a deep breath to center herself, then strolled into the hall where the feast was going on to celebrate their new chieftain. She was dressed in her usual red beskar'gam with a cape draped over one shoulder. The blonde slipped off her buy'ce , smoothing over her head of plaited braids with a gloved hand before cradling the helmet with the other.

Blue orbs glanced around the room once spotting Feydrik and also Careena Fett Careena Fett , then she made her way over to them. Careena was the Mando who had fought Vilaz to the death, honorably.

"Su'cuy, Alor Munin... Kandosii," Kaiyra offered with a cant of her golden head trying to convey genuine respect to the clan's new leader, then turned her gaze upon Careena.

"And you, Alor Fett. I want you to know I have no ill will towards your deed," she paused a moment trying to keep the pain from showing in her eyes, then continued. "Vor entye for bringing my father back to me for a proper farewell. I will hold a funeral pyre later should you wish to attend. That is both of you."
