Atrisia before the attack was beautiful and sitting there as she looked out upon it now. Jar'kai and Xainlong were cities unto themselves.... Were beautiful and the sith lord had heard stirrings. Rumors on the air and voices of others when she grew interested. In a name she hadn't heard in a long time... someone she had thought gone while she was waiting there and thinking back to it. When they first met so long ago. Her mind was wandering and it was like the area was changing to her. Massive fields giving way to rough mountains, towering buildings of stone and wood that went across the side of the mountain itself and overlooked the ocean. Mists from the morning slowly coming off of the ocean but clinging to the mountain tops and sides where the city itself was cast in shadows and mist mixed light from the sun.

Sawa herself was very different, one of three daughters to the chamberlain. A position that their family had held for thousands of years and she knew they would always. Atrisia was ancient and far older then some of them knew... she knew it, her family knew it and they had found themselves spread across the planet from kunloon an island that had been discovered during the first age. Before the rise fo the Republic, where history and legend were formed with emperors ruling for thousands of years because they didn't have a galactic standard year, where legendary beings preformed heroic deeds and more so. She had always been enthralled by the notions of the world and the romantic view that was presented with them. Sawa was sitting in the one class room as the other students were around.

Sawa was very different, younger by most standards, standing there in her kimono as the white silks shined int he morning mists. She looked out at those who were assembled within the school where she had prepared for anything. The others were assembling their classes but she stood tall above them. Overachieving as it were she wore the tie of a head prefect. The student disciplinary committee was a major thing in this school and the twenty one year old atrisian noble was considered the head of it. Being voted in by the students who wanted to and the teachers who thought she was doing a great job. Sawa stood there while her hands were out moving around and she directed traffic. "class presidents get your students in line and assembled for the headmaster." She said it looking over at them when finally they had finished.

The academy was something on Atrisia that came for anyone. After general educational classes the ages of eighteen to twenty one so they could be prepared for later. From being within the royal court, to lords and ladies of prefectures under the emperor or empress. Everything that they wanted to or needed to learn from advanced educational classes to how to play musical instruments, dance, diplomatic aids as the galaxy was starting to open up. The older civilizations dying out and soon new ones will have to rise up to take their places. There had been talks about a group within the galaxy itself who were visiting some of the worlds. So Sawa wanted to become a diplomat, she wanted to see the stars and explore the mysteries of the galaxy. SHe would first of course have to convince her father to let her go.. he had two other daughters.

She spoke looking at the older man who was standing tall and intimidating, he was a former yovshin guardsmen, everyone here was in some way trained to fight. THey had to protect the students who were from wealthy families and political leaders. "Headmaster they are all assembled." She offered a grin and breathed in some satisfaction. THe man turned to look at her and she knew her next duty. "Very good, now go and make sure everyones uniforms are up to code while I deliver the morning announcements." She bowed her head and was moving, the prefects, the ones in charge of handling discipline among the students and reporting any infractions were all moving around. Checking their classes to make sure they were all wearing the proper clothing and it looked clean. She looked at a few of them who were standing there and small fixes.

She was making sure all of them were proper and looked proper, stopping when she came to one of the nobles, the girl had gone through some work to make sure her kimono was messy as Sawa motioned for her and was taking her out of line. To one of the buildings proper. "Your uniform is not up to standard Midori come with me." She said it while moving and taking her with her, a few of the others had ben brought in from the different classes and were being handled with their uniforms being fixed and then they were running laps or doing something equally strenuous to administer proper discipline. Sawa looked at Midori when she crossed her arms and straightening out her kimono she stopped and looked at her shocked. "Where are your?" She said it while the girl had a smile though checking to see what her reaction would have been.

"I didn't wear any, I wanted to see what you would say big sis." Sawa looked at her though and stood back up making sure she was straight backed and serious. "That is not funny, I am not your sister and this is a major violation of the rules. What would your father think of this if he knew?" She had a small look a the rest had cleared the area and she was alone with Midori. She was looking at the girl and she had her hair up like the rest of them at least but she was speaking. "Well I doubt he would care, he doesn't want me to have schooling... he'd rather I just play the part of the princess like my other sisters." She moved then and Sawa felt herself pinned against a wall with a hand on the back and near her head before Midori tapped her chin with her fingers. "Though you should know that, the chamberlains daughter would know what the emperors does."

Sawa was standing there and looking at her, she knew the princess and she knew her sisters plus her brother. This was a game to Midori... she had played it since they were younger and played in the water gardens. Pink marble structures with hundreds of pools and fountains. Trees of every type one could imagine and fruits from around the planet, around the galaxy even that were able to be grown specifically there. Sawa had played with them and her family visited often with the royal family. Maintaining a tradition... but it had been different. Midori had always been more predatory towards a few of the servants and she knew the rumors, she knew the whispers in the halls of the royal palace. It was not something to be ashamed of but there were certain expectations of such. Sawa was pinned against the wall and felt tension in her back.

"Do you want to run head prefect?" The girl was looking at her and she had a grin on her face.. one that spoke of danger and she had used this Sawa was certain of it before. No one would question or reject the princess.... Sawa didn't either though she did resist as she felt lips against hers, the taste of cherries from the lip balm the princes used, she could feel her holding her head immobile for a moment before pulling back just enough to breathe in the scent of jasmine, rain and other things. THe Ike's and the imperial family were older then most realized.... dating back and such they had an understanding about it. The scents of the world clung to their skin when she focused deep enough to feel it. She could practically taste it under the cherries and while she looked into the girls eyes felt something different. Midori caring about her was questionable but she did enjoy having her around.

"THere we go, not so bad big sis, you are getting much better at this. A few more years of praxtice and you might be able to seem a natural." She was teasing her now and Sawa felt flushed in her cheeks, looking at her as Midori backed away but straightened her uniform. They were heading out and Sawa stood as stiff as she could while the announcements continued. Drifting through classes where she could pass without paying much attention and then she felt something... like a tingling in the back of her mind. TUrning to see someone entering. A new student that she was to show around as she stood up and looked towards the woman. Hands clasped in front of her as she turned in her work for the teacher. "Gretings I am Sawa Ike." Sawa bowed her head with a nod of her head though looking the girl over.

She drifted a little looking at her but her mind remained firmly entrenched in the here and now... hopefully. She had never managed to answer. She likely wouldn't either, Midori was a wonderful woman but she was much like Sawa just in school and playing at something else. So the head prefect would well work with this and take this new student around the academy. SHowing someone the view from the side of a mountain that went down itno the valley and rose up into the clouds was not exactly a bad thing to see and the beautfy here was something she always found to be intoxicating to the senses. There were the cherrry blossom trees around some of the walk ways and in the right season when they bloomed and blew into the wind... it looked like a wave was cascading down the side of the mountain.

"Ni-Ne?"

"Yes, Father?"

"The Legacy of House of Li-Ves one day will be a burden you must shoulder. The honor of our home. The honor of our Five Rings Sword School. All of that will be your burden someday."

"I will be ready, Father."

"Someday. But until that day, you must always prove your worthiness. Not to me...you are my daughter. I know worthiness exists within you."

"Because it came from you and Mother."

"You are sweet to say that, my daughter, but...no...worthiness is not passed down. Worthiness is earned. Gained. Through intelligence, Practice, Charity, Empathy, Opportunity. These are the ideals which must be sought out over a lifetime. It is a journey that never truly ends until the day the spirits call us to our rest. And maybe not even then. If you are worthy, it is only because you want it enough. And to keep wanting to be worthy requires ambition. This school we send you to...it will open many great opportunities. This is an opportunity for you to fill your head with other perspectives. Perspectives beyond that of our family."

"But Father, is not our family wise, and kind? And charitable? What other perspectives could we need?"

"There is more than one path to wisdom child. Sometimes, that path is not always an easy one. One may find themselves alone in their search. Some in their search even walk the path of the vagabond, the masterless. Sometimes one must pick at the thoughts of others to truly learn what they themselves wish to be, and what legacy they wish to leave behind. We are honorable, yes. But times are changing, and the old ways will give rise to new. And when old goes, so does the old wisdom, which is replaced by the new wisdom, which is the old wisdom reincarnated. And sometimes old wisdom must know when to die...and when to be reborn. You, perhaps, may have to undergo some sort of rebirth someday, for your true destiny to lead you to more wisdom than what I can provide. But to do any of that, you must take that step first toward the future."

"Remember my words daughter, and the honor of house Li-Ves shall always find new hope to carry it..."

Ni-Ne Li-Ves, daughter of Shimada Li-Ves, all his sons killed in battle. His only child left. He had students but he had only one Ni-Ne. One daughter to carry on his legacy in a way his students never could. One who knew all his secrets. All his wisdom.

Ni-Ne had gotten dressed in the school Kimono, everything done expertly for her first day, down to her very dark hair, which was expertly done to the schools standard. House Li-Ves had a long history of honorable service as both soldiers and administrators for the Emperor. It had not been difficult to secure Ni-Ne a place. Shimada Li-Ves was known far and wide as both astoundingly generous and virtuous, that and one of his brothers had been killed defending the Emperor's family, paying a bloody price in mutilation at the Assassin's hands for his all-too-effective effort at thwarting the frustrated killer who had eventually overwhelmed him in a fit of rage. What was left to bury...was best left unsaid.

She blinked blue eyes speckled with flecks of green and brown as she had patiently waited in the courtyard, watching as one woman, Who Ni-Ne recognized distantly as a particularly incorrigible princess Ni-Ne had long ago been told in private to keep a distance from and not act too interesting when around. Problem was, Ni-Ne was already a beautiful, twenty year old woman with a light olive skin tone, and balanced, delicate facial characteristics. She had no skill for using any of it...her father had been adamant growing up that Ni-Ne never be allowed to skirt by on looks. He had trained her harder than any of his other students, and made sure she studied electronics and medicine. The way of the Five Rings was so engrained that she felt naked, not being able to bring her Katana, Thousand-Handed Titan, with her. Not that she actually WAS naked underneath this white Kimono she now wore. She saw the princess get dragged away, though by that look on Midori's face she'd been counting on it. Eager even. Oh well, as long as she wasn't paying any attention to Ni-Ne that was fine. Didn't need to run afoul of a princess, especially on the first day.

But unexpectedly, being led to class...she had chosen Atrisian Early History as one of the courses...she ran into that same woman. She was beautiful though perhaps a bit stiff. While Ni-Ne's posture was no less formal, her fingers occasionally flexed out of unconscious restlessness.

Had she known at the time who the person standing in front of her would become, and the role she would play in Ni-Ne's downfall, and had she been armed with Thousand-Handed Titan, Ni-Ne would have drawn the sword in one swift motion and killed her without debate, though not without remorse.(though that too would later vanish in regards to Darth Shojo.)

But because Ni-Ne was still relegated to a 'not yet' by fate, and seeing how at the time there was no way she could have known just how poorly this would all end, Ni-Ne gave a genuinely innocent, friendly smile. There was no calculation to it, not the jackal's cunning of royalty. Just warmness.

"Hello." she said gently, her voice somewhat deeper than most girls, though not quite what you would call a contralto.

"I was told you would lead me around. Its nice to meet you. I'm Ni-Ne."

Sawa looked at her and she looked normal enough but there was something.. something tingling the back of her mind before she bowed. "Greetings Ni-Ne, I am Sawa." She offered a smile and the teacher was sending them out to not interrupt the class itself. Sawa clasping her hands in front of herself and she spoke. "I know you... kind of. I mean I have seen you with your father." Sawa said it while she was walking into the open courtyard, trees on the side that looked out upon the valley leading towards the royal palace and the city. Sawa stood near the trees while she motioned an arm outwards to let her take it all in and from here she could get a good view of the higher levels of the academy.

"The school, for all that it is worth is built on the sie of the mountain. Offering us this view of the Imperial City, each class has their positions with a small garden, training area and pathway between them. Administration buildings are located within the center of the mountain near the main area that we eat." She said it with a smile and was trying to recall who and how she remembered seeing Ni-Ne at court. Her family were the chamberlain's helping administer for the Emperor and Empress. Instead though she walked and offered the area so she coudl coem and see the view. "My father works as chamberlain and my mother has been named the most honorable investigator."

She said it more with a smile though and remained straight backed and calm. Hapy even as she was getting a chance to show someone around and wouldn't have to be within the classroom with Midori. Things were a little too awkward when Sawa waited for Ni-ne to get there while continuing the tour. "Our class studies throughout the day meeting in the morning after we eat and staying there until after dinner." A look on her face before she was heading towards one of the tres and looked up. The fruit was ripe, thick blood oranges as she grabbed one and slid her finger into it. Prying it apart to let the juice run down her hand.

Sawa sat down on one of the benches with it and offered it to Ni-Ne, just the one half when she was swirling her finger along the lip to get as much of the interior freed as possible. The scent was sharper in the air but she held it out of the way not to get the juce on her kimono. She waited until Ni-Ne took it or set it aside and ate a piece for herself giving a goofy grin with a piece in her mouth. Juice running down her chin when she looked up at the girl. "Come eat, we'll continue into the gardens and I'll show you where the yovshin are. They patrol around the academy to protect us from harm but also to make sure we aren't sneaking off."

But she knew some of them let the students go free, there was a small village below them. For growing crops tha would serve as food and livestock on top of it. Where they didn't have to see the people but they had festivities, they had gambling dens and brothels.... more so they had bars that many of the students found themselves sneaking away to go and visit. She had never gone but she knew Midori and others did just hearing them sneak away in the middle of the night from the dormitories was enough but she wouldn't be able to really do much. Even as the head of the disciplinary she needed to be able to catch them in the act but being out of her room would put her int he same boat as it were.

Sawa finished though as she was looking upon it, where she could go and get them into the dormitories that were open right now. Being cleaned by servants as Sawa continued to speak. "These are where we will be staying, your room is likely ready for your after class and the servants will put away your things. There are additional guards here sometimes." SHe pointed them out as the royal guards were standing around. Sawa waved and they acknowledged her but she was walking. "I'd recommend if you can to be careful around Midori." She said it as a friendly warning, Midroi wouldn't hurt someone but she was very adamant about her proclivities as it were.

Sawa was walking and going through some fo the winding pathways came out in one of the larger gardens, small trees were in a circle, the signs some of the students had been here working as the scent of freshly turned soil came up. The head prefect looked at the garden. "THis is the main garden for visitors, when they want to bring their children here the headmaster has the family wait here while seeing us." With a smile on her face though she moved around in the garden and the buildings where Sawa was looking at soem of the other parents from court who had arrived. "Oh." She said it and motioned for Ni-Ne to move back into the trees.

"We aren't spposed to be standing around here for long, the parents don't want to see us." She said it looking over though at the people as she spoke. "I have seen them a court as well, minor cousins to the Emperor. THat ones brother was kicked out fo the Yovshin for his conduct and vanished." Sawa stayed there for a moment and she moved her hand out to guide Ni-Ne off towards the path leading back up and grazed her arm. Feeling a jolt for a moment before smiling to herself. It was different touching her... even her arm. She wasn't trying to pin her down like Midori just.... well just get her out of here and not in trouble.

Sawa came out with a small giggle though before she looked over at Ni-Ne with a bow of her head. "There are a few other places we can visit still and show you. Where would you like to go." She waited for a moment and pointed towards the stairs leading them up or down the walkways to the different areas of the academy. "We can go up and see things such as the aviary and the observatory where we have been studying the stars. Or we can go down towards the stables and the springs." She offered a smile but had her hands clasped behind her back moving a little in place with a twist. "Your choice."

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne followed Sawa out, admiring the views from the courtyard. Atrisia was always especially beautiful this time of year. Ni-Ne also tried to recall if she had seen Sawa at court. And when Sawa had mentioned her own father was the chamberlain and mother the head investigator, it instantly registered just how high up the food chain she was already over Ni-Ne personally (She thought it equally strange that the first measure by which she used to guage Sawa was through a concept with inherently predatory ideas underlining it.) Her father had been a great warrior and great defender of the Imperial Family, and had been a General before retiring after his last battle...the one where his final son had been killed also. He had more than earned his place, through killing many, many people. Personally she hated court, and its trappings. Hated protocol, all the thousand strange customs that had never made sense. She never expressed that dislike. Not out loud or in private, all of it wisely staying locked behind her mouth, the most secure place for it. Her fathers advice. An errant word could so easily be turned to scandal.

She thought she could recall her, in passing. She seemed then much as she was now. Eager to please...but there was a hint of something else, in the eyes, at least.

In the eyes, Ni-Ne saw someone who wouldn't exactly mind letting her hair down...not that Ni-Ne intended to follow suit if she did.

It was at this point, exploring the grounds that Sawa plucked a blood orange from a tree, offering a piece of it to her. Ni-Ne took it, despite disliking the sight of blood of any sort, or anything that reminded her of blood. Though she was skilled at the sword, she knew the best type of sword was one you never needed to draw. Or never wanted to.

As she took the piece of offered fruit, watching Sawa smile, Ni-Ne smiled back, though as she bit into the juice, the sweetness began to taste too coppery for her liking and she soon swallowed it, giving no outward reaction to ingestion though she felt it slide uneasily down. As she smiled, Ni-Ne nodded in thanks, though she maintained her reserve. "The gardeners certainly know what they are doing here."

As she made the small talk though, watching Sawa's goofy grin she began to get a better sense of the person under the prefect. Carried herself...but wasn't one of the stiffs. Eager to impress, given how dedicated she was to maintaining that "Head Prefect" poise, the often numbing decorum required of interaction between the elites...but it started to seem like she would prefer just having someone to talk to. It must be even lonlier at the top than she thought. Ni-Ne certainly didn't want her position. She wasn't even sure what her own would be. She had originally considered practicing medicine...she certainly knew how to treat a sword cut. But part of her...part of her half dared considering a life with a sword in hand. She knew she shouldn't. She knew what such a life had done to her family...but what would it mean, really mean, preserving her family's legacy, if she was not true to how it was founded?

More than once, she had begged to follow her brothers into battle. The whole family refused, not because she would not make for a good warrior, but because they loved her. Part of her numbness to the passing of her brothers came from the grief of believing she should have been there for them.

But as they continued with the tour, Ni-Ne forgot the observation, and her own misgivings about her future as she continued to follow the prim and proper Sawa, though as they passed by the dorms and Sawa gave that warning about the Princess, Ni-Ne grew a little more wary at the thought of interacting with the princess. But to hear Sawa address her as simply Midori instead of Princess Midori perhaps gave a little too much away on Sawa's end, Ni-Ne thought, though she simply smiled and nodded. And given how upset Sawa seemed to be in the scant moments she gave the warning, Ni-Ne imagined she was not entirely thrilled with the arrangement.

The place was heavily monitored...this was the cream of the crop after all. Her brothers had been Yovshin...not that that mattered now. Ni-Ne was never to be one. She knew that. But she also knew she could probably take down any of them if she had Thousand-Handed Titan with her.

And then their tour stopped at the main garden and visiting area. Ni-Ne enjoyed the scenery, the plants and exotic flowers scenting the air like cinnamon. Ni-Ne drew a deep breath as she was led away by Sawa who said there was an observatory, and twisting, perhaps...suggestively...Ni-Ne ignored it. Probably nothing. Probably. She had not noticed brushing against the woman's arm, but started to get the feeling something here was...different.

"I would enjoy seeing the observatory, I think." Ni-Ne suggested helpfully at [member="Sawa Ike"], giving her that same warm smile. Sawa looked happy, and for some reason, Ni-Ne wanted to keep her smiling.

Sawa looked at her and she was thinking about it. GOing to the observatory was something she could do. Leading the way towards the stairs that went up and standing to the side as she bowed her head to the man passing by. Tall and dressed in a more regal attire, the device on his hip she had seen when he came to the school... when he had been hosted for dinner at her home. "Master Jedi." Sawa spoke clasping her hands in front of her before he stopped and bowed. "Lady Ike, I hope your studies are going well." She looked up, he was older.... the first showings of grey in his hair, salt and pepper facial hair while he wore a robe.

THe mixture of his jedi robe and the robe he had been given as a gift gave him a look of belonging on the planet. "They are going well, I am just showing our newest student around. We were heading up towards the Observatory." He gave a nod of his head and waited for a moment as two others were following him. "Well then I shouldn't keep you my ladies. You have a busy day and I must appeal to the Emperor to allow the Order to train these two." Sawa noticed them finally and two of the underclassmen, young boys standing there in their uniforms but they were covered in sweat and some dirt. It looked like they had been training but she was uncertain what they had been doing.

"Good luck master jedi, I do wish you well in your endeavors." She said it offering a smile as she bowed her head. The jedi himself moved bringing a hand out to pat her shoulder. "THank you and good look in what you are doing here." he looked and bowed towards Ni-Ne. "My lady." He said it and the three of them were heading down the stairs near the port to head to the city. Sawa turned to look at Ni-Ne and she spoke with a look on her face. "Recently the jedi have come to the world. He is the watchmen of this region searching for those who can go to their order. My father assures me that there is great honor in their order but I could never see myself leaving Atrisia."

She motioned for them to continue and the sound of the bells came. A ringing to announce that classes were out so the students could go and get into their next lessons. Sawa reached the top of the stairs and reaching the top she was able to overlook and check out the school as the students were milling about. Going to the different classes and she waited for Ni-Ne to be next to her. "The observatory is this way." She said it offering a smile and moved to the large building, opening it up and in the center there was two things. A model of the Atrisian system, the sun with orbiting planets and it was large then above it a platform with the telescope.

Sawa was looking at it with a grin on her face before she stopped and pointed towards the stairs. She was going up to show it all off and the model fo the system moved silently around as accurate as they could make it with the planets moving slowly in small rotations. Sawa stopped at one of the sides of the platform walkways. "It is here that we can look out and find just about anything. Sawa moved when she heard something and turned observing someone else entered the observatory when the door was closing but didn't see who they were. Her head turning back to look at Ni-Ne as she stayed on the far platform letting her go and see the telescope if she wanted to.

THen she felt something, a hand on her shoulder leading her quickly back and behind one of the shelves she felt her eyes open wider in the darker room for a moment as Midori was standing there looking at her. "Little sis." Her voice was soft but she was standing there and holding her hands. "I was so worried you had disappeared with the new girl." She made a motion to look over Sawa's shoulder for Ni-Ne and smiled to herself. She was more then pleased at this situation and Sawa could feel her hands gripping her a little tightly but she spoke. "Sawa, you weren't going to forget about me because you saw someone pretty were you?"

Sawa was looking at her and she felt the grip loosen for a moment but she put her head down. She hadn't been... no she hadn't been thinking... how did Midori know.... no Ni-Ne was new she was just a nice girl. There were a million thouhts going through her mind when Midori spoke bringing her hnds around and holding her close. "Oh little sister it is okay, I understand and..." She trailed off tilting Sawa's head up. "I can forgive you for this. How were you to know the depths of my feelings for you.... I don't show you. I just favor you, I just give you a seat with me on my fathers dais when your mother and father are at court."

Sawa was listening and standing there as she wanted to protest but she was just standing there as she felt Midori kissing her and she felt guilty... how could she have.... how s=could she have thought Ni-Ne was anything but a new student. Sawa meekly downcast her eyes when she felt Midori pull away. "Sorry big sis." Midori she could fel smiling with a tight lipped smile while her eyes narrowed. Hand going to her chin and she lifted her head up. "It is okay Sawa, when I am empress we'll have all the time in the world. You'll be my mistress, there with me in the palace and I'll protect your delicate heart." She seemed almost predatory though as Sawa was going to speak.

"Princess we should go." Sawa looked as she hadn't noticed the second woman. Midori's personal shadow and bodyguard. A yovshin... well more an elite. Oona-Bugeisha were not often seen. They were highly trained though, a part of the Yovshin who worked instead on a more personal level protecting someone. In this case Sawa was very familiar with Akiko who stood in her slimmed down armor with twin jar'kai blades on her hips. Hair in a pony tail and intricately carved shoulder pauldrons. Midori sighed but was backing away and the two fo them disappeared leaving Sawa there as she smacked her lips together for a moment.

Sawa remained there stunned a little as she was imagining it.. well what had led to this. Three years ago when they were in court Midori had introduced her to him. A man she didn't like as much, a visitor from a far off planet in the deep core that few mentioned but he had come here for diplomatic purposes. Standing taller then all of them, broad muscled in the clothing he wore, long black hair that was braided and skin like chocolate. Sawa had been called to escort Midori while she was playing host to him, to protect her honor and make sure nothing untoward was done. It wasn't often done but her father was chamberlain and he had some pull.

Her mother as well had had suspicions about Midori... wanting to make sure the princess wasn't going to shame her family by running away with an offworlder but none of them had an idea of what they were.... asking of her. Sawa had encountered Midori when they were younger in the water gardens where she saw how she treated some of the others around her. Not being cruel but she was using her position to amuse herself with them. She had taken an interest in Sawa then but it wasn't until she was brought to court that anything had happened between them. Sawa being asked by her mother one day to stay with the princess.

Sawa brought her mind back to the present and she was still against the shelf, Ni-Ne was somewhere in here and she had to... she had to make sure she wasn't lost. yes make sure she continued the tour before she was stepping out and looking around. "Ni-Ne are you alright?" She said it and was unaware if she had... well if she had been near or had stayed with the telescopre or went to check out the different images they had managed to pull. "We should continue the tour. There is the aviary with the falcons and different birds we have." She offered a bow of her head preparing to continue the tour leading them down the stairs and outside back itno the light.

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne happliy followed Sawa to the path up at the observatory. As she did she saw a strange old man. Didn't look like he was from around here. The silvery glint of the device on his belt caught her eye. She had only heard of them. She'd never seen one up close.

A lightsaber. The final word in swords. Magnificent. Nearly unbeatable without the right metals. No sword would ever replicate its range of motion fully. Which meant the mysterious man must be a Jedi, which was confirmed when Sawa addressed him as such a second later, as he was followed by two dirtied up local boys she guessed had been trained. The mysterious power the Jedi were said to have really did seem to be everywhere. Ni-Ne listened, not offering any words as she watched the two interact. She only nodded and smiled when he gave her a short "My Lady" and headed to the port below. Last thing she needed was to draw attention to herself. She didn't like this place, didn't like the set up, how all the relatives of the "elites" were here, "protected" by Yovshin. It felt too...convenient. isolated, difficult to reach (and thus penetrate the security.), and more importantly, difficult to escape from.

Ni-Ne wasn't planning an escape, but she knew gilded cages when she saw them. One of her brothers had told her of a very similar occupation they once had for particularly troublesome bankers and a small, out of the way island.

She did not notice as she daparted with Sawa after her explanation that the Jedi had taken pause after a fair distance, turning to look at Ni-Ne as she headed up...

The observatory was magnificent, painted in the Atrisian royal colors, the recreated system moving through an often golden observatory that had the specially crafted planetary orbs moving with a soft, subtle musical chime that almost could not be heard. Ni-Ne loved stargazing. Loved the idea of going to other worlds. If only she didn't have so much going on personally.

Her father had taken sick as of late, a wicked cough that refused to abate. She had taken care of him personally, ignoring the world, until finally it seemed that he had sent her away so she would not have to watch further deterioration. And so here she was, though why he had sent her here, to this place, when he knew, perhaps had even worked at places like this under the guise of "protection", was a great mystery. Shimada usually kept his reasoning close to the chest though.

As Ni-Ne had eagerly gone forward at Sawa's urging to view the telescope, though she got a sudden, unexplained chill as she left to go check, and out the corner of her eye saw her pulled away behind some shelves to another area.

She tensed, shoulders drawn to a haunch out of slight fear. She could not hear what was being said, but as she watched the Princess emerge from the same area, just as Ni-Ne had drawn closer to the telescope, she also saw a well know elite Yovshin emerge with her. A deadly one known as Akiko.

I fought a duel with her once. Very vicious. Very deadly. It is best you avoid her ire if possible. Shimada had warned her.

Ni-Ne took a slight step backward as Akiko caught sight of her. She gave a small grin, and Ni-Ne, calmly, impassively, took a step further back. Akiko merely smirked at this as she left out the exit. Sawa emerged from where she had been stolen, and though she looked upbeat, Ni-Ne knew she wasn't. No one was upbeat after encountering someone who had Akiko as their right hand.

Sawa offered to show her the Aviary. Ni-Ne agreed, with a nod. Sawa looked sad. Very sad. This angered her for some reason. She wasn't sure what Midori's deal was, but Ni-Ne felt her blood heating up, though she remained as stoic and calm as ever outwardly as she agreed to Sawa's idea.

Her hot blood however, the same kind that had given Shimada such a nightmarish and violent reputation on the battlefield, caused her to make a move, though later in the evening she would silently acknowledge to herself that what she was about to do next, in this moment, was an incredibly stupid act.

"Hey Sawa, you wanna get a soda or ice cream later?" Ni-Ne asked, even as a part of her wanted to ring her own neck for asking, screaming inwardly You stupid kark! What the hell have you done?!

Ni-Ne looked at the lonely looking head prefect and decided whatever had been going through her head, it didn't matter. [member="Sawa Ike"] was lonely. Sawa Ike needed a friend. A real one. Not whatever the kark Midori was.

Stupid stupid stupid! You've karked us! You might have just put a big, fat, karking target on both of you! her survival instinct screeched impotently in helplessness as she smiled at Sawa.

Sawa was surprised... shocked for a moment as she stood there and looked at Ni-Ne... a soda.. or some ice cream. It took her mind off of things with Midori when she smiled looking at the girl. "Yes lets." She moved now, elading the way towards one fo the buildings. It was a small food stand. Mostly for buying food if you didn't want to get the daily food they cooked. you could add some more to it or if you had special diets and needs for nutrition. "We can get something here." She was it while walking into the line and looking at the few others who were there. Some fo the Yovshin were watching from the sides as Sawa looked on.

"Lady Ike." There was a voice that she knew well from her home. Turnign to look at the man in his attire. "Investigator Oba." She bowed standing there and looking at Ni-Ne before the man continued speaking. "I am glad I could see you here, your mother sent me to mention that she is being sent out to the Dawn fortress." Sawa knew the place from when she was younger and had heard about it. An ancient fortress that had been constructed but mostly fallen to disuse with the rise of space travel and faster ships. No longer did travelers need to stop there to feed horses and animals or rest their feet.

"Thank you." Sawa bowed her head though and he departed quickly. She was a little saddened at the news her mother was well heading out again but she was the emperors and empresses investigator. Sosokan-Sama.... Sawa though was glad to hear at least she wasn't being stuck in court before she turned to look at the two who were being the counter. "We would like two cones of the sweet cream and some sodas please." Sawa said it and dug in her pockets producing some fo the aurodium coins for them. She got look of approval when they saw it and bowed her thanks as it arrived. "Come on Ni-Ne." Sawa said it and looked for a place they could sit down.

She moved towards one of the benches and sat down offering a place to Ni-Ne as she spoke. She was uncertain what she had seen or heard but didnt' want to broach that topic if they didn't have to. She could see something had been in the girls eyes after the observatory and the way to the aviary was still along the pathway. Sawa took a drink though as she tasted the sweetness of the drink. Licked the sweet cream for the little chill. "So please Ni-Ne tell me about yourself more so at least. I ah... I am afraid I am not very interesting." She hung her head down while waiting for it but allowed the conversation to flow. This was.. nice.

The sounds of the school were there as well and she listened to Ni-Ne as well as the school. She knew there was more to it, the high walls and the defensive towers were an important thing. The path towards the Imperial city was just as guarded and she didn't know the full purpose of the school but they did teach the students. While the army between them and their families, strictly supervised visits and well very rarely were students sent home after trouble. If anythign they just seemed to be taken to some of the higher buildings and towers or deeper into the mountain. Her mother had said be careful she she would have nothing to fear and her father had agred but kept her younger sisters back.

She was thinking back though and paused when she felt the hairs on the back of her neck. Eyes shifting as she felt and saw Midori with her yovshin walking by. She gave them a look but was not interested in coming over nor did she seem to interested in the conversation. If anything Midori seemed to be ignoring them and Sawa cast her head downcast before she turned back to look at Ni-Ne with a small look on her face. "Sorry, I was distracted." The look she gave was apologetic and sincere before she looked at her sweet cream and finished it. This had been nice and Ni_ne was quickly becoming someone that she liked being around.

Sawa waited for them to finish and was leading looking across though towards one of the towers. "So are you ready to continue?" A smile on her face while she was moving off of the bench and towards the aviary. The drink still in her hand so she could throw it away in the disposal unit. She was walking slowly and waited for Ni-Ne with a look on her face of excitement. Renewed spirit as it were before she was heading off towards the larger building and it showed off to the side the rounded area. The sounds of different birds they had were coming out before she smiled and opened the doors. The scent of different trees, fruits and the colors came.

"Here we go, the aviary." Sawa was looking at it and she held a hand out, her wrist getting a shift of weight as a falcon landed on it. She held her other hand out and was petting it gently as it cooed. She had met this one before... helped it even when she first came here. Keeping it in a small cage to nurse it then when it was ready she was able to let it fly around carefuly. In here it had food and water, space plus she could see it all fo the time. Sawa was looking at him though and turned towards Ni-Ne with a smile on her face. She motioned towards the benches under the trees. "We have cherry blossoms here that look beauiful when they bloom. Same as the sides of the school and pathways."

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne smiled a bit, in spite of that stare from Akiko.

She had never liked that woman...they'd run into each other in passing in court a few times, before her father grew sick. She didn't know what it was that made the elite fighter always give her this knowing look. Like...like she knew something Ni-Ne didn't. They'd never even spoken, let alone been near each other for more than a few passing seconds, like now. Even as she maintained her happy facade, right at that moment she was kicking herself. Midori would find out sooner or later. She'd get only a warning. She hoped. Ni-Ne followed almost silently, her robes only slightly giving away the movement of her legs, hands clasped together in front of her, went outside, but before they could actually ordered, Ni-Ne noticed one of the head investigators and immediately bowed her head, going silent. But she listened. Her mother wasn't around. And Ni-Ne knew a faked smile. This girl was alone, her mother off to some outdated fortress whose use fled when men from the stars had come. At least Sawa's was still alive. It was pretty empty at the Li-Ves table these days. Father was too sick to take food except by bed.

Ni-Ne, once the investigator left, picked an ice cream with a mint flavor and a grape flavored soda. She watched Sawa lick the ice cream almost dropped her cone from the distraction but caught it a millisecond before it could slip out of her hands. She stared all around at the high walls and yovshin.

Regular patrols every twenty minutes. Heavier armored yovshin are closer to the entrances. Could be used to repel invaders, but much more useful for preventing unwanted departure. Spotted two...three...hidden blaster turret ports disguised as statue bases at choke points in the halls. Wouldn't be surprised if the sprinkler system doubled as a gas distribution weapon. Defensive towers probably have cameras watching. Ni-Ne thought, shaken from her worrying observation as Ike asked about her.

"Oh, I'm...I sorta...sorta like gadgets. I like to take them apart. Put them back together. I've even built a few..." Ni-Ne explained haltingly, taking a sip of her soda.

"I am the last child of House Li-Ves. Daughter of General Shimada Li-Ves."

The House of The Blood Tiger. That was what she heard the nobles call them behind their backs. Though they were only one of many families keeping them in power, when not just your father, but many members of your family had such a history of blood thirst in combat that some of them had been tested infamously several times to determine whether or not they were actual vampires, it said a lot when some had been even more horrified then they would have been if those tested had all just turned out to be blood suckers. But they never were. It was just butchery. Plain old butchery. Albeit with a passion for it that unsettled other military families. It had won them fear. Great fear. But fear and respect are not the same thing. And though they did command great respect in public...those whispers remained.

Ni-Ne had been about to say more when Midori walked by them. Ni-Ne said nothing. She had never liked bullies. She ate her ice cream at a regular pace as the princess walked by, sipping her drink until she was done. She watched Sawa's depressed reaction, and felt a tug in her. She apologized, but there wasn't a need to.

She was starting to worry for Sawa. How would Midori react? Would Ike suffer the consequences?

Ni-Ne hated herself for the idea that simply reaching out had gotten her in trouble.

"Its okay. And...I'm ready to continue..." Ni-Ne added helpfully, wanting to ease her distress.

The lonliness of eighteen months alone in her fathers stronghold with only guards and retainers managing the estate seemed to have gotten to her. But Sawa seemed happier and that happiness distracted Li-Ves as she entered the Aviary.

She watched as the falcon landed on [member="Sawa Ike"]'s arm. She didn't reach out to pet it, more distracted by the delight on Sawa's face.

"So what about you Sawa? What do you like besides falconry?"

Sawa Ike

She was listening to her, enjoying this more then she had thought she would. Standing there as she looked towards Ni-Ne with a look thinking about it. "Well I enjoy the water gardens. They are lower down the mountain. Some of the fruit trees are exotic from another planet." She said it though moving closer to have the falcon between the two of them. it feathers were shiny and gleamed where the mists in the aviary let them clean themselves but wouldn't become waterlogged. Sawa held her up so she could fly off before she spoke. "Her name is Reiko, I found her in the grove with a broken wing. Then just raised her back to good health."

She said it with a smile looking at her fly around. Sawa was looking at her and she liked the idea of Ni-Ne... working with gadgets and she knew the General.. or of him. She remmebered meeting him once long ago. The Imperial palace was colder but outside of it, there was the estates, for the highest levels of the people. Walls with defenders, soldiers and yovshin who served to protect the Emperor and empress as the pathway interwoved through thicker walls creating chokepoints and luring anyone attacking into designated areas to be attacked. The estates as thiey were also served for generals, chamberlain, the investigators and the emperors family members.

Sawa had been sitting near her father when the general came to see him, the older man was renowned for his skills as a yovshin protecting the emperor's father. Meeting a general of renown and infamy. Sawa recalled some of the jokes and rumors about him, their bloodthirst in battle and ability made them powerful and dangerous. Still her father respected the man more then she knew he cared about jokes or rumors. Her father had explained when she made a joke that honor was more improtant then rumor. The general hadn't dishonored himself, he may not be as they were, he may not see things but his honor was without question.

And to him that was what was important, honor above all else, he wouldn't partake of the rumors or stories about it. He welcomed the general he welcomed his appointment and most of all he welcomed those loyal to the emperor. The thought came back to Sawa though when she thought about it and she had a family.. she had little sisters. Even if she didn't get to see them as much she still got to have them. The last daughter of a family was something she couldn't imagine... "The last daughter though, you must have been lonely." She said it though while standing there and breathing in the scents of the aviary as the trees and flowers were all around them.

Her head turned though to look at Ni-Ne and she saw something there.. it was different. Strange and foreign.... where Midori seemed sure of herself and what she could do or would do in most cases. Ni-Ne seemed to be enjoying herself and being in this moment. Sawa's hand wanted to reach out and do something... She was uncertain there was something... a shoulder pat. That was friendly right? She patted her shoulder offer a smile though. That was what you did when you were happy at least. "Come on, we can keep going and I do want to learn more about you." She was more then hapy to see it heading out as the aviary led to some back steps.

THe shaded pathway down was lined with arches and trees holding different fruits. From lemons, ripe and yellow to mango's and down further it changed to plums. One of the servants in the academy, dressed in common clothing had been plucking them and adding them to a barrel. With a look at the two the toothless man bowed his head and offered them some that were out and drying. Crusted with sugar and sweetness like a candy coating. Sawa picked up on and held it as she licked it, tasted the exterior and the sweetness was high. The man was looking at them and Sawa thanked him again as he seemed different.

Sun burned face, covered in wrinkles with a toothless grin before she spoke. "What is your name. I have not seen you here before." The man spoke with a look in his eyes which seemed overly perfect. Full of wonder and excitement. "Oh my lady, this humble one is Wapoe." He said it and was bowing backwards as Sawa turned to look at Ni-Nefrowning a little. "Why does that..." She remembered turnign back but he was gone when she looked towards the doors and trees but there was no sign that he had fled them. More it seemed he had just disappeared into thin air. Sawa was waiting for something but the air was still and stairs leading down.

Sawa was looking around more and uncertain about it. "Where did.... wasn't he just...." She said it but it seemed like something she could fremember as a little girl. Traveling with her mother, the palanquin they were in stopping at one of the smaller villages outside of their home. That deep area in the mountains, Her mother had just had her sister Jiyoen, the little baby was there sitting next to her. Sawa across from her and being mostly ignored as everyone seemed to want to fawn over the baby. She had been upset and when they finally arrived she had gotten out fo the palanquin, looking around the village.

The people were simple farmers, wearing clothing that looked more like rags compared to her kimono, their faces burned from the sun and working in the fields. Their eyes squinting as they moved, some seemed to be wearing little more then just a pair of pants and her mother was bringing food. A celebration when they lined up and wished blessings for the baby. Sawa felt something she didn't know, she wanted the attention, she wanted to be praised and special. When her yovshin guards were distracted by a child kicking a ball close to them she took off. Running away with a dust trail kicking up behind her.

She came to a small area of the village that looked run down, no one was around but she thought she could see some wild dogs when it happened. A hand grabbing her arm, pulling her as a blade was on her cheek. The man looking at her was about to sneer and say something.... but then he was on the ground. An older man, grey beard, rounded belly and a kimono pushing him aside. "Now now that is no way to treat a child." THe man with the knife slashed and attacked, trying to kill him and then turned towards her with a fervor in his eyes before he charged and came at her. The older man stopped him grabbing his arm and jerking him around.

"I said no, you wil deal with me." He moved the blade grabbing it as she could hear in the distance the sound of her guards, they must have been following her. The gleaming of their pale blue armor, the light green of the jade screamers on horses charging around them. The older man stopped him and grabbed the young man. THrowing him tot he yovshin who stood with their blades drawn. He waited there and while blades were held on him Sawa spoke. "No wait he helped me." There were some looks but the yovshin remained prepared until she was moving to thank him. Her mother appearing and the man spoke.

"Thank you Lady Ike." He seemed to know who she was and her mother gasped with a look on her face. "Muneakira." The man had a look on his face bowing. He seemed different... he seemed glad but his eyes were different. Younger then his body looked, with a gleam to them. She looked at everything that had managed to happen though and he spoke. "Lady Ike, your daughters are beautiful and I am glad to see you safe." The Yovshin had also changed watching the older man, instead of suspicion instead of them holding their weapons they stopped and secured the blade son their hips. "Prince." They spoke the words but he shook his head.

"I am not a prince, not anymore. My brother is the emperor, his son is the prince." The man was watching them though and Sawa turned her gaze up seeing him, seeing everything that was being done before her mother came and touched her shoulder. Holding her close along with her sister. THe yovshin seemed to stand there for a moment but then when she turned back to look at him the man was gone. "And just like that he has disappeared again, I don't know if telling his brother that he was around here will do much." ONe of the yovshin, who was in charge spoke. "Won't he want to know?" Her mother shook her head.

"Yes but he also knows that he will have moved on somewhere else. After the battle against Tagi, when his son died the prince has wandered. Become a ronin and not settled anywhere for long. Even my investigators have only seen glimpses of him, seen and heard rumors that he might be around here or there. Sometimes for a wek, sometimes for a month, once he was at a village for a year before disappearing." She got looks from the others and the little girl turned back to look around. Seeing her mother when she listened to her, standing with her though the young girl came back to herself. Looking at Ni-Ne when she was uncertain.

"Those eyes." She said it and the eyes seemed the same... no they had been the same eyes in a different person. She felt strange watching the place around them and she could have sworn there was a breeze going along her spine. It was almost like amusement but not anger or something evil... no wicked thoughts as she continued down towards the botom of the steps. The stables were there, other servants standing around as they fed the horses and other animals they had here. THe handler was there with the different horses as they trotted around, groomers taking care of them as it all looked wonderful to see.

"The horses are very beautiful today." She said it walking but had another destination in mind... still no point in not admiring the horses. "Thank you we try Lady Ike." THe man stood tall and more regal looking but he wore common garbs to avoid the dirt and mud. A straw hat to protect from the sun while Sawa got to continue along the pathway going towards the stone structure. Here she could stand and look up giving Ni-Ne a view of the entire school as it stretched up higher then the clouds. THe top towers of the mountain, the buildings all of it displayed in a way that was awesome inspiring, with the cherry blossoms in full bloom as a gust came they would fall and cascade over the school.

Coming down the side of the mountain like a sea of pink and purple. The stone walls of the water gardens the ones here werer a soft pink marble. Carved with atrisian murals, painted with history and Sawa watched as the cherry blossoms swirled around it. Sawa was moving around so that she would be able to check out. She entered the larger structure and it was sunken in. They were actually on the third level of the buildings overlooking it, fountains, pools and a small pond full of koi like fish. That shimmered under the water, black and white scales before The cascade of blossoms washed over it and she could see some of the others.

"Classes are done." Or at least for some of them as the older students were here, some swimming, some lounging around. Yovshin watching them where everyone was but not making many moves. Sawa walking to one of the platforms that looked out and you could see the field for the horses and learnign to ride stretched out. A field for sports as well as the stetched gardens. Beautiful trees full of fruits, flowers and small trees that were maintained by the students. She breathed in the scent of it all intermingling between fruits that were ripe, flowers, trees and nsture. THere was also the sounds of the students playing, the water lapping at the stone.

Sawa looked towards Ni-Ne though and offered a hand more to pull her up onto the platform where she was standing, the beauty of it should be seenf rom a good vantage point. Beyond the wall was a village and part of the city outskirts. Filled with people that were milling about, the faint sounds of them as they gave their wares, called to each other. The head prefect was watching for.. something with Ni-Ne.. she wasn't certain but she was sure that she had never been in a place like this as the breeze brought the cherry blossoms to swirl around them. To carry the scent of the mountains and more. Older things, jasmine, rain.

It was older scents, like from before the schools were made, before the emperor and wars, something sweet and tantalizing. "I haven't brought many here, you can see everything almost, the highest tower where the headmaster is, the edge of the walls leading to the outskirts of Jar'kai, the water gardens that lead into the real gardens themselves. High up all of the blossom trees and there is so much more here to show you. I don't know if we would manage to get to all of it today.. or even this week." She had a smile on her face though brushing some hair behind her ear, eyes downcast and rocking slightly back and forth on her fet.

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne admired the beautiful bird that Sawa showed her, how it just landed because it trusted her.

Can it be ordered to fly to a specific point? she wondered, though she chose not to ask right then.

At the reminder of her only child status Ni-Ne remained reserved though nodded her head in acknowledgment. It had been difficult, some nights, listening to her father cough a few rooms down, laying awake in her bed, staring at the lovely, varnished wood ceiling. She had done her best to keep him comfortable, even though his servants could have easily done the job. She smiled in spite of her grim thoughts as she was patted on the shoulder.

"I was number nine of the bunch. Can't say its pleasant watching the previous eight come home in a box, but that's the hand we were dealt."

Ni-Ne chose not to elaborate further. Some of her brothers had come home in very tiny boxes. There simply hadn't been much left.

She hated having grown so numb to that kind of loss. Part of her wished she'd gone full Yovshin, like she had begged her father and brothers for years. But Shimada and the brothers always forbade it. Always. Being one man's only daughter and the only sister of eight others had always carried such a curiously strange weight to them. They were content to teach her Yovshin skills, but she was never to be an official Yovshin. She could understand the strategic value...being apparantly unattached to the military but having military skills could make for quite the potent X-factor...but that didn't mean it hurt any less, not being able to be with her brothers when they died. Ni-Ne forced herself to keep smiling gently, even as her stomach curdled from the unwanted adrenal rush that came with survivor's guilt. She followed Sawa out of the Aviary and decided to tell her more about herself.

"My mother was in the Navy. She was lost in space when I was very young." the young woman spoke. "After that, my father and brothers raised me...Father insisted I study strenuously--"

She didn't go into specifics of her education. She had picked courses she knew would provide no challenge save for having to sit through them until she figured out why she was here...and more importantly, how to leave.

The pathway from the aviary had an orchard-like set up, and as Ni-Ne watched Sawa eat a piece of fruit (with a little too much interest on her part) Ni-Ne realized how very beautiful Sawa was, and understood why someone might be jealous over her.

But then...that strange man with the stranger eyes...too alert for a peasant, Ni-Ne noted. Way too alert. Father had always told her to watch out for that type. The ones that don't fit are the ones to watch in these areas. Staring at him, she wished she had Thousand-Handed Titan, if only to ward the strange one off. But he disappeared down another route before she or Sawa could properly follow, she seemed to become lost in a memory for a moment, remarking on the over-alert eyes of Wapoe. But Sawa continued down, leading them to the horse stables. Beautiful, strong horses, nothing less for a VIP. Illusion of transportation, and it was confirmed when the reached the bottom, and the scents of fruits, and cherry blossoms filled the air. Ni-Ne felt very relaxed suddenly, though she had been more on edge the more cameras hidden in plain sight that she had spotted. As a Li-Ves, her father was well versed in the composition of treachery. He had passed this wisdom onto her. A field? A whole field built into the mountains for horse riding? A whole bevy of tasks to distract with? And all the Yovshin, watching silently? The overwhelming scents here could easily be a place to disguise extra stuff added to the air, stuff designed to placate and relax.

As she was pulled to the platform, getting an excellent view of the security perimeter, and the layout of the headmaster's tower from this vantage point she had no doubts left in her:

This was a prison. And all of them were hostages.

Sawa spoke shyly about wanting to show her around more some time. Battling that sinking feeling in her gut as the true nature of the place poked through the beautiful facade, Ni-Ne kept her composure. Not only was she a prisoner in what was a maximum security VIP prison, she'd likely just upset the one student who might have any real pull amongst the Yovshin...Midori.

"I'd like that some time, Sawa. Tomorrow, perhaps?" Ni-Ne asked, noting how perfect her hair looked with the wind rustling through it. Poor girl. She thought this wasn't a death trap. She didn't belong here. Too sweet for a place like this. Too sweet for Midori certainly.

As Ni-Ne was about to ask more questions, such as security layouts, one of the academy servants came and told her her clock had been delivered. Ni-Ne's expression instantly went to stone. Her clock. It had been brought here.

Ni-Ne had to leave, but seeing her so shy looking woke something that Ni-Ne knew was a bad idea to listen to. But there was a good chance she was going to die in this place anyway.

"There is a two hour gap inbetween my second and third class tomorrow. Why don't you show me more then?" she asked.

Meanwhile...

Ni-Ne had not seen where the Jedi Master had gone after their brief encounter.

After saying goodbye to his prospective students, The Jedi in question, Albrecht Bo, a long time diplomat to the Atrisians, after making sure his prospects had gone to their classes, had taken a small skiff out to an isolated island, where a lonely fortress surrounded by trees resided in the afternoon. The warriors, though watching from their hiding spots...the Jedi Master could feel them through the living Force as he walked through the territory. He knew he was expected...or else he would not have made it to the fortress alive. Men like Shimada were simple like that.

His hands folded behind an iron gray robe, the white of his tunic billowing in the wind slightly as he approached the grand doors of the Fortress entrance. Carved with reliefs of ancient warriors of the Li-Ves family, He found it already slightly ajar. Shimada didn't stand on ceremony, Albrecht had always given him that much. As he walked through floors of polished black oak, the thin draparies depicting the tiger biting a calf--a symbol of the family's nature--Albrecht found no servants awaiting him in the empty, wooden reception hall.

Albrecht removed his hood as he approached the simple square throne full of black pillows with the face of a red tiger biting a calf on all of them.

At the center of the throne sat a figure in a bright red, hooded Kimono. His face was not visible in the low light, but the glint from his eyes was. His hands, old and wrinkled, had ugly yellow talons for fingernails.

"I'm surprised you didn't try to have me killed when you knew I was on this world again."

"Being so close to death's door does not allow me to engage in the luxuries of my youth. Having Jedi murdered is a young man's game." The voice was aged, but commanding and somewhat harsh in its inflections.

"If I might ask...what's killing you?" Albrecht wondered.

"I never played the fool around you, Bo. Please don't be one around me."

Albrecht sighed. Shimada was right. He already knew before stepping foot here.

"I warned you the way of the Dark Five Rings would kill you and your sons eventually."

"I did not allow you here for a lecture."

"You're still overdue for one."

"You're enjoying this."

"Enjoy seeing a once brilliant, vibrant young man slip to decrepitude through his cruelty and bloodthirst, without even being able to hear the Force on top of that, and drag all of his sons with him? There is nothing about that that brings joy, Shimada, I assure you. I just find it tragic that only now, at the end do you understand."

Shimada decided to humor the Jedi. "Understand what?"

"You now understand what its like to be your victims."

"Good dig...but I know you too, Albrecht. You think I haven't paid attention to your end of it?"

Bo said nothing for a moment. "Point taken. Now...why am I here?"

Saw looked at in that moment, something seemed to be shifting... something seemed to be happening but then the moment passed. As the head prefect stood there looking at her though she gave a bow of her head. "Tomorrow then." between classes, she could handle that most of the teachers treated her as she worked hard with a little leniency. THey wouldn't mind her going out to help the new girl when she stepped down from the platform and help Ni-Ne down. The smile wasn't leaving her face though as she walked back. Allowing Ni-Ne to head off on her own and explore. Sawa went through the water gardens and there were a few others she knew.

"Oyuki." WIth a bow of her head she looked at the one student. Standing there as she wore her hair down for now. Usually in her uniform it was colored. Multiple colors but here in the water gardens as the dyes had been washed out. It gave her a very different look compared to normal. Short black hair, bangs clinging to her face. Sawa walked over and embraced her feeling the water soak her uniform in the front before the girl was speaking. "Sawa, it is good to see you. Well now that you are done." She looked at her and raised an eyebrow tilting her head towards the platform as she was speaking. "Didn't know you liked having an audience."

Sawa felt herself going red, she didn't know what to say as Oyuki hugged her and kissed her forehead. "Come now sweetie.... I am kidding you. No one else saw, I only noticed because I was down here." Sawa looked up at her and was aware of the girl pressed against her with her arms wrapped around her. "You should be more careful, Midori has been in a mood lately." That got a look as Oyuki backed away prepared with another disarming half smile. "Oh don't worry about the princess, she might seem pent up and angry but she knows we are all here. She'l just have to get over it, you are too cute to be only her friend."

That got a look from Sawa as she turned her head feeling like there were a thousand eyes on her at any time. Ni-Ne had gone off towards the dorms. Oyuki had remained here in the water gardens until Sawa was thinking about some of it. "So are you heading back tot he dorms now that classes are over?" The woman gave her a nod. "Yeah I am, come on and I'll walk with you." They started heading up out of the water gardens to the stairs leading up and she looked towards the dorms themselves. Some of the girls were using the Biwa that they would practice with. Sawa looked at them and approached bowing her respects.

"Sensei." She said it with a smile on her face and the man turned to look at her. "Ah Lady Ike welcome." He offered a smile, warm and welcoming but then spoke with a grin. "We were just talking about some of the songs of our past and one came up. A friend of yours mentioned it." He turned looking at Midori who sat there practicing and Akiko was off to the side. The princess came up and offered the instrument to her. "Please Sawa chan play us the ballad of Unaga." There was a look on Sawa's face and she knew it well... it was a thing of legend within her family and from an age of Atrisia many didn't fully want to remember.

"I ah." How could she refuse, there was a look on her face though when she took it and went to sit down. Adjusting the strings, her body and she tested it a few times. She wanted and needed to make sure it was right as she looked up at Midori offering a weak smile before the princess stood there. "Hear you now the sad lament Of Unaga the star of the morning. Whose parents died of the sickness, When she was not but ten. Eldest of three Lady of Bei Xi, So off Young Unaga went to live With her wicked uncle Who one night stole her maidenhead." THe music was sad, the tale something she knew from her family.

It was an ancient song, some didn't know if it still existed but there were dangers until she looked over at it. "So into the night she fled. Oh Unaga you'll never escape, The Fate the Gods of Atrisia have written And life must seem the cruelest jest Oh Star of the Morning. To the yovshin she fled to take oath and leave her troubled past. She cut her hair and changed her name To Vatsyayana. At the Imaperial City Unaga took the vows. To protect the emperor and all it held." Ahe could feel something, she knew well the story and there was always more to it always soemthing that was left out by the family. For respect and because this was still centuries old.

"Thought a boy by all and she hoped to live forever As a brother in the guard. Oh Unaga you'll never escape The Fate the Gods of Atrisia have written and life must seem the cruelest jest Oh poor Star of the Morning. Now Unaga was so diligent To keep from watchful stares but one night as she bathed her brothers saw her body bare. These men were quick to break their vows as they threw her to the ground. Bonds broken they took her honor then her life While Unaga made not a sound." It was only one to get darker, Sawa looked up at the others though who were around and they were silent. She remained still though with her hands on the strings.

"Oh Unaga there's no escape The Fate the Gods of Atrisia have written and life does seem the cruelest jest Oh poor star of the morning. It is said Unaga still yet walks The Imperial Palaces shadowy halls A pale form singing sorrowfully The loneliest, saddest song." Sawa finished and stopped as the music seemed to go away. her eyes wet with the barest hint of tears beginning to well up but she would do them as she put it to the side. Unsure who might have heard as other students had seemed to come around. They knew her family, they knew the legend and there were others. Sawa looked up though as Midori and Oyuki were both standing over her and just sat down.

THey weren't being mean but they were being friends. Despite everything they held her offering some smiles and jokes that couldn't be heard that well. The teacher clapped and thanked her, the other students who had been practicing were trying to mimic what she had done with her hands. Sawa moved into the dorms and into her room as her roommate stood there looking at her. A small look on her face, long purple black hair in a lightly bound ponytail. "Well that was certainly beautiful, hate how you have that talent but they only ever want you to play a sad song." Sawa looked up at her and just laid down before the woman continued to speak.

"Thank you Ami." There was a weak smile on her face though when she heard some sounds. A droid appeared near her beeping and wooping. "New friend?" She looked at the black and silver metal droid. "For you maybe, your mother had him delivered here. Apparenly he is highly experimental in design and they wanted you to have some sort of companion so you could talk with her if need be. Given the monitored communications this might make you one of the most popular. No one wants to report the chamberlains daughter." When Sawa looked up at her and at the droid she was curious about it. "Well Hello."

While Sawa was meeting her new droid, Midori and Akiko were in their room, Oyuki was her roommate as it was, she mostly just stayed on her side of the room. "Well that went in a way you didn't think dearie." Oyuki spoke standing there with her back propped against the wall. An aurodium coin dancing in her hand as it rolled along her fingers before she brought it back up. "coin for your thoughts princess?" Midori was looking at her somewhat angry but mostly just huffed changing into the night clothing. "I wanted her to fel embarrassed but the others loved her. That song is not meant to inspire or move others it is meant to show what happens when you step beyond your station."

"I think princess that you are falling for your bed warmer. She was only meant to protect your honor by makign certain no one could kidnap you and your honor. Yet you act like her opinion should matter to you. What is the opinion of a wolf to a dragon by what right does she get to judge you dearie?" Midori looked at the woman and she was different, compared to the others here who had station she was here because she was Yovshin, undercover and younger then most. A prodigy from the Sena household. Her family legendary for their skills with a sword and she was also good at manipulation to become friends and get to understand.

"Aren't you only supposed to be here to find dissenters, ones who seek to challenge my father Oyuki or whatever your name is." There was a huff from Akiko who had remained silent but she stood there in her armor. "It does not make her wrong princess. You are feling something more for her, your face is flushed thinking about her, you catch your breath and when you saw her with that other girl you showed an emotional response." Midori seemed to be looking at them. "And what about you, you spend time with her just as much as me, more so even. IN the water gardens." Oyuki shrugged while she stood there against the wall.

"And princess, I was sent here to find those who were disloyal, it wouldn't do much good if I just moved from person to person. Sawa proves herself loyal to your father, her family proves itself loyal to your father. So we need to respect that... just because I get to make you jealous and acknowledge that you do care for the girl is an extra added bonus." She smiled watching Midori though before she moved forward and stood next to her princess wrapping an arm around her. Akiko remained next to her. "THink of it this way, we are protecting your heart and ego by doing this instead of continuing to let there be pain that happens with it."

She got a look as more was shaping up, in the distance the fortress of Dawn came. Sawa's mother stood on the battlements as she spoke to the yovshin with her. her skin was paler then normal but it looked like it with the black of her hair down her face and shoulders. THe reds of her kimono and armor, her eyes looking out on the ones who were attacking here. They had tried to wear the armor of Tagashi. A darker house of Atrisia but they had failed to acknowledge one important part. They had no discipline, they had no coordination and all attacked randomly. If it was a tactic to draw away suspicion from the man in question it was inspired and clever.

But she wasn't really seeign it as that Tagashi was smart, he was fierce but he was alwso loyal. Attacking the emperor wouldn't serve his needs as it were. So she looked forward with the aurodium half mask on her face where she was looking down at them. "Continue the attack, draw them in and send the screamers after them. I want them to be run down since they didn't bring mounts." She got nods of acknowledgements from them. Turning to look at the armored warriors who had set the trap. The pathway up here was opened, freely made for them to be able to come in and attack them which seemed like a fatal flaw.... as she wanted.

The Battle for Dawn had started while Sawa was asleep dreaming about everythign that had been happening and she was not certain about it. She knew she was caring and rather enjoyed spending time with Ni-Ne but ther was something about her. Something different compared to the others, she hadn't tried to jump past sawa to just meet Midori. A princess befriending you even for a little while could do a lot to your family. Instead she had stayed here and had stayed at least for the time with being Sawa's friend. It made her happier then she wanted to admit and being in the dorms she had heard some other music being played into the night.

Dreams and tales of others, the seventy three yovshin who fled the Imperial city under the jade empress. Choosing to desert and among them one of her ancestors. She knew them well as there were just as many tales of her house within Atrisian lore. Large families could do that as uncles and aunts moved out of the main house. Fleeing to Bei Xi, the ancient stronghold and house of Atrisia located on an island. THey had sought refuge with one of the few houses able to oppose the empress and her armies..... but Matsudairia was loyal to the empress, he ordered them sadly with his own son taken back in chains to the Imperial court and they were....

What was it, the legend had grown.... they were encased in the walls of the city... at Jar'kai. The yovshin sentinels, seventy four because while he was infirm and unable to fight after so many years. her ancestor had been taken. A request for his decades of noble service to the Empress.... he wished to share his watch. Share in his sons duties as he was put at the center of them all. Encased in stone and ice as a legendary figure of honor and dedication even over family. Sawa raised her eyes to look up as that whey had here. Turning over more of it in her mind when she could see the wood high above the room.

"Moring sleepy head." The sounds of the roid near her and Ami as the woman leaned over ruffling her hair was something she could do. Standing up out of the bed in her night clothing. Silk shirt and pants with small slipers. THey clung to her fet when she exited the room and went to the refresher in the dorms. Seeing soem fo the others as she got to see another. THe dignitary who had come to join them, a darker skinned man who proved to be invaluable at court in some ways. His sister had come here, she was young enough to be considered a tranfer and it seemed like it would be only polite as Sawa bowed.

"Himiko chan." Himiko was a woman in her early twenties, Buxom and beautiful, with olive skin, large dark eyes and long, thick black hair that fells in ringlets to the middle of her back. She had full lips, a husky voice and facial tattoos much like her brother. She had been after Sawa as it were, rumors that to solidify an alliance between their worlds her brother had asked for a bride while a husband be given to his sister. A means to make sure their two houses, their two planets could be bound by blood. Though Himiko as she said favored her mother in that she was short, standing at five foot two and would conceal her lush and curvaceous body with flowing silks, jewels, and other ostentatious displays of wealth.

Sawa could see more of her and in the morning she was somewhat one for modesty, wearing at least underwear with her hair covering the rest of her as it cascaded down her back and front. Framing her shoulders like a cloak. She hugged Sawa. "Little sister." Learning something.. somewhat... she had heard Midori call her that and Oyuki.... as well as Ami in joking but believed that was what she had been given as a nickname. Her arms wraping around Sawa and she kissed her cheeks. "You look beautiful this morning and I am happy to say that I have heard from my brother. There are rumors the Emperor has thought of someone who might be my husband."

"That is exciting news." Sawa was hapy for her, despite some things really the girl wanted to do what was best for her family and for her brother. WIlling to accept Atrisian union while most of her people were against it... THey had in some cases remained unbent and unbroken to most. Being close to Atrisia and one fo the worlds the Emperors and Empresses of the past could not overtake with force of arms. Instead the Emperor had decided to wed and unite the planets. A means to strengthening his position and the Atrisian Empire that stretched to some of the far flung colony worlds they could find and have united with them.

Sawa bowed to her friend, the woman was beautiful and if she was going to have a husband then... wel she was hapy for her. While Sawa was heading out with a wider grin on her face. Wanting to see all of it here. She could see the school and while the others were getting dressed for the opening announcements. Sawa brushed her teeth, seeing the astromech droid come in as she spoke. "K1 what are you doing here?" She was wondering when the droid looked at her and bounced from side to side before activating a hologram of her mother. "Sawa, if you are seeing this then it means you are alone. I need to tel you a few things."

Sawa looked at her mother and she was taking a look of serious note. you needed to know how she looked, how she had built herself up as an investigator. "There are things happening, in the south the Battle for Dawn Fortress is starting by the time you see this. I do not know what will happen but I do know this, the ones attacking are undisciplined and dangerous more so then cunning. Wearing false flags of several houses instead of a united front. It gives away their plans but it is trying to incite the emperor to initiate his final solution. The school we sent you to is a dangerous place for those who are unaware."

Sawa was listening and she had heard the rumors themselves about the place. That is was a prison of sorts for them to keep the families loyal. There was also more... rumors that it was also a way to ensure indoctrination and that future generations would be in service to the emperor. Her mother was skilled, smart and could be seen as dangerous but she had no ambition to usurp. "There won't be much but you will have to rely on your wits and we shall send one of our Yovshin to help you." Getting a smile on her face even with the aurodium mask, something that had been crafted at the emperors request for her years of service.

Sawa could look over a few of the other things though when she finished getting dressed. Sawa stood on the platform looking over at it, looking over towards the different students and she could see Ni-Ne with a smile forming on her face. She remained where she was walking around and checking out everything that they would be doing. She clasped her hands behind her back seeing Midori trying to entice her over with her uniform intentionally misaligned. Sawa gave her a frown and knew better today at least straightening it for her. THe head prefect looked over to a few more students fixing them up while she breathed out.

The sound of the announcements finishing up came as she went to class. Getting a small cup of tea she could drink in class when opening an area at her table. She offered a smile for Ni-Ne tto sit and listen to the lessons going on. THey were discussing Uueg Tching the emperor of Atrisia and his saying. Something the nobility like them were able to be privy too. Sawa held her tea cup as she was making notes and to herself she was taking the time to study the phrase when the teacher was speaking to look at them. The teacher though was an older man, a nobel she knew who was very skilled and renowned for his academic achievements.

"There are three ways to defeat your enemy. The first, and most obvious, is to better him in a trial of force. The best way is to have him destroy himself…The middle way is to destroy your enemy from within. Judicious application of the middle way shall make your blows more effective if you later take the way of force. From the middle way it is also possible to push your enemy onto the path of self-destruction." He stood there looking at all of the students when he spoke. "Now what can you say of this saying from the ancient Emperor class?" He was looking at each of them and wasn't looking at Sawa he never needed to call on her.

That was helpful in many cases as the two of them had usually had an understanding. She took all fo the notes, passed all of the tests and answered more then enough questions. He would usually try to get the other students to answer and learn something. He was asking each of them and few had any real... answers. Instead they seemed to try and make jokes but no one found them funny and he was having them go through drills. Those who failed to answer at least. Sawa was in the class with one or two having tea with the teacher when she bowed her head. "THank you Kahoshi Sensai." She smiled though and clases were over for now there was a smal break period.

"Ni-Ne are you hungry?" She asked it looking at the girl and standing up while she looked to see some of the classroom. The head prefect wanted to see what they could do or what they could get into as she walked towards the trees and K1 was there waiting for her as the black and gold astromech droid looked at her whooping. "Yes yes thank you, this is my friend Ni-Ne. Add her to your memory banks as a friend please." The droid beeped and booped with a look at Ni-Ne before it was moving around and leading the way towards the path to head anywhere. Sawa looked towards Ni-Ne and spoke. "So where do you think we should go?"

Sawa was paying attention to Ni-Ne while she walked with the droid following behind them a warmth was in her cheeks... this was better then she could have expected it to be... more so she was all wanting to see show off for Ni-Ne more of the school itself. From the expansive watergarden's below there was beauty but here in the higher points there was other things. More interesting as the path wound into a grove with stones and crystals that had been found. Ancient things, huge in scale surround weapons. "The garden, kind of at least that is what it is called. A remnant from the jade empresses conquest long ago. The weapons of those who swore her service."

Sawa said it and she was a student of history... atrisian history but also some of the galaxy they were a part of. She would want to know all about it, she wanted to see a few other parts of it. The encased weapons were in the hundreds, areas of the ancient kingdom... Stories of legendary beings as Sawa spoke standing in front of one of the swords. It was smaller, a tanto that would have been paired with a larger blade. She knew where that larger blade was located. "Shōjō the blade of Bei Xi." She had a look on her face. "Well one of them, there were two swords, Shōjō and Wusashi. My families swords. When the Empress was calling for fealty after killing her brother. she took the blade even though we had been loyal for thousands of years."

Sawa looked over at the stone though and she had a smile on her face thinking about it. The head prefect looked at a few parts of it. Looking at Ni-Ne though she crossed her arms across her chest. Breathing in and out a little until she looked to see some other parts. The ancient seat of it. From the emperors court it had been taken. A massive skull from a creature that was once thought dangerous. her body lined up with one of its teeth from the lower jaw and it was smaller then the rest of them. She stood near its mouth leaning against it as the droid moved around. "I never did get to ask you about yourself... well more about yourself."

Sawa wanted to know everything, she wanted to really become friends with this woman. She wanted to hang out with her and learning how to best understand her, to do her homework so she couldn't make a mistake and look like a dork. "I.... I want to be able to hang out with you and not look like the fool. I know Midori can be bad at times but she means well to some things." A smile was on her face before pushing her thoughts out to the others here. She thought about all of her friends as on the wind it seemed like she could hear the voices of singers on the wind. Legendary beings that she knew couldn't really be real.

Other parts of the garden appeared though a black and blue tree, the bark was ancient, like a marble or stone instead of wood. ANcient, gnarled roots that went deep into the earth. The tree though looked different with a carved face into it. Mouth open, blue streaks from the eyes that was sap and looked like tears. The leaves were a brightly dark blue that looked ethereal. "It was said in ancient times, before the ancestors recorded their histories on paper. They carved it into the faces of the trees. Drinking the sap and leaves to form a tonic to see the future." Sawa offered a hand. "I always found it strange how some of the older stories changes with each telling."

She looked at Ni-Ne though before peering around with them alone now. "So yesterday... I ah... I didn't get a chance to tell you how much I was enjoying it. FOr whatever that is worth, I know I am just a silly girl and what I want doesn't mean much to someone as talented as you. I am just meant to be a piece for my family. Married off to someone that is of political strength to ensure that we continue to last. I will have children and slowly drift away into the flow of time." She said it and thinking about it when she looked at the more tie consuming parts of it. She doubted she would know what to do if she had a chance to live longer then a single lifetime.

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne, after being led to her dorm, looked past its facade. She was starting to get a better idea of where the security systems were held.

The whole time she was led to her spacious room, her private room, it turned out--Shimada still had enough pull to ensure that much--she was struggling not to panic. Oh, they had built this place well. Very well. Regular patrols. Tower Snipers...the works.

Any ordinary person trying to break out of this did not stand a chance.

Ni-Ne was Shimada's daughter, though, and Shimada had brought up his children to be exceptional, not ordinary.

The room was bare walls, a few silk paintings, and polished wood floors. And her grandfather clock. The golden hued object, shined, precise weights and gears, some of the finer mechanicals excentric in shape, gently ticking. Ni-Ne made as little sound as possible. She didn't trust the walls not to be bugged. She quickly went over, inspected the case, twisted a knob...

And a little, expertly hidden hatch on the side slid open. Ni-Ne knealt down, picked up the letter, sealed with the snarling image of a tiger in blood-colored wax. She broke it. Opened the letter, read it, and felt her mouth taste like bile, her stomach getting the cold ache of dread. She tried to control her breathing. She did not succeed.

Dearest Daughter,

I must first beg your forgiveness for what I must impose upon you. I have no other choice.

You are my daughter and I love you. I have never said this before, but of all my children...you were my favorite. Part of me screamed to let you join your brothers in war. That you might be bloodied, like your father before you. Like my father before me. I did not. I did not know why for a long time, giving you the skills, but not the rank, nor the recognition as a warrior, but the thought of watching your innocence die...I could not bear it.

And now, the time has come that I fear I must at last force you on the path of blood, like the Li-Ves of old. And I do not know if you can survive, or even succeed.

But in you, I saw the potential for the very greatest of warriors. Even your own brothers suspected your skill would one day be more than a match for theirs. But they too were altered by your existence, and could not bear to lose you to battle any more than I could.

I must task you with your first, and perhaps only, test as a Warrior of the Clan.

Kagamiri Academy is the most secure complex on Atrisia. No one has ever escaped from it or left without the Emperor's explicit blessing. You must be that exception.

But your primary objective is to breach its secured records devision. Kagamiri is considered so secure the Emperor conceals high value military documents within that office. I do not know its layout or level of resistance but expect security to be extreme.

You are to steal the access codes to the Sacred Ancestor, your mothers Command Ship. A ping was detected by a Republic scout ship coming from the Unknown Regions.

You are then to board the vessel once it arrives and then destroy by any means necessary. All of Atrisia will be in danger if you do not. You have an estimated month before it arrives.

In even reading this letter you are commiting an act of treason by not immediately reporting its contents. If the nature of your objective is discovered, you will likely be executed without trial.

But know this, my daughter. Even if you succeed, the Li-Ves will be finished as a family on Atrisia. You may have to flee your homeworld and never look upon it again for as long as you live. Or you may die horribly still, even if you succeed.

I wish there was someone else I could send. But there is no one else. No one I trust as much as you.

This will be the last time I ever interact with you.

You are the apple of my eye. And I placed all my hopes for the future of the house on you. But fate has decreed otherwise. I hope you survive, Ni-Ne. But if you do not, you will not be alone in the afterlife for long.

Burn this letter immediately after reading.

Your father, Shimada.

Ni-Ne trembling at the way her families ruin was being spelled out for her, let a little of her spit touch the wax, which instantly set the whole letter ablaze, vaporizing with nothing but small white smoke. Special wax mixture. Great for destroying evidence.

Meanwhile...

"So let me get this straight, Shimada." Albrecht Bo muttered in growing worry, having been provided a large cushion with which he sat cross-legged in front of Shimada's throne. "You sent your only remaining child on a mission into the most fortified complex on your world...a place where the Emperor would have been loathed to part with even one of its inhabitants had I not managed to demonstrate irrefutable proof of their connection to the Force--because you think a warship that was lost to the Unknown Regions years ago is on a course for here? To do what?" The Jedi Master asked.

"It is a warship. It will be here to do what Warships are for."

"Warships always gotta get their war on." Albrecht joked darkly.

"You may not be laughing once its in orbit, Bo."

"Who's in control of it?"

"Ni-Ne's mother, Oh-Cho."

"Must have been something if you never remarried."

"I had forgotten how irritatingly flippant you could be."

Albrecht stared up at him. "Is she still alive?"

"Yes. And so is whatever is on that ship."

"How do you know she is still alive.

Shimada explained it to him. Albrecht's weathered face drew into a frown.

"Does Ni-Ne know?"

Shimada's head hung low under his magnificent hood in shame.

"Not yet."

"Thats assuming she survives." Bo added. "And how do I factor in?"

"Get her off Atrisia. Ni-Ne can wield Jedi Magic.

Albrecht stopped cold. That was what he had felt within. A sleeping tiger as he passed the quiet innocent.

He sipped more tea, poured for him by one of Shimada's men, clad in all crimson Ashigaru armor, his face covered by a ceremonial red and black striped tiger mask.

"She's going to be messed up if she lives. You know that right? How did you first become aware of her connection to the Force?"

She has always ran faster, jumped higher, exhibited curious bouts of improbable strength. Her mother was the same." Shimada explained. "And I had seen you exhibit both many times when you tried to kill me."

"Zonju was 'your' fault." Bo remarked mildly, draining his cup.

"My third son would have punched you by now."

"Well, he's not around is he?" Bo shot back acidly.

There was silence between the two old enemies for a moment. Albrecht sighed.

"Forgive me, Shimada, that was rude, even for me."

Shimada waved off the three guards about to run Bo through from behind. They vanished into the shadows as silently as they had emerged.

"Why can't you petition the Emperor?" The Jedi asked.

"My failing health is no secret. I was barely able to get Ni-Ne a private room. No one would believe the possibly delerius dying man. Plus, the Emperor thinks it was just an anomaly--he cannot afford to re-open a wound on a ship whose loss humiliated him.

Albrecht frowned.

"Tell me more..."

The next day.

Nine felt sick, could not eat, could not get any real sleep. It was not until Sawa asked if she was hungry that it registered she was starving.

"Yes, I am," she said quietly, managing a smile for Sawa. She followed her, smiling as she ran across a droid. Droids were rather a rare sight. Peasantry could not even think of affording them. She was instantly fascinated and more than a little flattered when Sawa had her added as a friend. She followed Sawa to a magnificent garden of weapons and a gigantic skull. It took her breath, in spite of knowing it was there to distract. Then Sawa wanted to know more about her.

"I wanted to join the Yovshin. My father forbade it. Not because he wanted me married off. He and my brothers just didn't want to lose me. They sort of succeeded. Sort of. I studied insects, history, geology. Diseases." She left out all the close combat training. She tried not to frown as Sawa mentioned Midori again, as well as openly lamented her own possible future. Ni-Ne, in spite of being pre-occupied with her troubles, clasped a hand on Sawa's shoulder.

"You're a beautiful and talented woman Sawa. You can be anything but a playing piece. And the friendship of someone like you means a lot." she said with sincerity. "But my family has a saying: Always learn to turn the inconveniences others impose into advatages for yourself. Than everyone else is the playing piece. And you will be the player. But it all starts with having the will to be the player instead of the piece. And I think you have that will.

Ni-Ne watched as Midori and Akiko approached. Akiko gave her that same perverted I-know-something-you-don't smile. And Ni-Ne again backed off instinctively, but wordlessly. She bowed but only slightly, just enough so Midori could not say she had been disrespectful.

"Princess Midori. A pleasure. I am Ni-Ne Li-Ves, daughter of Shimada Li-Ves. How are you this fine day?" Ni-Ne asked, eyes darting for a split second to Akiko.

Sawa felt the hand on her shoulder and it was more reassuring then she had been expecting. THought of it as she breathed in the moment, allowed herself to feel something before seeing Midori who was coming to join them. Akiko was prepared for a fight as always and the princess seemed pleased with Ni-Ne's words. "Ah Nine Lives... how adorable." Midori didn't look entirely sinister though she came over and Sawa could feel a hand touching her face, tilting her head up as she looked up at MIdori whose face was filling her field of vision. The taste of fruit was there. The tanginess, the sweetness and everything as Midori kissed her.

Saw closed her eyes on instinct but her other hand went to her shoulder, across her chest as she touched Ni-Ne's hand when she felt Midori pulling away from her. A smile on her face but she looked more proud and standing there as she looked around. "Hmmm well you ceetainaly dont seem to have been ruined my sweet. I hope this cat hasn't shed on you yet." She looked from Sawa towards Ni-Ne though and waited a moment stepping back. "My day has been going well Nine Lives, I received word from my father a secret but since you seem to be such good friends with my Sawa... oh I can't handle the suspense."

Sawa looked at her then turned her head to look at Ni-Ne but flicked her eyes back. "Oh I shouldn't but it is too delicious. Your mothers ship, the one lost that brought shame to your father and family. THe Republic detected it and it is coming back, no word on who is there but o imagine the shame of returning to the palace, to your home when death wouldn't even take you for failing in your duty." She seemed to be enjoying it with a laugh. "My father said even if they have a reason, he cannot allow them to live. The entire crew will be required to preform seppuku to at least save some of their honor to keep their families from sharing this fate."

Sawa was looking at Midori who seemed proud of herself but she had to stop now... she didn't know what Ni-Ne might do or say but she rose up getting a reaction from Akiko who moved forward with a hand on her swords hilt. "That is enough Midori, leave her be." What fierceness she had soon ebbed away when she was standing there with a look on her face. Midori seemed suprrised but kept her smile on her face... but she had sen it. She knew she had seen it before Midori came at her again hand on her jaw and squeezing. "What.... you would challenge me Sawa?" She wasn't mad but she was angry and you could feel that heat radiating off of her.

"I will not stand for this, I wanted you to be mine but if you are going to roll around with this low class wretch then I cannot have you sully my name or my bed. You are dismissed from your duties as my handmaiden at court. I'll inform my father and your shame for losing this position will break his heart." Sawa was looking at her as she felt a nail digging into her face and then was being flung to the side kind of. More push so she was close to Ni-Ne and stopped there. Holding herself up with her head near the crook of her neck, arms to either side of her and she could fel her heart beating. Slow and careful, more steady then her rapidly beating heart.

"There just where you two belong, I had thought to keep you with me, to have you be mine when I am empress. I would have done so much for you but you reject me, hang and even defend a family that is almost gone. Once her father dies and she is married off to some house to some lesser lord her family will not be around." Midori stood there before turning around. "THis isn't over Sawa, I will have you even if I have to force you." Sawa waited until she was gone and was looking at Ni-Ne with a look on her face. Sawa rose up a little but she was looking at Ni-Ne and stayed there for a time.. she didn't know what she was going to do but she felt something.

Warmth and salt, a little taste of copper where she looked and her vision was a little blurry... thoughts of what was being said though when she wondered how best to speak to Ni-Ne. "I... I..." She moved forward and just collapsed her head into her shoulder. Burying her face in the skin while rubbing her eyes and wrapping her arms around her. "I dind't mean it." Sawa remained there and just titled her head up when she felt her lips graze the girls neck. Kissing for a moment and some fo the tears she had shed were there. The taste of salt and warmth was strange at first. The feeling that all she wanted to do was hold her.

Meanwhile Unaga was standing there, looking around from the battlements of Dawn's fortress as she walked with one of her yovshin generals. "Sosokan-Sama we have managed to route them and finish off the imposters." SHe gave a nod of her head with a look on her face here. "Good, what have we learned?" As she was speaking and waiting for the answer something happened, silver armored soldiers were pouring out of the FOrtresses lower levels. "Where did...." THe sealed sections, they had been told the fortress was sealed in the lower levels for safety and to keep creatures out but they were coming as she saw it.

THey were coming out of the lower levels and she was prepared for a fight. Her hand going to her blade when the woman's eyes narrowed at the first one who had rushed her. His move was clumsy.... attacking fast and swiftly yes but he was also not taking a stance before she ducked down and her blade drew out. Slashing into the belly of the armor when she felt that resistance and then give. The grunt of pain while she spun around sheathing the sword and once the hilt touched the sheath he fell over. "It is a trap, yovshin form up and defensive positions. Do not give them any ground." She was watching the others come into view but this wasn't what she had been expecting.

Across the planet Jiyoen brought the coat up to cover her face as she and observed the prison. Even in ther weather she needed the mask over her face because her eyes would freeze without them. The current temperature was about fifty degrees below freezing, with winds about thirty klicks an hour. At least it wasn't snowing right now though. Still, Jiyoen didn't like the freezing cold conditions one bit. The danger that had been coming, the news of attacks by bandits and organized rebels. It was unsettling and while Sawa had been given a position at court she had as the second sister been given a chance to prove herself.

She was wearing heavy cold-weather gear under her yovshin armor from head to toe. It was white and light-gray to blend in with the snow and ice on the ground. her hood even had thick masking for her face. The gear was supposed to be rated to over seventy degrees below freezing, and wind over fifty klicks an hour. In spite of the rating, Jiyoen's hands were freezing even with the gloves on, and the rest of her wasn't much better. She could just barely grip her swords, just barely see a few feet in front of her when they were going snow blind. She sneered a little internally to herself though. These beings were different who helped the Yovshin today.

The reason she was observing the prison was that the Tiantai slime were holding about two thousand prisoners there. The scarheads slavers weren't expected to pick them up for several more days. Offworlders coming to take the destitute fromt he siums of the Imperial and other cities around Atrisia. With a small window to act, Jiyoen, along with twenty-four Yovshin and 5 jedi on loan from the Republic, had been sent to free them and she clenched her fist. It was her chance to prove herself.. to prove that she could bring as much honor to her family as her ancestor she was named ofter. Who bested one of the emperors favorites at a tournament when she was just able to hold a sword. A prodigy.

I had to notice that Tiantai apprentice in the cantina of the Night Fortress, Jiyoen thought as she shivered in the cold but a smile was on her face. Under all the cold she was free, somewhat. The yovshin had given her a chance a task and way to advance, the Republic was a welcomed thing on Atrisia mostly because it meant there was far more out there beyond the stars and it had allowed them not to slip into obscurity. She had been healing from practice still but had authority needed from Jar'Kai and from the emperor. With the attack on The High FOrtress and its fall she had chosen to lead here while the seniors were planning how to retake it.

"I hear that about a thousand klicks north of here the temperature is all the way up to freezing," Lieutenant Akio-Sama said cheerfully from the snow next to him. She practically had to shout to be heard over the wind but it was a fun sentiment and for a moment the Yovshin apprentice pinged with envy.... Freezing sounded enjoyable compared to the jokes that he might make. She rolled her eyes eventually though when she thought about what was coming and mentally was looking to prepare herself. Her mother had been careful but their father was doing a great deal out there to prove himself to the emperor with another plan.

Jiyoen lowered the mask just a bit and felt the wind biting into her face there were legends of the wind being able to scar your face as much as any blade and with her pale complexion she was not looking to test that theory. "More like three thousand," She responded gloomily. "And the wind would still be blowing forty klicks an hour," She added as she shivered slightly from the cold again. "Now we have to get in there and out hopefully without to much trouble." She was chuckling a little more, inside she might be able to shed a layer or two and let her body heat warm herself more to fight. SHe would also be able to move swiftly at least.

The Tiantai had been easy enough to notice. The rest of the cantina's patrons were a depressed lot of sentients, no doubt from HoloNews showing the destruction that came with an actual galaxy, New Orders, new governments being brougth into the republic and empire and other groups tearing their way across the galaxy had sown. The skinny, forty something year old male human however, seemed quite content with the state of affairs. The contrast was easy to pick up with the Force for the jedi but for her it had been that he bought a round and spoke about some real credits to be made with these new changes.

At first Jiyoen had just wanted to wipe the carefully guarded but smug grin right off his face. She voiced her plans to her companions, three humans and a Noghri from the jedi order, just in case they wanted to help out. Then Lieutenant Akio-Sama had to suggest that the slime might be of the Tiantai, and therefore might have some intelligence. Military, at least but he could also be providing them information about their movements or their location within the polar regions of Atrisia. Getting a chance to try out some fo the new equipment that the jedi and republic had brought for the military units and yovshin to test out.

Or better yet things that could be given and used for aiding the Republic, helping the people or useful enough to the emperor's plans that they could get an upper hand to protect the galaxy from threats both foreign and domestic, The horde of bandits her mother had said was out there attacking villagers and Crusade like forces that had come from the stars closing in. So instead of breaking a few of his bones in a cantina fight, she had lured him outside by wherpering to him sweet nothings. He was more then hapy to come with her and she did look provocative compared to some fo the others. Still lithe and refined over muslced and serious.

It had been easy to sneak up on him and plant the idea there was a better party outside.. Then she and her friends hauled him off to a more secure area, and found out if she knew anything. Between a growling Noghri flashing her claws at him on one side, and Jiyoen pretending to be friendly from the other, he was spilling his guts in no time. THey barely had to threaten him which was kind of ah... disappointing to say the least. She had thought he would have been taught to avoid and resist interrorgation.. or something. The yovshin was prepared until he just opened up and was giving them everything they wanted and more.

It turned out that the frakkin' scum regularly delivered supplies to a Tiantai secured prison. He had just made a run, and they had about two thousand Jar'kai citizens from the outer villages and provinces. Naturally, since she reported the details of the operation to the Republic and yovshin command stationed in the region, they tasked her with the mission as small as it was. Her father was proud she had gotten an assignment though and said this was her chance to prove she was special and a cut above the others. He would have offered more advice but he was needed in his duties advising the emperor.

Luckily the fellow had told them that the prison had very little defenses, and less than fifty guards as well as a sub basement just above a large cavern that no one used because of the dangerous creatures. The prison was just a few buildings above ground slightly scattered with two basement levels. One was a command center, with an observation post above it, and a HoloNet communications antenna on top of that. They had been busy, the Republic had only just started coming to Atrisia, started to really share with them and expand within the Empire so she was impressed and could admit what a boon this would be for them to take.

The observation post was perhaps five meters above the command center, and the comm antenna ten meters above that. She mused it might be like the pit but no where near as effective. At least in some terms a prison in a frozen wasteland was still effective wherever you had it. Sneaking up in their weather gear would be a thing though, she was looking at the dangerous parts of it. Interest on her mind, interest it a few parts with the other yovshin and these... these jedi. She was not certain about them in the long run but she would hopefuly be able to use what knowledge her family had of the Je'daii when Unaga was taken by the flying temple.

The second, and largest, building was barracks for off-duty guards, and storage. The third building was access to the prisoners, who were kept below ground, in twenty hundred-person units and there there was the small landing pad she would call in reinforcements when they were needed. The Yovshin apprentice looked at her small team and focused on the area around them and moving carefully to not disturb the snow. A blizzard was going to be kicking up soon if they were unlucky and somehow... someway it would end up only getting colder. If that was even possible and she didn't want to do it or risk it.

There were supposed to be eight-to-ten guards in the command center, plus four more in the observation post. The guards rarely went into the prisoner areas, and never patrolled outside. They delivered food to the prison, and the prisoners took care of themselves. The main security feature was the deadly cold, along with the fact that none of the prisoners had any sort of footwear, and only minimal clothing. That would go a long way in the end towards keeping them in line since they would stay together huddled up sharing body heat or protecting the others. Some of the dangers the prisoners might face would prove worse.

If they escaped, they would die from the cold in a matter of minutes. Anytime the the doors to the prison area were opened, the command center and barracks blast doors were closed. If the prisoners caused problems, then their unit could be opened to the elements as well. Or they could be sent down into the cavern underneath and left to die from whatever lurked in there. She had heard some rumors about that as well and didn't want to risk them being sent in there. She didn't want to get her men or these jedi who were with them but they insisted that there were currents within the force under there in the caverns.

After observing the prison a bit, Jiyoen and her men decided on sending a small team in to take out the four guards in the observation post, and the HoloNet antenna. Then the other team would storm the command center. Between the two teams they would also keep the rest of the guards pinned inside the barracks if necessary. The Yovshin apprentice had a face though while she looked at the others there. "Alright we know the plan, we have an idea of the stakes. We've also heard the rumors that attacks are happening across Atrisia. I am not going to claim that noting is happening but we do not know all of the facts just yet."

Then Jiyoen took a deep, frosty breath and reached out with the energy built from her own anticipation. None of the guards in the observation post seemed to be looking their way. In fact, they didn't seem to be too alert at all. She continued to reach out and with her senses focused on herself and the people with her, trying, straining to make it to cover all of the way as they went quickly across the snow. Stopping just enough to reorient herself, to look at more guards where they should be. Head on a swivel in case someone decided to actually look outside and observe the group that was moving towards them.

She nodded towards Lieutenant Akio-Sama, then climbed to her feet, and began slowly moving forward in a crouch through the deep snow with her six men. They were moving into position to attack the observation post. Lieutenant Akio-Sama's team of a dozen would be following them, to hit the command center, and hold the barracks. She made careful movements like a hunter stalking with barely a crunch underfoot. The tension in her jaw as she felt her teeth grinding the feeling in her legs as her muscles strained with the motions. She wasn't tired but the adrenaline needed to go somewhere and she had it from her heart pounding.

A two person sniper and observation team was a little over three hundred meters away. Further out were two more pairs of troopers, with each pair manning a rocket launcher, and also acting as observers. The forms of each of them in the force came to him while she expanded her field of view to cover all of them. Rifle coming up and firing with silencers and a resolve to not fail her men. She felt that first burst of energy from the attack, that rush not at killing but being able to have the action and excitement. Instead of just waiting and observing, of preparing her mind and body for what would be a dangerous fight she might not come back from.

It was a lot for him to handle, but fortunately Lieutenant Akio-Sama was happy to help him out. The Noghri mostly needed everyone to stay out of their way. Jiyoen had almost sent them ahead on their own, but the Force that they used she didn't really know how to factor it and and it told her to go with them instead of Lieutenant Akio-Sama's team. There was something else here buried below the surface and while the prisoners were a priority she suspected they might end up going into those caverns later. It was a hard to explain feeling to her but in her gut or in her head.. or wherever the feeling came from.

Nearly ten minutes later Jiyoen and her team were in position. She gave her comlink a quick double tap to alert Lieutenant Akio-Sama. She received a single beep of acknowledgment, which she responded to with another tap of her comlink. Since Lieutenant Akio-Sama's team consisted of nine Humans, a Wookiee, a Devaronian, and another Twi'lek, they couldn't move quite as fast as six Noghri jedi and a yovshin apprentice. Even with the gear on she moved with speed. Eyes going around to check out some parts of it and her equipment gave her a chance to resist the cold thankfully.

When Lieutenant Akio-Sama finally alerted Jiyoen that his team was ready, she immediately signaled the Noghri attack, and dashed forward the last dozen meters. Pulling a stun blade out that would be able to knock out or kill with enough force. her touch on the trigger was more then enough to cover the fast moving Noghri as they got into position. She watched it and if they were using the force to increase their speed then this was going to be something she would want to try and learn about. SHe wssn't looking to let it well... control or improve her. It was something that could make her stronger. Ideas about what she could feel as well was there.

With the knee-deep snow pressing in on her lower legs and feet, Jiyoen wasn't quite able to leap onto the roof of the command center. She was able to get high enough to pull herself up though. Three of the Noghri stopped at the base of the wall, and propelled their comrades up. Then the second three quickly reached down and helped pull the first three up. It was a practiced movement they had all done a million times and she remained still almost not breathing until she stood like a statue. Her breathing shallow, her heart almost still and body tense. Micro movements were all there was before she looked.

While the Noghri were climbing up, Jiyoen reached out with the senses and made sure the guards in the observation post above her hadn't noticed them. They still didn't seem to be paying much attention to anything and were playing cards. That was a good thing compared to some and she was more then happy to take advantage. She could feel the other men moving about the place while the muted scents in the air came to her. Machine oils and fuel for keeping the heat going along with the scent of sweat and musk. That familiar scent of oil for the blades and the whetstones was nothing something she was keen to forget.

The most important thing was to make sure they didn't get a distress call off. The problem was, Jiyoen didn't know if the observation post could send one, or just the command center. That meant they had to take out the four Tianttai mmbers in the observation post before they had a chance, just to be sure. She mentally prepared for the two possibilities, one of them calling in reinforcements and possibly killing the prisoners and two for them to succeed and keeping them under wraps until a check in failed. THe check in was something they hadn't had time to really check as the communications were more focused to the area.

Jiyoen and her twenty-four special-operation yovshin and jedi had arrived in system in an old converted passenger liner. It could easily hold twenty-five-hundred passengers. It couldn't land on the iceball though. They had two smaller transports that would ferry the prisoners to the passenger liner. One could carry close to two hundred people. Jiyoen and her team had landed in a second transport that could carry up to forty people. The passenger liner and larger transport were hiding behind a moon three planets out. It was all waiting for them to provide communications to alert them to start coming it but they would have to balance stopping communications and using them.

A few moments later, one of the Noghri was on the ladder, her hands on the hatch leading into the observation post. Jiyoen was hanging off the side next to him. The hatch was locked, but it only had basic security. The Noghri had it unlocked in seconds. She glanced over to him, and Jiyoen nodded her head in approval. Then the Yovshin apprentice focused on the wall when she was letting herself be open to it... checking on the sensors for her armor and scanning devices. Her hand grazing the pommel of her blade, her rifle and back up combat knife. She continued to mentally prepare herself to try and be ready.

As she opened the hatch Jiyoen squatted on the ladder in preparation. She had her blaster carbine in one hand and across her chest for the noghri, attached to her combat vest with a pair of straps. The carbine was specially modified so a plasma cutter could be attached to the underside of the barrel, as a bayonet. There was a switch just above the trigger that would ignite the torch. The moment the hatch was open, she leapt up and through it, igniting her plasma as she did and tossing the carbine to the noghri. They were prepared and moving in themselves quick, silent and she though if she blinked she might miss them.

The four guards must have thought they were receiving visitors or something. They stared at her dumbly as she slashed the nearest one across her midsection with her jar'kai blades. The other three Tiantai guards eyes went wide with shock as the shots rang out from the noghri into the second one, then Jiyoen stabbed a third one in the heart. Before she could take out the fourth one, she dropped out of her chair with a hole in her chest from a blaster fired by a second Noghri coming up through the hatch. With everythign that was happening here the yovshin apprentice was checking on the status of a few more things.

"Antenna!" Jiyoen shouted as she hauled the Noghri the rest of the way up through the hatch and shoved him aside. She quickly jumped back down onto the roof of the command center. Another Noghri had already found the communications cable. Jiyoen cut through it, and anything else that looked important. Then Jiyoen let out a sigh of relief. At least now the frakkin' Tiantai guards can't call for help. Now they had to get into the command center and handle it in this case. She mentally checked herself over with a few more things. Hands unconsciously patting herself. Flexing and testing the grip on her blades.

Jiyoen dropped back down onto the snowy ground, and was joined by the two demolitions troopers. They quickly began setting up their explosives on the command center's blast doors. The Yovshin apprentice while they set up was sensing and searching inside to feel where they might be while she moved about with a gron on her face and the silvery blue saber was activated. The blade blending in with the snowy ground as she slashed it across the surface of the snow. Turnign over with most of her attention and a grin on her face. She had plenty of ideas about what they might be able to do. Until then though she was look over at it.

A handful of seconds later, the bomb was ready. The two demolitions troopers announced it over the comlink as they stepped around to the side of the command center. Jiyoen glanced around to make sure everyone else was out of the way, then joined them. She could sense nine or ten people inside, but none of them were near the doors. They were definitely alert, but none of them seemed to be panicked. Maybe they didn't know they were being attacked. Her eyes widened as she was feeling it and realizing it... she hadn't just known they were there... she had felt it... she had seen it in her mind but that was impossible.

The bomb exploded five seconds later. Jiyoen and the two demolitions troopers went back to inspect the damage. There was a crater about thirty centimeters deep, and perhaps a meter across. The demolitions troopers quickly began setting up a bigger one. A smirk on her face while she went to try and obscure them but now there was no real use hiding. The prison was on alert but the communications were cut off as they moved about. She was letting herself sink into her instincts as the fighting spirit she felt was taking over... everything felt alive and that familiar tension to her muscles was back. That grip on her blades.

Jiyoen stepped over to check out the barracks' with the jedi having them use the force while reporting... and the people were stirring. The Tiantai soldiers had to notice a bomb going off on their command center. The ones in the barracks should be coming out to see what was going on—probably with blasters firing away. The other troopers moved into positions to best breach and defend while keeping an area of fire. She gripped her blade as it sung going through the air and slashing into the throat of another. Who had ben outside.. who had been having a moment of peace to himself before she ended his life. SHe would light a candle later.

The barracks doors remained closed though. Jiyoen was about to see how her demolitions troopers were doing when she saw the doors leading to the prisoners opening. Then she felt the prisoners inside start to get very worried. The small hers of the air rushing in to the sealed rooms and the senses of the prisoners changed. She didn't fully know what to do while she moved to check but stopped briefly to think.THere was so much going on but she couldn't lose herself... she couldn't fall into the trap that was battle excitement and lust. SHe needed to be smart... she needed to be focused and that would mean taking it carefully.

It took Jiyoen a moment to comprehend what was happening. The frakkin' Tiantai commanders are going to freeze the prisoners to death! Jiyoen muttered a curse and rushed back to the command center blast doors. The two demolitions troopers had the second—bigger—bomb set. Before they could ignite it though, Jiyoen's communications trooper commed him. She told him that someone inside the command center identifying herself as Captain Tangu was trying to talk to her. She also said that she was broadcasting over an open comlink, so they could all hear her. Jiyoen thanked her, took a quick breathed to calm herself and then switched comm channels.

"This is . . . This is Jiyoen Ike of the Yovshin Royal Guard," she said over the comlink. She bit back a few more choice words. She didn't identify herself as a rank among the Yovshin either. SHe could just be a faceless and rankless member of the royal guards of the emperor who enforced his will across the planer. They didn't need to know that right now. As she spoke, she reached out with the Force to get a feel for the people in the command center. They were mostly worried, and a little scared. None of them seemed to be on the verge of panicking though. That would have to change. She had the force... she needed to accept it.

"I'm Captain Tangu of the Tiantai Order," a human sounding voice replied. "I assume you're here to free the prisoners. They'll start freezing to death in about ten minutes. You can try and save them, or continue attacking us. If you do choose to continue ther attack, then I'll make sure as many of them die as possible." That did it and she regretted only one thing... that there was only one death for a being like this captain. Death was to good for her... hell an honorable death was to good for her. She would be cursed to roam the netherworld.. or given to a demon if she had her say about it. 'Just you wait.' She thought it for a moment.

Jiyoen could feel the Force as the jedi were using it to block the cold from the entrance to the prison, but she knew she couldn't keep her focus in place long enough while they tried to ferry all the prisoners to the passenger liner—especially if the rest of the Tiantai soldiers in the barracks chose to start fighting. She felt like she could get into command center in ten minutes. The problem was,.. Captain Tangu was very confident she could kill the majority of the prisoners. Jiyoen had come here to rescue them, not win a pointless battle against some Tiantai Order thugs. She had to listen to the jedi and Force for guidance.

"Then what will you tell your foreign clients or what will your masters say when you don't have their prisoners? They will not be happy that you killed them and let yourself live." Jiyoen asked with a small smirk on her face. That definitely caused a reaction. They were very concerned about what the scarheads would do to them if they didn't have two thousand prisoners for them. "We've got a supply ship due in the morning. We'll just hitch a ride, and disappear somewhere," Captain Tangu said confidently. THat got the Yovshin apprentice a little annoyed since she was wanting to complete the mission. Also the prospect of not being able to slap this one around was something she didn't want to ignore.

Jiyoen thought a moment. Admiral Palios had made it clear she had to either rescue the prisoners or scratch the mission as expeditiously as possible. There was no way she could still be here in the morning. She certainly didn't want to spend the night freezing her butt off. It was possible she could stay warm with one of the yovshin.. but well that wasn't exactly somthing to do all the time. Then a small smirk tugged at her lips. "Piloted by a skinny human," she replied. "About forty, blond hair? Goes by the name Koddy?" The name was someone they knew from intelligence reports but she had a description.. not the real person.

There was a noticeable pause over the comlink and the Yovshin apprentice knew she had struck something. "Yeah," Captain Tangu replied fearfully. Even though they were speaking over a comlink, and she was wearing a cold weather mask, Jiyoen flashed a predatory smile, she had something now to push at and while time was ticking on the prisoners her hands motioned, her stance going very still. She went back to that tension but was allowing her bloodlust to finish this dishonorable woman.. she wanted to do more.. to smash her but she would just settle for this. She would serttle for stilling her heart and making it like crystaal steel.

"Koddy ain't coming in the morning, Captain. We've got him locked up," She told him and had a smirk on her face that tugged, pulled to be showing as humor. They needed to act fast for the prisoners but savoring ther from the man would be what would help."Ronko shavit," Captain Tangu responded in denial. Jiyoen chuckled. "How do you think we found out about this place?" She asked. There was so much going on that the atrisian gleamed internally feeling the force itself now. Being around the jedi and seeing them use it.. seeing them make it a reality she was starting to understand what could become a great part of Atrisian culture.

There was another noticeable silence over the comlink. Jiyoen could sense the Tiantai Commanderss' dread as the realization sunk in. "Frakk," Captain Tangu finally replied in dismay. Jiyoen waited several seconds before replying. "There's only one ship leaving this rock before the rest of the Yovshin show up with the assault corp." She wasn't sure exactly when that would be, but since the prison was at capacity, she didn't think it would be very long. "If you surrender, I'll allow you to be on it." She said it and it was a lie... she was honorable but she was also not one to try and give a chance like this to one as dishonorable as her.

Once again there was several seconds of silence over the comlink. "We surrender," Captain Tangu finally responded. "Good," Jiyoen replied quickly. "Open the blast doors of the command center only," She instructed her. Then everyone will walk out single file." "Yes Lady Ike," she answered dejectedly. "I guess it is true isn't it, the dragons of Atrisia.. the loyal servants of the Emperor. House Ike is everywhere but I do have to wonder what it would have been like to fight you just this once. I would have preferred to face you in combat." She said it and while sounding almost amused Jiyoen remained quiet for the moment.

Jiyoen quickly switched comm channels and instructed Lieutenant Akio-Sama's team to stay in position, covering the barracks. Then she told four of her Noghri to get ready to go into the command center with him. She wasn't about to give the Tiantai soldiers or commanders a chance to surprise her. She told the other two, and the two demolitions troopers, to handle the people coming out of the command center. Non lethally for now since they had given up... it would be dishonorable to kil them but you could possibly say that they stumbled or resisted. Not all of them but just the ones who were a problem.

As the blast doors began to open, Jiyoen's senses—including the Force—were alert for danger. The moment there was enough space, she rushed in, the noghri with their carbine and him with her deactivated plasma cutter leading the way. She immediately began sweating from the increased temperature. Four of her Noghri were right behind her and they were silent.. they were fast covering a lot more. She cold not believe how dedicated and how skilled they were at covering or handling some of the more dangerous situations. The jedi certainly had something special and she had been told they were a special type a jedi sentinel.

"Hands up!" Jiyoen spoke loudly projecting as she swept her head across the line of people walking towards them. The seven men and two women instantly stopped and obeyed. Jiyoen reached out with a hand to try and do what the jedi were doing... sense if anyone else was inside. When she reached the last Tiantai, she stopped. "Is anyone else in here!?" she demanded, pointing her rifle and plasma cutter at the woman's chest from less than a meter away and keeping it deactivated. There was a look on her face but she wasn't one to harm a prisoner like this. If they realy did attack sure but she knew she could only go so far... Tengu had called her on it.

Two of the Noghri moved past them, searching the building. "N—No," the woman answered, trembling as her eyes followed the Noghri a moment, then went back to Jiyoen's rifle and cutter. Panicky people weren't the easiest to read with the your eyes since they twitched and were far to nervous. Considering Jiyoen didn't sense anyone else though.... although she was guessing there was more to it then in the heat of the moment, she believed her. Two more Noghri kept hustling the rest of the captured Tiantai members through the blast doors. They gave a nod of their heads that there wasn't anything of risk for the moment at least.

"Do you have any weapons on you?" Jiyoen asked her in a slightly calmer voice. Willing her to answer with the look on her face truthfully. her senses searching to hear and observe the changes in her body in case she lied. "N—No," she answered, still trembling. Jiyoen reached down and opened her overcoat to cool off. "Do you know how to operate the controls for the prison and barracks doors?" she asked her. She could well let her handle it and the woman was obviously scared this was a good thing. Just the right amount of fear would keep them hopefully from causing problems for their guards in the transports.

"Ye—Yes master," the Tiantai replied, slightly more confidently. Jiyoen set her rifle and plasma cutter underneath her left arm, out of the way. Then she stepped forward and began searching the woman for weapons while one of her Noghri covered her. When she finished, she pulled out a pair of binders, and slapped them around her wrists in front of her. "Let's go," Jiyoen said, pushing her back towards the interior of the command center. She needed information and while a pilot who came here form time to time was good at first... someone who well was stationed here and knew the place and the people would work a lot better.

The woman was in her mid-twenties, several centimeters smaller than Jiyoen, with black hair. She was also a few kilos heavier than Jiyoen. Jiyoen took the woman into the control room while the Noghri swept the building for Tiantai Order holdouts. There was a stack of blaster pistols on one of the desks. The woman stayed away from them without being told. She was practically trembling with fear. The problem was, Jiyoen needed her thinking rationally for the next little bit. She still kept aware of the blasters and moved them a little unconsciously to make it harder positioning herself in a place she could strike before one got to them.

"Hey, what's your name?" Jiyoen asked her as she sat her down in a chair at the control panel. The woman stared up at him for a few seconds. "What?" she asked, holding her cuffed hands defensively in front of her. "What's your name?" Jiyoen repeated, trying to calm her with the Force. "Akiza," she finally answered. "Akiza Sena." She was giving a thought to it... trying to remember the Sena house and there was rumors of them being upstarts.. ones who got ahead less on their skill and more on their ability to be in the right facvor at the right moment but they would then just as quickly change sides politically if it suited them.

"Well Akiza," Jiyoen said as she sat down a chair next to her, between her and the blasters on the desk. "I need you to take a deep breath and relax okay. No one is going to hurt you." Jiyoen opened her overcoat all the way as she watched Akiza take a couple of deep breaths. She also sensed her calm down somewhat, although she was still highly agitated. Jiyoen assumed it was from being captured. It made the Yovshin apprentice hold on her for a moment while she reached out to sense around her and to the prisoners. The thought of them almost freezing was becoming a real possibility. A real danger but she wasn't going to say anything yet.

Before Jiyoen could say anything else, the two Noghri that were searching the building entered the room, and announced it was clear. They also told him they had found a small weapons closet that had about ten blaster rifles, ten pistols, and two E-Web heavy repeating blasters in it. They said there were some grenades and extra power packs as well. Jiyoen instructed them to take the E-Webs and anything else they needed, and have Lieutenant Akio-Sama deploy them as he saw fit. Then she had to calm Akiza down a second time. The girl seemed prone to panic and she owondered if maybe well it was kind of adorable.

"Now Akiza, I need you to close all the prison doors, but leave them open about half-a-meter, okay. Can you do that?" "Yes," she replied, leaning forward and reaching out towards the controls with her cuffed hands. Jiyoen kept alert for deception from her movements but the girl seemed willing to do as needed. The control panel was laid out in a simple graphical design. The main doors for the prison were easy to spot. There were additional doors several meters inside the main ones. Each of the twenty housing units also had a pair of doors. There were also controls for the barracks and command center doors, as well as communications.

Akiza slid the doors closed, leaving them slightly open. "I'm not sure exactly how far open they are," she explained as she leaned back. "But that should be about half-a-meter." She had a small air of confidence that the Yovshin apprentice figured she could trust somewhat at least. "Thanks," Jiyoen told her. "How many people are in the barracks?" The woman shifted uneasily in her seat and the Yovshin apprentice remained still searching with her eyes over her. "Um, I'm not exactly sure," Akiza answered. "I think about thirty-five or so." THere was a look but reassuring her with a small hand on her shoulder. 'You are doing good' she told herself.

Jiyoen had no interest in fighting nearly three dozen Tiantai trouble makers, even if she had superior troops, and position. "Can you keep the barracks doors closed from here?" She hoped while feeling a few things swirling around in her mind. "No," Akiza replied. "They can be opened or closed from here or there." She looked down at her binders, and fidgeted in them a bit. Her body tensed and heartbeat changed a little. If she was a gambler she would lose for sure. It was almost endearing as she seemed to wear her emotions and her thoughts on her sleeve. No deception but it could also be a manipulation to protect herself.

Jiyoen thought she seemed to be about to say something else, but she remained silent. The Force was prompting her to find out. "You have something else to add?" she asked firmly, influencing her with the force of her voice at the same time. "Um, there's about thirty guard droids in the barracks too," Akiza said softly. "We keep them hidden from each other mostly to surprise in case prisoners revolt." Ah there it was but she was being honest.. so that would be something and it could change the course of a fight if they got activated. Droids would be only a problem for a time though as she crossed her arms mentally.

Jiyoen's eyes went wide in shock even under the sash and mask. Frakk! In a split-second she had activated her comlink. "There are guard droids in the barracks. If the doors open, treat the forces inside as hostile. Repeat, there are about thirty guard droids and thirty-five Tiantai soldiers in the barracks, if the blast doors open, treat them as hostile." She looked at Sena who seemed defeated and thought about what she had just done. If she meant it, if she was sure of it and had been turned from enemy to asset. THen the Tiantai would kill her just as much as they would have killed her or imprisoned her. She had no where left except for them to survive.

There was a chorus of acknowledgments from her troops. Jiyoen ran through a mental calming exercise. She had two dozen special-ops troopers, with two rocket launchers and two E-Webs. There was no way she could evacuate two thousand prisoners with the droids and Tiantai soldiers/cultists whatever you wanted to call them nearby. They would have to thin the numbers and make sure everything was taken care of here so they could leave. She wasn't looking forward to the risk of more things... frak she wasn't even sure what to actually do with this girl right here who had been helping them. Sending her back was just as dangerous.

Next Jiyoen contacted the transport that they had arrived on. She ordered them to power up, and get to their position as soon as possible. Then she contacted their bigger transport and passenger liner, and ordered them to head ther way as well. The liner would go into a low geosynchronous orbit so the two transports wouldn't have to travel far to ferry the prisoners back and forth. Then Jiyoen turned her attention back to her prisoner. Ideas went around in her mind about offering her a chance a single choice in this situation. The more she helped them the deeper she would be well in the hole as it were and the deeper the Tianttai would want to hurt her.

"Let's go," Jiyoen told Akiza, taking her by her upper arm. After a few steps towards the door, Jiyoen let go of her so she could zip up her coat again. A dozen meters or so later, they arrived outside, back in the freezing cold. The sense of foreboding that came to her gut through the force. There was something stirring from the explosions and she could feel it down below. Hell she thought for a moment she had the barest flash of one of the priestesses coming to warn her. What was that she wasn't certain her father had said the jedi were friends or at least family in the sense Unaga a legendary figure had been with the je'daii.

Lieutenant Akio-Sama had moved the captured Tianttai prisoners into the prisoner area and had the two demolitions troopers and several prisoners keeping an eye on them. She had three troopers in the observation post, and two more on the roof of the command center. One of the E-Webs was just to the side of the command center, as close as they could get it and still cover the barracks blast doors. The other one was just inside the prison doors. The rest of the troopers were spread out in the snow. The sniper and rocket launcher teams were still in place as well. All and all a good set up for them to do their own thing.

Jiyoen activated the comlink that was built into her hood. Then she began issuing orders. "I want Lieutenant Akio-Sama and five people inside the outer prison doors. I want four people in the observation post. The sniper and rocket teams stay where you are. The two people on the E-Web next to the command center stay there. Everyone else I want inside the command center." A smirk was on her face as she stood next to Sena, the idea of her being there to watch this didn't cross her mind at least since she couldn't do much and was in deep. So just like an asset you had to cultivate and protect them as much as push them.

There was another chorus of acknowledgments as they moved to obey Jiyoen's orders. Instead of heading for the prison though, Lieutenant Akio-Sama came to her. "We've got quite a few prisoners inside that claim to be military. They want to help. I told them I'd pass the message along," He told her over the howling wind. Then she felt it down below in her gut and for a moment was worried about things attacking or going wrong. It was hard to explain but the jedi had been talking to them about all of it. ABout the force and how it was in all things but only so many could feel it. They were special as it were with their family.

There were ten blaster rifles and ten pistols in the command center's weapons closet, plus the blaster pistols in the control room. Jiyoen knew that military could mean anything from highly trained crack-commandos to remote reserve militia that only cleaned up after natural disasters. She didn't have time to find out what sort of experience they had, and she wasn't about to give someone a weapon for the first time in ten years if she didn't have to. She was still learning but her father had taught her just has her mother had taught her sister. Their third sister well she was going to be one for great things within the family.

"Tell them thanks, but we have everything under control right now," Jiyoen replied. "And make sure the Tiantai memberss that we captured don't cause any problems." Lieutenant Akio-Sama acknowledged and headed towards the prisoner area. Jiyoen took Akiza back towards the command center. "I want to talk to the people in the barracks," Jiyoen told her once they got back in the control room. "And tell me who's in charge over there." As she spoke, she opened her coat again, and began pulling off her gloves. She was looking at the woman and hoped that she didn't need much more to be coaxed into helping them.

"Um, it should be Lieutenant Ami," Akiza replied as she reached towards the controls. "Go ahead," she said, nodding towards Jiyoen a couple of moments later. "This is Jiyoen Ike of the Royal Yovshin Guard in conjunction with the Galactic Republic," she said over the control panel comlink. "I would like to speak to whoever is in charge of the Tiantai soldiers in the barracks." At the same time, Jiyoen reached out with her feeling to get a sense of the people in the barracks and she was starting to get the hang of this.. kind of. She could feel people now at least. It might have been something she would be able to use with more practice.

She also pulled her overcoat and hood completely off, and put her regular comlink headset back on. That left her in her cold-weather-combat jumpsuit, thick outer pants, and boots. There was silence. Jiyoen looked questioningly at Akiza, who glanced at the controls, and nodded her head in consent. After several seconds, Jiyoen repeated the message. The third time, she added, "I know you are receiving this now answer me or we will be forced to breach and take everyone out." A threat even one that might be called... they could breach and harm them but she wasn't one to really kill them without the chance for them to surrender.

"There is Lieutenant Ami," someone finally replied. "Talk." The Yovshin apprentice scoffed for a moment and spoke. "Lieutenant, in case you haven't noticed, my forces have taken over your command center. If you surrender, then you and your people can leave this rock aboard the ships heading out. If not, then you can stay and explain to the Tiantai and their foreign buyer why you don't have their prisoners." She figured that could get a look, most seemed scared of the idea of these offworlders who wielded strange and dangerous situations. Entire fleets, powers, credits in a galaxy where more could be used.

Jiyoen didn't mention that she knew about the droids. After several seconds of silence she replied. "Okay," Lieutenant Ami answered. "We surrender. We're coming out." Jiyoen listened to her words over the comlink, and did her best to sense her intentions with the Force. She was sure she was lying. She didn't feel like she had given up. She didn't sound like she had been defeated.. more that she was playing them and the look she had from Ami confirmed mentally at least that something was going to happen as she looked over at a few things here. "Better." Jiyoen stayed there though as she leaned against the table.

"Actually I need to alert my forces so they don't open fire," Jiyoen quickly lied. "I'll contact you in a couple of minutes." There was a brief pause. "Okay," she responded. "We'll await your signal." Jiyoen sensed she was still deceiving her, but not lying that time. Maybe that meant she had believed her lie. She quickly switched comlinks to talk to her troops again. Ideas of what they would be doing... of what they would have to do from here on out to properly make the plan work. She looked around flicking her eyes as mentally she had a checklist and could feel soemthing underneath it all a presence in the back of her mind.

"The Tiantai soldiers and commanders in the barracks are still hostile. If the blast doors open, treat it as an attack," she announced over the comlink. There was another chorus of acknowledgments. Then Jiyoen contacted her transport to get its ETA. The pilot told her they would be there in about three minutes. Jiyoen told him to pull up the map of the prison complex on her HUD within the ship and to ensure she knew which building was the barracks. There was going to be a part of the plan... an idea forming where she wanted to work on more of it and really give a chance to herself. Jiyoen tapped her chin for a moment.

Once that was done, Jiyoen had about three minutes to kill. One of her Noghri was by the door of the control room, and the rest were near the command center blast doors. Akiza was sitting silently in the chair, looking down at the binders on her wrists again. "So, why did you join up with the Tiantai Order?" Jiyoen asked her. It was an innoent enough question and if you wanted to understand someone... if you wanted to twist them from an asset to a loyal asset who doubted their own people becoming a traitor... well it would require some work and coaxing in the form of pressure but talking and reassurances.

Akiza paused a moment before replying. "My husband joined, and I went with him," she answered with a shrug. Jiyoen noticed she said went, and not came, implying that she wasn't with the Tiantai Order anymore. "So where's your husband now?" she asked casually, hoping he wasn't in the barracks. Akiza probably wouldn't be as cooperative after she had troopers blast her husband into little bits. It could make the talks between them or any sort of trust more awkward. She was thinking about some of the stories of legend about the different Atrisian generalsacross the planet from the days of unifications.

"He died a couple of months ago," she replied softly. "At one fo the early attacks on the Night Fortress." Jiyoen idly wondered if she had killed him when they had captured the Tiantai Order leadership and that traitor Pwoe. "So why are you still with them?" Jiyoen asked her. "Do you believe the propoganda about the emperor that much? Do you really believe that the Tiantai are going to win?" "I don't know," Akiza responded, seemingly to both questions. Which could be a big thing and a dangerous thing in the long run. THe emperor wasn't perfect but he was the emperor.. one needed to serve their master with honor.

Jiyoen could sense she really wasn't sure. She however, was very sure, at least about the outcome of the war. "The Tiantai and their allies are going lose," she told Akiza firmly. "And you'd better believe it. It is something I have seen many times and they do not stand a chance in the long run" Akiza didn't respond for several seconds. When she did, it was only to change the subject. "I don't think Lieutenant Ami is really planning on surrendering," she said. "She's really a believer in the cause." Jiyoen gave a nod internally as she was suspecting the same thing... she was suspecting that there would be danger with it.

"Me neither," Jiyoen agreed with a nod. "That's why I talked them into waiting before they came out." "Are you really an Ike?" Akiza asked her, changing the subject again. Jiyoen had only used her blades in the observation post. She had used the title Yovshin when dealing with the Tiantai soldiers. She didn't think she was famous enough to be known my sight even with her family, especially with all the cold-weather gear she was wearing. More so because all reports said she was eight hundred and to human standards she looked seventeen. The family were renowned for their loyalty and skills with blades and knowledge.

"What makes you say that?" she replied out of curiosity. "Isn't that the legendary jar'lai blade set?" Akiza asked, gesturing towards the swords with their dragonhead hilts attached to her hip and the other ones on the belt. Jiyoen gave a tight smirk, slightly impressed she had recognized it in such a location. "Yes, it is," she responded. "And yes, I am." Akiza remained silent for a few seconds. "Can't you just kill everyone in the barracks with a wave of your hand? Wouldn't that be more along with the Emperors will towards dissenters?" Jiyoen looked at her and touched the hilts of theswords as it ran over the dragonheads.

Jiyoen couldn't help but burst out with laughter. "If only but no not quite," she answered. "If a Yovshin could order a kill with a wave of their hand, we would have already won." Before Akiza could say anything else, Jiyoen received a comm. It was the pilot of her transport, telling her that he had arrived at the prison complex, and was hovering in place. She told him to stand by. With the conversation cut short for a moment she had looked down to see the hilts. The dragon heads were ivory and smooth from use but they were not ornate and big they were just carved finely into the hilts to give it a look but it wouldn't distract or impede.

While she had been chatting with Akiza, Jiyoen had been going over her plan in her mind. She was sure that Lieutenant Ami wasn't planning on surrendering. However, she wasn't quite ready to slaughter them all based solely on what she felt through the Force better yet what she knew in her gut and had gotten confirmed with Akiza's opinion. She flipped her comlink over to broadcast to all of her troops, and the transport. The terrible feeling from down below was in her stomach. The tightening of her gut had her worried about it... there was more to this.. more here and more of a danger then she could think about.

"This is Jiyoen. The barracks blast doors will be opening in a few moments. If anyone sees droids, or is fired upon, then everyone, including the transport, is cleared to return fire, is that understood?" There was a chorus of acknowledgments. Jiyoen made sure the transport crew understood, as they had the most firepower. It had a pair of starfighter-grade laser cannons, and a concussion missile launcher. Far more than enough to deal with thirty guard droids and as many Tianttai soldiers. Once she was sure everyone knew what to do, she told Akiza to contact the other Tiantai commander withint he barracks again.

"Alright Lieutenant Ami, my troops know that you are surrendering, you can come out," Jiyoen said over the comlink. "That took quite a while," she replied. "I hope you weren't setting up an ambush?" "Not at all," Jiyoen lied smoothly. "My communications equipment simply isn't working properly in the cold." "I see," Lieutenant Ami answered. "Well, if you're ready then, we are coming out, unarmed, please don't shoot us." The please made it different and if it was the thing that was a knife int he dark. If she trusted her to have honor it would be one thing.. if she expected her to betray them it would be something but she could only call it a hunch.

"We're standing by," Jiyoen replied cheerfully. The instant she finished talking, she let go of the transmit button, and turned back to Akiza. "Can you make the blast doors open faster?" she asked her. "I—I don't know," she replied, looking at the controls. "We've never tried to find out." "Well, if they try to close the doors again, make sure they open all the way," Jiyoen instructed her. "Yes Lady Ike," Akiza responded obediently. Her eyes going downcast as she seemed to be thinking about her positon and was unsure if she was going to have a place after all of this. Jiyoen had chosen perhaps a little too well in this case.

Jiyoen really wanted to be outside in the fight with her yovshin borhters and sister, but she knew she could do more here. She did start putting her overcoat and hood back on though. A moment later, she heard the transport's laser canons shooting, and a few seconds later, its concussion missile launcher. At the same time, she felt the Tiantai soldiers, commanders and droids even in the barracks dying. Even though they were the enemy, it was hard to feel so much death through the Force and it was raw. She had no context or kowledge of how to block it just that being here around the others it had sparked it and brought it to her.

The shooting was over in about twenty seconds, although it seemed like much longer. Finally there was silence. "We're going in to check for survivors," Sergeant Abashi announced over the comlink. "We're with you," someone else added. "Let's go," Jiyoen told Akiza, gesturing towards the door with her hand and reeling a little while the equipment went on. She could feel everything still.. it was like an exposed nerve to her body... the force, these jedi had awakened it and the legends of her family that they had skills... had capabilities within the force and the je'daii. The family sword that chose once a generation someone to wield it.

By the time they made it outside, several more troopers had moved into the barracks. Jiyoen had no trouble smelling parts of at least a dozen guard droids scattered about the oil an burning metal pungent, along with quite a few bodies. She activated her comlink, and began issuing more orders. The soldiers were going about fully trained and in practiced movements that were a good thing to have. The jedi were moving around as well and had been helping them set the pace, set a tone for ensuring what was down and dfeated stayed down and defeated. They didn't execute but they also didn't leave weapons intact where they could help it.

"I want the transport on the ground as close to the prison as you can get. Leave two people in the observation post and the E-Web by the command center covering the barracks. Sergeant Abashi, once your team is finished clearing the barracks building for threats, let me know. Lieutenant Akio-Sama, let's start loading up prisoners. Leave the Tiantai soldiers and their commanders for last," Jiyoen instructed them. She had a plan... a method maybe for getting them out of here. if something was down below waiting for prisoners, if it incited them then it would come and make itself known.... and the first thing it would encounter would be the tiantai.

There was another chorus of acknowledgments as they began obeying him. Then Jiyoen turned to her prisoner. "Barracks," she told him, gesturing towards the open blast doors with her rifle. As they walked, Jiyoen reached out with her hand to direct the jedi to use the force and sense to see if she could maybe get some early warning from their senses. If there were any Tiantai soldiers or commanders left still alive in the barracks. By the time they reached the barracks, Jiyoen was pretty sure there weren't any left alive though. She was looking to see what they might be able to do. She wanted to have some of the rifles while she was being prepared.

The transport set down with its ramp just a few meters from the prison doors. In minutes Lieutenant Akio-Sama had it filled to capacity with rescued prisoners. It took them nearly three hours to get all of the prisoners, plus the Tianttai prisonerss, onto the passenger liner. Jiyoen had her troops salvage as much of the weapons and equipment as they could from the barracks and command center. She had also had her two demolitions troopers blow the control room up so it couldn't be used again. She didn't want to leave anything that might be getting used here. If they left and it got retaken... then they would have to work for it.

Jiyoen waited until the very last transport to leave. It was the smaller one she had arrived on. Besides her, with Akiza, the other eight tiantai prisoners and commanders they had captured, and her special-ops troopers were aboard. There were also some containers of equipment they were taking from the prison, including one with several hundred sets of binders, stun cuffs, shock shackles, and even slave collars. It was a painful experience they might have to use to keep them calm if the time came. She was thinking of something while flexing her hands until the knuckles were white but she had the gloves on.

As they took off, Jiyoen had the pilot blast the observation post into twisted wreckage. Then she had him shoot through the open blast doors of the command center, just to make sure the Tiantai Order couldn't use the place again. The large gaping hole in the ground collapsed as a sound came from below. The Yovshin apprentice had a look on her face and turned to stare as hovering over it brought thick shadows to the scanners but in the force. She didn't know what she was doing but she could feel so much from it. This was almost overwhelming in the dangerous situation. She could fel one of the jedi near her touching her shoulde.

In the force she felt it and spoke to one of the TIantai commanders in the ship. "What is down there?" her voice was more of a growl as she could feel something down there and throughout the operation it had been twisting in her gut but now the man spoke a little scared. "We don't know we never went down there, no one does it eats everything and we keep it sealed." That got the jedi masters around her attention as she opened the door and looked down with a crouch. She couldn't allow this to become a dangerous thing to the rest of Atrisia. If it was sealed then opened now it was a threat and the yovshin handled threats.

"What are you going to do?" It was Akiza and Jiyoen looked over to her while speaking to the pilot. "I'm going down there get them to the ship and get out of here. Inform The rest of the Yovshin where I am and to send a team. Whatever is down there we can't have it getting loose." The pilot gave a nod of her head as Jiyoen jumped wrapping the force around him while she came down. The force cushioning and slowing the fall until she felt the temperature change entering the depths of the cave. She didn't know how she was doing it but she was and it was letting her survive when her senses exploded.... but she knew the proximity to the jedi and more.

The ship headed up and decloaking from the white current a slender woman in white robes stood in the transport as they headed for the passenger liner. Jiyoen and two dozen commandos had rescued just over two thousand prisoners from a Tiantai Order prison, and hadn't had a single injury, much less lost anyone. Arya moved and sat silently contemplating that. For the first time since the beginning of well this mission here, she had been impressed enough to show herself, and no one had gotten killed. After a few seconds, she began smiling and leaned back in the cabin looking at the others around it.

"Hey who are you??" Sergeant Abashi asked from the seat next to her. "I am one of the masters," she said with a half truth, quickly covering her eyes with her shawl so she wouldn't see her face. "I'm fine," she said in a clipped tone that stopped him from commenting further. The Fallanassi master would oversee the ship taking care of everything and make sure the jedi's master of the order got the information. A ship would return as needed. Her mission prepared to really work on everythign the others got to do. She wanted to protect them and several had been sent around the planet to observe rumors of the atrisian empire.

Slowly the Yovshin apprentice felt herself touch the ground and a small impact crater formed that sent a thundering crack through the cave. her rifle and cutting torch coming to her hand and the smells had changed. There was dead stuff down here, the smell of rotting meat decomposing slowly in the damp air filled the cavern and she could sense something was up ahead. The flesh on her arms and hairs standing warning of pradators, of things out there searching. There were older thing on atrisia.. the deeper you went into the planet.. the deeper you searched. Some fo the oldest histories of Atrisia were told thousands of years later.

The temperature was warmer down here and the Yovshin apprentice was actually sweating as she moved and took off the overcoat, gloves and was left standing in plain attire. The small chill from the air meeting her sweat was sending a shiver down her spine but it was still a welcome change from the restricting clothing. Here she could really move and holding her sabers. The skittering of something brought her attention deeper into the caverns while she went down. THoughts of the ancient singers... beings who appeared in the night and brought them from the depths of the world. They were ancient... some said timeless and she knew the legends.

Quickly her pace went from a slow careful walk to a small jog until she reached a drop off and looked down. There was something large and a grouping of people there. With another in between them that was being attacked, that got the Yovshin apprentice to back up and run full pace jumping with force speed into the air as she launched herself at the large creature and as it snarled, screeched and looked up towards him she felt the power between it and the man off to the side from the others. She was using a link with it before the Yovshin apprentice landed and rolled. THe sound of snow and ice crunching reminded her of stories and bone.

She moved to the ground and looked at the group around him, going back to back with a beast of a man who reeked of stale urine and blood. Then the tension went away and she heard someone shout. "Enough." The leader if she could be called that was standing at the top of an incline and Jiyoen felt the one behind him stiffen ready for more of a fight. "And who are you? Another interloper who has come to steal my treasure the god beast will devour you and I will have all of your secrets." There was a look on her face when she moved and this was something she could go with.. something she could understand... a fight.

The Yovshin apprentice reached out and felt the one in the room as the large man a marauder of the sith she could feel now charged them. The creature wasn't making a move yet but the power emanating from the man's chest... She had something on him as the Yovshin apprentice focused for a moment and disappeared into the white current to disappear. She had face zealots like ther before and now as she went into that place to fight she looked to go after the leader. Cut off her head and the others would fall. Well that was the idea but just killing her would be a challenge you had to really work on... Still if it wasn't hard it wouldn't be worth it.

Jiyoen then watched and moved with careful movements around the man as her three fought and then Andelka joined in. The beast of a man spoke spinning around in place as she searched for the Yovshin apprentice and Jiyoen's mind played out scenarios. She could leave the one sith by herself or she could help for the moment and handle it later or she could fight them all. Slowly she listened to the marauder begin to fail and she remembered what her old master told her as she watched speaking the words through the haze of snow being kicked up.. Choosing to go after all of them. She would have to make this a real fight if this was lucky.

"I saw a creature, she sat and she held her own heart in her hands, and she ate of it. I asked her, "Is it good friend?" She said, "It is bitter. Bitter. But I like it because it is bitter." Slowly Jiyoen moved as she looked at the others who couldn't hear hEr and she laughed her head tilted to the side. Slowly she grabbed one of the attackers by her tight ponytail. "And because it is my heart." Quickly Jiyoen gave a laugh a small one and threw her against the cave wall with a sickening crack. She could feel the force but she knew the power or theatricality and deception in a fight to make one seem like many and you could get the best results.

There was no real time to worry once that creature was ordered to attack she would be in trouble and attacked another slashing her rifles plasma cutter across another mans chest following through to reach the leg of the marauder. The Yovshin apprentice had two down and three threats left plus a large beast she would have to deal with. her saber left her hand to impale into the back leg of the marauder before she was attacked by the third man and Jiyoen ran. She was thinking about her fathers methods for fighting a superior force such as this.. she was thinking about the dangers that might be coming towards her with the fight.

She ran after the leader perking up with the hairs on her arm before she lept through the current and as the man looked back and around she used what flexibility she had her hand and rushed towards her back hooking her hand under the mans chin. The momentum to dig a strike of her deactivated cutter into her spine deeper at the forth lumbar in the sweet spot. Slowly Jiyoen breathed in the scent of the mans skin as she smelled the sweat and underneath the scent of fear. She was afraid now that she wasn't in control of her own senses. Quickly Jiyoen moved as she hooked her arm under Andelka's chin as she stood back to back with him and dropped to her knees twisting 270 degree's as she snapped Andelka into a backbreaker.

She crashed her knee's into the ground as the snap brought the man onto her stomach. Jiyoen quickly rolled him over and twisted sitting on her chest as she drove her fist down to her chest and found the source of the energy she was sensing now. The cool metal in her grasp the Yovshin apprentice pulled and heard what she had been hoping to avoid. "My beast attack." She didn't pause, pulling the metal to him and rolling onto her back. The Yovshin apprentice kicked as the massive creature roared and launched the man upinto its waiting maw before she pocketed the piece. It was warm and smooth in her hands with a look around.

The marauder was dead and she had killed the lone attacker as the large beast ate the man. The snapping of bones loud in the cavern, the Yovshin apprentice stood up and held out her hand as the saber returned to it and the silvery blue was out with a purple blade. She reached out with the force and was glad the others had made it out, she was hoping they got the message to the yovshin and she would be on the way hopefully. Or ther could become something dangerous while a smirk came. If this was going to be her death then this was going to be one of honor and glorious in terms. Hopefuly songs might be sung and honor gained for her family.

This wasn't going to be won by a single stroke of her blades, she could make out what the creature was now and it wasn't a good thing. One of these were dangerous and if it was down here killing things then it had been trapped. Ancient and brought to the world by beings who were equally as dangerous. She had to think of something to do now though since it might escape and with its food source gone.... Ther could prove difficult. "Well I did want to have a fight." The smirk that came on her face was more then enough while the Yovshin apprentice clenched her fists and breathed to focus. The blister pods on its back opening and releasing a scent of old death.

The jedi had faced many things and in truth she had never expected to face a behemoth such as this but it felt good. THeir tales were not just legends and rumors... things were real and that meant other things might be real. Win or lose she had to admit she was enjoying the moment as she charged to the side and thought about several duels she had been in. The music Sawa had introduced her to was playing in her head and she had to admit she enjoyed it. Then she was off and focused pushing the force into her muscles, into the very fiber of her being before the words came out to allow her hands to grip the wall. She was touching it, she was touching parts of it when she had her rifle and plasma cutter prepared.

her frantic motioned had the rifle with plasma cutter and blade releasing from her hands at the creatures eyes with a sneer and Jiyoen jumped going up high to the cavern roof as the beast jumped. Then came down with a thunderous crash almost making her lose her grip but she remained grabbing one of the stalagmites and punching it. The cracks forming before it dropped and the Yovshin apprentice went with it jumping all off towards the wall. The metal in her pocket was still cool but pulsed radiating energy almost until she landed and rolled. She was feeling the force but how and like this why.... where was the energy coming from.

The Yovshin apprentice took the piece and held it with her bare hand as she felt it then, a surge of energy into her being and it was like a jolt of energy to her system before she went off running again. The rock had crashed into one of the blisters and impaled itself but it wasn't enough damage before it roared. Now it was a matter of finding something large enough to hurt it or enough things to smack into it so they could do as needed. "Maybe ther wasn't the best idea." The doubt entered her mind but she thought about what had happened with Iella on the world and what had happened.

She hadn't been ready for that either but she had trusted in the will of the emperor and her family and went through the trials and tribulations for one reason. She was a firm believer in the power and strength of Atrisia. She wasn't afraid and there was no reason to start now as she felt it then. That lingering tendril from the creature trying to mess with him. Paranoia and fear wasn't something a hunter felt and she thought about what could happen next from all of ther. She didn't want to die but it was a real possibility when facing dangerous creatures. She would have to move and move faster before the day was over.

Then there was a pulse and coolness washing over the Yovshin apprentice from the object she had grabbed and took it out. The coolness of the metal in her hands felt strange but it was invigorating compared to other things she had touched. Whatever it was she needed to protect it from misuse while charging at the beast. Whatever it was it helped and Jiyoen dropped down sliding along the floor as the saber went at the beasts foot. She allowed herself to fully open to it, that invisible cord of her being... that hollow place she hadn't know existed as she drank in the power of the force energy itself. The object was warm and looked bright on the edge of her vision.

The plasma blade biting into it and the sizzling sound as the creature shrieked. The tendon slashed until Jiyoen rolled around to her feet before dashing backwards and avoiding the creatures tail. She could notice the beast turning slower and it was getting angered chasing after him again and Jiyoen jumped at the wall letting its head crash into the cavern wall. She used the spell again to climb and jumped holding the rifle blade out and activated with two hands as it drove down at the beasts head. SHe wanted to handle this on her own now... it was a point of pride for her to use... it was a point of pride for the yovshin to really strike at it.

Then it was screaming and slashing while she dodged with the blade digging in. her foot finding one of the beasts eyes as Jiyoen started to kick and felt the thing give away covering her boot and leg in ocular jelly. her face shown a look of disgust but the shrieking was evidence that some damage was done. She kept moving with it keeping the blade as it dug into the beast before getting bucked off into the air. Her eyes opening wide at first but then closing where she prepared herself to really build up her reserves. The object was still feeding into her... the power was there and she could fel her sisters across the planet... could feel them here and there... everywhere.

With a turn in mid air and some force energy Jiyoen came down again slamming the blade into its tail and she jumped leaving the blade just a bit jumping towards the ground. Then she was rolling and sending a force shockwave. For the first time she was glad the biting cold and chill in her bones was keeping her moving, keeping her motivated and able to move faster. She didn't even know she could do that with the force but it seemed like with the object any number of things were possible and she only had to think about it. She only had to feel the force or think about it to let the objects warm and power course through her veins.

Then she heard a sound and looked over as the large being was moving and stirring on the ground. She was also bleeding the scent of blood strong in the air as Jiyoen ran and heard him scream. The shockwave came for a moment as Jiyoen jumped up and turned over the shockwave as it came hitting her ears with a deafening ring. This was going to be problematic while the creature turned back to look towards the marauder and Jiyoen used the moment it grabbed him with the face worms. They were sickening with the sounds of the wriggling.. of the squelching where the yovshin wriggled and tried to get away from the sounds like they were crawling on her skin.

Slowly the man was set in the blister pod and Jiyoen could feel his pain in the force but couldn't do anything yet. The Yovshin apprentice reached up towards the top of the cavern and focused finding some loose rocks as she tossed kinetite blasts into it to drop on the beast. Hopefully it would help ease the beings pain more then they likely deserved with a small amount of reservation but it would be cruel to not help. SHe was resolved and careful but not cruel about things. She might think it in the heat of the moment but then it would pass and she would go back to being the friendly determined member of the House of Ike.

The rocks fell and one crushed the blister pod as the screams ended, the metal in her hand pulsing and she didn't feel tired from all of ther as Jiyoen moved about to let the wounded beast chase her. "Come on, come at me." She shouted more and more going up onto an incline and as the creature growled Jiyoen aimed a blast of kinetic force energy focuwed from her hands at the beast while her other senses flicked with her eyes sending a heavy mental assault that was meant to make it topple. The beast was strong and dangerous.. she was determined and powerful in her own right with all of the force here from the world.

The beast roared againa nd was blindly slashing as it hit Jiyoen and she was glad for the armor bodysuit as the armor protected her and she was thrown into a wall. The feeling in her chest was like a weight had slammed into it and relearning how to breathe wasn't a fun thing. Nor was the taste of copper in her mouth as the Yovshin apprentice was lifted and held in front of the beast. It was scenting her and Jiyoen growled at it... then it growled at her before she kicked its tooth jamming it down that thick throat. IF she was going to perish... she was going to go out kicking and fighting... no screams but she would make sure it knew her name.

Then she was going in to the mouth and Jiyoen could feel the heat of its breath on her face. A foul wind that made her want to pass out. Taste the decay from flesh left in its teeth and growled before curling up and landing on the beasts tongue as it chomped down missing her body. In the mouth was a tight fit while the beasts saliva got everywhere and she felt the beasts saliva matting her hair. Then it reeled its head back and she slipped going down. THe texture of its tongue was thick, slim covered and nasty.. but there wasn't enough for her to grip while she was sliding. " No no no no." Where she was going before tryingt o dig her blades into it.

This was not a good thing and as she slid down the throat of the creature the Yovshin apprentice reached out grabbing a ridge of flesh and dug her hands in. The small strain was there in her muscles while she felt the slippery saliva and other fluids but kicking to dig her boots into the esophagus was enough to hold her in place. Then Jiyoen reached out grabbing the other side while she pushed to wedge herself into position against the wall of the beasts throat with all of that meat. She was just above the stomach as the rhythmic thumping thumping of the heart before she started to formulate a plan. What could go anymore wrong?

Alright I am in the stomach of a Leviathan and alone She hoped that her message and report had been given as needed and that the jedi were on the way. Knowing Sawa she would or knowing Jiwei she would.... her father would be disappointed if by the time they came this thing wasn't dead. She wouldn't disappointed them. It mattered less who came and more that someone did so she wasn't stranded on an ice world deep in a cave. She really didn't want to have to deal with that while she calmed her mind. Listening to her breathing steady before she reached out with the force. Digging her heels and hands in more and growing stiff.

The Yovshin apprentice looked inward and deep down while sending out the force to reach anyone of the people she could think about within the span of a heartbeat. She knew what she would have to do before the objective became clear. Her hands digging in while she held the piece of metal in her hand and pushed off bringing one of the points out below to dig into and create a gash that stank of just awful things. Old death, rot and whatever bodily fluids were there. Then she had blood and gut over her face as the Yovshin apprentice climbed through into the chest cavity and she could feel the lungs of the beast inflating as it inhaled.

Then she was slashing and tearing digging her hands into the lungs as air and blood washed over her with a putrid stench, then she was carving her way through it down deeper amidst the shrieks and roars, then the choking on blood until the Yovshin apprentice found the heart. Beating rapidly and irregular. her arms wrapped around it as Jiyoen squeezed and constricted it to kill the creature. She ground her teeth in slight frustration and then it gave way and there was a roar that turned into a gurgle. Her eyes were tearing into it when she kicked to dig her boots into the meat of the creature while sucking in what clean air she could.

Then there was an impact and things fell silent, Jiyoen was laying there between the heart and pieces of lung while she took a deep breath and let go withdrawing her plasma cutter to slice and area she could climb around in. Maneuvering she made sure to dice the heart just in case and kicked until her feet met rib cage. Using that as a guide Jiyoen put the blade between the ribs and slowly started to slice through the thick underbelly of the beast. Then she could scent it under all the guts, goop and blood. That wonderful scent of chilled air and the Yovshin apprentice pushed herself forward to climb out of the beast. A gasp of air as she opened her mouth with a sharp intake.

Jiyoen was looking around as she laid there and could feel something, that same feeling from when she was a little girl listening to her mother and father tell her all about the legends their house or Atrisia itself. When she had been training in the Imperial city of Jar'kai, that same sensation of power and she looked up seeing it.. the feeling of something on her face. Thick, wet and fleshy before it trailed the gore away. Leaving a pale streak and she rolled over falling back against the creature to try and protect herself.... but that tongue wasn't what she was feeling as she looked up and saw a massive wolf. Or was it a hellhound

"Well well well... little Ike has come here now." The voice wasn't coming from the wolf but she could see it rasiing back on its haunches, eyes glazed over for a moment as the mist and whatever it really was appeared. "Seeking me out, drawing my attention by killing my pets. When will your kind ever learn. I am not one with whom you can mess and now... now you will pay the price for your.. curiosity." She coudl feel its voice not from lips but from everything around her. Jiyoen was looking at parts of the mist around the cave. She recalled the legends of Ishimura and her star eyes, who used crystals to replace her blind eyes and she could see hellhounds around the world.

Then she was being taken in the jaws of the wolf and moving, somewhere she couldn't feel as her stomach lurched beneath her, her eyes shutting through the bright tunnel before she clung to the wolf and felt the soft fur of the beast. She had been to the spirits, the priestesses but had never seen anything like this before. She had seen some of the more dangerous things that they were all going to be doing.... Then she was awake, looking over at it when she was deposited on the floor. it was like a dream at first and she couldn't believe she had realy been there... the mission, the prison, the caves.... the spirits of legend.... maybe it was all a dream.

She couldn't tell where she was, looking around the room was filled and opulent... garish in most cases but she was ale to see areas of the room in the light. Shelves of artifacts and things that were left around. The wolf was there looking at her and it growled silently but was watching her more then anything. Its eyes still glazed over while in the shadows she could sense it, something was moving against the thicker shadows showing her what they were going to be doing. "Welcome to your new life." It wasn't a dream and she was looking around seeing what she could. What legends she could partake in before the young woman prepared mentally.

She didn't have much in the way to resist, the being was older then her, stronger in ways that few others could understand so she did what was smarter. She didn't resist, she bided her time, focused on keeping herself stronger and safer so that she could learn about what they were doing.. what he was as the room she was in was something that she would want to be in. It was an artifact collection unlike anything else she had ever seen. Millions of artifacts from species across the galaxy... from eras she had never known existed. Whatever this thing was... she knew what it was... no she knew what it claimed to be what they legends claimed.

Whatever this thing was.. it was ancient or it was something else and she could see parts that had been formed later from other species. Things far older and more dangerous then what she had faced before. Legends that the spirits and the priestesses had spoken about when they touched the cosmic force. 'Ohhh' She felt one of the spirits in her head giggling.. amused at her thought of the Omnipotent beings that controlled space and time even matter being able ot make things from nothing. SHe was thinking about it and standing there while she looked around.. the legends of her family about going to a place a realm with beings like Wapoe... or was this all Wapoe pretending to be something else.

News of his daughter disappearing from the polar region, news that his wife was being attacked had brought the aging chamberlain out of his home. An old friend of the emperor... and old brother in arms and protector. He had come to se him and few could refuse him being allowed in. As the doors to the chamber opened the Emperor was in his private rooms having some tea served to him. THe man always looked more sickly as h got close, the stories that his health was failing and that it had sparked legends of what he had been doing. SOme claimed because he was allowing outsiders from the stars, others claimed it was because of what he had been doing to the ancestors.

"Matsudaria." His voice came out as he held a hand up to him. Taking it and feeling the weakened flesh. It was a strange feling but he sat down and spoke. "I have heard disturbing reports my emperor. Please tell me these are not true." THe man said it and standing there with everything serious and well defined. He waited to hear from the emperor. "It is true, there are reports of a ship returning, there are prisoners being captured in the outeer provinces, my yovshin are enforcing my will and putting down rebellions among the rabble everywhere." He stood there, stunned at first trying to figure it all out and he knew the rumors would be... it was to much at once.

"What madness have you unleashed my old friend. Your sister only wants to help you and the people." He moved to sit across from him. This was his emperor and his oldest friends but he was not so unfeeling. If his daughters, if his wife were in danger he would protect them. "SHe wants to take the throne... the same way my great grandfather took the throne from his sister and stoped the line of the empress." He said it and there was a madness to his eyes... he was serious about stopping it. "So I did what I needed to do, these republic dogs will serve to strengthen my yovshin to enforce my will, these foreign powers in the galaxy will provide credits and riches to fight back.

He gasped then... the prisoners were being sold to pay for him. "What have you done my emperor.... this is close to... to." He trailed off and there was a snort. "Who do you think made the Tiantai... my sister was gaining the support of the people. Secretly my lords and ladies whisper secret toasts to her overtaking me... they seek her to claim the throne and restore the line of the gemstone empresses. Resurrect the great empire of Kitel Phard, bring back the ancient gods and demons that were once worshiped and praised. I will not have that. My ancestor cast down the gods... he cast out the line of empresses and ,brought order to our world."

There was a look on Matsudaria's face when he stopped. "Your sister loves you, she served you faithfully and has only ever tried to help you when your health began to fail. Your sickness from when we were all children together, when we all played together, trained together." He said it and the emperor was loking at him with a mask of hatred and twisted fury. "Yes we all played and she was loved by the people, I was the weaker one and so had to become smarter. Plots within plots and so I created the TIantai, who would give an enemy, who would serve her in name but secretly they are mine. They serve my goals of ruining her."

"THis madness has to stop, you have organized attacks on your own people, your own generals to what.... to dishonor your sister?" THe emperor looked at him. "Yes, she will not be able to show her face on Atrisia... her Tiantai are slaughtering and capturing people, the Great Empire of Kital Phard shall never rise again and all who have proven disloyal to me will pay. You I protected my old friend but your wife.. she has been corrupted. She always was too close to her and the ship that is returning the captain. Her house would serve my sister and having one of our strongest ships coming back after I tried to have it destroyed they will reveal all of my plans."

He had heard enough and rose up. "THis is worse then I had ever thought it might be my old friend... my emperor. You have lost it.... we only ever wanted to protect you, to serve you but your madness, your sickness born from what happened has corrupted your spirit. Your mind cannot remember your honor." The emperor tried to rise up and maqtch him but couldn't standing there. "I am the emperor, it is my will that dictates what is right. You have always had the legends of your houses. Of house Ike whom you married into... your wife my great investigator but she never suspected the truth.. your house of Hanzo, master craftsmen and men beyond reproach."

He finally managed to stand up and the anger in his voice was what really did it. "Me... I always grew up with the legends of our golden empires past, of the line of gemstone empresses, the god empress on earth.... her great city that housed a million men all of her servants... all of them her husbands. One taken for each year of her rule and how she ascended to rule over the cosmos joining the god of Atrisia of Kital Phard itself. Leaving a rightful ruler in place who would protect the people... my great grandfather slew his sister forever staining my honor, he took a witch as his bride to make us stronger and we have ruled with true power."

"The chamberlain was saddened as he turned around. "Your ancestors blood betrayal is something we have never talked about because of the dishonor. You know as your friend I have always stood by you right or wrong but this is a madness my emperor. I need to tell you the dangers of the path you are on. You must know that your honor, your children will suffer from the gods if this is continued. Make peace please." The man seemed taken aback by that and moved up. "What do you mean... you still serve me yes? You still will kill my sister when she comes if I order it yes?" THere was a look on his face when he spoke. "Yes, I serve the rightful ruler of Atrisia."

The Star Eye was going through the airspace of the lower continent, the crew working hard as slowly Jiwai sat in the observation dome with the datacron recovered from the daiymo's tomb. The work they were doing there with Quilara on the unknown fortress to recover anything they could had yielded this while she looked at the gatekeeper. A bull of a man and powerhouse within the yovshin of old she was certain as the holographic room brought up the maps he was showing her. "When the great city fell I was in charge of taking and hiding away the treasures of the last gemstone empress." She was looking at him while the thoughts went though her head of the different things displaying itself on the map before she relaxed a little.

They were heading in the new coordinates and she hadn't gone to that far off section of the planet... Well going to some of it sure but as her meditations were resounding Jiwai let the force energies dance across her skin while she sat there in the center of the room. She allowed herself to enter a center of being while slowly and further from them they made a vertical leap to get towards the hidden Atrisian vaults. They weren't going outwards but somewhere outside the main atmosphere while she was looking over it now in her mind and felt something for a moment. The force sending her a small vision as she deactivated the datacron feeling them leap.

The travel time was not something she was enjoying now but once they reached the moon going from the planet to the other she watched and could see the beacons leading the way while now the anxious energy had her pacing. She couldn't sleep or meditate but standing there in the touched up and repaired robes the jedi had given her had granted her. A token for her family and infused with the lightside of the force.... also she realized the truth about her family didn't need to breathe as these robes were tight in the chest area. She didn't need a sarashi wearing it. The light brown robes hugging while she finished securing the utility belt and the small circlet at her ankle.

The sensation of the anklet as it worked providing a thin layer shield over her made the recycled air see a little fresher then before, her hands brushing while she secured the armband that had worked to access the one vault. The final part was the robes she and her father had found as the darker brown robes resonated with the lightsaber on the table now. Vimea's jar'kai blade and her masters robes cleaned and adjusted to fit her while she slid the collar of it up letting her shielding unit rest on her belt while she was looking over some of the things presented. Comlink and image caster, the new model toolkit as she was securing it on her wrists under the robe.

The whirring of the machines while she slid onto her thighs the tube casings in their special frame for grabbing and switching them out. Her hair in several tight braids able to be contained in a series of ribbons and set under the robes while the collar was up higher then normal as she finally got to the two blades. The first two were the jar'kai blades with sleek blackened metal casing and the distinct designs on them of the Ike house as her hands went over the interlocking center securing it on her hip. Then the twin blades while she checked the one with its engraved electrum while she secured in on her hip and then the dagger blade with the hilt crystal humming within it while both were there in front on display.

She had her gear with a small combat knife in her boot while lacing it up while checking the gas levels within it, making sure the ejection system to launch it or release the gas into something she stabbed. With all of her attention on it as they were traveling she didn't notice the system they ended up in. Coming off of the string of worlds and into the unknown sections of the moon, her attention not on the world around her but more on that facility she couldn't really see in the distance. Orbiting the moon while she started to reach out and feel it in the force, it felt wrong and strange while they were moving into orbit of the moon.

THe klaxon's blared on the ship while she was moving and getting down towards the bridge of the ship. Jiang was there and moving with her through the crew. "All hands are at battle ready positions, from the initial scans the facility ahead is warning anything off that the moon is contaminated." She knew that could mean anything but the feeling of wrongness came with the feeling of fear... fear in her body for the first time in a long time while she was moving towards it and the viewscreen displayed someone she had seen only in passing. It was a recording but the ship made sense now and given the datacron she had received from the others on things.

"Quilara." The recording wouldn't be able to respond to her but if she was out here there were only so many reasons... One thought was she was trying to get something but the other was she was trying to protect from something.... Which given her being a wildcard at times usually had the wandering ronin moving towards the shuttle as she spoke. "Runs scans of the moon we will find her and I'll head down. Monitor my vitals and if they start to fail. I want you to ensure this location and all traces of it are wiped as you are getting out of here and not returning understood." There were looks at her from the crew as they nodded and complied with her orders setting the location for the shuttle.

The quick drop down to the moon in the shuttle was a welcomed thing and she grabbed a few extra pieces of gear namely her satchel and glove. THe golden pieces glimmering at the crystal was there in her hand while she was slowly filling it on the way down. her small sigil glowing with the force energy before she was heading now towards an open area they were partially detecting human lifesigns. It wasn't a great looking place as the trees seemed fossilized and ancient, the grass while she was walking through it.. er body tense and at the ready while she was listening to the sounds all around her, the humming of the shields shields to protect it, the crunch underfoot of her boots on the grass and there was the scent in the air of amber and fear.

She didn't know what it was that was in the air while she was walking further searching and seeking with the force. For a moment there seemed to be a presence but then it disappeared almost detecting her. Given who might be down here she didn't doubt she knew how as the sounds of something large coming. There was the wrongness as she came to an edge of a cliff looking out upon a large ruin with a large ring that was glowing and pulsing purple. The sounds and feeling came to her when a large arm appeared with Jiwai looking over it while crouching near a tree getting ready to head down when there was something.

The cracking of a branch and a hand on her shoulder before she turned her head with a hand on the saber. "Stand down Ike." There was a look and she was looking up at the woman standing there in a vest with her sword on her back. One of the few people she knew who actually did wield a large sword had Jiwai nodding her head as she lowered her hand setting it on the ground while her eyes went back to the ring. "Is that a..." She was cut off when the woman spoke. "No not a hypergate like the gree made, an Infinity gate like the Kwa on Dathomir.... Stronger and serves the same purpose as these ones people learned."

She knew about the infinity gates but they were much like the hypergates, destroyed and not functioning since the system was mostly destroyed. She had her attention now though. "What did they do, this feeling in the air." Jiwai was curious looking at the writhing creature's parts going through the ruins and the feeling in the air. "You know wht it is, where Rave and myself with others handled it being summoned the first time and then a second time... These ones weren't able to fight it back. There is more of the creature out of the portal and something is powering it." That Jiwai could suspects as the infinity gates worked with the force while she knew the creature.

"Lotek'k." She said the name and the air seemed to shift while they were moving and jumping off the cliff towards the ruins. Jiwai gliding with the force as Quilara seemed to drop like a stone but was cushioned by the force and the air seemed to thicker almost with the feeling of fear and there was the smell. It was getting to feel like a dangerous place even more while she started walking with the ex sith empress keeping her body ready to fight what creatures they might encounter as her attention was on the different things. That fear in the air had her pressing and trying to keep her mental shields strong even with the sigil that they both had.

The glowing necklaces on them matched as it seemed to be protecting them, mental barriers fortified but not perfect and this was a being that was from before anything they knew. Banished by who knew what from the galaxy and locked away only to be brought forth through hyperspace windows. They were heading inside as her eyes flicked to the stones while she was moving with her attention on the rock, it knocked the stone at them as Jiwai dove to the side and her mental shield dropped for a moment letting a flood of emotion and anxiety come into her. Quilara was moving and clearing an open pathway for them as she climbed up kicking off the ground as she got inside the ruin.

She was moving with Quilara now, looking and they continued forward seeing parts of the ruins were covered in growing jungle. Area's where it hadn't seemed to die out but there was strange color in the trees outside the windows of the temple ruins Jiwai noted while she held a hand up pulling at the ambient light to illuminate the area ahead. A personal flashlight while the wrist charric was ready to be used should anything come out of the shadows at them. Quilara seemed just as tense going forward with more attention on her hand clutching the saber while they entered a room opening it up into a larger chamber.

As soon as she entered the environment changed, the chamber becoming a black void around them and even Quilara was gone while fear washed over her and clung like tar to her body. It made her body move like syrup before she was looking over some of the things there. Feeling the fear there now though she wa looking at the sight of Quilara disappearing as she stood there with a man in a brimmed hat and she was looking over some of it. "Well this is a fine mess you got yourself into isn't it? Still wish you had stayed in that prison cell and not gotten let out?" There was a paling of her face and that was impressive with a pale jedi like her.

Looking at the man as he lifted his head she reached for her saber and it wasn't there on her waist while he was holding it in his hand. The blade of Unaga Ike in her grip before she was moving to try and pull it back but nothing happened. The jedi's mastery of the force and energies something she knew all to well but also in making his enemies doubt themselves before she was moving now when he disappeared. Appearing behind her while he spoke. "Come on now you already know the answer." She was looking at her while moving around to stare with her body reacting and tensed up. "You're not really here, last I heard you had died."

"Yes that is true but you were afraid and there are only so many things a murderer fears. One is the executioner." She looked at her and had to really come to realize it, this wasn't some ghost of Unaga summoned from the afterlife it was in her head talking to her. "Ah now you're getting it." She seemed to almost be smiling and she crossed her arms while the thoughts were going through her head. She was going to have to work on some of the things they had going but she didn't know what was happening and this was meant to delay them getting to the gate and shutting it off before she moved around a little.

"This is meant to keep us away from the gate, from turning it off." She was standing here talking with herself but it was a way to try and gain insight. Her sub conscious would allow her to do much as she was trying to find a solution to getting out of this mess and wondering what had been happening to Quilara or if she was in the same place... trapped in her mind. They needed to get out and Jiwai was looking at Je'gan as the thought of facing her greatest fear was there in front of her or at least one of them while she didn't think she just be able to brute force her way out with the force. "Nope you let the fear in and now it has a hook in you."

"That is getting annoying." She blew a stray strand of hair out of her face. "Don't tell me this is your head Ike. So how do you plan to get out of here?" That was the real question while she was thinking about it. "I am thinking finding a way to face and defeat my fear in you... though killing you won't do anything. If I could it would be simple... No I am thinking of facing this a smarter way to try and bypass the real pain of it all." That might be able to help and she could see the possible reaction on its face but there was nothing there as she moved and her body was loose again, able to move while she pushed the force into herself to calm her mind.

The force washed over her as she was listening to the force over the ones now slowly appearing ion her head. She had faced the real ghosts in the netherworld and dealt with her past sins when training and being taught by the five force priestesses during their trials. She had faced her hubris, seen her temptation of being with her love again and friends... even being adored for her action but that wasn't the jedi way. It was what she needed to do while she was moving forward now letting the past be behind her, the attentions she had now while she focused on the force energies allowing her will to drive out the fear with a scream.

It was like an ice pick was being driven in her skull as the blackness faded first to a harsh light and then slowly shapes started to take form around her. the Vines and the woman standing over her offering a hand as the fog over her vision cleared. A little before she was getting raised up back to her feet. "What happened?" Quilara was looking at her as the woman spoke. "You don't want to know." Her attention was on her though as she wondered what the ex princess had seen or if she had been ensnared by the fear creature. "We can't get up to the gate there is a large slot for a key." She had a moment to think about it and wondered what could happen.

Jiwai waited until the ex princess was ready and then was moving as she held herself up moving through the ruins with the sun starting to filter in and dance with the vines that were over the things. Jiwai came to an obstruction and started clearing it as she pushed energy into the stone around her and was shifting it. The sound of moving earth as below the earth jutted out to the side allowing the obstruction to slide down into the earth to give them an opening as she was controlling the earth shaping to keep the are secured as she walked across and motioned for Quilara to follow. A small smirk on her face as she looked out onto the jungle below them.

She kept going now and felt reinvigorated as she moved along the path and came out, a large central area with another structure below them in a crater almost. The rivulets of waters that were moving around directed before pooling into a moat almost then running out of three powerful and large holes to create a waterfall. running off into the jungle and valley outside it. She could hear it thundering while Jiwai started moving quickly and securing a line for Quilara to take a sled down slower to be safe. She could fly if she slipped and was pushing the energies into the air around her before reaching the bottom.

Jiwai hovered there and made the ending while she had it so Quilara could safely get down without obstruction and have a base area. She used the time for that to study what was there as she noted some images detailing jedi fighting. The destruction of the Cron cluster and a great deal more while she was looking up at the stairs leading to a statue. Beyond the sounds of water booming out of the holes there was silence and Jiwai touched the steps as she looked up towards the symbol displayed before her. She couldn't make it out but started walking up the steps while she heard and felt that familiar sensation.

Out the corner of her eyes she was seeing the five masks for a moment before she lost sight of them and she was moving up the stairs. Her saber was at the ready in case she needed it to defend herself while she reached the top for a moment before she was looking down to see if Quilara had gotten there. She wasn't worried about the safety of her in this since it had been cleared and if the five were there they wouldn't hurt anyone. She knew they served far greater purposes while she was letting her energy flare out and was looking over the stone. She could feel the energy inside and it was covered in ornate writing.

She ran a hand over the words while they glowed just a little as she blew dust away from it and there was more power within it. Jiwai walked around the stone as she searched for an opening and plunged her hand into a hole ignoring the bugs that were crawling over her armored arm and she found it. A lever as she gripped it for a moment and pulled it with the sound of grinding gears, the stone was going into the ground as she moved her hand coming out while she brushed some of the bugs off and went back to looking at the large opening that was revealed. Jiwai grabbed the stone key and held it in her hands.

She wasn't certain what it was for but a temple in the unexplored sections of the galaxy detailing the destruction of the Cron cluster and she could feel the force energy within it while she was moving. Looking down at the bottom of the stairs towards Quilara as she slid the stone key into her pack with the roaring of something coming behind her. Jiwai turned her head to look while there was something else that had been opened showing the outline of a large Leviathan roaring. Chains snapping with a stone slab being lifted up that had trapped it. She was almost blinded by the sun reflecting off the watery moat while she started moving.

"Quilara stay back." She wasn't certain what to really say, running would attract the creature since she would be moving and that would be dangerous as Jiwai was moving now. Her energy flaring out before she was jumping up to spin and threw her z blade that activated with twin white lights slashing into the hide of the beast before it returned to her hand. The solari crystal activating with another white blade that glowed with the force energy before Jiwai came down impacting on its back with the blade slamming and slicing into the blister pods. Jiwai stood up and dug her heels in and started moving with her blade in its back.

She was thinking now, there was a brief moment in time between a leviathan like this waking up and being fully alert where it wouldn't be able to get moving. She needed to use this time to create an opening she could exploit while coming up to the creatures mouth slashing into its tendrils to sever it while she hooked the saber into an eye and brought it down and around to create a gash within its face. The damage seemed superficial as the creature was roaring and she felt it grab her, felt claws digging into the armor as it pierced getting into her shoulder with a warm sensation of blood running on her body in the armor.

Jiwai ground her teeth to not scream but was hoping Quilara was safe and secured as she distracted the creature before curling up and deactivating her saber as it was eating her. Swallowing the petite jedi whole for a moment as she was in its mouth and slashing her z blade into the tongue and throat. he roars coming up as she could feel it moving and Jiwai looking at the black gunk coming from the creature while her pack was on her shoulder and she dug into it with one hand withdrawing a small blade for last minute protection and when there was a thin membrane she stabbed it making a whole into the bile and blood filled cavity.

The creatures chest and body was huge still while she was being covered in blood and gunk but the jedi focused and breathed through the force. The air in her lungs could sustain her for a long while and with practice she had been able to go days even weeks on a single breath. Now she was focused and used the force to guide her through as the sabers deactivated and Jiwai was in an empty cavity for a moment. She could hear the pounding of the creatures heart louder and faster then ever trying to pump blood and keep up with the lose that had happened from the injuries. Jiwai gripped with her sabers a rib getting a scream.

The sound tore through her and reverberated through the creatures body for a moment while she shook her head and her hair was clinging to her face. With no way to wipe it she heard the sounds of the creatures heart and could see it over gunk covered eyes. Jiwai started climbing up the creature from the inside as she plunged the knife into the heart and felt a fresh wash of blood coming over her face. Jiwai kept her eyes closed as her blade hooked in to lift her up with one arm before she grabbed a flap that was moving. Jiwai gripped the heart more as she almost crawling into the heart and was slashing it to get a death gurgle.

She couldn't feel life in the beast but was still trapped inside as she crawled slicing and cutting her way out of the chest cavity and squeezing through some ribs while she was moving out. The jedi breathed in greedily the fresher air as she let out a gasp. The sour air in her lungs being expelled as she plopped down out of the leviathan's chest and saw it had moved a little. She could feel Quilara was there and she even had her equipment pack as she laid on the ground laughing to herself. She was pack up on the raised structure while she looked at some of the creature sprawled across the stairs.

Jiwai didn't try to move at first but she was looking at some of the things in the sky while silver wisps came around her vision before she was moving a little bit and tired. She had said there was nothing to worry about and that was true, she had made enough noise though that Quilara should know it was safe before coming back as Jiwai rolled over and was looking at boots. Her mind foggy for a moment while she was looking up at one of the jedi who she had trained when she was younger. The small atrisian girl who had been wanting to learn how to use a double bladed saber and art of movement. She could hear her speaking.

There was a look on her face and Jiwai recognized her from the realm beyond shadows as one of the ones she had failed to protect. She was leaning down and speaking as the jedi listened and tried to focus. "Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness, bringing torment and pain to others. Oh damned soul, wallowing in your sin... Perhaps... it is time to die." Jiwai clenched her fist at that and refused, she was many things but not going to quit and curl up to die as some seemed to want her to. Her own insecurities coming to the surface while she was crawling little by little to her feet and coughing up blood that wasn't her own.

The fear hung heavy in the air making everything seem tiring and exhausting, her movements laced with the energy expended to try and keep the fear from creeping in again. Her body moving now while Quilara seemed to have been doing more then she had thought. There were other things here, almost like large bugs with armor that had become different weapons which had the jedi padawan wheezing a little before she was moving now with her hands on her sabers. The blades activating as she could see more of the charon coming out of the ruins across from them. Quilara was a tank and her sword cleaved one in half as Jiwai moved.

Letting the force guide her movements while she was slicing through it, the stone key in her back and Quilara almost back to back with her blades slicing into one of them as Jiwai went to that place with her brain shutting off. For the moment she wasn't facing dangerous beasts she was in the moment allowing the force to move and guide her hands over her brain thinking it over and slowing her reaction times. They were moving back towards the large stone doorway that needed the key Quilara had found while Jiwai surged forward with one blade slashing into a leg while the other stuck out with her body corkscrewing to slash more into them.

Her foot touched the ground before she was still moving with the force, the motion important and keeping her ground into the speed of it all. The power of the force emanating from her sigil before once again she jumped boot coming up behind the blade as she cleave with the woman behind her. The claymore catching under her boots as Quilara pushed her up higher into the air over one of the charon slicing off a section of his head. They were making their way back and up the pathways while the creatures poured through. Jiwai deactivating on of the blade while she threw it and the twin white blades activated with a snap hiss.

She kept the blades attached for a moment before she detached them and both her and ashin went up the middle while the sabers sliced and cleaved through the pathways above them. Keeping them protected and cleared for them before Jiwai rolled and Quilara used her like a ramp to launch into the air letting black tendrils of lightning escape her hands before Jiwai came up following suit. Purple pink electric judgement arcing out of her gloved hand as it stunned for the kill from Quilara before her claymore cleaved and batted them away. Jiwai sent a wave of force energy into the walkway launching them up towards her blade until they entered the ruins.

The disc blade came back to her hand as she caught it and set it back on her hip allowing more energy to come out while she was running with Quilara back towards the large door with the sound of a thousand clawed feet on the stone. Quilara led the charge breaking through a wall with the force almost making a distorted shell of armor it looked like when she lept up grounding herself. For a moment becoming an immovable object of a tank and an unstoppable force with force speed guiding her movement. Then there was a crash and dust was heavy in the air while Quilara rolled making a Charon explode from her impact.

The woman rolled on the ground and popped up in a fluid motion as Jiwai followed an it was her turned leaping up with the force as she flew high pulling Quilara and letting jets of flame propel from her just a jump onto the roof of the chamber they had started in. Getting up higher while both of them rolled Jiwai brought her saber up slashing a spear from a charon as Quilara smashed into the room. With all the excitement of the battle now they were moving down into the hole Jiwai tossing the key to Quilara as the woman ran towards the doorway slapping the key in and getting the ancient gears to turn and open.

With the grinding of stone on stone while they stood there and waited for it to get down far enough to get through and grab the key. Before they could get up to them and through Jiwai lept as Quilara followed grabbing the key and leaving it to be smashed in the stone or hold it as they had a moment of repreave to be careful and relax... Well not relax but she was moving now with Quilara and the sense of fear was far stronger before she was moving with her attention on the pulsing and humming of energy that came from them. She didn't want to deal with the danger of destroying a gate but they needed to get it off first as the two went running.

Jiwai then saw it, the large creature and all of its horrendous look while she was looking at Quilara as the two prepared to face the massive creature. "If you can distract it I can get to those control crystals and deactivate the gate. We'll be able to at least sever part of it from wherever it is coming from and that will hurt it." There was a look of agreement was there while Quilara went off to fight the massive beast or distract it at least long enough to shut down the gate down while Jiwai was moving. The lightside of the force feeling very small with all of this darkness around but the robes were there as she activated the energy shield and took to the air to the side of the gate.

She as moving and this close to the gate Jiwai could feel the creature and her hands were working on the force to try and deactivate it as she could feel it and understand. It was tied into the death of everything here that had been killed and whatever there was she couldn't just deactivate it as she had planned. Trying to remember how best to handle it while her body was fighting to maintain its control, the fear was like a thick ocean wanting to simply crush her but she could still move while focusing the force energies into her hands while she pushed to create tiny balls of kinetite. Their forms of compressed kinetic energy distorting the area above her palms.

Jiwai raised her hands as she brought them down, the balls of energy smashing into the ring as the first smash cracked it and then slowly it was bending inwards. There were screams from the creature while it was fighting Quilara off to the side and Jiwai kept it up. Raising her arms again to direct it down and into the ring until it pierced it and she held the glove out. Palm open with massive amount of force energy leaking out in lashes almost like a solar flare. Jiwai started absorbing it as it touched the glove with her force letting the crystal charge up in one hand while the other created a large ball of Kinetite above her.

The larger ball she smashed down while the gate seemed to shudder and then there was a blast as she felt the force move into the center first with an intense pull towards the center of the ring and then it was pushing back hard. Jiwai was preparing to be smashed against a wall as Quilara grabbed her and went down towards the ground as she seemed to glow with force barrier and had them both withstanding the blast. The infinity gate detonating in a force explosion that ripped and she could feel obliterating the charon while the wormhole to wherever it was vanished as Jiwai grabbed Quilara and pushed the force energy from the battery in her and what she could into her.

The barrier shimmered and the more energy kept it strong as the blast she thought was reading like a supernova until it was over and everything was silent. Quilara standing above her while they looked at each other and rose up seeing the ruins were obliterated as well as everything else around them before she was walking and limping. The gateway destroyed and the two of them limping away as Jiwai looked at the thing twitching. "It isn't still alive is it?" She didn't know what the woman was going to say but she felt a hand on her shoulder slapping it. "We'll nuke it from orbit, only way to be sure it and the other things are completely dead."

Well that sounded like a plan and going back towards the shuttle the sensation of fear was gone at least for now. "Well I suppose whatever was in the map was lost, what was it that brought you all the way out here?" Now Quilara made sure she was sitting on the ramp of her shuttle before moving and using her sword like a walking stick. "Oh you know exploring, saving the day and finding new things or people to fight.... Still none as good as the legendary Unaga." That got a small chuckle from her while she was to sore to move now laying back. "I'll just be right here, wake me when we get back to the ship."

Quilara wasn't coming with her but the human replica droid managed to get her in as the two shuttles evacuated the planet and targeted the ruins launching tactical strikes on what remained of the terror from beyond. Jiwai saying goodbye to Quilara while she laid there in the room looking things over and watching her vitals while Quilara departed in her ship letting the two ships pass in the galaxy exploring the different and dangerous routes while Jiwai was heading off towards another set of coordinates to try and find what she could. The holocrons and maps she had managed to unlock and have worth what danger both known and unknown were out here.

Sawa sat up in her bed. After the garden with Ni-Ne she had run back to her room... scared and gasping and locked the door so no one would be able to get in there and talk with her. She didn't want to see anyone... she didn't want to risk Ni-Ne seeing her nervous and scared in this moment. She had.. shie had tried to kiss her.. she had kissed her... scared and lonely after what happened with Midori who had seen her and had a lok on her face more of indifference. Sawa didn't know what to do but she wanted to crawl back to her and not have news of her dishonor for her family by being thrown out of her duties.

"Sawa." THe knock on the door as Midori was there, Akiko opening it and covering the door before the princess was looking at her. "I saw what happened... did that little girl try and reward you for what you did?" She was still so beautiful and so angry but Sawa wiped at her eyes and remained there sitting up in her bed. Midori came over and sat down next to her. "I am sorry though, I was angry and I well I overreacted... I realize I was acting more like a petty child in front of her and wanted her to cry or go away." She said it and offered a hand touching it as Sawa flinched and looked with eyes down cast.

"You... you mean it?" Sawa was looking up at her and there was a nod of MIdori's head as she looked over at her. "Yes I did... I shouldn't have stooped to the level I did but I did so I am sorry Sawa." Sawa looked at her as Midori moved forward and wrapped her arms around hershoudlers. Kissing her cheek and Sawa buried her face in her hair. "Thank you Midori." There was a look.... "Ah ah ah my princess. We will always be friends Sawa... our parents are friends and I know many things have been getting done but I want you to remember that... I care about you. Maybe more then I shall since it is expected we both marry important political figures but we'll always have each other.

Sawa just hugged her and listened nodding her head when she smiled ot herself. Midori staying for an hour until she and Akiko snuck away in the dark. She laid there on her side and the astormech droid with her beeped. "Oh I don't know.. Midori is someone I have known for so long. We grew up together but she can be difficult and jealous. She is a princess... she gets what she wants. But Ni-Ne herself is proud and honorable.. beautiful in ways that... and so easy to talk with." The droid looked at her. "I'll explain later go to sleep." The droid was looking at her but complied as Sawa was going back to sleep and woke up on the weekend. They had free time for the day to relax and enjoy the activities around the academy.

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Everything Ni-Ne suspected about Midori was confirmed as soon as she started speaking, including that incredibly insulting riff on her name. Ni-Ne did not react to it, as she was well aware Midori was attempting to bait her. Her face remained impassive, even as she felt an unexpectedly dark, building rage her father had always stressed was dangerous to listen to as she watched Midori kiss Sawa like she was a trophy instead of an equal. It was not the way of the Modern House Li-Ves to strike at the first insult. Or the second. Or the third.

As she watched the Head Prefect go along with the kiss, likely more out obligation than desire, Midori than viciously taunted her about what she already knew. At this Ni-Ne was forced to act genuinely surprised, widening her eyes at the statement, letting her mouth drop open and her body take a step back in surprise. But she said nothing in turn. No need to give Midori ammo. Ni-Ne felt the urge to deck her. And would have, if not for the fact she would have instantly failed her mission in doing so.

But only when Sawa spoke up only to be scarred by Midori, only then did Ni-Ne's stare go from stoic to openly disdainful, which quickly transitioned into a very, very unpleasant death glare at Midori and Akiko when Sawa was violently shoved in her direction. Ni-Ne caught her as the little brat then basically told Sawa her life was going to be destroyed.

Spoiled Imperial Trash! Ni-Ne thought, still unable to say it to Midori's face, lest she fail her father's task, forced only to watch as Midori walked away, Akiko giving a little smirk as she walked behind her. Ni-Ne's right hand was clenched into a fist, knuckles white with fury at the arrogance displayed. And Sawa...poor Sawa.

Ni-Ne should never have gone near her. She'd screwed everything up for the poor woman, everything that mattered. And then hit on top of that.

Ni-Ne felt more helpless than ever. She held Sawa, fully cognizant of the damage her presence had caused. But there was nothing she could do.

"Sawa...Sawa I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I brought this on..."

Ni-Ne's eyes widened as she felt the peck on her neck.

Oh no oh no oh no oh no what do I do? her mind raced, getting a bad adrenaline spike as she held Sawa close, not wanting to put her under Midori's wrath any further, but not wanting to reject Sawa's desperate need for closeness. It registered just how alone Sawa was. How alone they both were.

How corrupt Atrisia was.

Ni-Ne continued to hold Sawa close. Not daring to do any further. From the looks of it, it sounded like Midori wasn't done with her. Typical abusive pattern. Fear and coercion. Maybe Sawa wasn't quite done after all. But she could not help her.

Later on...

Ni-Ne had drifted through her classes, paying attention, but not too closely, making out where the hidden cameras were. They were cleverly hidden, some in clock faces, others disguised as parts of fire suppression systems, and after sge and Sawa had parted, ways, Ni-Ne had been left to try and case the place. But the impending ruin of her family lingered over everything. At least Midori had been wrong about one thing--Ni-Ne wasn't going to be married off to anybody after her stunt.

She had never known what had happened to her mother or her vessel. The government had been so hush-hush about it, and there was the very real threat of disgrace once it did.

But that ship...and her mother...had been missing a long time, and Ni-Ne got the feeling that whoever was on that vessel now, they would not obey a command to commit Seppuku. Not with a ship like that. Ni-Ne certainly would not have.

The young woman, clad in the white academy kimono, also mulled over the options she had. She didn't even know where the restricted records were, and she could not very well ask without raising a number of red flags. She needed a map. And she had one place where it might be found...the Academy Security Office located deeper in the complex. She had seen that large section going between classes. Many of the Yovshin checked in and out of there. And after evening came, they were the only ones there. Ni-Ne began making plans...plans to breach it. After her history class had ended, she had surreptitiously walked past the office, a large, three story structure built into the mountain itself. A boxy, off white camera was pointed at a reinforced entrance, with two Yovshin standing by the entrance at all times. Ni-Ne could disrupt the camera, but the Yovshin were the real problem.

She started to look for the necessary parts she required. As she had a thing for gadgets, she had also enrolled in a minor engineering class. They had most of the electronics required to get inside, and she had quietly nabbed a spare circuit or two, batteries, all quietly, as she had moved about the class, all to construct what she needed. The necessary emitters were easily constructed from scrap. After classes, she had spent a lot of time alone in her dorm, constructing it with purloined tools. Then she had reached for the ornate clock, twisted a knob, and popped open an expertly hidden pannel on the back, revealing a few vials of tranquilizer, mild amnestics, darts and a blow-dart pipe to fire them from. A small spike had been included.

Her hands shook as she finished creating the minor emp device, a skeletal, spherical, gray object haphazardly run through with wires and other circuits. Slapdash, and good for only a single use. She had to get it right. But this was not the night to do it. She had no proper disguise if she got spotted.

Hiding the spherical object after disassembling it (It was mainly held together with copper wires) she stored it and went to sleep, wondering where to get the disguise from...

Later on...

Ni-Ne ran through darkened, black woods in fear, the dark creature behind her giving pursuit.

She ran, bleeding in her white academy kimono, nearly blind with horror. The shadow pursued through woods that seemed to loom over her, but there was no escape...not from that.

She wanted out of this place, out of this hell, but there was no escape from her doom, no respite and no mercy from what was coming. And soon, on the little dirt trailed road she ran on it came to a dead stop...

Ni-Ne stared in horror at what lay beyond.

The city of jade burned below her, its men and women lying dead yet missing their shadows. Even the shadows created from the fires of burning buildings seemed to avoid the area around them. Some were burned and flayed. But everyone was missing their shadows. Even the younglings.

Ni-Ne wanted to vomit at the horrifying place the woods had led her.

"It is our destiny..."

Ni-Ne slowly turned around, going still as she watched the wraith that had pursued her pause a few meters from her. Ni-Ne could not see the face, only the bright gold irises under a black hood. She was tall, her curved figure hidden by the volumes of a flowing black kimono with black flame embroidery on its surface. A long, serrated Katana, about thirty five inches in length was clutched in its right hand.

The wraith hovered off the ground, never touching it.

"It is your destiny..." the creature whispered with a hiss. "Atrisia must be judged. Its ways are the ways of the wicked. They must pay. They must all pay..."

It held out a hand. Ni-Ne stumbled backward., tripped. It floated towards her at high speed and...

...and she woke up, cupping a hand over her mouth so her horrid scream wouldn't travel. She had washed dressed, and fastened her very black hair with pins as she went to look for Sawa. She needed the distraction. Instead, she spotted Akiko, smiling at her as she walked through the passage.

It was a nasty feeling that washed over her staring, but she hid it well behind a mask of stoicism, as she headed down to academy grounds. Akiko had obviously been sent as a taunt. Or intimidation. Neither of which would hold her back from her duty.

As Akiko passed by her, Ni-Ne's rage curdled over yesterdays antics. But not now. It was humiliating to hold back after the gross insults. Ni-Ne didn't even understand quite 'why' she wanted to hurt Akiko and her master over Sawa...she had just met her only two days before...

Ni-Ne had just entered an academy trail, going down to the stables, she heard a scream abd went running, a horrible sense of forboding in her chest as she ran.

When she came across a crowd of students gathered around a corpse, she heard small snippets of remarks. One in particular caught her attention.

She slowly drew forward, saw Investigator Oba standing over the corpse of a student.

The student had no shadow, even though there was plenty of light.

"Everyone stand back! This is now an active crime scene." Oba ordered everyone. "Did anyone se where this man last was?"

Ni-Ne's dread from the dream returned...

There was a commotion, Sawa could hear it and she was moving now. outside of the dorms as she stood in the black kimono going to her ankles, floral designs of a lotus flower in gold stitching, red cuffs and ends emblazoned with dancing dragons. Sawa herself was checking out a few of the other parts, her geta were on, the wood smooth and carved from ebony to match her kimono. She had scented oils in her hair, the smell of jasmine and rain, the small silver bells that were there. Underneath in the small mass of it. To jingle as she was walking but it wouldn't be seen when the head prefect came and stood there looking down at the body for a moment.

There was something almost sinister about it as she got a look from Oba and spoke turning around and holding her hands out. "That is enough please head back to your rooms while they are handling this." Sawa looked around and breathing in deeply she saw Ni-Ne and didn't fully know what she was going to do about it. THeir interactions had been... guarded. The though that she might have ruined something of a friendship was important. She didn't want to harm it, she didn't know what might be said but she stopped there looking at her and breathed in a little quickly. "Please all of your head back." She looked at Ni-Ne and pleaded with her eyes.

The fortress of the Dawn was an important place as Unaga stood and they had survived. She had at one point pulled herself out of a pile of bodies, armored, bleeding, dismembered.... covered and choking on blood that wasn't hers but the blade gleamed still sharp. Still ringing true until she stood with her commander. Holding a shield as the bear insignia was shown. They were friends, loyal members who had served house Ike and by extension the empire itself. They were steadfast had been with them since long ago even aiding in acts some might not fully understand. Unaga was seeing reports coming in from the other fortresses and locations.

"There have been attacks across the region, some as far as Leng." She heard her commander while she walked and stood there over looking some of the survivors. They were not exactly the most talkative. THe one who was the closest to being in charge she knew by reputation. From the Yovshin. Half jaw wasn't just a sort of nickname as the section of his jaw that had been cleaved off by a katana was a mass of scars. Half of his teeth were missing and he had scars over one eye. Still Unaga stood there looking at him as he sat up defiantly watchign her with his one good eye. "I hear you don't wish to speak and would rather we take your head."

She didn't make it a question he just spat at her as she was moving to watch him. To the side and there were a few others as she withdrew the blade. Gleaming silver, engraved with designs and the sword of the dawn. The sword of house Ike looked silver and perfect. The edge never one to dull and it pulsated with the force itself. From their family as she moved peering down at him and in a clean stroke. The sound within the air and the silent fortress almost echoed until she was looking down at the others and they were brave. Some had managed to escape but the fortress was ancient... the deepest vaults locked away where no one could find them.

Sawa had spent the time working to clean things up... looking where she could here and within the school for them. She was moving to meet Ni-Ne and there was talk about something from the headmaster. She had been called to his office and told the news. Something had changed and she was being sent with another student deper into the mountain. Mostly they were heading towards the Jade Gate, once used to narrow and as a chokepoint against the ancient enemies of Atrisia. it was nearly impossible to bypass if you were approaching from the south as the dragon's bones jutted higher and higher into the sky.

Ni-Ne had been the one person she trusted with this, one person she knew could protect herself with a nod of her head. The headmaster was sitting there at the desk. Watching them while the two girls could be in there with them. "I wouldn't normally do this but you are two of the brightest even you Ni-Ne while still being new to this school. The Emperor has asked to make this something of an experience so you are going to the Celestial City or with a diplomatic pouch." Sawa watched him and she had learned to read his expressions. He was nervous about something and possible attacks here might prove something.

"But no one in the schol ventures that deep into the mountain... the ancient gate has been sealed since before... before the empire. The Sea-Green Empress had it sealed after the silver sea was destroyed." Or the legend went, as it retrested it left only the celestial bay, a channel that fed into a river and went past the ancient city far away. Sawa knew the history but there was more of a chance to it, she could get some time away and a chance to explore the ancient mysteries of the academy here... she had been told by her mother something was happening and the chance to look at areas no one had seen since before.... it was an exciting idea.

"Yes she did, but there are ways around it, the Ruby Gate, a place of legend we have always known about. We have always used to send small groups through and you are trustworthy,Ni-Ne's family one of the most honorable and respected when it comes to combat. She will serve as your bodyguard as even two capable women on the road can still be dangerous. Where you are going marauders and worse dwell. We have still never been able to restrain those primitive horse lords on the open field." Sawa understood and there was also the whole get some out of the school if there were attacks. "What about Midori, surely this would be a perfect diplomatic mission for her?"

She asked it and the man spoke. "The princess is attending to duties of her own for her father. You may hear rumors but don't give into idle gossip, something has changed at the court and it requires that the princess head back to go and visit Xianlong with her sisters. It seems a potential suitor for her has come of age and if they can be set up properly then she'll be wed and we'll have overtaken the province without another war." Sawa looked at him and then gave a bow of her head to that... news that they might bring the host and province of XIanlong... of another under the empire proper... it was a big thing and Sawa clasped her hands.

"This trip for us could take weeks even months, the ancient city is far and dangerous.... most don't even know the way to it and it goes through the garden of bones." Where she was looking on the map, the massive mountains where they were rose but beyond that it was more fields and desert almost, flat open areas you could see ruined cities. Where the horselords and others who sought to be free roamed. The great river that connected them to some of the ancient cities across the way would all serve to them. She had a map and they would be able to go through the mountains themselves. "We'll need to get supplies then."

She got only a nod and Ni-Ne she hoped would agree to go with her on this endeavor... with investigations into the attack and murder they would have to go around and would be in danger... maybe if they weren't there it would be found. "Please Ni-Ne, I know it isn't the greatest idea.. or well most thought out but if you would go with me... we could explore and see places not many get to go to. No one has been to the ancient city that I know... some have barely been around the wastes and the garden of bones. All of that history from the past and there could be anything happening out there for us."

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
After the body had been discovered, Ni-Ne had been quick to surreptitiously observe the body. No wounds. Death had come sudden and too quickly to react. He'd likely been dead before he had hit the ground. Sea poisons did that. Father had forbidden his children from taking seashells directly from the beach for this reason: Too often they hid some small creature, which delivered an amount of poison so small it had to be seen with a microscope--that was none the less instantly fatal.

That still did not explain the missing shadow.

"It's just like in one of the cities last month..." one of the students whispered to another in earshot of her. "The Shadow Demons hace claimed him."

Oba looked up having caught wind of the whisper also.

"There are no such things as shadow demons. That is superstition fit for peasantry, not the Empire's finest." Oba warned with a glare

The student held his head down. "Forgive me, Investigator Oba!"

Ni-Ne didn't know about that guy, but if shadow demons made the most sense...might as well run with it.

But what about that dream? That strange, horrid dream? Was it just stress?

Ni-Ne was intelligent but superstitious. There were many mysterious things about Atrisia. Many things that did not make sense if you really took a step back and looked. Dark corners of the world that should not be there but were. Corners that led to further unexplained things that were perhaps best left undiscovered. Ancient forts and cities, now thought lost, whose construction defied what should have been possible for civilization. Evil spirits hiding in lakes and caves and forests, tunnels that led to underground societal remains. But no one questioned this. Ni-Ne had long suspected this was because too much of society was frightened to ask. Maybe they had a point. Perhaps the answer would be too frightening.

Ni-Ne had spent much of the morning afterward quietly observing and memorizing where every checkpoint was, and what systems they used in each checkpoint, along with how many guards in each section. Penetrating this place at night under any condition would be a terrible risk.

It was then that another school prefect directed her towards the Headmaster's office. And she got the worst news she could have possibly gotten. The Headmaster's office was a stern looking yet smoothly curving room filled with thick books and relics from the academy's foundation. Its colors were various shades of green and brown, and the headmaster himself was a short, balding little man in green magistrate robes.

They wanted her to go with Sawa on a journey to the Jade Gate. That would take weeks. More than that. The Sacred Ancestor would arrive within a month. She needed the schematics from the security office. She needed them badly. The theft had to occur tonight.

There could be no delays. Except one.

"I will need at least a day to prep to leave." Ni-Ne confirmed stoically, though she gave a small smile at [member="Sawa Ike"]. She could not give away just how badly she was freaking out. Breaking in from within had been the most optimal plan Father could come up with, and even now the chance of its succeess was so negligible as to not even be worth mentioning. Breaking in, from without...it was impossible.

How could she get back here in time for its arrival?

Ni-Ne realized she'd have to steal a space vessel. This was harder than it sounded. The Emperor strictly controlled offworld travel. Even the nobility could not get a vessel most of the time. Couldn't have a franchise starting elsewhere. It would defeat the purpose of keeping everyone under lock and key here.

The Headmaster nodded. "Of course, Lady Li-Ves. We would be more than happy to accomodate you.

"My Family's clock will be transported along as well?"

The Headmaster nodded. "But of course."

Ni-Ne, nodded, staring out of a window into the vast green and rocky daggers pointing into the sky. Atrisia was in even more danger now. Her missions chances may have just gone to zero.

She needed to find a way to get a space vessel while out there. Fly it back to Kagamiri...somehow...

"Very well then. Sawa? Would you join me for Tea in my quarters?" Ni-Ne asked. "There are things about the trip we need to discuss."

As she said all this, it finally filtered in just how beautiful Sawa looked. Ni-Ne felt her stomach flutter as her sharp blue eyes blinked and she suddenly recalled the kiss on her neck Sawa had given her. Ni-Ne was unfamiliar with growing crushes, how they worked, and more importantly, was so unfamiliar with the idea of actually deciding to like the kiss she simply lacked the vocabulary to describe her sudden overwhelming urge to seize the Ike girl and kiss her, right in front of Midori. Though it would surely draw her wrath. Ni-Ne would not care. She was probably going to be dead when this was over. She still did not understand why she would want to start the end by kissing Sawa, however.

Ni-Ne bowed and headed for her quarters. She had to draw Sawa into it now. There was no other way. Sawa would ask to many questions that Ni-Ne was not clever enough to answer: 'Ni-Ne, what in the blazes are you doing with the academy map?' 'Ni-Ne, what are you doing with all these EMP electronics?' 'Ni-Ne, why are you planning to break into our beloved Imperial academy?'

Ni-Ne would...try to get around to explaining it.

After Tea...

Sawa was listening to it, she was making a plan in her head about what they might need to do and taking her family cloak on such a trip seemed... well odd but also dangerous. THey would be back, they could use chrono couldn't they? She wanted to say something but not in front of the head master as they were finishing up. with older maps and everythign that they had been working on here. Not that she was going to complain about it granted she was bringing K1 with her... her mother and father had sent her that droid and it would be needed for something she just knew it. The astromech droid might not be well the most useful but they were advancing.

Sawa finished up here, resolving to go and talk with Ni-Ne over tea in her room. They should be able to handle that at least and she was uncertain about what Ni-Ne was going to do or what she was planning but Sawa had prepared herself for a possibility. One of several scenarios.... at least that many that she could think of before she was moving out of the office itself. Stoping to see one fo the Investigators from her mother and Oda who were standing there and discussing it. He stopped looking at her and motioned to the side to speak with the girl. She bowed going to the side and a small alcove he looked down at her.

"There has some an incident, your mother was attacked at the Fortress of Dawn while other attacks have been happening across the region. The Emperor's court is saying his sister has corrupted the Tiantai into attacking him." Sawa looked up and the Tiantai were well they were legendary.. hard to realy describe the people who were supposed to be far older... the first people and yet unlike others they didn't claim to be first or important. They were said to stay in their temples, consorting and being around their old gods.. the first gods of Atrisia who controlled wind and water, earth and trees. They didn't care about petty family squabbles.

"THat seems.... why would they?" SHe asked it out of place but was standing there for a moment when he spoke. "I do not know but you will need to be careful, you have been trained well Sawa, your father taught you much in combat and your mother is the smartest woman I have ever met so with their skills you should be more then careful but there is a reason why our people when they were crossing the mountains didn't look back. There are things in those mountains, ancient things that are better left forgotten and..." He trailed off looking to the side. "And there is more then what even the legends say.. some places so dark they tried to erase them."

Sawa wanted to know more but Oda didn't offer much more instead giving her a small scroll that he motioned she needed to hide. In her kimono's sleeve before she was leaving. He headed off towards a small pair of the investigators but she could feel a note around the scroll and it was more recent as she cleared the office going outside onto a balcony. She could look down from the top of the mountain itself and she was withdrawing the note for herself. Reading it over quickly and then getting rid of it as she tore it up quickly before tossing it casually into the wid. her mothers words were important but there was also Oda and her father.

'Sawa be careful, there are greater dangers in the Nhai mountains then just a city of the dead, the oldest caves were said to be connected in massive sections going over Yeem the lightless sea. Those who when our people were coming over stayed behind or were lost... they wre discovered still alive in a fashion. Abominations feasting off the flesh of each other and the dead. Fornicating with animals or worse things to stay warm in the winter months. There are talks of ancient and forgotten ruins that were still standing within but were darker and more twisted then what even scholars believed.' Sawa was looking over at it though.

'There is more, your mother won't say it but something is happening... something you should be aware of. There are older things in the mountains yes but there are also new things. The Emperor has been trying to mine the resources of it in secret, to expand but also to fill his treasury of the gems and gold within the hills. We hiave had to put down slave uprisings in the past, those who might be a problem but these ones are being left sealed up so that they can't reveal the goings on after they complete their work.' That she was understanding now and getting a more clear idea of what could be a potential problem.. if they had to get around camps and people... would be more difficult.

Sawa was letting the rest of the day pass in relative ease, Ni-Ne needed to get ready and so did she while she was standing there in the room. Loading up what she needed to and would be able to use within her pack. Kimono's that were thicker lined in case of cold and some fo the more summer ones. Thin but still concealing for summer or the hotter weather. Some swimming and survival supplies for the risk they may have to cross rivers or bathe. She had a number of survival supplies with the packs but over all she had tried to make sure it was lighter to be able to move swiftly. She had a few ideas of what else to bring defense wise.

"I'll have to see what Ni-Ne is bringing KOne." She said it and the small astromech was there by her side beeping and wooping before it thrilled and the choro it had built in clicked down. It was time to go and meet Ni-Ne for tea... which would only end hopefully a good way. They would need something defensive and she looked towards the blade on the side of her bed. She didn't need it she had been granted it and the Emperor had deemed she could keep it given the status of the blade. Wusashi the sword of the dawn. A blade that didn't pass from heir tp heir but more from the hands of the worthy. THe most with honor.

Sawa touched it and the blade itself was not unlike the jeweled steel their blades and equipment had been made of but it was not. It was metal from the stars, found at Bei Xi and forged into a blade the color of milk glass. white and silver with a polished smoothness to it that reflected the light and even images almost perfectly. She had it and slid it back into the sheath... letting her hands touch the pearl hilt. Something few others really understood or thought possible... or would wonder how and why. The legends say a single pearl formed the hilt and had been shaped by the house in the before times when unification had not happened.

She looked at K1 when he moved and rammed her a little to get going.. he had taken a liking to Ni-Ne... maybe because she seemed to like some fo the technical things when she secured her blade.... wore her hair up into a tight ponytail that then went into a top knot to expose her shoulders and neck while still keeping bangs out fo her face. Pale skin that she covered in scented oils, vanilla, jasmine, rose, spices and the scent of amber and rain. All of it mingled together to create a wonderful scent for her to roam around in. Her kimono was seductive to a point, shorter skirt that exposed her ankles but stopped just below her knees.

The obi wasn't as stiff and more loose fitted over the shorter sleeved silks of the kimono and it looked casual and comfortable as opposed to hyper traditional. Her eyes were looking at everything there in the mirror when she used some of the make up and stepped into her geta. The small wooden shoes letting her move quickly down towards the room where Ni-Ne was. K1 followed behind her and was whistling to himself and to her as Sawa looked at him with a glare. "NO we are not in a tree." She said it and stopped smacking his dome before she knocked on the door and spoke. "Ni-Ne it is Sawa ah you offered tea."

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne, after leaving the office had headed back to her quarters, spotting a protocol droid dressed in the robes of a scholar, red in color.

"Ah, Lady Li-Ves." The droid called out in its mechanically pleasant voice. "When you and Lady Ike were selected for this assignment, a dispatch was sent to your Father's estate. Your personal weapon and protective equipment has been delivered to your quarters. Also, Two additional items have been delivered to your personal care by Dignitary Albrecht Bo."

Ni-Ne raised a brow in curiosity. "Who?"

"The visiting Jedi Master to Atrisia. He ordered these items delivered to you personally. As the boxes are under diplomatic seal, Atrisian officials were forbidden to open them. I have no idea what might be inside."

Ni-Ne nodded to the droid. "Thank you."

Ni-Ne headed into her quarters, finding a familiar, long, wooden box in cherry red, like the tree blossoms on her estate. She went over and flipped it open, pulling out an all red hilt and sheath with the face of a Tiger in silver on the pommel.

She pulled the sheath off the blade. The metal was a dark red color. It was twenty five inches in length, heavier than other blades in the same category. She had asked why and was told it was durasteel mixed with something called Cortosis. It was beyond razor sharp. Thousand-Handed Titan had been in the family a long time.

She spotted her dark red combat robes, form fitting red Aeian Silk and dyed in norris root extract. Constructed without unnecessary loose fabrics, allowing for maximum movement in battle.

She then turned her attention to the other two packages. One was in a long white metal box, the other, a small box the size of a brick, also white.

Ni-Ne opened the long box first, pulling out a double-edged vibro sword, whose metal was a reflective, golden color, joined to a pearlescent hilt bearing the symbol of the Jedi Order on it. Thick sword. Nice heft to it. Ni-Ne then opened the other box. It was a datapad. Ni-Ne activated it, pulling off a note that read "So you don't get yourself killed doing anything foolish."

She gasped as she saw a map of the whole facility in one section of its contents. Not a shoddy one either...the actual technical blueprints.

She checked the other contents of the pad, breath going still when she saw things discussing Jedi Sorcery. She put the pad down, trembling at the implication, remembering she had to get ready for Sawa and got changed, switching to a blood red kimono from home, applying a cinnamon-scented perfume to herself, preparing a small meal of rice cakes and lightly grilled eel. The tea was a heavy cinnamon flavor, poured into blood red china teacups from home, no handles.

For reasons she could not explain, she undid her hair from its tight bun, pulling out her hair sticks and letting her very black hair fall on her shoulders as she put up her weapons and...aid...

The meal was prepared and set on small trays on a designated area of the floor next to a small, decorative fountain. [member="Sawa Ike"] was suddenly at the door. Ni-Ne did not know how she knew that but she did as she went and bid Sawa in, smelling tge jasmine, feeling a strange mellowing in her chest as Ike entered her quarters.

Only one topic was truly on her mind for some reason, despite her hopeless mission.

"Has your...situation...improved?" she asked awkwardly, hoping Ike would pick up she was asking about Midori's horrid abuse, which still made Ni-Ne's blood boil violently at how she had made Ike cry. And then scratched her. She silently mouthed the words "They've got this place bugged Sawa. Don't give away your awareness of it."

"The Journey to the Jade Gate...I'd like to know exactly what you are skilled at. It could save our lives.

Gods I want to kiss her. she thought impulsively. Her blue eyes studied Sawa's frame, trying not to look 'too' interested.

Sawa Ike

"Yes." She said it quickly while drinking the tea. Midori and her were calmer as it were she didn't know what to fully think about it. The situation was something she could be uncertain about before she was looking at her though. "I do now know what to do about it though." Sawa said it and looked around with her eyes flicking trying to see anything but Ni-Ne's eyes. She didn't want to look at them as she felt..... like she just wanted to kiss her again or at the least she wanted to embrace her. They were going on a dangerous mission and there was any number of untold dangers that could be waiting for them within the facility and within the mountains. Then traveling the regions beyond were scary.

"I am... I have been trained to use a sword and defend myself. My family is many things and we know how to fight but we are artists, traders and in some ways merchants. We have Bei Xi as our home." She said it with msome pride, the White Pearl was renowned for its wealth, the jade bank, its trading port. The shadow city that had grown behind its thick curtain wall against storms. Its bridges and taxes yes but they were fair and giving a portion to a few things here and there. "We used the wealth from there to build the fortress palace of Seito." ANother place fabaled across Atrisia for well for it reputation of never falling in a battle. She knew the legend that a million soldiers threw themselves against the gates but couldn't breach it and the chasm below was filled with their bones.

Sawa though did offer a bigger smile to Ni-Ne though her hand coming out to mostly touch her shoulder. Gently at first but she let it linger less for attention and more because she wanted to convey how sincere she was and thankful. Sawa was looking at some things. "We have a long standing history with the royal family and military, usually the second child joins for service or joins the Yovshin and so on. Third goes to the government," She said it though but spoke. "THough I might not be the most useful in a fight, I only really know how to defend with my katana Musashi." SHe was looking at her though and took another drink of tea.

She had finished it when she sat there across from Ni-Ne and pulled a map out of her kimono, laying it out with the seal of the emperor and all of the information she could get. "These are the maps from the Jade Empress, recreated and preserved as it were from her first scouts who made the most detailed drawings and indications of where everythign is. With it we should be able to get through the mountain and then through some fo the passes to the other side. Based on what it is marked as this could day days of travel even by horseback and there is many twisting paths, some rivers and springs we can go to. THe mountains stretch across the entire continent going north and south but east to west they are only eight thousand kilometers."

Sawa siad it and it was a massive distance that she could see why the idea of ten thousand clans walking it and being led seemed fantastical but ti was also a lovely story told by Murasaki. The tales of it showed endurance and that they were well a strong people. Sawa herself was happy to go over the plan through the night with Ni-Ne and spend hours with it, with her and with this tea. She was smiling throughout the night just wanting to make sure they had all fo the details for themselves ready. In the morning while it was still dark she slumped over a little and was laying there with the map. She curled up a littel though wanting to rest. "JUst a small nap and then we'll go."

The beginning of the journey though that was something for the morning and Sawa stood there as the lower levels of the academy were opened to them. They could have went over the mountains but that would have been a difficult path as she stood there. Katana on her hip, the ancient force blade of the family Musashi was there. it gleamed sharp and pale. The blade more like milk then the jeweled steel most atrisian weapons were constructed to be. The blade also radiated the force for those rare enough to feel it. Where others in her family might have sought to be the wielder Sawa had proven her talent with a blade to earn the right to carry it at least for now.

Sawa was moving into it and the gates themselves were black wood, the same from the garden of crystals and gems. Sleek, hard and looking more like stone then anything it was almost like it absorbed the light itself. The doors carved into a face that was so old and wrinkled it looked ore like a person that had lived for a thousand years and never died. As she was approaching though one of the teachers oepned it with an amulet as its mouth opened wider and wider and wider still until the face was gone and only the black maw of its mouth. Sawa was passing through it and her blade was on her hip, her hand on the reigns of her horse as she guided it.

They had each been offered one and while hers was loaded with equipment in its bags she had only brought most of the essentials including notes and information about welll information about edible plants and things they could find along the way. What was known and what was unknown though might still be there and there were always legends about it. Traveling this deep through the mountain as the gates were closing behind them though she could see the black stone within. Oily and highly reflective of the torch light with a soft glow that traveled down it. The small grooves were actually protrusions that created a fractal pattern.

That pattern carried the light down as they traveled and in the darkness created a soft glow they could travel but to guide them but also amplify where they were currently. She was wearing a traveling kimono, less loose fitted, more rugged and designed to breathe in the heat with the white fabrics and with the more rugged nature for a chill. It was temperature control at its most basic before she was looking along at the horse itself. Large green eyes, white in color with the barest hints of grey and silver from it. Taller then some but ti was made to be more majestic and run for a day and night if it was needed.

Sawa was looking around and the alcoves of the inner mountain parts of the academy looked simple enough, the doors leading into rooms filled with old things, old equipment, records and nothing much. A gallery of equipment like ancient armor and weapons... then she came through and the chamber opened up into a massive one. Nearly pitch black but she could see the stone pathways. The sound below echoed as water was lapping against the stone. "I think this leads to the sea... well the sea under the mountains, lightless and ancient. No one has ever scouted or seen all of it but it is said to have sharks and krackens to freeze over in places and trap whales."

Sawa looked around though and they had walked this deep into the mountain but there was no light. THe one wall leading down was an ancient ship.... deconstructed and built into the side of the wall like a ladder going down. Winches, platforms and netting where they went before she was looking at some sections of it. The same fractal pattern was o the wall and climbed up the walls like glass and then along the floor. If she strained her eyes she could see the faint glow of their torches near the top of the cavern and on the other side of the bridge. She was looking at Ni-Ne and there was so much here. "We should explore and see if there is anything we might be able to use they didn't say not to use things we might find in here."

The Mother of All Psy-Pires
Ni-Ne listened as Sawa explained that she only knew how to defend with her katana.

Ni-Ne took a sip of her tea. "I know how to defend myself as well." She was being as vague as possible, due to the listening devices. "I was trained in the sword."

'Trained' would have been putting it mildly. Ni-Ne had been put through mock duels since she was five. They had made her fight with weighted clothing since she was eight. But though she had beaten her brothers in the dojo, and even her father--once--she had never killed anyone. Until she was put to the test all her supposed technical skill was still only in theory. She had no doubt she could beat the Yovshin here...her whole family had been Yovshin...if you don't know how to beat the very profession you were secretly trained in, your training is worthless.

She wasn't looking forward to killing--her father had warned her never to take pride in bloodthirst or savagery. Those had been his mistakes. He had been making them for years, even while raising her.

He swore it was the dark five rings that were killing him. The ancient sword style of The Li-Ves was taking its toll, he would claim.

In her youth, when Shimada had been young and fiery still, he had taught her The Way of The Dark Five Rings. A lot of people hated the Li-Ves for the particular viciousness of their ancient Dark Five Rings school. It was designed to cause pain.

Ni-Ne had not understood the nature of the style back then, but she had learned quickly in her youth. She was always troubled by how telling, it seemed, that it took her far longer to learn the modern version of the style, designed more to kill quickly, efficiently.

Regardless, as [member="Sawa Ike"] started showing her the ancient maps, Ni-Ne studied them with the intensity of a raptor spotting a mouse. Or a cat, rather...

They had discussed the plan almost all night, drinking tea, and Sawa had even fallen asleep a bit, right where she had drank so many cups. Ni-Ne's stomach fluttered at how much she had enjoyed Sawa's presence, because she knew such an idyllic enjoyment as this was fruit from a poisoned tree: It could not last. Ni-Ne would be dead, outcast, both, or worse at the end of it. And Sawa, if she helped her, likely faced death also.

Letting Ike sleep, Ni-Ne headed into the washroom and flipped a golden light on in a jade tiled bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror, feeling the pressure.

Ni-Ne turned the faucet on, splashing her face with ice cold water a couple of times, blue eyes staring back in uncertainty at her deadly task. How the hell was she going to steal a starship. She could not even fly the strange multi-colored contraptions that somehow took you across the stars. The stars would be the only safe place left if she survived.

Ni-Ne took out her red bladed Katana after leaving the washroom, and got into the Lotus position, meditating with the blade in its sheath. She never needed sleep for a long while after meditating.

Later on...

Turns out, the trip did have one fringe benefit--Ni-Ne had gotten a full view of the kind of security guarding the lower levels, and her stomach curdled as she realized, the lower she got, the more high tech the facility began to look, and the more she saw Yovshin warriors. She got a glimpse of a restricted wing, but only a glimpse before she was led to an ancient Face Door. Her eyebrow raised in curiousity as an amulet was used to open it. She could see nothing but black beyond...it hit her just how large and ancient the mountain was. She had not been able to take her clock it turned out, only basic equipment and supplies. She had taken that datapad, her katana and her knew longsword, and wore her red, robed armor. Her hair was tied in a bun and as she got on her horse, a white one, also carrying her luggage, she took one last look at the gathered officials, and then proceeded unhesitantly behind Sawa.

The strange fractal patterns of the cavernous surface, vaults of books and weapons built into the rockface itself, The whole thing looking impossibly large to be hidden in just a mountain, even as large a one as what housed Kagamiri. Sawa was looking around, and suggested looking around in the strange cavern to their destination, even pointing to the entrance to a lost sea she had had nightmares about in her youth, though she never informed Sawa of this, holding a torch as she explored. Ni-Ne took out a glow-rod and began looking around into one of the iron doors in the alcoves, elaborately detailed with dragons and spherical in shape. Li-Ves spotted one that called to her for some reason. She saw its locks firmly in place.

Ni-Ne took out her new longsword, the golden gleaming vibrosword switching on when her thumb hit a switch at the crossguard's center. She felt it hum in her hand.

She brought the blade down precisely through the seams, destroying the lock keeping it closed, though not without some effort. She stared in fascination at the blade. The star tech made swinging a blade almost effortless.

As she went over and pulled open the door, she decided to be open.

"Okay, we can speak freely, I think. No listening devices down here."

"Why do you think they sent us to find out? Us in particular? And...how did you meet Midori? And why stay, when she's so spoiled and cruel?" Ni-Ne asked as she entered a library full of strange texts. She went over to one, flipped it open, reading a single page, in a strange ugly cursive and an image depicting a fire tornado:

Spell of Spinning Fire.

Summon the great old fire magic of the mountain sorcerers. A spinning tornado of fire shall race from thee and consume any in its way.

Summoning:

Mother Nature, a twist of flame speeds toward my foes.

Ni-Ne's eyes widened as she read more. This...this was a magic book. Surely it could not work...right.

Ni-Ne remembered the boy with the missing shadow. She put it back. No telling how badly it would go wrong if she spoke the words...
