HISTORICAL INFORMATION

There was a time eons ago that the Chthonyx Dragon was the supreme apex predator on Dathomir, feared heavily by the Nightsisters, Nightbrothers, and the other species that roamed the planet's surface, but only through myths and legends and campfire stories. The dragons have always been a rare sight, which led to a belief they did not exit at all; with many tales of their sightings by explorers and the Nightsister's deemed false testimonies. This was due in part to the low birth rate that plagued the dragons, keeping their numbers grossly low.

It wasn't until the Clone Wars that the myths of the dragons began to unravel, turning myth and fantasy to reality. Several reports by the CIS began to breathe life into the dragon's existence when General Grievous and his armada came to battle the Nightsisters which during the
Battle of Dathomir, or what the Nightsisters called the Massacre of the Nightsisters. The existence of the dragons grew more traction during the Imperial Era when the Galactic Empire began world building on Dathomir, with high-ranking Imperials mentioning the dragons in reports and personal logs.

In a holocron that once belonged to the Sith Lady
Darth Talon upon being opened, there she mentioned the dragons on an expedition to Dathomir with her Master, Darth Ruyn. She spoke of how one single dragon nearly destroyed her Master and herself, that only through quick thinking where they able to survive and escape the encounter with their lives. She further explained the ferociousness of the dragon, going as far as calling them "majestic creatures with the power to melt flesh from bone with a single puff".

Throughout history from the fall of the Empire to modern times, sightings of the dragons have become truth over myth and legends. Still rare in viewership, the dragons, despite their low numbers, remain a top tier predator on Dathomir; living far away from villages, towns, and other civilizations, opting for seclusion over contact with the outside world from their domains, which seems to include the few forestry areas of Dathomir and the mountainous regions of the planet.
