Chosen By Fate [Self/LF Master]

And score he did.

Davin's constant pressuring of Master Levik's guard stirred enough frenzied motion that he exhausted himself, and not just himself. By now, all three were heavily panting, growing ever in need of oxygen and hydration that this match probably wouldn't last another ten minutes. His slowing silver blade recklessly flung back and forth in vain to keep the Master distracted.

"Kill..no-"

The vvzzm of a saber dashed across his right side, Starchaser smashing the side of the energy weapon into the armored ribcage of Master Levik, who let out a gruff but feminine grunt as the weapon made contact.

"You see.." She panted, backing away and lowering her saber. "All things can be overcome with superior tactics and coordination. Teamwork is the most expressed and viable virtue that the Imperial Order exhibits." She silenced the lightsaber and smirked at the pair. "Even Cadets can best a Master together."

That was all that was needed. It was true of most things. When everything was attacking, it was easy to keep watch, but when you were focusing on just one and tunnel vision kicked in. Especially the longer things went on. He needed to change this, and that was what he was going to do. With @[member="Davin"] focusing the attack and taking the attention, like a good fleeter should, Jared was able to come in with the sting.

That was how these two were going to work around one another. He grinned to himself when he made contact, the sound of the lightsaber hitting armor. Taking a step back, Jared looked to his companion. This was what they needed.

“Teamwork is essential everywhere. If we can bring our tactics from the battlefield into the Force and duels, there isn’t anything we can’t handle.” This was more to himself and Davin, than anything else. He felt sore, but good. It was one of those things you work to in order to learn where your body was strongest, and where you would falter.

Davin silenced his own saber and panted away, hands on hips, for the next few minutes with Jared to regain his composure. "Take a quick break, grab some water and we'll continue." Master Levik chortled as she undid her hair, pulled out the neck of her armor some, and left the room to the washing chambers. Davin assumed she was just grabbing water and splashing some of it on her face rather than taking an entire shower, but it was a much needed break anyways.

The Grand Admiral huffed and clipped the saber to his utility belt, crossing the room to snatch up a pair of canteens before using the Force to toss one over to the other Cadet. "Good work out there." He took a swig from the grey-green canister. "I felt something in the middle of that session. You?"

He was working on focusing his breathing. One of those tips the Warbirds did share with the younglings, the children of the Wing. He needed to get this under control. They were going to continue? Good. That was what he liked to hear. Sometimes. But right now? He definitely wanted to see what else he could do. Catching the canteen, he took a final deep breath.

“You too, s--…” He caught himself this time. At least that was something, right? Cadets were cadets regardless of rank. This was Force training, not military motions. “I think something. I think we’re able to reach one another.” Something useful for combat, for sure.

"Yeah, I can't really exp-" The Admiral was cut off as the doors slid open to reveal a seemingly refreshed Master Levik and something ungodly. The sinking in Davin's gut flew into motion the moment Levik stepped into the door, no, before that. He detected something evil. Something out to no good, something to be destroyed by a holy light.

"At ease." Master Levik reassured. "This is a minor Sith holocron. The dark taint on this baby isn't much to any of us, but it can corrupt anything if you allow it." She motioned for the pair to move closer as she held the pyramid-shaped object forward.

"What do you want us to do?" Davin asked tentatively, moving closer with caution written on his features.

"Come forward and place your hand on it." She offered the holocron once more by placing emphasis on sticking her hand out even more. Davin pursed his lips, took a glance at Starchaser and put his hand on it.

When the door opened again, Jared had to fight the urge to snap to attention. And even as he fought it, he lost. There was the part of him that was so militarily trained to stand erect when a superior entered. Even with the sinking feeling he was experiencing, he did his best to stand at the ready. He could feel the unease roll from @[member="Davin"] as well.

Looking to Master Levik and relaxing, but trying to not back away, he shook his head. A Sith Holocron, why were they keeping this thing here and not destroying it? Stepping closer, his instinct was to destroy this holocron. And yet, part of him wanted to learn from it. His father, after all, had learned from a Sith.

He looked over to his teammate before taking a deep breath. He reached out, placing his hand on the holocron. It took more than he cared to admit to prevent the shiver from crawling up his back.
