The sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach hit an all-time low when the doors snapped shut and bright lights caused her to close her eyes, head-turning, to avoid brightness that would certainly add to her headache. It happened so quickly. One moment they were all lost in the daydreaming sweetness of the naming of younglings and the next the assembled crowd began to scream and scatter. Taking cover. There were some that protected the Queen, some, that protected the children.

Others just scattered.

Wilhelmina held her clutch tightly and her hands came up over her ears for a moment to try and muffle the sounds that were increasing her nausea. Fear, niggled in the pit of her stomach. It cut deep. Almost as if someone had stabbed her directly. It was a cold sensation that didn’t wane, no matter what, and pushed her to move—albeit slower than some. “@Hisashi!”, the call was garbled, startled, and reflexive. He was always present when there was trouble.

Come to think of it—Was he even on the premises?

Breathe.

The few precious seconds she wasted while panicking were moments in time she wouldn’t get back. She had been trained better than that. She knew, better. Mina couldn’t help but glance toward Teyla, Baros, and the children. They were the focus of the ceremony. Common sense dictated that it had to have something to do with her family. One of the nobility, perhaps. Or—

—Queen Liviana?

Mina didn’t know. She wasn’t some sort of top-secret spy with high-level clearance. She just knew that her family, friends, and the ruler of their entire PLANET was in danger. How could this happen? The estate had more security measures than most? Why? Who would do this?

Hadn’t Naboo suffered enough?

The young brunette slipped back from the center of the room and took a quiet position behind a large pillar while the rest of the room moved in a panicked shuffle. Talking. Worrying. Wilhelmina let her hand fall over her heart and willed it to slow. The best part about being a teenager in a household full of people that were far more important than she was? No one noticed her.

No one cared what she did. Not even the enemy.

Mina caught sight of a disturbance on the upper level, though, it was strange. As if someone had pulled the shooter out of their hiding spot for a moment. It was enough that both she and a few others had seen it. The slender creature slid out of her high-heeled shoes and crept back toward the carpeted staircase, not realizing, that she actually wouldn’t be seen. Her belief that she was invisible seemed to have manifested itself in such a way that she almost blended into the wallpaper.

She could see others ascending toward the shooter but it looked like they’d already been spotted. Maybe. Probably. Mina kept on going toward the problem on instinct. Her sisters were going to kill her. Baros might be a little miffed, but he wouldn’t ground her into the next millennium. She swore in her head ‘Sugarstix, sugarstix, sugarstix’ with every breath. But, she couldn’t do nothing.

It was self-defense, right?

She could see his back. See the gun. It was huge. Fear started creeping again…He was aiming. Not at her. At someone down below that had attended the coronation. Wilhelmina picked up a vase full of flowers from the bannister, a priceless family heirloom, and brought it high over her head. It would be worth it to knock him out with. She moved closer. Closer. He didn’t know she was there…Until her toes caught on the edge of the carpet and she stumbled.

Dropping the vase. He turned—

“—Oh, sugarstix.”

He didn’t say anything. Mina swallowed hard and watched as dark eyes grew even darker. He was angry. Annoyed. It didn’t seem that she was so invisible anymore. He could see her clear as day and seemed less than amused. She backed away from him, from the glass, and pressed a nervous, rather terrified, half-smile to kittenish features. Of course, innocent as the day she’d been born. “Uh…Hi…Hi there—Please don’t shoot me.”

The assassin reached out and tried to grab her, but she moved, just shy from his grasp. She threw her clutch at him and missed wildly but he did take a step to the side. Her uncanny luck kicked in. The water left from the vase made the floor slick and he went arse over elbow with the gun smashing down, only, to fire a round that nicked her arm before it clattered to the floor. His head hit the ground with a loud cracking sound that would have made her cringe were her arm not suddenly screaming in pain.

The petite young woman darted forward to pick up the weapon and nocked it surprisingly properly against her shoulder while her eyes stung. He moved woozily to get up and she stepped back, still, taking aim. At this distance, not even a novice could miss. “D-Don’t do it.”

It was almost like he didn’t care about his own life. His own well-being. Mina would pull the trigger if he didn’t back down. He wasn’t giving her any choice.

“I know you hit your head but I SAID don’t do it—Stay right there. Hands w-where I can see them.”

I was under the impression Mina was supposed to take this guy out...Pls let me know if I need to edit. Thank you!
