- Material:
- X18 (Primary Ingredient)
- Blightspawn Atter (Additive)
- Causes long-term radioactive contamination
- Burns for extended periods
- Living Fire: X19 possesses an exceptionally high burning point, resists traditional fire-extinguishing methods, and can remain ignited without an external fuel source for quite some time.
- Ground Zero: X19 is highly radioactive, and capable of inflicting long-term contamination upon environments (or enemies) exposed to it..
- Chain-Breaker: X19 is infamously volatile, and munitions breaches can quite easily harm or destroy its own makers.
The next (and potentially last) in its line, X19 is a highly-toxic, highly-incendiary chemical weapon designed and produced by the Helix Privateers.
To the enemies of the Sith, such substances need no introduction. The terrible living fires of X-series chemicals have burned cities, poisoned entire worlds, and doomed billions to a slow and lingering death.
X19 is no exception. Various material advancements have created a substance with the sheer deadliness of X16, and combined it with the low cost of X18.
As with its forbears, ignited X19 burns with a cheerful cobalt-blue flame, and will continue to do so despite immersion in water or hard vacuum. While it could almost be considered beautiful (from a distance) it is almost certainly one of the most pernicious substances in the galaxy.
X19 can and will ignite surfaces otherwise considered non-flammable, clinging to them and inflicting damage more reminiscent of acidic corrosion than heat. Its sizzling, armor-eating fires can rage for approximately twenty standard minutes under their own power, or spread and consume as normal flame would should suitable fuel be present. Typically, X19 burns at some 2600-3100 degrees Celsius, dependent on mixture and concentration.
True to form, X19 is also powerfully radiotoxic, and exposure to the substance can lead to the nightmarish variety of lingering health complications typical of exposure to strong radioactive emissions. Mass deployment of a similar chemical inflicted irreparable poisoning of Dagobah's wilderness, or at least a small portion thereof.
Indeed, this long-term area denial usage is the substance's primary strategic purpose. Quite apart from the incredible heat and radioactive contamination brought about by large-scale saturation, burning X19 creates great clouds of poisonous fumes. These tend to be heavier-than-air, and cling low to the ground in creeping clouds that can spread surprising distances.
This dual incendiary/radiological effect is the hallmark of the series, and has seen use in everything from handheld blasters to starship-grade weaponry. It is also the cause of the substance's devastating ecological effects.
X19 is a refined blend of its forbears, mingled with the vile bodily fluids of the Blightspawn and intended to harness their strengths with less of their weaknesses. Unfortunately, this has only been a partial success. While the substance is indeed more mass-produceable than X16, and more powerful than X18, the chemical instability peculiar to the series is most pronounced here.
X19 is notoriously difficult to transport and contain, generally requiring imprisonment within powerful magnetic fields. Physical containers (regardless of resilience), tend to corrode too quickly, and the few substances capable of withstanding the substance's fury for long are too expensive and uncommon for this purpose.
Containment breaches can lead to devastating munitions cookoffs, flooding entire starship corridors with liquid fire. No less lethal are handheld weapons malfunctions; nothing dampens a soldier's spirits quite like being suddenly doused in blazing rad-flames.
