Charity *vomits in mouth a bit* [GR Dev Thread]

Trying to be straight in a crooked Galaxy
Charity, a seven letter word that Spaarti Creations laughed a good ninety nine point nine nine percent of the time. It was safe to say that the company just really loved money, and after selling a bulk order of clones to the republic they had made a killing in the galactic marketplace. But every now and then, that point zero one percent of the time, Spaarti did the right thing. The Republic's super best friend and most favorite ally the Silver Sanctum had decided to permanently house sit Ossus for the Republic after the loss on Contruum, and hey that was cool. What were friends for right?

Regardless of political standings in the republic, the outer rim world of Lothal had been chosen for the location of a new Jedi temple. This was something that struck Patricia as odd, having your new temple be all the way out there in the outer rim. For starters on why this was a bad idea, it was the outer rim. It lacked the safety and control of the core systems and justice half the time came at the barrel of a blaster the more you moved south. But who was Patricia to question the great space wizards and their all knowing power, all she had to do was build these guys a new temple.

But it wasn't going to be that crappy old underground temple that was decaying after hundreds of years of staying in an abandoned state, no that was a straight up death trap to build in. They were going to build on top it, and just let the Jedi walk around in their spooky death trap tunnels to fight the imaginary inquisitors themselves.

With the Spaarti Creations fleet of freighters snapping out of hyperspace and breaking atmosphere the ships pushed down to the planet's surface to where the Jedi had given them coordinates to build. The ships now traveling a few hundred meters off the ground flew along the barren surface of Lothal. A plain of nothing as far as the eye could see until a single mountain that pushed above the surface in a strange shape came into view. That was it, the secret underground temple of the Jedi Order. The mountain was worn and old and Patricia had her crews start to scan it, when the results were in the woman could see the doors inside and knew where to start building. But first they had to make the tall mountain into a mesa. This was of course the fun part.

"All ships open fire." Patricia said from the lead ship command chair.

The twenty odd freighters charged up their forward turbo lasers and soon began to open fire on the temple. What would soon be the sub basement of the temple would hopefully hold up under this sort of fire and vibration.

It was fair to say that Jedi were not typical. Where some sought something majestic and wonderful, sometimes they simply sought something entirely plain.

They say that it if you’ve seen one Jedi temple, you’ve seen them all. And broadly speaking they were right. The architecture, regardless of planet, was essentially the same.

Lothal, according to legend, was different. For a start it was underground. And apparently it could only be accessed by someone who was a Force User and Light-sided — like a building version of a Solari crystal. And the term building was a stretch. It was, according to Corvus’ references, more of a small mountain.

Finding it was going to be the challenge.

Corvus checked the image on her datapad once more.

500px-RMQ-KillikMounds.jpg

It had to be here somewhere and with the help of Spaarti Creations’ mighty construction team, they would be able to reclaim the site — which had no doubt changed over the centuries and return it to its former glory.

As Corvus sat in Raven and looked down, she just knew it was ahead. The Force told her so. Ossus was in the past. Today was a new dawn.

A new day.

A new life…for all Jedi.

As the barrage of heavy laser cannons hit the mountain it was going to take a little bit to take down the mountain, it was you know, a mountain. But as the barrage went through a single heavy laser canon shot straight through the mountain and through the other side to create a smooth exit on the other side. But that was the exact moment when the woman's comm link rang. Answering it she held it up to get ear.

"Okay, yeah. Uh-huh, well um no. Of course not no no, mhhmm yeah. Not a scratch." Patricia hung up the phone and calmly looked to her crew.

"EVERYONE HOLD YOUR FIRE!!!" She yelled on the FleetCom system.

All ships stopped firing and the glaring hole through the mountain just stared at them mocking the woman for opening fire on a piece of Jedi history. Patricia really really really wished the Jedi didn't speak in their cryptic riddle bull crap and were more forward, she had gotten off the phone with a few Jedi architects and they had just instructed them that the temple was to be renovated.

"Okay, okay! We can fix this! Malarkey!! Options!!" Patricia yelled to her intelligence officer.

"I say we bail ma'am! Call it a day and then pretend nothing happened! Maybe throw some leaves over it!" He said with a nervous look on his face.

"No! I'd feel bad for like the afternoon and I do not need that! Take us down and we'll just hollow out the mountain to create more space and rooms." Patricia said with a determined look to not feel bad for a few hours.

The ships dropped down and soon the ramps opened up to let Hellhound Strategic droid support companies out to help set up the building zone. Best to let the droids set everything up and secure the area before sending out the workers to get started. Thank you giant Gen'dai mercenaries.

Corvus sat in the cockpit of her ship. Beside her was her latest Padawan. Due to the hasty departure from Ossus, Corvus had a lot to manage on her journey to this Outer Rim planet - and sadly not sufficient to give her new Padawan the attention she deserves.

So she tore her eyes away from the window and gave her companion her full and undivided attention.

"So...Padawan. I appreciate you asking me to be your Master, and given other circumstances we would have had a long and meaningful conversation about your needs and if I was the right Master. So now," she smiled, "You're kind of stuck with me."

"So...how about you tell me a little about yourself?"

With the twenty Hellhound Strategic support companies setting up the necessary equipment such as laser drill systems, blasting caps, and other digging materials, Patricia ordered a few other crews to start laying out the support structures for the insides of the mountain. When you hollowed out a mountain you had to support its massive weight and so durasteel support beams would be laid out then fused together as they moved through the mountain's internal system.

"Gear is on the ground ma'am the hollowing process should take four or five hours depending on how hard we can work the droids." Patricia's Intel officer malarkey said calmly.

"Start from the top and blast through the mountain, push a few ships up to pull rubble from the mountain." Patricia ordered and had ships move from their parked positions.

The droids manning various flying skiffs took their gear and a laser drill system and flew up towards the top of the mountain, they had orders to start drilling down and blasting hollow areas in the mountain to fit more drills to clear everything out. After that it was a pretty simple process of creating layers of flooring from the bottom up. Place a shield generator at the top to cover the entire facility. Maybe put down some auto turrets, regardless Patricia was like the Xzibit of pimping out Jedi temples.

"Begin drilling." Patricia said as she stepped out from her ship and into a tent the droids had established.

The drills dropped down from the skiff and started plunging into the mountains top. Carving through rock and other minerals the drill began to push in deeper towards the bottom of the mountain.

Miss Blonde

The laser drill pushed down deeper into the mountain and hit its core, it was a pretty cool sight really. With smoke rising from the mountaintop where the drill had inserted the entire thing looked like a giant volcano on the fringe of exploding into lava and ash. But instead of exploding violently it was time to move on to the next step. With the massive mechanical beast pushing itself out the side of the mountain, a skiff holding a few military grade bombs hovered over the hole and dropped them down into the mountain's core.

The explosion that ensued thankfully didn't topple the mountain but rather created a large mess of rubble inside. This was the cue for the ships to move in and start using their tractor beams to pull the large amounts of rock from the mountains innards. After an hour or so the brand new cavern was clear and they could send in crews to start handling further hollowing and setting up a floor plan.

"Send the droids in to hollow and build, organics let get to work on the temple itself. Get in contact with the grandmaster and let them know they will be needed within the hour." Patricia said to her Intel officer.

"Yes ma'am." Malarkey said with a little mock salute.

A message would be sent to [member="Corvus Raaf"] with coordinates to their position. Really Patricia could just blow the doors down or drill into the temple, but then that could ruin whatever hocus pocus bull crap magic working they had on the doors. Legend had it that the place only opened up to lights siders and she would respect that.

Patricia could hear the booming of more explosives and drills going off in the background of the command tent, with awesome futuristic tech the woman could have that mountain completely hollow in the next few hours. But they had other jobs to do until then, ground defenses and the floor plan to the entire mountain. So with her fingers at the holo table she pulled up the schematics she had for the mountain, and the original plans she had. With a few quick alterations an organic Hellhound Strategic officer stood next to her as she belayed orders to him.

"Seven floors for the mountain, for the bottom floor I want a hanger for ships and of entrance into the lower parts of the temple, make sure you throw the power generator there as well. Set up a marker for the Jedi so they can construct their mystic crap magic thing. Second floor I want living areas, a commissary, and a general rec area. See to it they are fitted with luxury items." Patricia said as she moved up the list.

"Third floor will be a training area, think dojo for the padawans to spar in. Fourth I want classrooms and keep it strictly classrooms. Now fifth I want it you to build a meditation room, make it pretty, lots of flowers and artificial sunlight." Patricia then moved up to the last two floors.

"Sixth make it a meeting room for the Jedi council, and as much as I'd like to know the Jedi's future plans don't bug it. Lastly set up the shield generators on top and make sure they are a high enough grade generators to cover the mountain. Harvest them from the Queen Bee and Nexu Tango if you have to, but I want four generators up there as a back up set." Patricia then paused.

"Got all that? Also get Corvus on the horn dammit! I need crews inside!" Patricia said as she yelled to one of her comm officers.

Another call would be sent to [member="Corvus Raaf"] so she could get the door open to allow her crews inside to begin renovations.

Miss Blonde

Trying to be straight in a crooked Galaxy
" Ma'am, I'm sorry but [member="Corvus Raaf"] isn't picking up!" Malarkey said on the comms.

"God dammit!! What is she too good for us?! Not like I'm building them a temple or upgrading this crap!" Patricia said as she rubbed her temples.

"Get [member="Mantic Dorn"] on the horn, tell him to get down here otherwise we can't renovate the bottom half, or [member="Taeli Raaf"] anybody! I don't care who! A guy named Sticky Joe!! JUST GET SOMEONE!!" Patricia yelled into the mic at Malarkey.

So the calls were sent out to the two Jedi masters and until they answered construction would on the top portion would continue as needed. With the droids working hard various skiffs filled with tools, Durasteel floor plates, and power generators were flying into the now hollow mountain that was being supported by various steel beams and the occasional light tractor beam. The crews were tasked with setting up the bottom hanger and power room, and building their way up with the bare bones of the temple.

The tunnels were rather cold still. Although why should they not be, so far mostly droids were working down here. Here and there lights and proper floor was being installed though making it resemble a structure more then a tunnel.
Mantic had had a hard time picturing how this temple would be. It somewhat felt wrong to bury oneself in the depths, yet the timing was perhaps most needed, all things considering.

He dodged a crane operated by a gloomy looking humanoid droid who only muttered a something low about the inadequate effect it would have for his crane to carry away jedi instead of stones.
Leaving that behind him Mantic finally reached a large tent where the architect supposedly was working from.

He stepped inside and looked around the room. He saw a woman that he assumed was [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] but remained quite until addressed.

The Garter Tent
w [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] & [member="Mantic Dorn"]

She was retired. Heard a rumor that Raaf was setting up a school on Lothal too. Outside of GR jurisdiction and open to anybody who kept a Code and wanted to help. So. Here she was. Present and accounted for. Ready to knock out a development thread and hoist another Temple into the sky. Just like the good old days.

Equipped in silver EVA and with a heavy step, the Old Master approached the two persons inside the command tent. The Garter Tent. As she smirked to call it. Roberts gave a nod to Master Dorn and turned her helm to speak to Patty S.G.,

"Hello there. I'm with the volunteers. Where do I start?"

She was feeling rather chipper about it too.

Inside the Garter Tent as Karen wished she could say allowed there was a storm of people in chairs communicating with droids, commanding probes, coordinating clone security, really just a bunch of crap going on all at once. Heck even Patricia was hard at work, her eyes razor focused on the map and her body hunched over the table. This of course was broken when she turned around and Karen spoke.

"HOLY. &$%# monkey $@&#!!!" She said as her heart skipped a few beats and she was taken off guard by the two Jedi that showed up on her Garter Tent.

"Are you guys like ninjas are something, God damn!" She yelled and caught her breath afterwards.

"Space ninjas..." A rather portly man with glasses whispered as spun around in his chair turned back to their desk.

The blonde haired businesswoman coughed a bit and gathered herself up, the two must of been with the order. Patricia recognized mantic from his files but the other had eluded her, she wasn't in and active republic data base that Patricia had seen or on the roster of Jedi on the council.

"First off, hi thanks for the heart attack. Secondly welcome Mantic I'm Patricia it's nice to meet you, and thirdly who the hell are you?" Patricia said referencing to Karen.

Outside of the tent the construction of the mountain was going great. Droids were at work building the hanger and soon the floors and power generators would be all set up. The four Durasteel beams were all ready to go and the could work their way up the floors.

Roberts smirked at [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] . Now that was a personality. The blue-haired woman removed her helm and cradled it in her arms with a shrug,

"Karen Roberts. Of the new Jedi Order of Lothal. Former Navy Captain of the Watts-Class Tolemi's Hammer during the Battle of Coruscant. Retired."

She gave Garter a smile and a wink,

"Just looking to join the volunteers. Ma'am."

If Roberts name didn't appear on any GR manifests these days it was only because Admiral Noah Keys, formerly of Republic Intelligence during the Pherson Administration, had scrubbed them. Which was pretty funny too. Considering she still received her retired Navy Officer benefits on her travels through Republic Space. Bah. What's a few paychecks between friends anyway? Roberts certainly wasn't going to live the rest of her life on a Jedi's salary. That was for sure.

That reminded her. ~ "Note to self: Intergalactic bank transactions on Lothal suck. End note."

Mantic inclined his head at the new comer entering the tent. She was powerful in the force yet her alignment eluded him.

He bowed to [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] as she recognized him and listened as the two exchanged greetings.

Then it became clear to him as the force user presented herself. He placed his hands on his back and pondered for a while. It was not a situation he felt comfortable with and this was proof that he had been correct about this move. The order would face a hard time remaining true to what it once was.

"I was told I might be needed miss Garter." he then answered the woman in charge. "The Grand Master is very pre occupied and might join later but for the time being, I am afraid you will have to settle for me."

Mantic wet his lips and turned to [member="Karen Roberts"]

"I am not aware of a new order here on Lothal. We are the same order that used the center ourselves around Tython and later Ossus. Albeit again we are searching for a new home here on Lothal again." he spoke, a tone of sadness accompanying his words.

"Perhaps you are searching for the new jedi order of the Galactic Alliance? I believe they have made appearances on Lothal as well. I have however not heard if any attempts on their end to errect a temple here. Not yet anyway. Our similar names are confusing for sure, no doubt about it." he tried, hoping it would clarify things for [member="Karen Roberts"]

The blue-haired woman seemed a bit taken aback by Master [member="Mantic Dorn"] 's words. She stopped for a minute to turn and size him up. Huh. Seemed like a fine enough warrior monk to her. Fair enough.

"Ah. Well. Thank you for the clarification Master Jedi. Pardon my ignorance. It's been a few years."

She turned back to Lady Garter and gave a nod,

"Ahem. Karen Roberts of The Jedi Order. Reporting for duty. Sorry."

Roberts stood back up to her full height and gave another nod to the Jedi Master. Making a mental note of avoid Grandmaster Wraith if she saw him again too. Hmm. Or maybe she'd make him a Alders Lemon Pie and hope he got the joke. Hehe. Wouldn't that be perfect.

She smiled at that thought and returned to the present. They still had a temple to build and all that, ya know.

Patricia soaked in the information from the blue haired woman and the Jedi, Karen Roberts, she'd have to remember that. Either way she did have a job for them and it was one that was relatively pressing. Outside the droids were working on the mountain and building the upper levels of the temple in its hollowed out structure. Word was pinged to her that the hanger level was prepared and it could roughly fit a few shuttles and fighters, she could have that expanded on later. But for now the goal for these two was to open the doors to the temple.

"Okay, so here's what I need one of you to do." Patricia said as she pulled up schematics.

An image showed of the temples hidden door from preliminary scans and the thing about it was only a lightsider could open it, and if it wasn't obvious Patricia wasn't that. But if anyone could open it, it was going to be two Jedi masters.

"It's protected by some kind of voodoo crap magics, no offense. But it can only be opened by lightsiders. I need you guys to open it. As for Miss Roberts here your volunteers once inside can join my droids and start renovating the tunnel system beneath the temple. It's more than likely in dire need. All the supplies you'd need are on the ship, just try to stay out of the droids way." So with the instructions given to the force users Patricia would return to the table to ensure the pieces were coming together for the temple.

Mantic placed both his hands inside his sleeves as he first listened to [member="Karen Roberts"]

"These are confusing times. There is no need for an apology, sometimes it is indeed hard to know who you represents." he gave a thin smile at the notion before turning his attention to [member="Patricia Susan Garter"]
What an odd contractor for the gran master to employ he thought and pondered her straightforwardness somewhat.
She was to the point this one. No doubt about it but did she have any clue what she was talking about?
Mantic decided to not question this, after all, she had been trusted with constructing the most sacred place for the jedi in the future conflict. He had to have some faith in that the decission.

"I shall see what I can do miss Garter." he answered with a short bow to her.

As the architect seemed to be preoccupied with the lay out of the tunnel system he then turned to [member="Karen Roberts"]

"I must confess, rites and rituals are not my strongest side. But perhaps we should start by go and take a look at this gateway?" he offered and gave her way to move outside with him.

"Well. Voodoo magic is it then. Hehe." Karen gave with a smile.

She gave a nod to [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] and followed Master [member="Mantic Dorn"] out of the Garter Tent. Mm. How she loved to say that. If only Grant were here. She'd harass him with for hours. Musing to herself she returned her thoughts to the present. Turning towards the other Master Jedi and pursing her lips,

"I see. Truth be told I've seen something similar on the icy crests of Ilum before. Portals which only open upon the summons of the light. Fascinating workmanship to be sure. No doubt pioneered long before the Dark Times. Before the Plague."

They walked across the easy fields and felt the wind upon their faces. A gentle breeze and somber grasslands. Arriving shortly at the formation of stones that must surly have marked the entrance to some hidden doorway. The natural architecture did not evade Karen's notice and she stopped to squint with some minor curiosity. Dwarf doors were always so hard to perceive.

"I believe this is the place Master. Would you like to do the honors? Or shall I?"

She turned and set her helm upon a nearby rock. Enjoying the easy experience with some delight. From Tython to Coruscant. Corellia to Sullust. Raising up a new Temple was always such a grand experience to become a part of. Making history.

During the stroll Mantic pondered the words of [member="Karen Roberts"]

New temples was perhaps not as uncommon as he liked to believe. She seemed experience on the field as well and he was grateful he was not alone.
As they arrived to the site Mantic did feel something. The very area held a power of sorts and it was much more powerful then he had experienced from a physical location in a very long time.

This was not for the natural eye to percieve. No, he needed to go deeper.

He closed his eyes and as usual he pictured the force as a great web. A web that had been spun from one end of the galaxy to the other, some threads were as ancient as the galaxy itself, others were short lived and would most likely wither away soon. They all carried witness however, be it from a life or an event.
1979822-Glowing-spider-web-Stock-Photo.jpg

Sometimes the threads held the dark side and sometimes the light.
The threads here were bright and very strong. There were some torn ones as well but mostly these were simply not primary connected to this place. They were trails of past masters who had been here at some point but now had left to be one with the force. It was a natural thing to discover and Mantic inclined his head as if to give these past jedis a sign of respect.

Tilting his head, still with closed eyes, he took a step forward and raised his hands. He noticed one golden thread that seemed to end in thin air. He touched it gently. He was astounded as the rush of the force flowed through him. He was almost pulled in by it.

Gasping he opened his eyes.

"Master Roberts," he pointed at a rock side. "I think we need to focus together on this."

Jsc

~Still Surfin
Roberts stood up from where she was sitting and nodded to [member="Mantic Dorn"] . Like Ilum before her, the combined strength of many Jedi could expedite their ethereal solution.

"Very well then. I shall assist."

She closed her eyes and held up a palm towards the stone. Clearing her mind and returning to the place of Golden Light. Here she 'perceived'. Here she was 'awake'.

"Ah. I have it now. We may begin."

The blue-haired woman gave a deep breath and allowed herself to be guided by the Force. Lending her own strength to his. Speaking boldly to the passageway and identifying herself as such. Emboldened by the light and stepping forward into it's eternal realm. Open up, my dear gateway. The Jedi were coming home.

Mantic could feel as [member="Karen Roberts"] attuned herself to the web. Her own powers becoming one with many of the threads running its course through the field. It did not take long before she too had found the central golden thread that Mantic was focused on. While she most likely perceived the events rather different for Mantics mind to grasp it all.

He took a deep breath and slowly he was pulled into the flow of the force, just like [member="Karen Roberts"] - their bodies merely shells, containers for what the universe needed to point out their identities. Fragile beings in a world of such wondrous and dangerous powers. Here however the light was not to be hjarmed and their combined presence was welcomed.

Climbing the golden thread like small insects the two reached the end of it. Puffing small breaths into empty air.

A moment passed.

Then their breath stirred and greqw to a gust, flying forth and in their wake new thinner most gentle threads materialized. They ran in complex patterns following what seemed to be deep scars in something that was very thick and solid.
doors_of_durin_by_erikappelqvist-d6jpxyh.jpg

The golden thread detached itself and slowly the foot of the mountain started to open.

Mantic staggered back by the experience. The physical gateway had chosen to open itself to them. The Temple of Lothal had chosen to accept its new guests.

He turned to [member="Karen Roberts"] and smiled.

"Let us hope that [member="Patricia Susan Garter"] will be content by this."
