Culture: The Charalians are descendants of an ancient colony, and have retained the cultural and governmental forms of the colonial administration. Centuries of isolation have idealized the Rebel Alliance's creation of the New Republic, resulting in a strong and active focus on growth through change. The planet and its moon are led by a governor, a head scientist, a security chief, a head navigator, and a logistics chief. A meritocratic caste system, and a virtual fetishization of aptitude tests and field promotions, rely on a philosophical foundation that spurs most Charalians to become highly specialized in whatever field they choose.

Xenophobia is an issue; Charalians (Human and Twi'lek alike) have encountered no outsiders or aliens in two centuries, and have spent their entire history avoiding the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium. Major festivals include quarterly ceremonies of aptitude testing and career choice for their youth. Charalian architecture, ornamentation, and social ritual are generally graceful, ornate, but functional. Charalians do nothing just for show.

Technology: Somewhat substandard. Compare 4000 BBY Republic technology.

History: Charal was colonized 380 ABY by one of the Galactic Alliance's successor states. With the advent of the Gulag Virus, Charal cut itself off from the galaxy, but was infected nonetheless. Cycles of technological and social regression, collapse, and rediscovery played out between the planet and its colonized moon of Sedar. Sedar's vaults preserved technology more than once, and Charal was torn by wars and ignorant crusades in 510 ABY, 550 ABY, 632 ABY, and 740 ABY. The war which began in 632 ABY was racial in origin, and only the Twi'leks and Humans survived in large enough numbers to maintain genetically viable populations.

The regime which took power in 756 ABY was based on the ancient colonial administration, and has very carefully retained peace through a system of federal checks and balances based on caste rather than territory. This very remote world was recently rediscovered by the hyperspace explorer Jorus Merrill. As yet, its contact with the outside galaxy remains very limited, though its hyperspace navigators have thoroughly explored as far as Sabarene.

I’m glad someone knows how to design planets….

I see nothing too bad here. My only question is…10 million is a very low number for an entire planet. Are you sure that’s all you want? Manhattan Island and Brooklyn have more people, after all!

[member="Tamara"] - That's a very standard number for a peripheral Star Wars planet, as shown here. Even major worlds like Thyferra often have no more than a hundred million, two hundred million.
