Characters-to-writer ratio

I used to have a problem where I'd not only have over 10 characters going at once but I'd have 6 or 7 sites that I'd actively participate in at the same time. Oh high school... how I, nope never mind.

Currently I only have 2 characters. I don't count NPCs, however, I tend to consider the NPCs that I create active cogs to the wheels of the characters I write. Though I use the same account to handle a bunch most of the time, still notable that they are obvious additions, not just random excursions to side story-land.

That said, I am always tempted to create more. There's something about having a lot of options to go through that helps keep my muse flowing for some reason. However: time. /me looks at the pile of old characters waiting to be revamped and the pile of new character ideas just waiting to become extent longingly.

I only create on any given site as many as I can track at the same time. Which is 2 or 3. The down side is like on another site for example I get requests to create characters to rp with specific writers at least every week. If I said yes to everyone I would end up having closer to 12.

Yeah, just this guy. I got alts, but I never use em and they'd of been deleted/merged if that was a thing that could still happen.

I only have sweet Nefertari right now. I'm considering a few new characters, but who knows if I'll get around to it?

Like it seems a lot of other players I play three characters here - two others plus Janus. I've thought about taking on another one, but I'm not sure because I write on other RP sites than just this one, and I don't want to let anyone down of course.

Sometimes one character is all you really need, especially when they get extremely popular and therefore in demand!

I have 7 characters that I consider truly active, about 3 or 4 that are a little bit less active and a couple that I have lost muse for completely.

My 'main' one is Dair, but I slide around the others routinely.

Oh wow [member="Taryc Ap'Irae"] you play that many characters? I don't think that I could have kept up an active muse for that many on a single RP even if I tried. One of my problems seems to be suddenly getting a muse to create a new character who I then suddenly loose that muse for and subsequently don't know what to do with.

I have that issue sometimes, but it actually helps me to be able to switch mental gears and write a different character for a while.

When I create new characters I have a bit of a problem too, which holds me to that 2-3 number I voted for. I tend to have a ton of really out there ideas, but so far I've found a place for everyone here. I actually thought that Janus was going to be a little too strange when I created him, but I guess flying Twi'leks need homes too.

So. I typically have more than ten characters, but most of them are made out of sudden inspiration and then are forgotten. That means I probably play with only about 2-4 at any given time, sometimes losing muse for one and recovering for another. Even my main characters shift rather often (Equa -> Lilith -> Maria -> Ellya -> Emma -> Oscar -> Maria).

Right now, I actively use Maria, Oscar, Eve, limit myself to just one thread with Hugh, and am trying to get back to Equa or Nam (I'll be using the one I find my muse faster).

At the moment, trying to get into RPing again with 1-2 characters. During my golden age I could handle more than a dozen at once, but these days are long over
