Public Character of the Month - May 2026 - Nominations

Hey everyone!

Happy May! We have shockingly reached the near end of May and therefore it is time to start nominations once again! I am really looking forward to seeing what people have been writing and exploring during May!

Also, possibly looking to do Zinder event in Summer so keep a look out for that.

Rules are as following:

• Nominate a character that is not of your writing that has impressed you in the last month.
• Give the reasons why.
  • Please include thread links for others to see why you love the character so much.
• You may nominate someone that has already been nominated, they will be listed once in the voting stage and the reasons combined into one.
• This is for In Character stuff.
• During the nomination step, you must ask the winner a question for your nomination to count. Yes, that means in this thread, along with the nomination also put a question for the eventual winner, ya scamp.
• During the voting, please limit yourselves to one vote.
• Character must have been active in the last month to qualify, would be great if you would keep it to the last months exploits too.
• Characters can only win once.

I would like to nominate Varin Mortifer .

My reason is the dude is everywhere just about rp wise. Engages with new people to the board and Sith Covenant keeping them excited to keep going on this journey. He champions ideas and is down for just about anything on the collaborative side. He is just fun to write with as well, and loves joking around ooc. He is just fun.

Also ic I hate him and will kill him one day. (Can't be to nice. Lol)

Question: Does your characters inner voice have a positive or negative outlook on your character and what do they most often speak to you?

I'd like to second the nomination of Varin Mortifer for the reasons listed above. Dude is so much fun to stalk read!

Question: On an average day, what does Varin look forward to the most?

Third Varin Mortifer . The first post of his that I ever read ended like this:

“But Ignati, you’re forgetting one thing.”

What?

“I don’t know how to talk to girls!”

Varin’s voice carried a little further than he meant it to, as it echoed off the trees and expanse of forest.

That's when I knew I had to jump in and make things worse. Since then, he's been a really fun and engaging rp partner! I've read some of his other threads and he always makes room for other writers. He's also got some neat lore for his home planet cookin, which I hope to see more of.

Question: If you had to pick another species for your character, which one would be hilariously wrong?

Guys we need to be careful, if we keep hyping him up his muscles will explode from all this ego and aura farming, but with the rest hell yeah loving Varin Mortifer

Question: what is one mundane activity that your character enjoys that would surprise others to learn?

I am also here to nominate Varin Mortifer - folks have already stated pretty much all the things I would have. He's such a fun person to write with and communicate with, and tells some awesome stories with his threads. Big fan, definitely recommend writing with him!

Question: What is your character's favorite/best childhood memory?

Another for Varin Mortifer ! Varin's been one of my favorite characters on Chaos for a long while now. Watching his story unfold has been a blast. Nothing rushed, nothing unearned, just steady growth/char progression ^^. And with him still sitting in the Apprentice tier, there's just so much more room for the guy to evolve. I'm excited to see where that goes. IC wise, he's been the one constant in my own character's story through everything, and I'm genuinely grateful to have ya around for the ride

As for his writer? Killer storyteller. Consistent, collaborative, and always brings energy to every thread. Everything folks have already said. Much love, broski. Keep cooking.

Question: What's one thing your character believes about themselves that isn't actually true?

Absolutely adding another to the Varin Mortifer train! As much as Arris teases him for being a meathead, he's got a lot of unexpected character depth and some very iconic delivery. He really comes across like a cohesive character within the fiction, sits well in any scene he's part of.

I really enjoyed writing with him here. But my favorite memory will always be his interaction with Kirie where he told her to straighten up right before she took a beanbag round to the chest.

Punching Mercy in the face is a close second, though.

My question: What's the worst take your character has but would die on a hill for?

I don't usually like to add onto the glaze other people receive. Heaven forbid a roleplayer get an ego and start giving off that "main character syndrome" aura. However, Varin Mortifer has become something of the posterchild, at least for me, when it comes to the Sith Covenant. I've glazed TSC in the past and how they felt like a breath of fresh air on the board. This is exemplified, currently, by no other character than the one V.M has been writing since they joined the board last year.

In a time where the so-called villain characters are being carried heavily by a lot of the older characters from the boards past, or ties to characters / organisations that give them that villainous aura, Mortifer has been that new person on the block that everyone wants to write with rather than being turned away by the usual OOC antics that come with that territory (which he has avoided).

This character deserves their dubs, and while my only in-character interactions came with him via a sub-account I have since deleted, I immensely enjoyed our duel in the first Brosi thread last year and it looks like he has continued to do that with other people 8 months later, so he will get my vote for not being a one-trick pony or falling into the annoying pitfalls a lot of people fall into when they are playing a Sith character which gets a lot of praise.
