Public Character of the Month - March 2026 - Nominations

Happy Spring everyone!

Hope you all had a great March everyone! It is time to do our nominations once again and I am looking forward to seeing all the fantastic threads and nominees this time!

Here are the rules as always -

Rules are as following:

  • Nominate a character that is not of your writing that has impressed you in the last month.
  • Give the reasons why.
    • Please include thread links for others to see why you love the character so much.
  • You may nominate someone that has already been nominated, they will be listed once in the voting stage and the reasons combined into one.
  • This is for In Character stuff.
  • During the nomination step, you must ask the winner a question for your nomination to count. Yes, that means in this thread, along with the nomination also put a question for the eventual winner, ya scamp.
  • During the voting, please limit yourselves to one vote.
  • Character must have been active in the last month to qualify, would be great if you would keep it to the last months exploits too.
  • Characters can only win once.
  • Please do not nominate Staff.
  • One week to nominate. Approximately.

* Character may not reign as Character of the Month for an exact month. You will live.

Will state this again here: You MUST ask a question. The last few months, people seem to keep forgetting that and then their nominations don't count.

Let's see who will join our previous winners: Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin , Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen , Darth Malum of House Marr Darth Malum of House Marr , Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania , Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze , Darth Caedes Darth Caedes , Roman Vossari Roman Vossari , Naamino Zuukamano Naamino Zuukamano , Micah tol Powl Micah tol Powl , Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik , Lorn Reingard Lorn Reingard , Her Her , Azurine Varek Azurine Varek , Darth Anathemous Darth Anathemous , The Madclaw The Madclaw , Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor , Xeykard Xeykard , Koda Fett Koda Fett , Aiden Porte Aiden Porte , Acier Moonbound Acier Moonbound , Aren D'Shade Aren D'Shade , Madrona A’Mia Madrona A’Mia , Adelle Bastiel Adelle Bastiel , and our winner from last month Bastila Sal-Soren Bastila Sal-Soren !

I second this nomination. The story that Reina has told from Jedi Padawan to the badass she's becoming and discovering herself has been a fun ride. I've enjoyed our stories together and even opposing her as a fellow Jedi with Kito Kito , Reina is a great character and the writer is even more fabulous!

Question:

Describe your character's ideal mundane day and why is it that?

Nomination: Varin Mortifer

I would like to nominate Varin Mortifer Varin Mortifer for Character of the Month.

There are a lot of strong writers on the site, but what stands out about Varin is the consistency of his presence and the weight he brings into every scene. He does not just react to events. He shapes them. Whether it is through tension, emotion, or sheer force of personality, every thread he is in feels elevated because of it.

In particular, his recent writing in this thread really highlights that:

There is a very real sense of instability and intensity to Varin that never feels random. It is controlled chaos. You can feel the internal conflict in his posts, the push and pull between restraint and something far more destructive beneath the surface. That balance is not easy to write, and it is done consistently well.

What I have especially enjoyed is how he interacts with others. He creates space for tension without overpowering the scene, and his reactions feel grounded in his character's history and state of mind. That makes every interaction feel meaningful rather than forced.

He is the kind of character that:

  • drives narrative forward
  • creates emotional stakes
  • and gives other writers something strong to respond to
That combination is what makes collaborative writing really work, and Varin does it extremely well.

Question for the nominee:

What does he believe he is becoming…and is that something he chose, or something that was forced on him?

I nominate Varin Mortifer Varin Mortifer also! Although the writing I’ve seen is entertaining for sure, this nomination actually comes from word of mouth. I hear so many stories and positive experiences attached to writing with Varin, both IC and OOC. I’m not surprised to see his name come up here. One of my favorite qualities in a writer is someone who drives story rather than merely reacting to what’s been written. Come to find out, he’s the Dungeon Master of his group’s D&D table—so it’s no surprise that he excels in storytelling and creating plot.

Question: how do you come up with your characters names? Think ‘em up? Name generator? Little column A, little column B?
