Public Character of the Month - January 2026 - Nominations!

2026 is here! End of January is near!

Sorry that I didn't do one for December last year but I was just in a rough situation with my IRL and then mental crash of dealing with everything for the beginning of January.

However, I am here and aiming to get our first COTM for 2026!

Rules are as following:

• Nominate a character that is not of your writing that has impressed you in the last month.
• Give the reasons why.
  • Please include thread links for others to see why you love the character so much.
• You may nominate someone that has already been nominated, they will be listed once in the voting stage and the reasons combined into one.
• This is for In Character stuff.
• During the nomination step, you must ask the winner a question for your nomination to count. Yes, that means in this thread, along with the nomination also put a question for the eventual winner, ya scamp.
• During the voting, please limit yourselves to one vote.
• Character must have been active in the last month to qualify, would be great if you would keep it to the last months exploits too.
• Characters can only win once.
• Please do not nominate Staff.
• One week to nominate. Approximately.

* Character may not reign as Character of the Month for an exact month. You will live.

Will state this again here: You MUST ask a question. The last few months, people seem to keep forgetting that and then their nominations don't count.

They have been all over posting like crazy and putting out some fantastic stories with various writers. The personal story has also been compelling and enjoyable to see how the character has developed through it all!

Question: What has been the highlight of writing the character?

 

[Revna Marr]

I would like to nominate Varin Mortifer . Being that he is (relatively) new to the forum, I've watched him bloom not only as a writer, but as a character too and it has been just an awesome journey to witness (and in some cases be a part of!). He went from 100 posts to over 500 in just a couple of months, and has participated in many events across a handful of factions. His stories/posts are always enjoyable to read, and they are very immersive and really pull you in. I am super proud of him and I think he deserves some recognition for his hard work (and bravery to step outside his comfort zone!).

Question: What is your character's most memorable moment on the forum?

I nominate Aether Verd for character of the month.

He's a well-written complex character, neither hero nor villain. It's been fantastic to read.

Question: What would your character have in their pockets?

I would love to nominate Darth Virelia for character of the month!

She is interesting and intrigued me instantly when I read her bio. She is powerful, but that could easily lead to an uncontrollable state and weakness, which is so realistic.

Question: What inspired you to make this character?

I would like to nominate Arris Windrun .

My reasons are simple. I think it was so cool that right after the Sith Covenant went major they immediately went for, what some consider to be, the top bad guys on the board and called them out to prove their spot or someone else is going to take it. It was probably a team effort to arrange the invasion but Arris posted the OP so they get the credit from me. Other reasons for nominating them include the fact that TSC is a breath of fresh air for Sith roleplay. I like the character too who feels like a driving force behind where the faction is at this time.

Love the continuation of storylines too. The entire "Solipsis challenged me to a Kaggath" could have easily just been lost and never followed up primarily because their writer has gone inactive again but they chased that up and I like that oldschool mentality when it comes to roleplay.

 

[Varin Mortifer]

I too wish to nominate Lysander von Ascania . Absolutely amazing and interesting character with an excellent writer to match. This is on top of seeing an absolute busy bee.

I agree with all of the above. I'd like to add one more who has really jumped out to me over the last few months: Adelle Bastiel

An extremely nuanced Mandalorian, an onion that Aurelian and those around THR and ME are just getting to peeling back and discovering things about. Former Jedi turned Mandalorian who is now finding family and purpose while dealing with her past is just a pleasure to get to read. If you ever get the chance to write with Adelle, i'd highly recommend.

I'd like to nominate Varin Mortifer for Character of the Month.

Over the last month, Varin has consistently impressed me through grounded, thoughtful writing and strong collaborative energy. Every thread we've shared has felt purposeful and balanced, with Varin bringing emotional weight, restraint, and presence without ever overshadowing the scene or the characters around him.

What stands out most is how naturally Varin advances the story with others rather than alongside them. Our interactions have pushed both of our characters forward in meaningful ways—emotionally, narratively, and thematically—without forcing outcomes. There's a strong sense of intention behind Varin's choices, and his responses always feel considered rather than reactive.
